(SST), a leading innovator in the ammunition industry, today announced the commercial release of its .338 Lapua NAS³™ cartridge cases, now available online in quantities from 250 to 5,000. The launch extends SST’s revolutionary NAS ³ two-piece technology – a corrosion-resistant nickel-alloy body locked to an ultra-durable stainless-steel head – into one of the most demanding long-range calibers used by precision rifle competitors, military sniper teams, and law enforcement tactical units.

The .338 Lapua NAS³ unloaded case delivers unmatched durability, reduced weight, and repeatable precision that outperforms traditional brass in every critical category. The cases are approximately 30 percent lighter than traditional brass and offer roughly 11 percent more internal volume, allowing more efficient energy use when powder is ignited. The result is the ability to achieve higher velocities at standard SAAMI pressures, with customers reporting standard-bullet velocities up to approximately 3,125 feet per second.

U.S. Military Academy at West Point wins the 2026 SIG Relentless Warrior Championship

The SIG SAUER Charitable Foundation made the donation, which was presented ahead of National Police Week (May 11 – 16), an annual commemoration of U.S. law enforcement officers. As part of National Police Week, the SIG SAUER team will attend memorials and activities in Washington, D.C., honoring those who lost their life in the line of duty and supporting impacted family members.

“The support from SIG SAUER impacts over 87,000 surviving family members and co-workers who have suffered the ultimate tragedy. Their officers are heroes, and we will never forget them. Originally established by President John F. Kennedy in 1962 by proclamation, National Police Week takes place each May to honor the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of law enforcement officers. Centered in our nation’s capital, it is a week of observances to recognize officers who lost their lives in the line of duty and those who continue to serve.

As artificial intelligence systems become more capable, ensuring they behave as intended is becoming a central challenge. Traditional approaches focus on strict alignment, meaning designing AI to follow predefined rules and values. However, as systems grow more complex, predicting every possible behavior becomes increasingly difficult. This raises concerns that highly advanced AI may behave in unexpected ways, even if it is initially designed to be safe.

A new approach suggests shifting away from the idea of a single, perfectly controlled system. Instead, it proposes managing AI behavior through diversity. According to TechXplore, rather than relying on one dominant model, multiple AI systems with different perspectives and priorities would operate together, influencing and balancing one another.

The concept is based on the idea that advanced AI cannot be fully predictable. As systems approach general intelligence, they are likely to explore solutions and behaviors beyond what developers anticipated. Instead of trying to eliminate this unpredictability, the proposed model seeks to contain it by distributing decision-making across a network of systems.

In this framework, each AI operates with partial alignment to different goals or values. Some may prioritize human welfare, others environmental concerns, while some remain neutral. When faced with complex decisions, these systems interact by challenging, correcting, or reinforcing one another. This creates a dynamic balance, reducing the risk that a single system’s bias or error dominates the outcome.

Testing of this concept showed that more rigid systems, while harder to push into harmful behavior, can also be less adaptable if they drift off course. In contrast, more flexible systems were easier to influence and, when combined, created a broader range of responses that could counterbalance extremes.

From a defense and security perspective, this approach has implications for how AI is deployed in critical systems. Relying on a single model could create a point of failure, while a network of diverse systems may offer greater resilience against manipulation or unexpected behavior. This is particularly relevant in areas such as decision support, cybersecurity, and autonomous operations.

As AI continues to evolve, managing its behavior may depend less on strict control and more on structured interaction between systems. A distributed, multi-agent approach could provide a more practical way to maintain reliability in increasingly complex environments.

Flight Test of Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System Using MQ-9A

SAN DIEGO – 11 May 2026 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), in collaboration with the U.S. Air Force (USAF), has conducted flight tests of an Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) using a USAF MQ-9A Reaper^® Remotely Piloted Aircraft. MQ-9A is produced by GA-ASI.

The testing took place recently at the Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR).

The demonstration featured multiple types and variations of shot profiles, including aerial targets. All shots were executed flawlessly by the MQ-9A crews using laser-guided rockets and a specialized launcher.
