NSSF Welcomes Rep. Bergman’s FIND Act Introduction in Congress

NEWTOWN, Conn. — NSSF®, the firearm industry trade association, welcomed the introduction of H.R. 6970, the Firearm Industry Nondiscrimination (FIND) Act, into Congress by U.S. Rep. Jack Bergman (R-Mich.). The bill has 55 original co-sponsors. This vital legislation will end the ability of corporate entities from profiting from taxpayer-funded federal contracts while discriminating against a Constitutionally-protected industry at the same time.

“This legislation is critical to ensuring ‘woke’ corporations don’t use their financial might, funded by taxpayers, to deny essential services to the firearm industry,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “Corporations, in particular financial institutions, have been dictating public policies from boardrooms that throttle firearm businesses, which are Constitutionally-protected. This bill will no longer allow those corporations to benefit from taxpayer dollars while at the same time using those funds to deny Americans their Second Amendment rights. We thank Congressman Bergman for his leadership to ensure fairness in business, reasserting Congress’s role in ensuring the federal government isn’t picking winners and losers in the marketplace based on politics and protecting the ability of a lawful industry to compete for services without artificial and agenda-driven barriers.”

Congressman Bergman’s FIND Act doesn’t tell companies with whom they must do business. However, just as companies can chose who they wish to do business with, so can the government when it spends taxpayer money. This bill ensures corporations cannot benefit from contracts and subcontracts funded by taxpayers only to use their financial strength to unfairly discriminate against the firearm industry. For far too long, corporations have engaged in “boardroom gun control” to force firearm businesses to adopt measures that would restrict Americans’ Second Amendment rights. Corporations are free to hold these anti-Second Amendment policies if they choose but would forfeit access to compete for federal contracts.

Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott signed a similar law in Texas in 2021 and similar legislation is being considered in other state capitols. Congressman Bergman’s legislation would bring those same fair business protections to the federal government to ensure corporate entities are not forcing policies that deny American civil liberties through the benefit of taxpayer-funded federal contracts.

ANOKA, Minnesota – March 8, 2022 – At the 2022 IWA Classic in Nürnberg, Germany, Federal Ammunition was recognized by the convention for the upcoming 100th Anniversary of the company. Dave Leis and Peter Gillette of Federal Ammunition accepted a plaque in recognition of Federal’s 100th anniversary from the IWA exhibit management.

The IWA Outdoor Classics is a leading international trade fair for hunting, shooting sports, equipment for outdoor activities, and civilian and official security applications. At the 2022 IWA gathering, 856 exhibitors from 53 countries along with 19,500 attendees participated in the return of the event since it was last held in 2019. Federal Ammunition was proud to be one of the returning exhibitors to showcase the new product offerings for 2022.

IWA OutdoorClassics 2022 has come to a successful conclusion, although the event was an unusual one in the context of the current geopolitical situation and the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. A total of 856* exhibitors from 53 countries took part in this eagerly awaited return to the sector gathering in Nuremberg. The Leading International Trade Fair for Hunting, Shooting Sports, Outdoor Activities and Security also drew 19,500* trade visitors (international contingent just under 60%, representing 111 countries) to the city between 3 and 6 March. Team Winchester for the Win at Jack Link’s Cup Sporting Clays Event

EAST ALTON, IL (March 7, 2022) — Congratulations to the newest member of Team Winchester, Joe Fanizzi, for his win at the inaugural Jack Link’s Cup held at the Quail Creek Sporting Ranch. Fanizzi, a freshman at Texas A&M University, made a rushed trip to Florida around his class schedule to compete and dominated with a five-target lead in the main event. This win comes on the heels of Fanizzi’s recent title of national champion from the 2021 National Sporting Clays Association (NSCA) Nationals.
Team Winchester members Zach Kienbaum locked up a first-place win in Master Class (third overall), and Connor Daniel was the Sub-Junior runner-up.
This was the first year for the Jack Link’s Cup, which sold out with more than 750 total shooters vying for over $150,000 in prize money.
The next stop for Team Winchester this season will be the Gator Cup in Griffin, Georgia, taking place March 15-20.

Anoka, Minnesota – March 4, 2022 – To provide additional support for Ukraine during the current crisis, Remington, CCI, Speer and Federal Ammunition will be donating one-million rounds of total ammo to the Ukraine Armed Forces. There will also be special edition t-shirts pledging all profits from the sale to refugees in the war-torn country. The shirts will supplement the company’s donation and maintain awareness of the need for global support of Ukraine.

“The war in Ukraine has displaced millions of citizens and exposed average people to the horrors of war,” said Jason Vanderbrink, President of Remington, CCI, Speer and Federal Ammunition. “Supporting the relief effort is a crucial element of the global response and we are proud to do our part. Team Remington’s Reanna Frauens Dominates Florida Challenge

Lonoke, Arkansas – March 4, 2022 – Remington Ammunition congratulates Team Remington’s Reanna Frauens on an impressive, championship-caliber performance in the Bradford Sportsmen’s Farm Florida Challenge. Frauens earned both the Lady Champion and Junior Champion titles in five different events- Prelim, FITASC, 5-Stand, Super Challenge and the Main Event. She was also HOA Runner-Up in the 5-Stand competition.

“Reanna dominated!” said Joel Hodgdon, Director of Marketing for Remington Ammunition. “She goes toe-to-toe with the best and we’re thrilled to have Reanna shoot for Big Green. Her successful performance over the weekend has all of us at Remington excited to see what she’s able to accomplish as she competes for the remainder of the season.”

Frauens, a sophomore at the University of Florida, began her shooting career at Quail Creek Sporting Ranch on their “Young Guns” youth shooting team and began shooting competitively during her freshman year of high school within the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP). She branched out into the National Sporting Clay Association (NSCA) and later began shooting within the NSCA Championship Tour.

Most recently, Frauens was the 2021 NSCA Florida State Lady Champion, 2021 ATA Florida State Lady HOA Champion and the 2021 Lady All-American Team Captain.

Reanna and all of Team Remington’s championship roster are excited for the season ahead and look forward to competing- and winning- at all major trap, skeet and sporting clay shoots this year.

The NDIA CBRN Defense Division promotes the exchange of information — technical and operational — related to defenses against weapons of mass destruction between the Department of Defense and other government agencies, industry, and academia. To do so, the Division addresses various functional areas: defensive measures, chemical weapons demilitarization, treaty compliance, industrial base issues, and domestic preparedness. Come with your questions, suggestions, and innovative ideas, and make time to check out the exhibition hall and poster sessions.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information

The CBRN planning team is monitoring the COVID-19 situation as the health of our event participants, members, and partners remains our top priority. We are committed to following the guidelines and precautions as outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the venue. Attendees should adhere to the following at the conference:

PROOF OF VACCINATION: All attendees will be required to provide proof of vaccination or proof of negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours prior to arriving onsite for badge pick-up. Details for securely providing documentation will be provided shortly on the event website.
MASKS: NDIA follows CDC and state guidelines. Currently, it is recommended that fully vaccinated attendees wear a mask indoors, but they may choose not to. All attendees that are not fully vaccinated or do not wish to disclose that information will be required to wear face masks. Please plan and bring your own face mask. A very limited supply of disposable masks will be available onsite.
WAIVER: All registrants are required to sign NDIA’s COVID-19 waiver during the online registration process. Attendees may disclose their vaccination status at the time of signing.
SOCIAL DISTANCING: Additional venue space will be available to allow for attendees to spread out.
FOOD AND BEVERAGE: Food and beverage areas will be designed to minimize touchpoints utilizing individually packaged or attended stations.
