GLOCK Introduces the Long-Awaited 5th Generation (OFFICIAL)

Gen5 Family

SMYRNA, GA. – Aug 30, 2017 GLOCK, Inc., introduced a new generation of confidence today with the launch of the G19 Gen5 and G17 Gen5 pistols.  The Gen5 pistols feature over twenty design changes which distinguish them from their Gen4 predecessors.

“The development of our Gen5 pistols was the result of the constant pursuit of perfection and a desire to meet the requests of the consumer market,” said GLOCK, Inc. VP Josh Dorsey.  “We have combined the standards of high-level performance and reliability with distinctive design enhancements to improve durability, accuracy, and performance.  The benefits enhance the shooter experience at the range and in high-stress situations where fractions of a second matter.”

The Gen5 pistols are a variation of the M pistol used by the FBI.  Through rigorous testing and development, GLOCK has combined the historical reliability and trust in the brand with precisely engineered design changes to meet the demand of consumers world-wide.

Among the design changes are five key features.  The GLOCK Marksman Barrel (GMB) utilizes new barrel rifling to deliver improved accuracy.  The removal of the finger grooves and an added ambidextrous slide stop delivers improved control and flexibility.  The nDLC finish is a tougher and more durable finish that is exclusive to the GLOCK manufacturing process.  Introduction of a flared mag-well increases performance by making it easier to funnel the magazine into the mag-well, particularly in high-stress situations.

The roots of the Gen5 pistols lie in a request by Federal Law Enforcement for a new service pistol.  “Our goal was to meet the demanding needs of law enforcement agencies while maintaining our standard of perfection,” said VP Josh Dorsey.  “Once the pistols we submitted proved themselves in testing and were adopted, consumers began asking for those pistols.  The Gen5 pistols we are introducing today meet that demand.”

Firearms Industry Donates $25,000 to Fraternal Order of Police Foundation in Honor of Fallen Officers

NEWTOWN, Conn. — The National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®), the trade association for the firearms industry, is honoring the nation’s fallen law enforcement officers by contributing $25,000 to the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Foundation. The donation was announced at the organization’s 63rd biennial national conference.

“The consistent strong support of the NSSF is invaluable in our effort to ensure that officers killed in the line of duty are never forgotten and that their families are always cared for,” FOP President Chuck Canterbury said.

“Members of the firearms industry are proud to stand with the brave men and women of law enforcement across this great nation who every day put their lives on the line to serve and protect our citizens,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF senior vice president and general counsel. “As a former prosecutor and son of a New York City policeman, I am especially thankful for the opportunity to have our industry contribute to this worthy cause.”

The ongoing professional relationship between law enforcement and NSSF members extends well beyond the purchasing of firearms, ammunition and related products. NSSF has long partnered with law enforcement on programs to curb the criminal acquisition and misuse of firearms and to encourage the safe handling and storage of firearms. Programs include

  • “Don’t Lie for the Other Guy”, the firearms industry’s anti-straw purchasing campaign that has both retailer education and public awareness components.
  • NSSF’s matching rewards program with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved in thefts from firearms retailers.
  • Project ChildSafe supplies police departments with firearm safety kits for distribution in their communities. More than 39 million kits, which include a free firearm lock, have been handed out through 15,000 law enforcement organizations.

Firearms manufacturers have long recognized the importance of giving back to the law enforcement community — a community that is an important and growing segment of the firearms industry market. The law enforcement segment of the NSSF-owned and sponsored Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show represents 28 percent of the show’s floor space at nearly 180,000 square feet. If the segment were broken out as a stand-alone show, it would be the largest law enforcement show in the country.

‘Back the Blue’ Training Event Empowers Female LEOs

AUSTIN, TX — A Girl & A Gun (AG & AG) hosted a training for female law enforcement on August 9-11, 2017, at the American Police Hall of Fame in Titusville, FL. Participants included five law enforcement officers (LEOs), one spouse of a LEO, and two civilians.

In July 2016 AG & AG launched the “Back the Women in Blue” campaign in which club members purchased t-shirts benefiting officers’ training. With significant support from GLOCK, ammunition from Federal Premium, additional support from Tuff Products, and facility fees from the American Police Hall of Fame, AG & AG was able to provide the firearms training, hotel and some travel accommodations, and all meals for the officers.

