CMMG, INC. ANNOUNCES NEW POLICY ON STATE REGULATION OF FIREARMS

The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and all law abiding gun owners in our country are currently under assault. Since the horrible tragedy in Connecticut, politicians and media alike are actively demonizing and criminalizing citizens of these great United States who are exercising their rights under the Second Amendment. The emotional responses and decisions being made right now are extremely dangerous and short sighted.
As individual states elect to pass more restrictive gun laws, CMMG will adhere to each state’s regulations. However, CMMG has made a policy decision that it will not supply products to law enforcement agencies in states that have enacted legislation preventing individual citizens from owning similar firearms. CMMG will no longer provide these agencies with firearms, magazines or any other products that are restricted or no longer available to civilians. CMMG will not stand by on the sidelines and let America’s rights be stripped away. CMMG will not support states that have police departments and law enforcement agencies arming themselves with firearms and weapons that are not available to law abiding citizens. CMMG does not believe in separate classes of citizens and will not engage in sales to states that enact legislation promoting that belief.
CMMG will, however, make exceptions to police departments and law enforcement agencies that have taken a public stand refusing to recognize or enforce unconstitutional firearm restrictions. Agencies making this stand are putting their careers on the line to take a constitutional stand for all Americans as fellow citizens. Abraham Lincoln spoke on June 16, 1858, and stated that “a house divided against itself cannot stand;” CMMG supports those who support our freedom.
CMMG, as industry partners, and gun owners (including law enforcement agencies), need to stand up and stand together to counter this assault on our freedom and our constitutional rights. The Constitution is the supreme legal authority in our land, and we are bound by its words. It states in the Preamble that it was written to “form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.” The Founding Fathers agreed the best way to establish this was through the Bill of Rights which includes the Second Amendment. Let us take this stand together, unified, to continue allowing this country to be the beacon of freedom to the world.

Furlough Notices Hit The Mail

One of several Administrative Furlough notices have gone out. However, from the looks of things the most significant impact will be on managers with scheduling around the notice requirements, which is off time of not less than 176 non-contiguous hours. Although furloughed employees will be in a non-pay status it may come as a welcomed event for some to get projects around the house done, vacation and/or spend time with the family.

A Funduscopic Examination Of The Precision Guided Firearm (PGF)

All branches of the military are looking to improve a sniper’s performance through the implementation of technology.

In addition to field craft like land navigation, concealment and movement a sniper team, which generally consists of a sniper and a spotter, must possess marksmanship proficiency that allows them to place one shot in a target at the maximum effective range of the weapon platform. For a 7.62 x 51 that’s approximately 800 meters, 300 Winchester Magnum 1200 meters, 338 Lapua Magnum 1500 meters and 50 BMG 1800 meters.

To accomplish this goal, the sniper and spotter must work together to accurately determine range to the target, assess wind direction and wind velocity, assess environmental variables that include temperature, barometric pressure  and humidity. The spotter team must also anticipate the target’s direction and speed of movement. All of these factors result in one windage and elevation setting that will deliver the projectile and defeat the target. At ranges of 300 meters and more the probability of a successful “one shot one kill” rapidly diminishes in practical application.

PGF technology integrates sensors, computation and the weapon system to greatly improve the possibility of a consistent one shot one kill at the maximum effective range of the weapon platform in use. Readers should understand even though PGF technology enhances the probability of a hit at the maximum effective range, there are no guarantees; for example, a 7.62 x 51 (.308) round takes ~ 1.6 seconds to travel 1000 meters. In ballistic time, 1.6 seconds is a long time and a lot can happen to the projectile as it travels that distance. PGF is a tool and not intended to substitute core competencies, ever.

Over the last several decades, Smith Enterprise has sold various firearm related products to state agencies and police departments in New York. However, due to the changing political climate and anti-gun policies coming from your state, we are forced to make some changes in how we do business with your government agencies.
It is improper for us to sell items to state agencies and law enforcement that law-abiding citizens are not allowed to purchase. Effective immediately Smith Enterprise will no longer sell items to your state government that you have outlawed your citizens to buy.
Until your state changes your gun control laws and ensures these laws are back in line with the 2nd Amendment of the United States Constitution, Smith Enterprise will be forced to keep this policy.

