NSSF Criticizes DOJ Deal for Hunter Biden’s Gun Crimes
WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, criticizes the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) plea agreement with Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, to avoid prosecution for illegally possessing a firearm as an admitted drug user. The agreement comes at the same time the Biden administration is punishing firearm retailers by revoking licenses and terminating livelihoods for minor clerical errors with its “zero-tolerance” policy.
The Biden administration and the Attorney General Merrick Garland-led DOJ are more interested in appealing to special-interest gun control donors than they are concerned with upholding the law. This agreement fuels Americans’ concerns that the Biden administration supports two systems of justice – one that protects the Biden administration, the Biden family and its political allies and another that doles out punishments for those who oppose the Biden administration’s policies.
“Under this administration’s ‘zero tolerance’ policy, licensed firearm retailers have had their lives destroyed for paperwork mistakes far less egregious than buying a gun when you are a crack addict,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF’s Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “They are not serious about reducing gun violence, only scoring cheap political points. It is worth noting this announcement came today, after President Biden’s appearance in Hartford last Friday to call for gun control.”
President Biden appeared at the National Safer Communities Summit in Hartford, Conn., during which he again called on Congress to pass unconstitutional gun control measures that would ban an entire class of commonly-owned semiautomatic rifles and for suing members of the firearm industry.
Hunter Biden’s plea agreement to misdemeanor tax offenses allows him to avoid federal felony charges for lying on a background check form when he purchased a firearm. Hunter Biden was an illegal user of crack cocaine at the time, which makes him ineligible to legally purchase or possess a firearm. The punishment for the felony offense of lying on a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ (ATF) Form 4473 is up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The firearm Hunter Biden purchased was later disposed of in a public trash can.
NSSF is frustrated by this no prosecution agreement, especially since the firearm industry partners with the DOJ and ATF to prevent illegal straw purchases through the Don’t Lie for the Other GuyTM program. That program informs the public that the punishment for lying on a background check to purchase a firearm for another who can’t legally purchase a firearm is a federal crime that carries up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

GA-ASI SELECTS SCIOTEQ TO SUPPORT DETECT AND AVOID PROGRAM
PARIS – 20 June 2023 – As General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) continues towards its development goal of earning Technical Standard Order (TSO) authorization from the FAA for its internally developed Detect and Avoid (DAA) system, the company has selected Belgium-based ScioTeq to supply a certified processor and display for its DAA solution. ScioTeq is a proven avionics supplier that was identified as a possible strategic partner at GA-ASI’s Blue Magic Belgium event in 2020.
Earning FAA certification for its DAA system will help GA-ASI’s unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) achieve authorization to operate in non-segregated airspace, which will provide greater access for GA-ASI customers to conduct both military and civil missions. Certification of GA-ASI’s DAA capability is an important milestone for its new MQ-9B certifiable UAS. MQ-9B is designed to integrate safely and operate seamlessly in civil airspace, and the aircraft is fitted for the DAA system.

Canadian Armed Forces Transitions to SIG SAUER P320

30 SUPER CARRY REVIEW: HOW DOES IT STACK UP?

You may have heard of the new 30 Super Carry cartridge from Federal and wondered as I did, What’s all the hubbub, bub? Initially, like many, I started with the assumption that this would be another solution looking for a problem, ending in a new bright cartridge dying on the vine as many have in the past.
I had seen many different calibers come and go while teaching concealed carry and firearm classes since 2010 and wondered if this would go the way of many other commercially failed cartridges. Upon further review, I think this cartridge has the potential for a successful foray into the concealed carry pistol arena.
I was kindly provided 200 rounds of Federal American Eagle 30SC and 200 Rounds of Remington HTP 30SC and headed out to Inner 10 Weapons and Training, who loaned me a trio of Smith & Wesson Shield EZ’s in .380 auto, 9mm Luger, and 30 Super Carry to do some research.

BACKGROUND & HISTORY OF THE 30 SUPER CARRY
Introduced in 2022, the 30 Super Carry was developed by Federal as a new caliber aiming at the self-defense pistol market. Federal states that the “30 Super Carry was fully developed from the ground up with no parent cartridge. Utilizing modern materials and designs, it provides vastly superior performance to seemingly similar historic cartridges.” While similar in dimensions to older cartridges like 7.65×21 Parabellum, 7.65×20mm Longue, and 32 Auto, it surpasses all of these in terms of performance.
The 30 Super Carry cartridge from Federal is a new offering to the CCW & self-defense market. It is a high-pressure cartridge (50,000 psi) traveling faster than both the .380 auto and the 9mm Luger. Performing closely to 9mm and easily outpacing the .380 auto, it has all the chops to become a standard in the self-defense realm and possibly beyond. 30 SC presents an alternative to 9mm in CCW pistols due to the smaller diameter cartridge facilitating smaller guns with increased capacity and comparable performance.
Let’s start with some stats on the three calibers for a quick comparison:
THE EXPERIENCE: 30 SUPER CARRY VS. 9MM VS. 380 AUTO
I took my newly arrived package of ammo from GunMag Warehouse and set out to my favorite blasting palace to get a feel for 30 Super Carry in comparison to the 380 auto and 9mm Luger. I got S&W Shield EZ in all three calibers, providing a good comparison platform.