“This was an extremely gratifying training focusing and elaborating on safety, fundamentals, and mindset,” said Officer Meghan Vold of the Park Forest (IL) Police Department. “As a female LEO/student I left with more confidence, empowerment, tactics, friendships, and unbreakable bonds. A Girl & A Gun is a tremendous training environment to enjoy trigger-time in an accepting, fun, motivating, and inspirational atmosphere.”

The 2.5-day training course was conducted by Heather Eckert, a civilian subject matter expert who holds multiple law enforcement and civilian training certifications, including Texas DPS Level III Firearms and Classroom Instructor. Topics included presentations on verbal judo, fit for duty, mindset, and body language recognition that the officers found very beneficial as a refresher from learning it in the academy, as well as live-fire instruction on the range and simulated situational scenarios with equipment from Tactical Preparation USA.

AG & AG is planning to offer additional training events for female officers, as well as a training course designed specifically for wives of LEOs, whose lives face uncertain dangers due to the nature of their spouses’ careers. For more information, visit AGirlandAGun.org/back-the-blue.

GLOCK 17 and 19 Gen 5 Variants

Cyberspace is buzzing with news of the Glock Gen 5 pistols; although, there’s been no formal announcement by the company. There’s also suggestions that availability will be end of August 2017,  but like all things Glock (a more realistic, I can go to my dealer and find one I can touch) is probably 6 months out. So, my anchor pool pick for $5 is Q1 2018. We’ll see!

Meanwhile, the folks at Guns America produced a great video review of the G17 Gen 5 and G19 Gen 5. To me, the most interesting development is Glock’s move away from the polygonal barrel. It’ll be interesting to see what the incremental improvement in accuracy is or is the Gen 5 a targeted U.S. market product.

Competitive Shooting with Robert Vogel, Not Just a Game.

Robert Vogel is a professional marksman, competition shooter, and National/World champion. He is the only Law Enforcement Officer ever to win World and National Championships in the Practical Pistol Disciplines of IPSC, IDPA and USPSA.

Robert was born and raised on a farm in rural Saint Mary’s, Ohio where he became heavily involved in shooting, hunting and the outdoors from a very young age. After graduating high school he went immediately into a 2-year Police Academy program. It was also at this time that he began competing in practical shooting competitions. Fast forward a couple decades and at present Robert is now a 3-time world champion and 23-time national champion across 3 disciplines of practical/combat shooting and has been all over the World competing and teaching.  Besides this, he has been a Police Officer for over 13 years. Eight and a half of those years were spent as a full-time street cop while also being a member of the county’s joint-department SWAT team. During that tenure he also served as a firearm instructor for both the department and the SWAT team.

Bergara Rifles at the Forefront of the Creedmoor Revolution

B-14 HMR (offered in 6.5 Creedmoor)

Lawrenceville, Ga. (August 2017) – There’s a new caliber on the block and it’s quickly taking over the rifle scene. In fact, in 2017 nearly every company that introduced a new long gun did so in 6.5 Creedmoor. And why not? It shoots flatter, has lighter recoil, cuts through the wind better and is just flat out more accurate than its predecessor, the venerable .308. It’s basically a do-anything cartridge that excels at hunting, long range shooting, in a bolt gun, an AR and a chassis rifle. Yes, the 6.5 Creedmoor revolution is here and Bergara Rifles is and has been at the forefront. While it’s a testament to the impressiveness of the caliber that most companies now offer a 6.5 Creedmoor long rifle, the truth of the matter is that many of them were late to the game, whereas Bergara has been offering its rifles in 6.5 Creedmoor since it first opened its doors in 2012. In fact, the 6.5 Creedmoor is offered in all rifle models that Bergara produces, allowing its customers to have a wide selection of rifles for their specific shooting application. Its customers have taken notice and Bergara’s 6.5 Creedmoor rifles are so popular that it is selling them at a 10:1 ratio versus its other calibers.

