NAUMD Names Columbus Police Department Best Dressed
Annual Awards honor both the departments and suppliers of the uniform program
Omaha, Neb. (June 2020) – The North American Association of Uniform Manufacturers & Distributors (NAUMD) has named the Columbus Police Department one of the nation’s best dressed. The Ohio agency is one of five winners in NAUMD’s Best Dressed Public Safety Award® Competition, an annual program that recognizes the important role uniforms play in law enforcement and public safety work. The awards honor both the departments and suppliers of the uniform program. Cincinnati’s Fechheimer supplied the winning look.
The Honor Guard uniform is a standout for the Columbus Police Department, and it consists of a dark navy blouse with one Columbus Division of Police patch and one Honor Guard patch on the upper sleeves. The blouse is adorned with gold buttons for supervisors and silver buttons for officers. Supervisors wear gold fourrageres and officers wear white fourrageres on the blouse. A white uniform shirt with an Honor Guard patch is worn under the blouse with dark navy pants that match the blouse.
The Best Dressed Public Safety Award® Competition emphasizes the high value of professional, neat, well-fitted and immediately identifiable uniforms in the vitally important role of public safety and law enforcement. The award showcases the dedication of the industry’s uniform professionals to designing and manufacturing the most comfortable, safe and versatile set of apparel possible required to meet the exacting standards of today’s law enforcement professionals.
“If an officer is well dressed and feels good, he or she will project a positive image to the community,” noted NAUMD President Steve Zalkin.
The Columbus Police Department earned the best dressed nod for departments with more than 500 officers. Others topping the list are Yocha Dehe, CA, FD Best Dressed Department with less than 100 members; Sarasota County FD, Best Dressed Department with more than 500 members; Cumberland County, NC, Sheriff’s Office, Best Dressed Law Enforcement, 100 – 500 Members; and Barre, MA, Police Department, Best Dressed Law Enforcement – Under 100 Members.
The Best Dressed Public Safety Award® Competition is open to all public safety departments across North America. Participants must submit a completed entry form, as well as photographs depicting the various uniforms in their program. An independent panel of experts reviews each department’s professional appearance and uniform specifications to determine whether the uniform is appropriate for the type of work being performed. All winning departments and their suppliers receive award plaques. An awards dinner scheduled to honor this year’s recipients has been canceled due to the current health crisis.
“This year, it is more important than ever to recognize these brave first responders who are on the front lines fighting the Covid pandemic” noted Zalkin. “The NAUMD is proud to honor this year’s winners and all in law enforcement who serve their communities.”

New Level 3 Duty Holster Compatible with Pistol Mounted Red Dots

The new T-Series Red Dot Sight (RDS) Holsters are designed for use with the Trijicon RMR/SRO, Leupold Delta Point Pro, SIG Romeo1Pro, and other similar sized optics.
Developed to support law enforcement officers who are authorized to use red dot sights on patrol sidearms, the T-Series RDS Holsters provide maximum protection for both the firearm and optic. Competition Season Off to a Strong Start for Federal and CCI Sponsored Shooter Grant Kunkel
ANOKA, Minnesota – June 25, 2020 – Federal and CCI Ammunition sponsored shooter Grant Kunkel used products from these trusted brands to win big in both Rimfire and Pistol Caliber Carbine at two recent championship events.
“Grant is in his second year as a member of our team. He was recommended to us by one of our customers and apparently bought his first 22 LR firearm only 2 1/2 years ago. Kunkel took home High Overall honors, besting 361 fellow competitors at the 2020 Area 5 Steel Challenge Championship in Riley, Indiana. In that match, he had five total first place finishes which also included the categories of Rimfire Rifle Open, Pistol Caliber Carbine Open and Carry Optics. Kunkel shoots CCI Mini-Mag during rimfire competitions. Mini-Mag was CCI’s original offering decades ago, and it’s still one of the brand’s most popular. NAUMD Names Barre Police Department Best Dressed
Annual Awards honor both the departments and suppliers of the uniform program.
Omaha, Neb. (June 2020) – The North American Association of Uniform Manufacturers & Distributors (NAUMD)has named the Barre Police Department one of the nation’s best dressed. The Massachusetts agency is one of five winners in NAUMD’s Best Dressed Public Safety Award® Competition, an annual program that recognizes the important role uniforms play in law enforcement and public safety work. The awards honor both the departments and suppliers of the uniform program.

