Umarex USA Appoints Richard Turner as Chief Executive Officer

FORT SMITH, AR (July 13, 2021) – Umarex USA, Inc., an innovator in air powered pistols and rifles, optics, and lights for the outdoorsman and sport shooting enthusiasts announced today that the Company’s Board of Directors has appointed current company president Richard Turner, as its President and Chief Executive Officer.
The appointment of Turner is part of a long-term strategic transition plan that names outgoing CEO, Adam Blalock, as Chairman of the Board for Umarex USA, Inc. Blalock is currently and will remain the President and CEO of Walther Arms, Inc. and Walther Manufacturing, Inc. Umarex USA, Walther Arms, and Walther Manufacturing are part of the Umarex Group of companies with headquarters in Arnsberg Germany. All three privately-owned U.S. corporations share a business complex located in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

The newly appointed CEO, Richard Turner, was announced as Umarex USA’s president on March 9th, 2017. Prior to becoming company president Turner served as vice president of sales & marketing since 2006. During its first 15 years in business, he has directly contributed to and successfully guided the strategic expansion of the company’s product portfolio and sales growth. While almost all of Turner’s career has been in consumer products, he has spent the past 20 years in senior management roles within the outdoor and shooting sports industry including time with PRADCO Outdoor Brands and Russell Outdoors/Mossy Oak Apparel. Turner holds an undergraduate degree in marketing from Birmingham Southern College as well as an MBA from University of Alabama-Birmingham and serves on the Board of Directors of the Airgun Sporting Association.

PROOF Research Awarded Contract for Future Weapon Systems Development

(July 2021) – PROOF Research®, has been awarded a $12.7 million contract for the development and delivery of prototype advanced composite medium caliber barrels and components for next generation weapon systems. PROOF Research is the leading manufacturer of advanced high-temperature composite aerospace/defense materials and components, cut-rifled steel and carbon-fiber composite precision rifle barrels, and custom rifle systems that deliver extreme accuracy and enhanced performance with up to a 50% weight reduction.

The program builds on PROOF Research’s successful small caliber barrel technology already in service with U.S. military forces, and will enable medium caliber weapons with increased performance that provide overmatch capability on tomorrow’s battlefield. “This project demonstrates the scalability and performance advantages of PROOF’s technology in any weapon system,” stated PROOF Research CEO, Larry Murphy. ARLINGTON, Va., July 13, 2021 – AeroVironment, Inc. The ISR services include the first SATCOM-enabled unmanned aircraft system for beyond line of sight operations as part of the existing Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) MEUAS IV contract. Research shows that onsite WBGT measurement is the most reliable way to monitor the environment and assess heat stress risk. The Kestrel 5400 Heat Stress Tracker offers extremely accurate WBGT monitoring for preventing heat-related illness or injury. The free Kestrel LiNK companion app makes it easy to log, manage, and export practice or game day reports.

The Kestrel 5400 Heat Stress Tracker Pro monitors critical local environmental conditions, including the recommended measurement of Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT), providing data for the most reliable assessment of heat stress risk.

Bushnell® Shooter KC Eusebio Wins at 2021 Colorado State Championship

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – July 9, 2021 – Bushnell®, an industry leader in performance optics, is celebrating Bushnell pro shooter KC Eusebio’s first-place finish at the 2021 ESP Bighorn Classic – Colorado State Championship, which took place June 24-27 in Grand Junction, Colorado.

In the Main Match, Eusebio won the High Overall title and first place in the Open division. Meanwhile, fellow teammate and Hoppe’s ambassador Jessie Harrison won High Lady and was 5th Overall in the Open division. Throughout the competition, Eusebio and Harrison were equipped with their Bushnell First Strike 2.0 reflex sights.

“It’s always a great feeling to travel across the nation and compete,” Eusebio said. “This was a challenging match due to the distance of the targets. Luckily, I have my Bushnell red dot which has great daylight bright settings and a crisp 3 MOA dot reticle. It made long shots effortless, and I was able to take home First Place Overall.”