Bergara Premier Series Long Range Rifle offered in 6mm Creedmoor

Not content to rest on its laurels, Bergara is constantly trying to stay ahead of the curve. While the 6.5 Creedmoor has finally achieved widespread acceptance among most rifle makers, there’s a new descendent of the round that’s making waves in the Precision Rifle Series community: the 6mm Creedmoor. And why? Because, the 6mm is even faster than the 6.5, shoots flatter and has less recoil. In fact, it’s used by more of the top 50 PRS shooters than any other round, including the 6.5 Creedmoor and Bergara has taken notice. It currently offers its LRP, LRP Elite, Premier Long range and custom series in the 6mm Creedmoor. Many rifle makers don’t even offer a rifle in 6mm yet.

“At Bergara, we’re not afraid to innovate and take risks and it shows in our rifles, which offer incredible build quality, fit and finish, all at a price that gives precision shooters great bang for their buck. On top of that, we’re always looking around the corner to see what’s next. We’re nowhere close to done yet, we’ve got a lot planned and I really think you’ll be excited to see what we roll out with next,” said Ben Fleming, VP of sales and marketing for Bergara Rifles.

ZOMBIES, SPORTS, BASEBALL BATS, MONUMENTS and BOOKS

TGIF readers, we’ve made it through another week, and what a week it was. It’s also time for our shoot the shit. This week I’ll start by sharing a life experience followed by the ESPN extravaganza, monuments and closing with Hillary Clinton’s book excerpts.

I had to make a trip to the bank this week. I arrived about 10 minutes prior to the branch opening; however, the lobby was open and occupied by 11 people,  all available seating was taken so I stood in front of the elevator. I was overcome by the fact that everyone was totally silent and void of sings of viable neural function. So, I commented on how everyone looked so somber and offered to do my Arnold Schwarzenegger impersonation – it’s a damned good impersonation; this produced absolutely no reaction, no smiles, no boos, or comment. They only stared in my direction. I turned around and found that I was standing in front of a sign advertising a teller / personal banker group interview – are you kidding me! So, what the hell is a group interview? Interesting to note was the number of applicants lined up to be group interviewed. This is what economists call an indicator.

920x920ESPN blows me away and if I were CEO, I wouldn’t be making public excuses for Robert Lee’s reassignment, I’d be trying to find out how many idiots I have working in my organization. I also have a little bone to pick with the fine folks at ESPN but first I’ll recap the incident for readers unfamiliar with the Robert Lee debacle.

Robert Lee, a college ball ESPN commentator, was scheduled to cover a University of Virginia game, in Charlottesville,  on 2 September for ESPN. Lee, a Chinese American, was reassigned because his name is coincidentally the same as General Robert E. Lee.

$_57Over the weekend, I found myself at a local book store looking through the magazine rack to pick up a copy of RECOIL. Next to me, was a young boy and his dad who apparently recognized Javier Baez, in the buff, on the cover of ESPN magazine. The little kid was asking his dad how come the Chicago Cub’s player was naked.

Now, it’s been my life experience that successful athletes enjoy being positive role models for young men and women. Kids imitate and look up to them and I’ll bet you dollars to doughnuts that Javier feels the same way. So, this magazine cover does not flatter Javier, but it does show very poor taste on ESPN’s part. I propose that a more suitable cover could be ADELANTE Magazine’s  not a sports publication.

On the lighter side it also reminds me of USN LTJG Dennis King’s theorem on bat sizes. LTJG King articulates that a bat in the hands of a small man will always look larger than the same bat in the hands of a big guy; he stops short of saying that its real number value  is what counts!

Now for monuments!

This movement has nothing to do with slavery and everything to do with the imposition of one man’s will over the other. It’s, at least in my non-legal mind, a First Amendment infringement of the monument sponsors’ rights. Being offended is part of life; the way I deal with it is avoidance not hard and certainly a more mature approach. This is where we’re at circa 2016.

We are offended by historical monuments that have been in place for nearly a century, we are offended by public displays of nativity scenes, we are offended by public displays of a Cross or Star of David, we are also offended by conservative speakers, we are offended by displays of patriotism and we’re also offended by our flag. So, I’d like to close my comments by saying that we are fortunate enough to live in a country where the door swings both ways, and if you’re so deeply offended by these things that you can’t simply ignore them, perhaps the logical alternative is to find a more accommodating society elsewhere.