Who the hell is running our States and Cities?
We’ve made it through another week and what a week it’s been. Question: who the hell is running our States and Cities? Ans: “progressive” Democrats. Talk about a lackluster group of individuals but as the saying goes citizens get the governments they elect. We have seen rioting, looting and destruction of public monuments. It’s a sad state of affairs and the only remedy is for voters to get with the program and elect competent government. But, enough of this!
So, it’s Friday and time for a shoot the shit.
If you’re new to the sight, I try to schedule a shoot the shit weekly, on Fridays, to help you get your weekend started free from emotional distress. I do that to help you avoid seeing a therapist or using behavioral assistance apps of which there are roughly 1450 on IOS and Android. There’s no need to pay some jackasses that studied psychology so they could understand themselves $150+ an hour to do what you can do during a shoot the shit.
A shoot the shit is a social interaction in which participants don’t need to know anything about the subject being discussed, they’re free to make unsupported comments, use uncensored profanity, insult anyone they wish or change the subject altogether. It can also be implemented via Skype or any other video conferencing service.
Having said that, I’ll get started .
I enjoy watching commercials because to a great extent they are comedic as oppose to informative, NordicTrak is one of them; the Company has been around for years and is well established in the exercise machine spaces. So, how many of you have seen the commercial featuring Sarah and Oliver, in case you haven’t here it is
I think Oliver and Sarah are doing a bit more than bike riding and Sarah likes to be on top, what’s your opinion?
Moving right along…
From time to time, I get questions about what pistols I would recommend. A few years back, it was a fairly easy 
question for me to answer: SIG, Glock and H&K. However, times have changed and over the years there’s been a veritable cornucopia of excellent striker fired pistols on the market, so I’ve changed my answer and now say: get what you can find that feels good in your hand. The pictures below were taken at one of the largest gun stores in the state with 9 locations. As you can see this was the only Glock in inventory. As for the rest of the brands, the picture below will tell you everything you need to know.
The sales clerks looked like the life had be sucked out of them. If Dracula existed his victims would look like these poor associates from the store traffic they are dealing with.
Manufacturers are rolling out product by the truck loads as fast as they can build it. It’s unbelievable!
If you shoot 300 AAC try finding a box, online or in the stores, there’s not a box to be had.
Gun ranges are also a mess. You farm boys with plenty of land available don’t know how lucky you are. Gun ranges in the area, are limiting the number of shooters to 10 and limiting range time to 1 to 1.5 hours, so by the time you get setup it’s time to go. If you need to chronograph a load you can just forget it due to range rules and the time it takes to set up, which leads me to a suggestion for any range operator listening.
Set up 1 or 2 lanes equipped with a chronograph at a range depth of 25 yards, it’s all one needs to evaluate your loads. Let your customers reserve time on the lanes and charge accordingly. A Lab Radar would make an excellent chronograph for this application. It would be a welcomed addition to your range.
I’ll close by saying that the country needs our help. We have charlatans in elected positions that lack the love of country and courage to stand up for the citizens they allegedly represent. This should not discourage you, it should anger you, and in this Republic we express that anger at the polls. The November Elections are nearly upon us and I can’t recall a more important event than this years election. Get out and vote.