The Boulder Airlift

We deeply appreciate the support we have received from around the country as we fight to stay here in Colorado. If the pending state legislation limiting sales and transfers of standard capacity magazines does pass, we will not be the only ones affected; Colorado residents’ right to purchase and transfer standard capacity magazines will be infringed in the near future. With that in mind, we are beginning a program to help as many residents of our home state as we can, while we still can. To meet this need, we have set up a process for CO residents to purchase limited quantities of magazines from our website.

Similar to the Berlin Airlift, the Boulder Airlift will bring much needed supplies to freedom-loving residents trapped inside occupied territory. While we plan to use ground shipping instead of aerial delivery, we figure that $5 flat rate shipping will make up for any loss of “style points.”

Our production capacity increases will allow us to open this program with very minimal impact on the number of PMAGs we are shipping out of the state. We are also aware that Colorado is not the only state with existing or pending magazine capacity restrictions; we are working on programs for other affected states as well.

Beretta May Move It’s Operations Out Of Maryland

It appears the Firearm Safety Act of 2013, introduced by Maryland’s Governor Martin O’Malley is the catalyst behind Beretta’s plan to leave Accokeek, MD and relocate its facilities elsewhere. The proposed legislation would ban the sale of modern semiautomatic rifles and limit magazine capacities to 10 rounds. Passage of the Firearm Safety Act of 2013 would make it illegal for Beretta to manufacture and sell its new ARX-160. Beretta also manufactures the military’s M9 at the Accokeek facility. The move would mean a loss of 400 jobs and $31 million in tax revenue. Compounding the problem is the impact of Beretta’s departure on its supply channel, which translates to even more job losses and lost revenues.

However, one segment of Maryland’s population will be glad to see the  Firearm Safety Act of 2013 pass and that’s its criminal element. Maryland is blessed with one of the highest crime rates in the country and a growing gang presence. If Governor Martin O’Malley has his way that trend will continue.

NSSF Postpones Shooting Sports Summit

NEWTOWN, Conn. — The National Shooting Sports Foundation’s Shooting Sports Summit, set for June 10-12 in Springfield, Mass., has been postponed to June 9-11, 2014.

“We have postponed the Shooting Sports Summit so we can fully focus our resources on the legislative and regulatory challenges our industry is facing,” said Chris Dolnack, NSSF senior president and chief marketing officer. “We remain committed to working with our Task Force 20/20 partner organizations to increase hunting and recreational shooting participation by 20 percent by the end of 2014.”

Formed in 2008, Task Force 20/20 Steering Committee consists of key individuals from 15 organizations representing the industry to assist with reaching the stated goal. The top initiatives that surfaced from Task Force 20/20 were to develop programs and efforts to serve as models for many motivated groups to use and to lower costs for implementation. Existing and effective programs were enhanced to reach the most people possible and are referred to as “Models of Success” programs.

“NSSF will provide an interim report on the progress of Task Force 20/20 Models of Success projects later this year,” said Melissa Schilling, NSSF director of recruitment and retention.

Projects designed to increase hunting and recreational shooting participation that are gaining traction can be found in Florida, Texas, Michigan, Alabama and several other states. “We are currently reviewing and selecting new Models of Success programs now to maintain the momentum of our outreach efforts,” said Schilling.

Comcast Pulls All Gun Ads – Is There No End To The Madness…

Daniel Xu, reporter for Outdoor News, writes that Comcast, the nations largest cable network, stopped accepting  and ceased all gun ads as February 8, 2013. Apparently, the change in policy came about when Comcast merged with none other than NBC Universal. The new policy is across 40 states and affects over 22 million homes passed. This is particularly disturbing since cable service providers have monopolies in the markets they serve. Absolutely mind boggling!

To the individuals impacted by this ridiculous policy, consider taking your business to Dish Networks. To advertisers who still believe in free trade and The Constitution, pull your ads and place them with a network or cable provider that believes broadcasting is part and parcel of the right to free speech in America.

Comcast recently defended its position with the following statement:

Consistent with longstanding NBC policies, Comcast Spotlight has decided it will not accept new advertising for firearms or weapons moving forward. This policy aligns us with the guidelines in place at many media organizations.

