First Annual Legends and Heroes Shootout Charity Event Wraps Up with Unforgettable Weekend Honoring Veterans and First Responders
Shell Shock Technologies and sponsors celebrate community, camaraderie, and charitable giving at the shooting and golf charity event.
Eubank, KY (March 2025) – Shell Shock Technologies, LLC. (SST), a leading innovator in the ammunition industry, proudly concludes the inaugural Legends and Heroes Shootout, a two-day charity event held April 27 – 28, 2025, benefiting K9 Heroes 4 Heroes and the NRA. Held at Markham Park Shooting Range and The Club at Weston Hills in Florida, the event brought together veterans, first responders, MLB legends, industry leaders, and supporters for a high-energy weekend filled with purpose and celebration. All net proceeds from the event will directly benefit K9 Heroes 4 Heroes and the NRA, providing essential resources, mental health support, and transition services to veterans and first responders nationwide. Attendees kicked off the weekend at Markham Park Shooting Range with hands-on shooting experiences using Shell Tech’s advanced precision ammunition and Desert Tech’s innovative bullpup rifles. With instruction led by industry influencer Jake Holt of Regional Operations, participants engaged in dynamic range competitions, showcasing reload techniques, ergonomics, and the unique capabilities of bullpup platforms. Prizes from Four Brothers Custom Gun Holsters and Heritage Distilling Company were awarded, and the grand prize included automatic entry into the NRA World Shooting Championship.
On Monday, the action shifted to The Club at Weston Hills for a scramble-format golf tournament, where participants enjoyed contests, raffles, and even launched golf balls downrange using a custom AR-15-style launcher. After the round, guests enjoyed a high-end lunch starting with a cocktail reception and appetizers, followed by carving stations and gourmet fare, open bar, and a whiskey tasting featuring Heritage Distilling’s Service to America SALUTE™: War Dogs™ Edition Bourbon, followed by an awards ceremony and silent auction filled with exclusive memorabilia.
The tournament concluded with a victory by team Placido & The Pitching Wedge, comprised of MLB greats Placido Polanco and “El Duque” Hernandez, and Juan Munoz and Rafael Acevedo, whose competitive spirit and camaraderie embodied the event’s purpose of giving back.
Throughout the weekend, participants had the chance to meet and interact with members of K9 Heroes 4 Heroes, learning about its mission to provide trained service dogs to veterans and first responders at no cost. These dogs play a vital role in helping our heroes reintegrate into civilian life and maintain their independence. Their presence brought a deeper level of understanding and appreciation to the weekend’s efforts.

IDV to supply 785 Military Logistic Trucks for the Dutch Armed Forces Bolzano, 13th May 2025 – IDV has been awarded, by the Materiel and IT Command (COMMIT) of the Dutch Ministry of Defense, the WTB tender for the supply and logistic support of 785 military logistic trucks. The trucks will enhance the capabilities of the Dutch Armed Forces and will be delivered between 2027 and 2029.
Under the terms of the supply contract, IDV will deliver 8×8 and 6×6 military trucks in three versions: Semitrailer Tractor, Recovery, and Hook-lift, either with protected or unprotected cabs, characterized by exceptional mobility, maneuverability, and reliability, ensuring logistical commonality across different platforms and many other EU member states. The contract includes an optional tranche of additional 785 vehicles and the integrated logistic support for a minimum period of 15 years.
This new award marks another important milestone in the ongoing partnership between IDV and the Dutch Ministry of Defense, following the successful 12kN Manticore Project, which resulted in the order of 1,283 MTV vehicles (Multirole Tactical Vehicle). IDV confirms itself as a trusted partner of the Dutch Armed Forces, reaffirming its position as a leading manufacturer of land military platforms in Europe.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Montana’s Gov. Greg Gianforte is giving firearm industry members more reason to consider the Big Sky State as a home from which to do business. Gov. Gianforte just signed legislation revising the state’s public nuisance law and adding protections to keep gun control activists from enacting “lawfare” against firearm and ammunition businesses.