ECA GROUP to detect buried sea mines – always moving one step ahead in naval mine countermeasures
ECA GROUP and SOACSY recently signed a licensing agreement giving ECA GROUP exclusive rights to exploit its developments using seaCHIRP® technology based on SAS (Synthetic Aperture Sonar) for the detection of buried naval mines.
Naval mines are a real threat for seafarers and a navy’s daily concern. They have various forms and can be either visible on the surface (moored or floating mines) or detectable underwater as bottom mines. Underwater mines can get buried by waves and currents in sandy bottoms or by impact in muddy soil. As a consequence, naval mines become undetectable by the usual conventional high frequency mine hunting sonars mounted on mine hunting vessels, as well as towed sonars or sonars mounted on AUVs.
ECA GROUP, specialized in robotics for naval mine countermeasures for over 50 years and which provides its solutions to over 30 navies worldwide, and SOACSY, company specializing in the development of innovative acoustic systems and survey service, have signed a licensing agreement in order to provide a precise and efficient solution for buried mines detection and classification.
With its innovative seaCHIRP® technology, SOACSY sets the new standard in sub-bottom profiling data quality, resulting in improved signal / noise, accurate interpretation of detected objects, and cost effectiveness.
For more than ten years, SOACSY has been developing the seaCHIRP® technology for precise and efficient buried objects detection and localization: Combining Super-Wideband technology with High Resolution Beamforming and Synthetic Aperture Sonar processing, which was designed for the purpose of precise and efficient sub-seabed exploration and assessment. Data are collected, processed online in Low Resolution and visualized for quality check purposes, using the proprietary seaCHIRP® Software. Then, the collected data are post processed and can be interpreted using the proprietary seaLOGS software.
Since 2014, when the first operational prototype was developed by SOACSY, the company performed different commercial operations which represent about 2400km of survey lines, with 1 Terabyte of data collected. The system was operated from 5 to 40m long ships. The main applications were detection of UXO (UneXploded Ordnance), boulders, debris, pipelines/cables, marine archeology and sedimentary studies.
The main advantages of the seaCHIRP® technology are full seabed coverage in minimized acquisition time, precise X, Y, Z contact positioning, contact size estimation, quick and easy set-up, as well as a compact, versatile and ruggedized system.
ECA GROUP will industrialize the seaCHIRP® technology in the frame of this license agreement in order to provide navies with a fully operational solution to detect and classify buried subsea mines. ECA Robotics Belgium (ECA GROUP) will be in charge of the development and industrialization of the seaCHIRP® technology as part of IES commitment of Belgium Naval & Robotics contract for the supply of 12 MCM ships for the Belgium and Netherlands navies.
Leveraging on the synergy with ECA GROUP’s on-going works in high frequency synthetic aperture sonar, a real-time solution for data processing will be developed, using proprietary (patent pending) algorithms for efficient and accurate synthetic aperture processing.
The aim is to integrate buried mines neutralization capability within ECA GROUP’s UMISTM (Unmanned MCM Integrated System). This solution is a comprehensive drones based system for mine warfare operations, developed by ECA GROUP, for surveying and securing large or complex zones at sea as well as coastal areas. This modular solution is based on a wide range of unmanned vehicles such as USVs, UUVs (AUVs, ROVs, MIDS), towed systems (sonars, sweeps) and UAVs that can be configured according to the needs of the user and operational requirements. Team SIG’s Lena Miculek Earns Fourth Straight Title as USPSA PCC Lady’s National Champion

First California Police Department Implements New Transparency Technology

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – June 23, 2020 – The King City, California Police Department has deployed the FACT Duty™ Weapon-Mounted Camera (WMC™). As transparency in Law Enforcement once again becomes a critical need at this juncture in society today, Chief Robert Masterson and the department have the only technology and tool dedicated to capturing Officer Involved Shootings.
King City is in Monterey County of Central California and sits almost equidistant from several large, major California cities on the banks of the Salinas River. King City is the first department in California to complete implementation of the FACT Duty which is in various stages of testing and implementation in over 40 states across the country.

NAUMD Names Smith & Warren 2020 Innovation Award Winner

(June 2020) – The North American Association of Uniform Manufacturers & Distributors (NAUMD) today announced the winners of its 2020 Innovation Awards, a program that recognizes unique design, advanced technology and excellence within the public safety uniform and apparel industry. Topping the list was Smith & Warren, who received the Best Badge or Emblem Design for its work with the Commerce City Police Department.
The Commerce City breast and shirt badges were designed using the BadgeStudio process by Smith & Warren. BadgeStudio combines traditional concept design through sketching with digital 3D design and laser die-cutting technologies. Both badges in the program feature a black background along with uniquely integrated symbols representing the country, state, and municipality served by the department. Smith & Warren and Commerce City Police Department worked very closely together over several months to develop the concept and bring it to reality. While Smith & Warren provided the creative and technical services, it was really a collaborative effort between two organizations who were passionate about the project.
3D digital rendering and laser die cutting are innovative technologies exclusive to Smith & Warren in the badge business. The 3D rendering allows customers to see exactly how the badge will look before the die is cut. Laser die cutting provides a level of detail far superior to traditional machining methods.