Secretary Clinton has a new book, hitting the shelves in September, titled “What Happened.” Audio excerpts from her book were released in which she expresses her discomfort with President Trump during a debate saying;

“…he was literally breathing down my neck, my skin crawled; it was one of those moments where you wish you could hit pause and ask everyone watching, well what would you do. Do you stay calm, keep smiling, carry on as if he weren’t repeatedly invading your space or do you turn look at him in the eye and say loudly and clearly back up you creep”

We decided to take a stab at rewriting her passage as if Susan Johnson, author of Forbidden, a classic erotic novel. So, here we go.

I new he was a libertine with a voracious appetite. He demonstrated his desire breathing down my neck. My skin crawled with anticipation but I knew the time and place was not right. I thought, do I hit the pause button or fold like an old T-shirt and let him have his way with me. If you were watching what could you do? Would you turn and call him a creep.

Please have a great weekend and let us hear from you! Be safe, especially you folks in the Texas panhandle. Leave the hurricane party until it’s over and get you and your family to safety.

HOGUE INC ANNOUNCES THEIR FIXED MAGAZINE SOLUTION: THE FREEDOM FIGHTER™

imageHenderson, NV – Hogue Incorporated is proud to announce the Freedom Fighter, their AR-15 fixed magazine solution. “Many shooters are desiring a way to convert their AR to a fixed magazine,” said Hogue owner Patrick Hogue. “When installed properly, the Freedom Fighter blocks the magazine release until the rear pin is removed and the upper receiver is lifted upward and away from the lower receiver.”
The Freedom Fighter contains a drill jig, drill bits, bushings, springs, pins and the set screws necessary for three installations. To ensure proper operation, a qualified gunsmith is
recommended for installation as modification to the firearm is required. When the jig is inserted into the mag well a hole is drilled into the lower receiver creating a tunnel to accommodate the Freedom Fighter plunger pin and spring. The pin is retained with a set screw. Once the rifle is reassembled with the Freedom Fighter installed, the pin will not allow the mag catch to operate
unless the upper receiver is swung open putting the firearm in a “disassembled” configuration.
The patent-pending Hogue Freedom Fighter will keep your firearm looking completely original after conversion. Once installed, it is simple to return the firearm to detachable magazine capability. The Freedom Fighter has an MSRP of $49.95 with a refill kit for three additional installations available for $29.95. The installation video is viewable at http://www.hogueinc.com.
All Hogue products are manufactured in family-owned and operated facilities under the direct supervision of the Hogue family. Hogue, Inc. supports local dealers and encourages customers to purchase Hogue products locally. For more information please call Hogue directly at 1-800-438-4747 or visit www.hogueinc.com to find a Hogue dealer near you.

NFA Industry CEO’s work with ATF to Streamline the Form 4 Application Process

c9f7dbcd-5075-403d-aad7-e8d2f3e9b80b

Dead Air Armament™, Gemtech, Silencer Shop, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) assist in the implementation of a streamlined process creating better efficiencies for both the agency and consumers alike.

Washington, D.C. (August 2017) – Firearms industry representatives met with members of the ATF in Washington D.C. to confirm the adoption of an industry developed processing technology designed to streamline the current NFA transfer system. Several weeks ago, a working group of industry representatives including the CEO’s of Dead Air Silencers, Gemtech,Silencer Shop, plus several senior ATF representatives successfully pilot tested a new barcode system and form generator which grossly reduces data entry processing delays and provides virtual error free data exchange between dealers and the NFA processing center.

The new “barcode system” has been approved to take immediate effect. ATF has already acquired the systems hardware and the form generating system is accessible on the represented manufacturers’ websites at this time and can be made available at no cost to any other interested industry members. The system can be used by dealers to generate a barcoded Form 4 for the transfer of any NFA products.

Here is how it works, a dealer simply logs on to any participating industry member’s website, including the respective websites for Dead Air, Gemtech, or Silencer Shop to complete a customer’s Form 4 using the form generator. The form generator pulls data from several different data sources and auto-populates the correct FFL number, address, etc., without additional input from the dealer. The buyer’s information and product information are then entered by the dealer and the form is printed. The printed copies will feature a 2D barcode on the ATF’s copy of the generated form(s). All of the information contained in the Form 4 is encapsulated in the barcode itself. None of this information is transmitted, saved, or otherwise accessible to any of the supporting industry members.