EOTech 300 Blackout/Whisper Zero

You can always count on the L3 / EOTech team to come up with a straightforward and functional weapon sight. For 2013, the company has introduced the 300 Blackout /Whisper Zero weapon sight; as its name implies, this weapon sight was designed to support the tremendously popular .300 Blackout caliber.

The highly versatile .300 Blackout comes in two flavors; the full powered load, with an effective range out to 500+ meters, or its subsonic counterpart, effective to a range of 150 meters. I’ve shot the subsonic .300 AAC Blackout to 250 meters with acceptable accuracy but 150 meters is optimal. It’s not just a fantastic tactical load, it’s also ideally suited for those 200+ pound hogs you get in Alabama.

P1000363With the traditional magnified optic arrangement, you end up having to re-zero as you move from one load to the other. This is time consuming and frankly not too practical for a tactical application. The folks at EOTech have addressed this need quite elegantly with its new 300 Blackout /Whisper Zero. Simply zero  the sight with a load of your choice and you’ve zeroed the weapon for all loads. Here’s how that works.

Using a full powered load zero your sight at 100 meters, using the top dot. Now if you need to engage a target at 300 hundred meters simply use the lower dot as your holdover. If you need to switch to a subsonic load the top dot is a 50 meter zero and the bottom dot is your holdover for a 150 meter target; for ranges in between those given, simply interpolate. Now, for optimal flexibility,  throw EOTech’s 3x magnifier behind the 300 Blackout /Whisper Zero and you’ll have a weapon sight tailored for the 300 Blackout that is suitable for a variety of applications.

STREAMLIGHT® INTRODUCES TLR-2® G WITH GREEN LASER

Streamlight TLR-2 GStreamlight introduced a new addition to their weapon mounted light line, the TLR-2®G a lightweight, gun-mounted tactical light featuring a green aiming laser for high visibility and long-range targeting.

The TLR-2 G delivers extreme brightness to a broad range of weapons through the latest in C4® LED technology. It features an integrated green laser, which is brighter to the human eye than other colored lasers, particularly in daylight; improving users’ ability to focus on targets. The new model is also equipped with a strobe function.

The TLR-2 G delivers 200 lumens and 6,300 candela peak beam intensity. It features a shock-proof C4 LED, and a textured parabolic reflector that produces a concentrated beam with optimum peripheral illumination to assist with navigation. It includes a 522-542 nm green laser integrated in the light’s reflector.

The light operates in one of three modes Laser-Only to keep the gun on target, LED-Only mode to provide bright, focused light, or dual mode, which uses both light sources.

Its design provides a run time of 1.5 continuous hours to the 10% output level when used in the LED Only mode, 1.25 hours when using the LED and Laser modes simultaneously, and nine hours in the Laser Only mode. A double tap of the light’s momentary paddle activates the strobe, which also can be disabled.

The TLR-2® G is powered by a  single 3 Volt CR123A lithium battery with a storage life of 10 years. The TLR-2® G weighs 4.58 ounces and measures 3.39 inches in length. The main body is constructed from 6000 Series machined aircraft aluminum with a black anodized finish, and the housing is fabricated from high impact, chemically resistant engineering polymer.

The TLR-2® G mounts directly to handguns with Glock-style rails and to all MIL-STD-1913 (Picatinny) rails. A key kit with five interchangeable keys is included to securely fit the light to a broad array of weapons. The TLR-2® G fits all existing TLR-2® holsters.

The new light features an IXP4-rated design for water-resistant operation, and its impact-resistant construction also has been extensively live-fired tested. The operating temperature range of the green laser is 32 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit.

MSRP is $550.00 and comes with Streamlight’s Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Why Do Beards Break Up Wind Resistance?

I had a reader question from Canada challenging my assertion that beards break up wind resistance. He was referring to an earlier post that you can read here.

The individual on the left has a beard and the individual of the right clearly does not. The man on the left is tactical and the man on the right is not. You see Jacques the beard interacts with air at a molecular level disrupting it before ever hitting the face thus allowing the bearded person to move through  the air quicker. Think of it as nature’s Teflon coating.