· Indra establishes itself as a key player for the next phase of the European Defence Fund, which is expected to surpass five times the investment of the European Commission in defence programs, reaching 1,250 million euros yearly during the 2021-27 period, and which will be complemented by an equal investment by the Member States
Madrid, June 19, 2020.- Indra will lead three of the main projects financed by the European Commission within the European Defence Industrial Development Program (EDIDP) and will participate as a partner in two more, strengthening its position as one of the large companies leading the construction of “European Defence”. The company has been awarded the contracts for the three proposals that it submitted as leader and it is the company coordinating the most projects of this call.
The result of this call positions Spain as a key player in the new “European Defence” thanks to the firm support that Spain’s Defence Ministry is providing for its national industry.
The five initiatives in which Indra is going to participate will generate a total of 175 million euros and will have a funding of 107 million euros from the European Commission, more than 50% of the total budget of this first call of the EDIDP program. Said projects include the participation of defense companies from more than 20 countries.
In every case, we are talking about long-term and technologically advanced undertakings that will strengthen Indra’s innovative and competitive capabilities and that will provide Europe with key capabilities for defense and security, as proven by the fact that all projects led by Indra or in which Indra participates are encompassed within the Permanent Structured Cooperation for Defense matters (PESCO) approved by the EU Council in December 2017. These are strategic projects for the EU and will give structure to the European model for industry cooperation.
With this achievement, Indra is established as the company unifying the defense systems of Europe, and as a driving force in the Spanish technological defense sector, strengthening its competitiveness on a global level in the defense market.
The success of Indra in the EDIDP ensures the continuity of the position attained during the Preparatory Action on Defense Research (PADR). Since its origin in 2017, Indra has participated in the main projects, such as OCEAN 2020 and currently leads the development of the future generation of multi-function antennas (CROWN) that will boost the electronic defense and radar capacity of the next generation of combat aircraft.
Furthermore, Indra is positioned as a key player for the second phase of the European Defense Fund, which will begin next year and is expected to surpass five times the investment of the European Commission in defense programs, reaching 1,250 million euros yearly during the 2021-27 period, and that will be complemented by an equal investment by the Member States.
The three EDIDP projects that Indra leads in this call are centered around the development of command and control capabilities, electronic defense and cybersecurity, three areas in which Indra has extensive experience and a leading position in technological terms internationally. These are:
· The European Strategic Command and Control (ESC2) System will give the EU essential command and control capabilities so that all European countries can act in unison and coordinate with their allies in international missions for peacekeeping. It will be a fully interoperable system with the command and control structures and systems of the EU, the member countries, NATO and civil agencies.
· The Responsive Electronic Attack for Cooperative Task (REACT) Program will enable the air forces of the Member States to conduct operations in which the enemy prevents or denies access to an airspace (A2/AD, anti-access/area denial). These electronic defense systems will be implemented with different configurations, from pods that can be adapted to currently-operating aircraft to specific configurations integrated in future combat aircraft developments, such as the FCAS or in unmanned systems (RPAS).
· Development of the European Cyber Situational Awareness Platform (ECYSAP), which will offer integrated and real-time imaging of cyber threats to which a defense system may be subjected. It will enable immediate reaction capabilities, as well as smart support tools for decision-making.
The other two projects that Indra will participate in as a partner are:
· The anti-collision European system for unmanned aircraft (EUDAAS), which will increase flight safety and will enable the integration of RPAS into the airspace. This is a key capability to enable the operation of large military RPAS without interfering with civil air traffic, and particularly with EuroMALE, currently in development.
· Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) based on Galileo (GEODE) will develop an array of antennas, military receivers and security modules for satellite navigation using the Galileo constellation signals. The devices will be deployed in RPAS, land and naval platforms and time synchronization systems of different nations; furthermore, they will have a common underlying structure that will ensure secure operation of the system.

The Precision Rifle Expo 2020 is on for September!
The 3rd Annual Precision Rifle Expo will be held Sept. 26 – 27, 2020, at the Arena Training Facility in Blakely, Georgia.
Blakely, Ga. (June 2020) – The Precision Rifle Expo (PRE) opens registration for its 3rd annual, two-day event featuring the top brands in the precision, long-range rifle market. This year, the PRE will be held Sept. 26 – 27, 2020, at the Arena Training Facility in Blakely, Georgia. Registration is now open.
With attendance from 2019 exceeding expectations from the inaugural year, 2020 promises attendees an outstanding opportunity to access the exhibitor tent, attend multiple education classes taught by leading names in the precision rifle category, and various range experiences. Novices and professionals, competitors, and industry experts, all converge on one of the Country’s premier shooting facilities to learn from each other, test their skills, and build long-lasting relationships.
This year, attendees will not have to pre-register for any of the classes. Classes will be posted on the website and at the event. Also, pre-registration is $35 with onsite registration at $50. Pre-registrants will not receive a ticket and are asked to proceed to the Check-In Tent where a wrist band will be provided for admission.
The Arena Training Facility is located approximately two hours from the Hartsfield Airport in Atlanta, Georgia, and is centrally located in the Southeastern US. The facility boasts a unique configuration of multiple medium- to long-distance ranges, multiple climate-controlled classrooms, a main building, and a clubhouse (available first come, first serve for exhibitors), all located on 2,300 acres. For those who want to fly into the facility, the Arena has a 5,400 ft. airstrip and hangar space is available.