Once the barcoded form is received by the NFA processing center, it is scanned into ATF’s system. This new process requires only seconds and has virtually no error rate. In adopting the new system, ATF will have cut significant resources typically required for data entry that can be focused on other parts of the NFA process. (Forms previously spent anywhere from a couple of weeks to several months waiting for data entry.) The new barcode system will benefit both ATF processing and consumer wait-times without requiring additional manpower or substantial hardware upgrades.

The adoption of this new system would not have been possible but for the assistance and cooperation of the ATF. Accordingly, the industry representatives involved would like to extend our special thanks to ATF for their hard work and effort in making this new system a reality.

Secure Outcomes LS/GunSmoke™ Fingerprinting System Integral Part of the New High Speed NFA Barcode-Based Transfer System Announced Today by ATF

Secure Outcomes’ LS/GunSmoke™ fingerprint system provides Class III firearms dealers with a fully integrated easy to use solution to collect fingerprint/photo information to meet compliance requirements for Class III NFA purchases.LS/GunSmoke supports the new ATF barcode system and form generator for Form 4 application processing that was announced today.

Evergreen, Colo. (August, 18 2017) Secure Outcomes, a leading designer and producer of digital livescan fingerprinting systems for Class III firearms dealers, has worked closely with firearms manufacturers and retailers to help dramatically streamline the old National Firearms Act (NFA) transfer process system.

As part of the new processing framework product launch, Secure Outcomes is providing 25 of its LS/GunSmoke™ digital fingerprinting units to an initial qualified group of Dead Air Class III firearms dealers.

Dead Air, Gemtech and Silencer Shop, prominent Class III firearms manufacturers/distributors, presented the new proposed barcode system and form generator to the ATF to significantly reduce the delays previously encountered in the NFA processing system.

Secure Outcomes’ LS/GunSmoke™ system supplies Class III firearms dealers and manufacturers a complete integrated package of fingerprinting capabilities that meet both the new ATF barcode transfer processing and the Rule 41F requirements for Class III firearms dealers.

Since product launch, over sixty Class III firearms dealers in almost every state have purchased and are using LS/GunSmoke systems.

The main benefit that LS/GunSmoke provides to dealers and their customers is to provide a one-stop integrated package with the new ATF bar-coding system to dramatically reduce by six to eight months the previous wait time of the ATF approval process.

Dealers can log into any of the Dead Air, Gemtech or Silencer Shop web sites and click the link to complete a customer’s Form 4 using the new free form generator, which quickly populates the form with the customer’s information and choice of product.

The LS/GunSmoke system fast scans the customer fingerprints and takes and prints the required photograph. The dealer sends the printed bar-coded form with the Secure Outcomes information to the ATF for the new fast processing.

Jack Harper, Secure Outcomes president, said, “I believe firearms dealers that use the Secure Outcomes LS/GunSmoke system with the new bar-coding will see significant competitive advantages that will build greater market share for them with the terrific decrease in ATF approval time from almost a year down to just a couple of months. I see customers flocking to those dealers.”

Harper further stated, “We are especially happy to have been working with top quality manufacturers such as Dead Air on this.”

Secure Outcomes designed the LS/GunSmoke system to supply firearms dealers and manufacturers a complete integrated package of fingerprinting capabilities that meet both the new ATF barcode transfer processing and the Rule 41F requirements for Class III firearms dealers. LS/GunSmoke also meets the needs of states that require in-class fingerprinting for concealed carry / CCW classes.

The LS/GunSmoke handles everything for the firearms dealer/concealed carry instructor including automatic self-scoring/grading of the fingerprints to FBI standards to virtually eliminate card rejects from federal/state authorities.

LS/GunSmoke also includes the integrated ability to take and print 2″x 2″ passport style color photographs required by ATF and can optionally collect and store digital customer signatures for repeat purchase processing.

Secure Outcomes customers experience superior 24/7/365 customer service all year, every day, any hour, even with out of warranty products. Secure Outcomes never abandons its customers!

The LS/GunSmoke includes full software/hardware warranty for one-year, software updates, training, a reference video DVD as well as optional on-site training.

LS/GunSmoke systems arrive fully configured and ready to go right out of the box.

In addition, when ATF accepts digital information transmissions, Secure Outcomes guarantees that current owners of the LS/GunSmoke system will be able to upgrade to digital transmission to ATF at no charge.

Shame On You Media!

