Texas Gun Club-Stafford Earns NSSF Five-Star Range Rating

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF^®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, has awarded the Texas Gun Club in Stafford its coveted Five-Star rating for range excellence. Five stars is the highest rating in NSSF’s star-rating system, which evaluates shooting facilities based on appearance, management and shooting sports development and amenities.

Texas Gun Club has locations in League City and Stafford, and the Stafford facility is the recipient of the Five-Star rating. Located southwest of Houston, Stafford receives high marks for family living, and it’s not surprising that family is a focus at Texas Gun Club.

Texas Gun Club is all about community. The partners of Texas Gun Club value being good neighbors, growing the shooting sports and promoting responsible gun ownership coupled with providing exceptional customer service. Fun, friendly and safe is the range’s motto.

The range features spacious, wide lanes with a temperature-controlled environment. There are digital displays for accurate target distance placement, daily usage specials and a wide range of firearm rentals. It’s the perfect place to try out a firearm to see what make and model suits you best.

Texas Gun Club places a premium on safety. Guests must be able to demonstrate safe firearm handling skills prior to shooting on the range, but if you need to learn the basic safety rules or need a refresher, you must take a short, inexpensive range familiarization and etiquette class.

Memberships provide guests great value. There are monthly and yearly range memberships, and premier members have access to the beautiful Independence Lounge. It’s the place to relax with friends before and after visiting the range, taking a class or participating in other range activities.

Daily specials are a fun part of Texas Gun Club’s offerings. On Mondays, show your carry license and get a range discount. Defender Tuesdays provide first responders with discounts and free handgun rentals, and it’s the same for Ladies Wednesdays. Seniors are the focus on Thursdays, and those who wear a Texas Gun Club t-shirt on Fridays receive specials.

Training class offerings are extensive. From introductory courses including NSSF’s First Shots, to the “next-step” Academy Prep course that gets you ready for the three-course Academy (Marksman, Gunslinger and Gunfighter), you can progress in your skills and confidence. NSSF Welcomes Rep. Richard Hudson’s Concealed Carry Reciprocity Legislation H.R. 38 Would End Patchwork of Confusing Gun Laws for CC Permit Holders

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF^®, The Firearm Industry’s Trade Association, wholeheartedly welcomes U.S. Rep. Richard Hudson’s (R-N.C.) introduction of the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2025, H.R. 38. The legislation was introduced with 113 co-sponsors, demonstrating the wide-ranging support for protecting law-abiding concealed carry permit holders from navigating a patchwork of varying gun control laws when crossing a state line.

The bill aims to eliminate the confusion of varying state-by-state laws and provide protection for Second Amendment rights for permit holders. The legislation would allow handgun owners who are legally permitted and authorized by their home state to carry a concealed firearm to lawfully carry in other states provided they comply with the law in other states – much in the same way a driver’s license is recognized.

“This legislation eliminates the confusing patchwork of laws surrounding concealed carry permits that vary from state-to-state, particularly with regard to states where laws make unwitting criminals out of legal permit holders for a simple mistake of a wrong traffic turn,” said Lawrence Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “It safeguards a state’s right to determine their own laws while protecting the Second Amendment rights of all Americans. We thank Rep. Hudson for his leadership on behalf of the firearm industry that serves law-abiding gun owners who wish to exercise their Second Amendment right to bear arms across state lines.”

Unlike other rights protected by the U.S. Constitution, the right to keep and bear arms is regulated differently by individual states. While individual rights to speech, religion and protections of Due Process or Search and Seizure are constant and do not end at your state’s border, gun rights vary according to the state. Reciprocity agreements exist, but not between all states and are ever-changing. That puts individuals at risk of running afoul of varying state-by-state laws when traveling and crossing borders.

The pitfalls of these varying state-by-state laws were exposed when Philadelphia resident Shaneen Allen faced up to five years in prison for bringing a firearm into New Jersey in 2013. She held a valid license to carry in Pennsylvania, but not in neighboring New Jersey. The mother-of-two voluntarily told a law enforcement officer of the firearm during a traffic stop, but was still arrested, charged, convicted and spent 48 days in jail – all for having made a wrong turn and accidentally crossing the state line. Fortunately, after an 18-month legal ordeal, Republican Gov. Chris Christie pardoned Allen. Others are not so lucky.

NSSF Applauds Rep. Bergman’s FIND Act Introduction

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF^®, the firearm industry trade association, welcomed the introduction of H.R. 45, the Firearm Industry Nondiscrimination (FIND) Act, into Congress by U.S. Rep. Jack Bergman (R-Mich.). The bill has 38 co-sponsors. This vital legislation will end the ability of corporate entities from profiting from taxpayer-funded federal contracts while discriminating against a Constitutionally-protected industry at the same time.