Tell Me If This Makes Sense…

Recently, we’ve seen a rash of public trust funds, from blue states, divest themselves of investments in firearm manufacturing businesses. More recently, CalPERS, the country’s largest public pension fund, announced that it would divest its holdings in Smith and Wesson and Ruger. An odd decision since Smith & Wesson is trading at a price to earnings ratio of around 11 with $0.83 earnings per fully diluted share. What the heck is going on here folks?

Access to capital is crucial to the success of any business and I’m deeply troubled by the fact that organizations, who are essentially influenced by their respective States, are working in concert to destroy a business sector. Classical example is the recent decision by Colorado to pass HB13-1224 limiting standard magazine capacities; all in the interest of public safety. Yet, they’ve legalized marijuana. I guess if you’re stoned you’re not a public safety hazard. Really? Somewhat inconsistent don’t you think?

Maybe, what the rest of America should do – at least the ones that haven’t lost their minds yet – is ask your elected official, state and local, not to purchase bond issues from states and municipalities that infringe on the 2nd Amendment rights of its citizens. Extend that challenge to your financial institutions, fund managers, IRA and 401K managers.

The Magpul Field Case for the iPhone 5 is a semi-rigid cover designed to provide basic protection in the field. It’s made from a durable thermoplastic featuring PMAG-style ribs for added grip, snap-on design for easy installation and removal, and slides easily in and out of pockets without snagging.

Magpul’s iPhone 5 field case has an new design to improve camera/flash port geometry and superior durability resulting from improved materials. Similar enhancements are planned for their iPhone 4/4s case and will be available later in the year.

CalPERS Will Divest Its Portfolio Of Gun Maker Securities and Investments.

CalPERS, the countries largest public pension fund, has announced that it is taking a stand against gun violence by divesting its huge investment portfolio of shares and other investments in Smith & Wesson Holding Corp. and Sturm, Ruger & Co. The sale amounts to a $5 million position consisting of equities and other investments.

Apparently, these folks feel that Smith & Wesson Holding Corp and Ruger & Co. manufacture “Saturday Night Specials, which are illegal in California.” The move appears to be political and it’s unlikely that it will have a bearing on the financial health of the companies affected.

Opportunity knocks but once and this may very well be just that. Both Smith & Wesson and Ruger should be considering a stock buyback at what may be a lower than market selling price.

MOLON LABE INDUSTRIES TEAMS UP WITH OPERATION 300

Molon Labe Industries, manufacturers of polymer magazines and accessories for rifle platforms, has recently pledged to donate a portion of its revenues to Operation 300, a non-profit foundation designed to create a week long experience for children who have lost their fathers as a result of service to our country.

Operation 300 was founded by Tara Vaughn Baldwin in honor and memory of her brother Navy SEAL Aaron Carson Vaughn who was tragically killed on August 6, 2011 when a Chinook chopper carrying 30 American troops was shot down in Afghanistan. The goal of the foundation is to give children who have lost so much the opportunity to live like Aaron, if only for a short time.

Operation 300’s camps will provide an opportunity for children to participate in activities that embody the spirit of adventure that characterized the lives of their absent fathers while fostering a culture of courage, strength, freedom, endurance, honor and Godly morality embodied by fearless patriots throughout the history of our American Republic.

Navy SEAL Aaron Vaughn with the Molon Labe tattoo evident on his left forearm. Baldwin shared a personal story regarding her brother and a tattoo he wore on his left forearm, something that resonated with Molon Labe Industries.

Approximately 10 years ago, Aaron Vaughn had read Steven Pressfield’s Gates of Fire. Vaughn was so moved and compelled by that book that he tattooed “Molon Labe” on his left forearm. The placement of the tattoo was just as important as the saying to Vaughn because of how he planned to use that forearm in hand to hand combat.

Arc’teryx LEAF Knee Caps

I’ve been spending some time getting familiar with the Arc’teryx’s LEAF products from both the technical side as well as esthetics. They are undeniably top-of-the-line with a corresponding price.

Whenever I encounter high end products, and I don’t mean just $20 or $40 more, I always revert to my business school training and ask the question: “does the incremental increase in cost provide at least a 1:1 incremental increase in utility?” In non technical terms, am I getting what I’m paying for? I decided to plunge into this adventure by attempting to resolve, what I had accepted as a fact of life, which is that all knee pads are destined to slide off your knee and end up at your ankle where they serve no useful purpose. So, I ended up picking up a sample of Arc’teryx’s Knee Caps, which is part of the company’s LEAF line, to answer the question: “does marginal cost equal marginal utility?” It did for me…

Colorado HB13-1224 Passes 34 to 31 Vote

Colorado’s hotly contested HB13-1224 narrowly passed in Colorado’s Sixty-Ninth General Assembly with a 34 to 31vote on the floor and the 11 Bill sponsors.