Image result for Shame on youIf there was ever a week for a good shoot the shit it’s this week. First, we have a genetic defect deciding to drive his vehicle into a crowd at Charlottesville, VA killing an innocent young lady. Next, we have a media that went absolutely ape shit over President Trumps comments with regards to the Charlottesville incident. If that wasn’t enough we watched the attacks in Barcelona and other southern Spain locations.

Even if you feel that you need to see a therapist to help you process all this, keep in mind that you will be paying some jackass $150 or more who’s only reason for studying psychology was their need to understand themselves and couldn’t get through Calculus I. That should tell you all you need to know. We, instead, allow you to make any unsupported statement, use uncensored profanity, insult anyone you wish or change the subject altogether at no charge!

This week, we’d like to share our impressions of President Trump’s comments regarding Charlottesville.

The media has be extraordinarily unfair to this President. The problem appears to be his lack of political sophistication, which by the way is not a Constitutional requirement for eligibility to be President. This is all compounded by the fact that Donald J. Trump calls them as he sees them, without his point being clouded by any perception of public disapproval. This may represent an opportunity for you to misrepresent and mischaracterize comments lacking eloquence, but it’s a national disservice to your readers or audience.

It appears the media will have you think that Donald Trump is responsible for Neo Nazis, KKK, white supremacists, skin heads et al. ; however, the reality is that these hate groups have existed in our society through every administration, J.F. Kennedy, LBJ, etc., this is a fact. All of these organizations, including Black Panthers and  Students for Democratic Society (SDS) were radical and have been prosecuted for acts of violence, but all were allowed to march and protest peacefully without prosecution., their Constitutional right regardless of how sick their ideology is. None, even marginally, is representative of American and its people.

I’ve gone through President Trump’s three statements regarding the Charlottesville VA. incident. I’ve done that several times and came away with the following impressions. All three lack political finesse but none endorse, or promote, radicalism for any political ideology.

His first comment condemned  violence on both sides of the protest. My question to the media is simply this. Would you support a violent clash between a pro life group and a pro choice group? Each of them has a right to express their views peacefully, as guaranteed by our Constitution. Trump was simply condemning violence on all sides. He then continues by saying that some of the people present were folks desiring to do nothing more than protest peacefully, so I’m not sure what part of that statement the media found problematic and I would certainly like to see evidence that his comment was inaccurate.

In his second statement, he repeats his condemnation of violence and once again acknowledges that not all protest participants were in Charlottesville to be violent. He closes by a resounding condemnation of the KKK, Neo Nazis, White Supremacists, the only thing he did not do is order their execution. However, actions speak louder than words and we see that once  facts begin to surface his AG initiated a civil rights investigation.

His third statement was a restatement of the first and second statement. So, here is what responsible media members should be asking colleagues: can you identify specifically what language in the President’s comments indicate support of the KKK, Neo Nazis or White Supremacists, and where do you see an  inclination on the President’s part to be supportive of these groups?

Donald J. Trump does not speak in iambic pentameter; he is as apolitical as any President I’ve ever seen; he speaks his mind, without moderating ideas by what others think and as I’ve mentioned earlier, none of which are Constitutional requirements to the Presidency.

What’s been done by the media this week is a national embarrassment and nothing more than sensationalism.

Okay, let us know what you think? Have a great weekend be safe and enjoy quality time with your buds and family.

LG497

(Wilsonville, OR)— Crimson Trace®, recognized as America’s top brand of laser sights in a recent Southwick Associates industry survey, is now manufacturing two new Laserguard® laser sights: The LG-497 with red laser diode, and the LG-497G with green laser diode. Both laser sights are designed for a precision fit onto Ruger’s popular LCP® II compact semi-auto pistol. These Laserguard laser sights are also offered in special packages with holsters that are designed to secure the firearm with the laser sight installed. These new Crimson Trace Laserguard laser sights for the Ruger LCP II pistol can be easily adjusted for windage and elevation. These new laser sights are easy to install and maintain (owner’s manual is included in packaging and also available on the company’s website), plus these laser sights are covered under Crimson Trace’s innovative Free Batteries for Life Program.

Like all Crimson Trace Laserguard laser sights, these new products feature the company’s award-winning and patented Instinctive ActivationTM firearm laser technology, designed to activate the laser sight when the firearm is held with a normal firing grip and when the user is ready to fire.  Instinctive Activation, a common consumer demand, is one of the many reasons that Crimson Trace is a leader in the firearms laser sight market.

