SIG SAUER TANGO6 1-6×24 Riflescope Selected for US Army Squad Designated Marksman Rifle

Newington, N.H. (May 11, 2018) – The US Army has announced its selection of SIG SAUER’s TANGO6 1-6×24 riflescope for their Squad Designated Marksman Rifle (SDMR). The optic is the final component to be selected for the complete SDMR system that will be put into service for the US Army’s Designated Marksmen.

The TANGO6 1-6X24 SDMR optic is a variant of SIG SAUER Electro-Optics commercially available TANGO6.

The new models unveiled include the MSR 15 Long Range and MSR 15 300 Blackout Pistol, along with the Rascal FV-SR, Rascal Target and Rascal Target XP.
The MSR 15 Long Range is built to with a 22-inch stainless steel barrel deliver pinpoint precision at any distance. Savage engineers tuned barrel length specifically for the 224 Valkyrie cartridge to achieve peak accuracy at extreme range. The MSR 15 Long Range barrel is also topped with a two-port muzzle brake mounted with Savage’s proprietary taper-lock interface. The brake allows shooters to adjust recoil impulse and stabilize the muzzle for faster, more accurate follow-up shots.
The MSR 15 Long Range also features a custom-length gas system, paired with a low-profile adjustable gas block, that is enclosed by a true free-float handguard. The gas block can be adjusted for optimum cycling of the full range of bullet weights and tuned for use with a suppressor.

A Snake or Attorney General ?

It’s Friday and time for our almost weekly shoot the shit. I hope you all had a productive and uneventful week. For our new readers, a shoot the shit is a social event where we present topics that are either humorous, outrageous or informative. As readers, you don’t need to know a thing about the topic and you’re free to make totally uninformed comments without any support, you can also use uncensored profanity, insult anyone you wish or change the subject altogether. This is precisely what a psychologist charges you $150+ per hour; we on the other hand offer the same at no charge and we don’t care if you are in denial. So let’s get started.

It’s been an interesting week.

For starters, we saw New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman step down amidst allegations of sexual abuse. Apparently, Mr. Schneiderman was a slapper, spitter, choker, abuser and sex slave master.

One of the women that came forward, Tanya Selvaratnam, a Sri Lankan woman who used to date Schneiderman, would slap her during sex until she called him “Master.” KINCKY! Reportedly he was consumed by threesome fantasies and would ask his ladies to line another woman up for some playtime!

A psychologist or psychiatrist (a psychologist who at least made it through medical school) would immediately look at Mr. Schneiderman as “having a small man complex.” LOL!

Mr. Schneiderman resigned 24 hours after the New Yorker published the allegations. Governor Cuomo, who has higher political aspirations, may have had a come to Jesus meeting with AG Schneiderman resulting in his resignation. Eric Schneiderman denied all allegations at first.

On a more serious note about three weeks ago I ran into a small rattler that decided to bite me in the foot. Well, that was the last time he’ll be biting anything including himself. So, it inspired me to tell you a couple of things about venoms. The picture below is about two weeks after the fact.

That reptilian sleazebag bit through the tongue of my shoe. I felt the hit and after dispatching the snake so I could take it to the doctor, I irrigated the wound with ammonia. What does ammonia do?

Proteins have characteristic conformations (read shape), which define how the protein functions. If you disrupt that conformation you damage the protein so that it no longer functions. You’ll often hear that proteins may have primary, secondary, tertiary and even quaternary conformations; a typical structure is shown below.

What ammonia does is attack the hydrogen bonds that interact to give the protein its conformation – it’s what holds the folds together. When those bonds are broken the protein is in essence destroyed or in scientific parlance denatured.

You will still have an immune systems response and in my case I had puffiness and a dark area surrounding the bite, but knock on wood the bite was shallow enough that the ammonia took care of the problem. Ammonia also works very well with ant bites. Ants inject formic acid and ammonia will zap it.

For reasons that escape me, you can’t get ammonia at your local CVS or Walgreen, I believe since it’s used in explosive production it was taken off the shelves. You’ll need to find a source but it’s worth having a small bottle in your pack for things like this.

Last but not least, I have a short rant with regards to Gina Haspel’s confirmation hearing. She was asked if she had moral objection to enhanced interrogation techniques. The people asking those questions have spent their entire lives living by selective morality. I wonder how immoral EITs are when weighed against the prospect of hundreds or even thousands of lives. Give me a break!

Steyr Arms Adds 6.5 Creedmoor to Its Family of Pro THB Precision Rifles

BESSEMER, Ala. (May 3, 2018) — Steyr Arms will publicly unveil the much-anticipated Pro THB 6.5 Creedmoor rifle to the U.S. market at the 147th NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits in the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, May 4th through 6th in Dallas (Booth #9735). The latest addition to the company’s Pro THB (Tactical Heavy Barrel) lineup brings the 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge to the platform for long-range shooters and competitors.

The new Pro THB 6.5 Creedmoor is built on Steyr’s proven Safe Bolt System (SBS) bolt-action receiver with its 2+1 safety system. The SBS action is mated to a heavy-profile, cold-hammer-forged barrel that measures 25 inches in length with 1:8 rifling to maximize the potential of most 6.5 Creedmoor loads. The barrel retains Steyr’s signature swirl pattern, which is a unique and attractive byproduct of the hammer forging process. The muzzle is threaded to accept muzzle brakes or suppressors with a 5/8-24 RH thread pitch, and a thread protector is included.

With it’s match-quality single-stage trigger system, the Pro THB barreled-action is virtually identical to that of Steyr’s high-end, long-range tactical rifles. The barreled-action is mated to an OD Green glass-reinforced polymer stock that is weather resistant and exceptionally durable. The foreend is ventilated, and the rifle’s length of pull can be adjusted for the individual user by adding or removing buttplate spacers.

The Pro THB is fed via Steyr’s proprietary four-round, double-stack, polymer magazine, which features a two-stage locking mechanism. This system functions as a magazine cutoff to allow dry-firing/cycling or single loading single above a full magazine when locked in the lower position. When fully seated in to the upper position, rounds are fed directly from the magazine. An optional 10-round magazine and adapter kit is also available.

The Pro THB 6.5 Creedmoor measures 46 inches overall, and it weighs 9.3 pounds, empty. The rifle has a 20 MOA Picatinny rail mounted on the receiver, and it comes standard with a round tactical bolt handle. Steyr’s slim “butter-knife” bolt handle is also available from the factory. The rifle has a suggested retail price of $1,695, and as with all Steyr bolt-action rifles, the Pro THB 6.5 Creedmoor carries an unconditional 1 MOA guarantee.

SAAMI Donates $25,000 to Project ChildSafe Foundation in Support of NSSF Gun Safety Programs

NEWTOWN, Conn. — The Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute^® (SAAMI^®) has made a generous donation of $25,000 to the Project ChildSafe Foundation to help further the firearm safety education programs of the National Shooting Sports Foundation.

For more than 90 years, SAAMI has literally set the standard for safety and reliability of firearms, ammunition and components. “Safety is a primary focus of SAAMI,” said Joe Bartozzi, Chairman of the SAAMI Board of Directors, “so we are proud to support the Project ChildSafe program which has done so much to promote the safe and responsible ownership and storage of firearms.”

Crimson Trace Opens Store at NRA Meeting

Police equipment distributors/dealer owned by police veterans are now eligible to join the only non-profit association for police and public safety distributors and manufacturers for a one-year promotional membership fee.