This comes as sad news to Coloradans, and the numerous companies, and their communities, that will be adversely impacted. It’s also a milestone in the Lego approach to infringement on 2nd Amendment rights. For the folks at Magpul who built the company, over the years, to world prominence – “if you need help moving let me know.” I can assure you, that you won’t have a hard time finding a home where you can continue to innovate and prosper.

I’ve included HB13-1224 full text below my summary.

  1. The bill prohibits the sale, transfer, or possession of an ammunition feeding device that is capable of accepting, or that can be readily converted to accept, more than 10 rounds of ammunition or more than 5 shotgun shells (large-capacity magazine).
  2. A person may possess a large-capacity magazine if he or she owns the large-capacity magazine on the effective date of the bill and maintains continuous possession of the large-capacity magazine.
  3. A person who sells, transfers, or possesses a large-capacity magazine in violation of the new provision commits a class 2 misdemeanor.
  4. A large-capacity magazine that is manufactured in Colorado on or after the effective date of the bill must include a serial number and the date upon which the large-capacity magazine was manufactured or assembled. The serial number and date must be legibly and conspicuously engraved or cast upon the outer surface of the large-capacity magazine. (The Colorado bureau of investigation may promulgate rules that may require a large-capacity magazine that is manufactured on or after the effective date of the bill to bear identifying information in addition to the serial number and date of assembly.)

  5. A person who manufactures a large-capacity magazine in Colorado in violation of the new provision commits a class 2 misdemeanor.

This exceptional knife bears the name of Avi Nardia a 24 year veteran of the Israeli IDF Reserves, serving as the official hand-to-hand combat instructor and safety officer. This knife is very similar to Avi Nardia’s Israeli Tracker knife; aggressive clip point and recurve with a full belly, greater length and serrations on the spine.

The KAPAP designation historically links the design to the KAPAP philosophy of fighting, which traces it origins back to 1930 in Palestine.

Four anti-gun measures passed their second reading in the Colorado House of Representatives.

Opting to support marijuana usage instead of supporting 2nd Amendment rights for its citizens, the  Colorado House of Representatives passed their second reading of HB1224, HB1226, HB 1228 and HB1229. These 4 blatantly anti-Second Amendment bills, if passed on Monday, 18 Feb 2013, at 10:00, will set back many of the freedoms law abiding Colorado citizens have worked for.

House Bill 1224 – Bans magazines with a capacity greater than fifteen rounds.

House Bill 1226 – Repeals current law allowing individuals with a concealed carry permit to carry a firearm for self-defense on a college or university campus.

House Bill 1228 – Imposes a “gun tax” for a background check when purchasing a firearm.

House Bill 1229 – Criminalizes the private transfer of a firearm.

If you are a Colorado resident contact your state representative and let them know that you oppose any infringements on your 2nd Amendment rights.

Magpul Industries Plans To Leave Colorado If State’s Gun Bill Passes.

MAGPUL INDUSTRIES ANNOUNCES IT WILL LEAVE COLORADO IF GUN BILL PASSES

MOVE WOULD COST STATE 600 JOBS, $85 MILLION

Denver, Colorado – February 15th, 2013 – Magpul Industries, an Erie, Colorado, based manufacturer of firearms accessories, announced today that it will be forced to leave the state if House Bill 1224, which would ban standard capacity magazines, becomes law. The announcement was made to Governor Hickenlooper, state legislators, members of the media, and in a full-page advertisement to appear in the Denver Post on Sunday.

Richard Fitzpatrick, Founder, President, and CEO of Magpul Industries, said that regardless of any amendments that may be worked into the bill, he will no longer be able to continue to do business in Colorado if his core product is made illegal.

“Our company could not, in good conscience, continue to manufacture our products in a state where law-abiding citizens are prohibited from purchasing and owning them. ” Fitzpatrick said. “The passage of this bill will do nothing to enhance public safety, but will force us to immediately begin taking our business to another state.”