Released in 2007, Crimson Trace Laserguard laser sights incorporate either a red or green laser diode within a sturdy and compact housing that’s simple to install onto the pistol’s trigger guard. The necessary installation screws, plus battery for operation, are included in the product packaging. Some other laser sight manufacturers require the additional purchase of tools and batteries after purchasing the product or offer their products only with green lasers.

STREAMLIGHT BANDIT

20170815_113023

At SHOT SHOW 2017 Streamlight introduced a number of new tactical and general lighting products most of which were USB rechargeable or dual-fuel; among that new lineup  was Streamlight’s micro headlamp the BANDIT.

The BANDIT is a 1.4 oz. handsfree, directed illumination lamp that offers just about all of the same features as the “tactical” headlamps at a street price you won’t believe.

Streamlight had their thinking caps on when they introduced this tiny little gem, and here’s why.

First, the BANDIT is so light you’ll forget you have it on. Second, the user has three easily accessible modes of operation; low, high and flash. On low, you have 35 lumens of a flood with a run time of  about 9.5 hours. This is ideal for many of the tasks one could perform better with a little light; for example, installing the G conversion on your Beretta 92/96 or eating in the dark. On high, you 20170815_112723_1have a bright 180 lumens with a run time of 2 hours. High is ideal for your basic recreational land navigation at your campsite or the beach. Holding the multi-function push button down for 3 seconds gets you into the flashing mode; here, the BANDIT pulses at a repetition rate of approximately 2 per seconds, so it’s a good locator beacon or emergency signal. All of these functions are easily accessible through the multi-function push button located at the top of the headlamp body.

20170815_114239The BANDIT ships preconfigured in the try me mode so you’ll need to fully charge the headlamp to disable Try Me. Charging takes about two hours and it’s as simple as connecting the supplied USB charging cable to your USB port. The multi-function push button is illuminated with red indicating charging, and green when the charge is complete. All very straight forward!

Wearing the BANDIT is accomplished in one of two ways. First and more conventional is with the 20170815_113139included headband. Streamlight even lets you choose what color headband you’ll display, yellow or black. The second approach is with the included hat clip which allows you to wear the BANDIT on your ball cap. The clip articulates a full 180 degrees and will also attach to MOLLE so if you want to wear it on your vest you’ll be able to do that as well.

In closing, Streamlight’s BANDIT is one of those tools that will never outlive its utility. It’s inexpensive, available in a Yellow or Black body, multi-function, multi-role, rechargeable and takes up little or no room. You’ll want to take a closer look at the BANDIT, but at a street price of $20 or less check two out, it’s money well spent!

Cathy Winstead-Severin breaks National Records using PROOF Research Barrel

Columbia Falls, MT. (August 2017) Less than three weeks after winning the NRA National Silhouette title-and then going on to win both the Standard and Hunter High Power Rifle Silhouette Championships at Ridgway Rifle Club in Pennsylvania-Cathy Winstead-Severin, a Team Lapua shooter, dominated north of the border, taking the Canadian NFA National Smallbore Silhouette Championship. On her rifle for the large-bore competitions (Standard and Hunter class) was a PROOF Research medium contour, cut-rifled steel barrel chambered in 6mmBR.

“I swept all four guns in the U.S., and then I swept all four in Canada,” Winstead-Severin said of her recent victories. “It’s kind of surreal, me being at the top of my game and having everything come together for so many matches.”

This is Winstead-Severin’s first year shooting a PROOF barrel, but she said it was a good match from the very beginning. In fact, since switching to PROOF, she’s done nothing but rack up championships.

“I debuted it in Montana, up in Missoula, and we shot the Iron Man,” she explained. “I shot three new national records up there on its debut, and I believe I got five new national records with it at the U.S. Nationals, so in its first summer, I set eight new national records.”

Her Canadian victory marked the end of the season for Winstead-Severin until next year, when she will no doubt begin collecting wins once again.

“Cathy is a great brand ambassador for our product,” said PROOF Research Chief Marketing Officer Derek McDonald. “We are proud of her accomplishments and excited to have contributed to her success by providing world-class gear that enabled her to translate her phenomenal shooting skills into wins.”