This past year, Bushnell expanded their reflex line of red dots with the introduction of the RXS series including the RXS-100 and RXS-250. Both new red dots are designed to mount to accessory rails and most optics ready pistols right out of the box, making it easier to compete, hunt or equip for on-duty use. The First Strike 2.0 influenced the RXS lineup and recently Bushnell improved upon the legacy sight with an increased recoil rating, enhanced brightness, new battery door and a user-selectable timer.

Eusebio’s next match is the Georgia State Championship taking place September 25 in Dawsonville, Georgia.

Team Federal Shoots Big at 2021 US Open Skeet Championship

ANOKA, Minnesota – July 9, 2021 – The Federal Skeet Team made an extremely impressive showing at the 2021 Kolar U.S. Open Skeet Championship recently held at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio, Texas, taking home a number of trophies.

Stuart Brown’s score of 100×100 earned him the champion slot in the 12 Gauge event and he also snagged the Highest Overall (HOA) trophy, missing only one bird all day and racking up a 399×400 score!

“I have shot the U.S. Open for many years, at many different clubs, and shot really good scores but I never took the HOA and the 12 gauge event before, so this is a great personal accomplishment,” Brown said. “My Federal ammunition performed great, and it is absolutely the best ammunition in the world! I greatly appreciate all the support from Team Federal and I’m really looking forward to my next competition.”

In the Doubles event, Cameron Schuster took the first place trophy with a perfect score, while Paul Giambrone III and Rachel Barringer took the runner up and third place trophies, respectively, in the 28 Gauge

event.

“We are extremely proud of the stellar performances from Stuart, Cameron, Paul, and Rachel at the Kolar Open Skeet Championship, and of all our Team Federal shooter athletes,” said Federal Ammunition Vice President of Marketing Jason Nash. “The trophies they’re bringing home are a reflection of Federal’s dedication to its products and to the shooting sports.”

The National Defense Industrial Association’s (NDIA) Undersea Warfare Division invites authors of high-quality professional abstracts to submit their work for technical presentation at the 2021 Undersea Warfare Fall Conference, scheduled in-person for September 27 – 29, 2021, in Groton, CT. Each abstract must be UNCLASSIFIED and cleared for public release with unlimited distribution (Distribution A). Each abstract should fit into one of the following Technical Sessions:

Undersea Vehicles
Warfighter Performance

Individuals are required to submit a concise abstract of 5,000 characters or less by Friday, July 16. Authors will be notified whether their abstract has been accepted by July 30. The Delegate is the second installment into the Ambassador Series of Nighthawk Custom 1911 pistols. Unlike its predecessor, the Counselor, the Delegate comes chambered in 9mm or .45 ACP, and this time with a 4.25” barrel and commander frame. The Delegate is based on a steel frame and utilizes a stainless-steel mainspring housing and grip safety. The New Holosun HE507K-GR X2 with Green Reticle

Green reticles have some advantages of being an ultra-high contrast color in both daytime and low-light use. The brilliant green reticle of the HE507K-GR X2 enables the shooter to obtain a sight picture instantly against almost any backdrop or lighting conditions.

HE507K-GR X2 is an open reflex pistol optic designed primarily for concealed applications. The HE507K has become the go-to optic for concealed carriers and professional users on backup firearms. The HE507K features HOLOSUN’s Multi-reticle System (MRS) which gives the user an option to use the 32MOA/2MOA Circle-Dot reticle, Circle only, or Dot only. With up to 50,000-hour battery life (on setting 6), is the 507K goes far beyond the industry standard for a green reticle. It also has 12 brightness settings – 10 daytime and 2-night vision-compatible – for all-around use capabilities.

When carrying this optic, there is a wide range of features worth noting. Lock Mode is one such feature. It locks out the button functionality, preventing accidental setting changes if the optic is knocked into something. This, paired with the button redesign adds to the streamlined design which is perfect for concealed carry and backup firearm applications.

The HE507K is very compact measuring just 0.95” tall, 1.60” long, and 0.98” wide. Additional features include a side-mounted battery which enables the user to replace batteries without removing the optic which can require re-zeroing every time.

Overall, this newest addition to the Holosun lineup is worth a closer look and a few glances downrange.