Gov. Gianforte signed HB 791 into law on May 8. The law clarifies that the design, manufacturing, selling, labelling or marketing of firearms, firearm accessories or ammunition or its components, are not considered a public nuisance. Additionally, state law preempts local municipal laws and ordinances from overriding state law. Gov. Gianforte’s signature on this law will prevent the attempts to skirt the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA) that has been witnessed in other states.
“Governor Gianforte, and Montana’s lawmakers, are sending a clear message that gun control lawfare targeted against our industry, which is critical to Montana’s economy and the nation’s heritage of Second Amendment freedoms, will not be tolerated,” said Nephi Cole, NSSF Director of Government Relations – State Affairs. “The firearm industry is grateful for state Representative Anthony Nicastro for shepherding this bill through the legislature and for Governor Gianforte’s leadership in signing this important protection into law.”
Gov. Gianforte has a proven track record of protecting Montana’s firearm and ammunition industry. He is a regular SHOT Show® attendee and participant in NSSF’s Governors’ Forum. Gov. Gianforte recently posted a call to Colorado firearm and ammunition businesses to consider Montana for a new place to do business following Colorado Gov. Jared. Polis signing SB3, a law the bans the bans the manufacturing, distributing, transferring, selling or purchasing of Modern Sporting Rifles (MSRs), unless a gun purchaser first options a permit-to-purchase the rifle.
Recent years have brought big moves – and big economic returns – to Montana with Gov. Gianforte playing an active role. Ultimate Defense Technologies moved from Arizona to Billings, Montana after meeting Gov. Gianforte at SHOT Show 2023 and opened their new firearm safety systems solutions headquarters in September 2024. Olympus Arms celebrated production expansion in Helena, Montana after the company announced an investment of $50 million with plans to add jobs for 60 employees. Brixtel Defense, an ammunition manufacturer, announced their relocation from Virginia to Dawson County in Montana, adding a $125 million investment in and bringing 125 jobs, with plans for a total of 350 jobs. Alpha Loading Systems, an ammunition loading and primer machinery manufacturer, announced in 2023 it was expanding its footprint in western Montana and tripling its workforce. Shield Arms announced an expansion and move into a new $5 million 36,000 square foot headquarters and manufacturing facility in Bigfork that will also bring 30 new jobs to its existing 40 employee footprint.

RICE LAKE, Wis., May 9, 2025 — At the National Police Defense Foundation’s 30th Anniversary Awards Dinner, Henry Repeating Arms Founder and CEO Anthony Imperato presented custom one-of-a-kind engraved rifles to several distinguished honorees, including former ICE Director and current Border Czar Tom Homan, who was named the National Police Defense Foundation’s 2025 Man of the Year.
Due to his position in President Trump’s cabinet, Homan respectfully declined to accept the firearm, though he joked, “Maybe I should resign so I can take this beautiful rifle!” Instead, Homan asked that the custom New Original Henry Silver Deluxe Engraved rifle, which features engraved seals of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Border Patrol (USBP), be used to raise funds for the Border Patrol Foundation (BPF), a 501(c)(3) non profit organization established in 2009 to honor the memory of fallen U.S. Border Patrol agents. BPF also provides financial support to USBP agents, employees, and their families for on- and off-duty deaths, injuries, illnesses, and student scholarships.
In an emotional moment that drew a rousing round of applause, Imperato responded, “Now you’ve got my juices flowing – I’m going to add $50,000 on top of whatever this rifle brings at auction.”
Mr. Homan graciously signed the accompanying hand-built American walnut tabletop display case, which will be included in an online auction with the custom rifle within 30 days. All proceeds from the auction will be presented to the Border Patrol Foundation. Including prior cash and product donations, the $50,000 will make Henry’s total contributions to the Border Patrol Foundation exceed $100,000. The world of concealed carry optics has been evolving rapidly, but for a long time, I remained a skeptic. I clung to iron sights, prioritizing the simplicity and reliability I’d always known. Red dot sights on pistols, in my mind, introduced unnecessary complexity: batteries to fail, bulk to snag, and a learning curve that seemed daunting. I was comfortable with what I knew, and the perceived benefits of a red dot didn’t outweigh the potential drawbacks. That was, until I encountered the Holosun SCS Carry-GR.