A proponent of the bill argued that with the amendment language, the choice to stay or leave was up to Magpul. Fitzpatrick responded, “Our relationship with our customers across the country would be severely damaged if this bill passes and we stay. We’ve already heard word of potential boycotts if that happens. They (legislators) really need to understand that our customer base is as passionate about freedoms as we are, and staying here if this bill passes would cripple the company. Make no doubt about it…we have no choice, and would be forced to leave in order to save the business.”

Magpul cited the example of the Eastern Sports and Outdoors Show, which was canceled earlier this year after the organizers announced that it would not permit a popular category of firearm, like the ones Magpul makes accessories for, in the show. Public outcry from the customer base forced exhibitors to withdraw from participation, causing the cancellation of the show, and an estimated loss of $70 million of show revenue for hotels, restaurants, merchants, and other businesses in Pennsylvania, where the show was to be held.

Magpul Industries directly employs 200 people, supports another 400 supply-chain jobs, and contributes over $85 million annually to Colorado’s economy. Doug Smith, Chief Operating Officer for Magpul, says that it is a difficult position to be in. “We could choose to stay in a state that wants our jobs and revenue, but not our products, and lose half the jobs we are fighting to save, or potentially the entire business, when our customers stop buying. Or, we can take the company and those 600 jobs out of Colorado to continue our growth and the growth of American manufacturing in a state that shares our values. This is not really a choice. It’s an unfortunate and inevitable result of the actions of the Legislature if this bill passes.”

Magpul was started over a decade ago by Fitzpatrick, a former U.S. Marine. It has become one of Colorado’s fastest growing businesses, successfully marketing its products to American and allied military forces, police departments, sporting goods stores, and thousands of responsible private citizens. Fitzpatrick says that the rich western culture and strong values of individual freedom and responsibility, traditionally found in Colorado, were one of the reasons the company chose to remain in the state.

“It is heartbreaking to me, my employees, and their families, to think that we will be forced to leave,” Fitzpatrick said. “But if HB13-1224 passes, we will simply have no choice.”

Gladius Soldier System, formerly known as Infanterist der Zukunft (IdZ 2) was developed by Düsseldorf’s Rheinmetall Group. The system integrates command and control (C2) mobility, soldier, weapons and weapon accessories into a seamless and networkable fabric. Gladius has been in place with the Bundeswehr since 2012 with considerable success. The German Army will expand its procurement in 2013 with an additional €84 million order; enough to outfit an additional 600 troop.

Olympic Arms is a staunch believer in and defender of the Constitution of the United States, and with special attention paid to the Bill of Rights that succinctly enumerates the security of our Divinely given Rights. One of those Rights is that to Keep and Bear Arms.

Legislation recently passed in the State of New York outlaws the AR15 and many other firearms, and will make it illegal for the good and free citizens of New York to own a large selection of legal and safe firearms and magazines. We feel as though the passage of this legislation exceeds the authority granted to the government of New York by its citizens, and violates the Constitution of the United States, ignoring such SCOTUS rulings as District of Columbia v. Heller – 554, U.S. 570 of 2008, McDonald v. Chicago – 561 U.S. 3025 of 2010, and specifically the case of United States v. Miller – 307 U.S. 174 of 1939.

Due the passing of this legislation, Olympic Arms would like to announce that the State of New York, any Law Enforcement Departments, Law Enforcement Officers, First Responders within the State of New York, or any New York State government entity or employee of such an entity – will no longer be served as customers.

In short, Olympic Arms will no longer be doing business with the State of New York or any governmental entity or employee of such governmental entity within the State of New York – henceforth and until such legislation is repealed, and an apology made to the good people of the State of New York and the American people.

If the leaders of the State of New York are willing to limit the right of the free and law abiding citizens of New York to arm themselves as they see fit under the Rights enumerate to all citizens of the United State through the Second Amendment, we feel as though the legislators and government entities within the State of New York should have to abide by the same restrictions.

This action has caused a division of the people into classes: Those the government deems valuable enough to protect with modern firearms, and those whose lives have been deemed as having less value, and whom the government has decided do not deserve the right to protect themselves with the same firearms. Olympic Arms will not support such behavior or policy against any citizen of this great nation.