“This legislation is critical to ensuring ‘woke’ corporations don’t use their financial might, funded by taxpayers, to deny essential services to the firearm industry,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “Corporations, in particular financial institutions, have been dictating public policies from boardrooms that throttle firearm businesses, which are Constitutionally protected. This bill will no longer allow those corporations to benefit from taxpayer dollars while at the same time using those funds to deny Americans their Second Amendment rights. We thank Congressman Bergman for his leadership to ensure fairness in business, reasserting Congress’s role in ensuring the federal government isn’t picking winners and losers in the marketplace based on politics and protecting the ability of a lawful industry to compete for services without artificial and agenda-driven barriers.”

Congressman Bergman’s FIND Act does not tell companies with whom they must do business. However, just as companies can chose who they wish to do business with, so can the government when it spends taxpayers money. This bill ensures corporations cannot benefit from contracts and subcontracts funded by taxpayers only to use their financial strength to unfairly discriminate against the firearm industry. For far too long, corporations have engaged in “boardroom gun control” to force firearm businesses to adopt measures that would restrict Americans’ Second Amendment rights. Corporations are free to hold these anti-Second Amendment policies if they choose but would forfeit access to lucrative federal contracts.

Similar laws have been enacted in nine states. Congressman Bergman’s legislation would bring those same fair business protections to the federal government to ensure corporate entities are not forcing policies that deny American civil liberties through the benefit of taxpayer-funded federal contracts.

You may or may not know that some of our suppressors are only warrantied for specific barrel-lengths. This is because as barrel-length decreases, muzzle pressure increases. And not all muzzle pressures are compatible with certain suppressors.
It’s important to understand muzzle pressure and know which of our suppressors have barrel-length recommendations to maintain the longevity of your suppressor! Each of our products will include these recommendations on their corresponding spec sheets and manuals found on our website.
Some of our suppressors have no barrel-length restrictions including the Velos LBP line, the Scythe-Ti and the Spectre 9.

Reno, Nev. (January 2025) –The Ramapo College of New Jersey Investigative Genetic Genealogy Center (RCNJ IGG Center) and the Retired Investigators Guild (RIG) are proud to announce a groundbreaking partnership aimed at addressing one of the most pressing challenges in law enforcement: unsolved violent crime. The collaboration, formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MOU), brings together the expertise of the RCNJ IGG Center with the decades of field experience held by members of the RIG.

This partnership leverages the unique strengths of both organizations to pursue justice for victims and provide answers for families affected by unsolved crimes. Under the terms of the MOU, the RCNJ IGG Center will provide pro bono IGG services on RIG cases. The collaboration will also provide hands-on learning opportunities for Ramapo College students studying criminal justice, forensic science, and related fields.

NSSF-Adjusted Background Checks Top 15.2 Million in 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, released the final figures for NSSF-adjusted FBI National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) verifications for December 2024 and the 2024-year-end totals. December’s totals topped 1.6 million background checks for the sale of a firearm at retail. That brought the 2024 annual total to over 15.2 million background checks for the sale of firearms at retail.

“We are proud that NSSF member companies continue to serve the American public that chooses to exercise their Second Amendment rights by the millions each month,” said NSSF President and CEO Joe Bartozzi. “These background check figures show strong sales and that today’s firearm manufacturers are delivering high-quality products. We are proud that our member companies continue to exceed the high standards that law-abiding Americans demand when it comes to the products that allow them to exercise their Second Amendment rights.”

The December 2024 NSSF-adjusted NICS figure of 1,642,270 is a decrease of 7.5 percent compared to December 2023 NSSF-adjusted NICS figure of 1,775,834. For comparison, the unadjusted December 2024 FBI NICS figure of 2,647,933 reflects a 1.6 percent decrease from the unadjusted FBI NICS figure of 2,690,231 in December 2023. December 2024 marks the 65^th month in a row that has exceeded 1 million adjusted background checks in a single month.

The fourth quarter 2024 NSSF-adjusted NICS figure of 4,459,900 reflects a decrease of 5.9 percent compared to the 4,742,029 figure for fourth quarter 2023.

The annual 2024 NSSF-adjusted NICS figure of 15,239,011 reflects a decrease of 3.5 percent compared to the 15,848,055 figure for annual 2023.

Please note: Twenty-four states currently have at least one qualified alternative permit, which under the Brady Act allows the permit-holder, who has undergone a background check to obtain the permit, to purchase a firearm from a licensed dealer without a separate additional background check for that transfer. The number of NICS checks in these states does not include these legal transfers based on qualifying permits and NSSF does not adjust for these transfers.

The adjusted NICS data were derived by subtracting out NICS purpose code permit checks and permit rechecks used by states for CCW permit application checks as well as checks on active CCW permit databases. NSSF started subtracting permit rechecks in February 2016.

Though not a direct correlation to firearms sales, the NSSF-adjusted NICS data provide an additional picture of current market conditions. In addition to other purposes, NICS is used to check transactions for sales or transfers of new or used firearms.

It should be noted that these statistics represent the number of firearm background checks initiated through the NICS. They do not represent the number of firearms sold or sales dollars. Based on varying state laws, local market conditions and purchase scenarios, a one-to-one correlation cannot be made between a firearm background check and a firearm sale.