My initial reservations stemmed from a few key areas. First, the idea of relying on a battery-powered optic for a defensive firearm seemed inherently risky. What if the battery died at a critical moment? Second, many red dot sights I’d seen added significant bulk to the slide, making the pistol harder to conceal and potentially more prone to snagging on clothing during a draw. Finally, I worried about the learning curve. Acquiring the dot quickly and consistently seemed like a skill that would require a lot of practice, and I wasn’t sure it would be faster or more reliable than my years of experience with iron sights.

UK CERTIFIES PROTECTOR AS FIRST OF ITS KIND REMOTELY PILOTED AIRCRAFT
SAN DIEGO – 08 May 2025 – The UK’s Military Aviation Authority has issued a Military Type Certificate to the Royal Air Force’s Protector RG Mk1 uncrewed aircraft, also designated the MQ-9B, certifying that it has passed a rigorous airworthiness assessment and verifying it’s safe to operate without geographic restrictions, including over populous areas. This April 29 decision was a first-of-its-kind milestone for a large, unmanned aircraft system. It’s a huge accomplishment for the UK and a technological watershed in the history of unmanned aircraft systems. GA-ASI is the first manufacturer of large, unmanned aircraft to receive an MTC based on rigorous compliance with STANAG 4671, the NATO standard for unmanned aircraft system airworthiness.
Obtaining the MTC has been a goal of GA-ASI since the inception of the MQ-9B in January 2014. The company took its proven UAS platform, the MQ-9A, and added performance enhancing features while ensuring that the design was capable of meeting NATO’s STANAG 4671 Edition 2 airworthiness requirements. To meet those rigorous requirements, the aircraft incorporates numerous enhancements not found on other large UAS. These include lightning protection, fire protection, anti-icing systems and a fatigue-and-damage-tolerant building block design approach. All flight critical software was designed in compliance with the rigor of Do-178/254. Mission software is rigidly separated from flight critical software. These features not only address the aircraft’s airworthiness but also enhance its reliability and operational flexibility to levels unmatched by other UAS.
“Earning an MTC for MQ-9B was a herculean effort and a seminal achievement for our company,” said GA-ASI CEO Linden Blue. “We invested over $500 million as part of an 11-year effort to develop an unmanned aircraft that meets NATO’s rigorous airworthiness standards. This included three flight test aircraft, full component and system-level environmental testing to Do-160 and Mil-Standards (system level environmental testing at Elgin and Pax River), full scale static test airframe test to ultimate ground and flight loads, bird strike, hail protection and full-scale fatigue testing to three lifetimes (3x 40,000 notional aircraft flight hours = 120,000 hours total). Our engineers developed over 140,000 pages of detailed technical data verifying that the MQ-9B met those demanding requirements. I congratulate our team for this outstanding accomplishment, and I know our customers need this type certification, which will open civil airspace for their flight operations.”
The Royal Air Force continues to take delivery of new Protector aircraft at their home in the North of England at RAF Waddington. The UK has 10 aircraft of the 16 it has ordered.
“Achieving the award of a first in class Military Type Certificate has required years of dedication and perseverance and is a testament to the hard work of all involved. It is a privilege to be the first to be awarded an MTC for the Protector Air System,” said Gp. Capt. Neil Venables, Type Airworthiness Authority and holder of the Protector Type Certificate.
MQ-9B is the world’s most advanced medium altitude, long endurance UAS. MQ-9B includes the SkyGuardian® and SeaGuardian® models as well as the Protector operated by the RAF.
In addition to the UK, GA-ASI has MQ-9B orders from Belgium, Canada, Poland, Japan Coast Guard, Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, Taiwan, India, and the U.S. Air Force in support of the Special Operations Command. MQ-9B has also supported various U.S. Navy exercises, including Northern Edge, Integrated Battle Problem, RIMPAC, and Group Sail.