Olympic Arms invites all firearms manufacturers, distributors and firearms dealers to join us in this action to refuse to do business with the State of New York. We must stand together, or we shall surely fall divided.

The Shooter By Phil Bronstein…

I want to thank Rob Curtis of Military Time’s Gear Scout for posting an animated video of Phil Bronstein’s story, The Shooter. The story was produced in conjunction with the Center for Investigative Reporting.

Every precaution was taken to ensure the privacy and security of Bronstein’s subject, the Navy SEAL who killed  Usama Bin Ladin. It’s a great piece that doesn’t simply retell the events of that night in Abbottabad Pakistan, but elegantly reveals the fears, thoughts and concerns of a tier 1 operator and former Navy Seal.

Elbit Systems and Boeing Announce Directed IR Countermeasures Systems For Boeing Platforms.

UN_DIRCM for BOEING PlatformsOf major concern to aircraft, be it military or commercial, is the threat of Man-portable Air Defense Systems or MPADS. These anti-aircraft missiles are easily transported and can be fired from anywhere with a high degree of success.

The companies will offer Elbit Systems’ Directed Infrared Counter Measure (DIRCM) systems for a range of Boeing military fixed-wing and vertical-lift aircraft. The Elbit DIRCM family of systems, are produced by Elbit Systems, a’ wholly owned subsidiary Elbit Systems Electro-optics ELOP Ltd. DIRCMs are lightweight, compact systems designed to protect aircraft from common battlefield threats.

Boeing’s Network & Space Systems and Boeing Military Aircraft are working together to integrate the systems on new and existing aircraft, as well as to provide signature analysis and end-to-end services and support.

A Call For Help From Magpul Industries To All Colorado Residents

 

In addition to the national battle to protect our firearms rights, many states are currently engaged in their own fights. Here in CO, a state with a strong heritage of firearm and other personal freedoms, we are facing some extreme challenges to firearms rights. We have been engaged in dialogue with legislators here presenting our arguments to stop legislation from even being introduced, but our efforts did not deter those of extreme views.

After the NRAs visit last week, several anti-freedom bills were introduced by CO legislators, and a very aggressive timeline has been set forth in moving these bills forward.

The bills include:

  1. HB 1229, Background checks for Gun Transfers–a measure to prohibit private sales between CO residents, and instead require a full FFL transfer, including a 4473.
  2. HB 1228, Payment for Background Checks for Gun Transfers– a measure that would require CO residents to pay for the back logged state-run CBI system (currently taking 3 times the federally mandated wait time for checks to occur) instead of using the free federal NICS checks.
  3. And finally, HB 1224, Prohibiting Large Capacity Ammunition Magazines–a measure that bans the possession, sale, or transfer of magazines over 10 round capacity. The measures and stipulations in this bill would deprive CO residents of the value of their private property by prohibiting the sale or transfer of all magazines over 10 rounds. This bill would also prohibit manufacture of magazines greater than 10 rounds for commercial sale out of the state, and place restrictions on the manufacture of military and law enforcement magazines that would cripple production.

We’d like to ask all CO residents to please contact your state legislators and the members of the Judiciary Committee and urge them to kill these measures in committee, and to vote NO if they reach the floor.

We also ask you to show your support for the 2nd Amendment at the Capitol on Tuesday, Feb 12, for the magazine ban committee hearing and Wednesday,
Feb 13, for the hearing on the other measures.

Due to the highly restrictive language in HB 1224, if passed, and we remained here, this measure would require us to cease PMAG production on July 1, 2013.

In short, Magpul would be unable to remain in business as a CO company, and the over 200 jobs for direct employees and nearly 700 jobs at our subcontractors and suppliers would pick up and leave CO. Due to the structure of our operations, this would be entirely possible, hopefully without significant disruption to production.

The legislators drafting these measures do so in spite of the fact that nothing they are proposing will do anything to even marginally improve public safety in CO, and in fact, will leave law-abiding CO residents less able to defend themselves, strip away rights and property from residents who have done nothing wrong, and send nearly 1000 jobs and millions in tax revenue out of the state.

We like CO, we want to continue to operate in CO, but most of all, we want CO to remain FREE.