I was intrigued to see how much of a difference the cartridges make compared to the same delivery system. I loaded up five rounds of each to get a general feel for the comparison and shot these one-handed, two slow fires, then three rapid fires with a complete two-hand grip.
RECOIL
380 AUTO
Starting with the .380 auto EZ. The ride was easy and enjoyable. The gun is light in the 380 Auto caliber, and the recoil is milder than the rest. This makes for a light pistol with a pleasant recoil impulse that would be easily controlled by a small framed or elderly shooter.
30 SUPER CARRY
Next up, 30 Super Carry; I figured putting it in the middle would give me the best comparison to the other two calibers. This time around, the ride was a bit spicier. The gun is noticeably heavier but not what I would consider a heavy pistol. The recoil reminded me of some of my other 9mm pistols, but not close to a 9mm fired from my Springfield Hellcat. I think the recoil impulse of 30 Super Carry is a bit more mellow than that of a 9mm.
9MM LUGER
Last up, the Shield EZ running 9mm. This gun felt lighter than the 30 Super carry model but still noticeably heavier than the 380. The recoil was similar to the 30 Super Carry, but the impulse felt a touch sharper than the 30 SC.
.380 AUTO VS. 9MM VS. 30 SUPER CARRY
Overall, the shooting experience of the three calibers from the S&W Shield EZ was an interesting comparison, mostly in felt recoil and muzzle rise. Felt recoil in order of least to most: 380 Auto, 30 Super Carry, 9mm Luger. It was a close call between the 9mm and the 30 SC, but the 30 Super Carry is just a bit milder.
Muzzle rise followed the same order 380, 30 SC, then 9mm. Again, the last two were close, but the video I shot showed the 9mm had just a bit more upward travel of the muzzle.
The S&W Shield EZ paired with the Federal 30 Super Carry was a fine round with interesting stats. The recoil was more than the same pistol in .380 AUTO and similar to a 9mm but with a different recoil impulse, not more or less but different at least going by feel. The 380 Auto has had a much-welcomed increase in carry ammo performance lately, but the new 30 Super carry looks to have what it takes to give it a real challenge in that area of self-defense & CCW pistols.

With 19 user nations in attendance, and a reveal of the latest tech in SPIKE training — The 18th SPIKE Users’ Club Meeting has concluded successfully.
In a collaborative effort between NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA), EuroSpike and RAFAEL Advanced Defense Systems, The SPIKE Missile Family’s global users gathered together in Copenhagen, Denmark for the 18th SPIKE Users’ Club Meeting.
SPIKE, the combat proven RAFAEL flagship family of missile systems, is an industry leader of precise tactical missiles with a global user base.
The SPIKE Users’ Club Meeting was established by global SPIKE users in 2003. The annual event allows users to engage with other user nations serving as a collaborative platform fostering partnerships among user countries, and encouraging the exchange of ideas and lessons learned from operational experiences. By leveraging the collective experience and expertise of SPIKE users, this forum empowers participants to optimize their utilization of the system, ensuring its effectiveness in addressing complex defense challenges.
The convening of SPIKE users and Rafael’s subject matter experts and EuroSpike’s programs management creates a unique opportunity for the exchange of ideas offering invaluable insights into the operability as well as latest advancements in the SPIKE missile system.
In its’ 2023 rendition, the SPIKE Users’ Club held workshops focusing on Vehicle Integration, Operations, Tactics and Doctrine, Logistics, as well as Training and Simulation — with the reveal of the newest SPIKE trainer.

IDV (Iveco Defense Vehicles) has signed a Framework Agreement with the Swedish Defense Materiel Administration (FMV) to provide up to 3,000 light vehicles to the Swedish Armed Forces. The initial order will be for 400 vehicles.
IDV has signed a Framework Agreement (FWA) to supply up to 3,000 Light Multi Purpose Vehicles LMPV) of the type MUV 4×4 (Military Utility Vehicle) to the Swedish Armed Forces. The Framework Agreement extends over four years 2023 until 2027 with the option to extend the agreement for additional five years. The MUV 4×4, the selected vehicle considered able to fulfil the LMPV requirements, is available in 12 different variants including troop transport vehicles, medical variant vehicles, communication vehicles, logistic vehicles, and dog transport. The 12 different LMPV versions can easily be accommodated on the MUV platform, a versatile and modular family of vehicles with several combinations in terms of GVW, chassis, cab, engine and driveline. The vehicles offered by IDV will guarantee high levels of mobility, compatibility with military fuels, adaptability to diverse climatic ranges, and top-notch EMC performance.
The MUV is a purpose-built military vehicle, developed to be the natural successor of IDV’s work horse, the M40E15-WM, compliant with military and NATO standards, which significantly benefits also from important synergies with heavily industrialized components. Rugged and highly mobile, the MUV has been designed to meet military users’ broad spectrum of operation requirements. With a GVW of up to 7 ton, the vehicle is designed to offer a maximum payload of 4 ton. The engine is specifically designed to operate in demanding environments, including extreme temperatures ranging from -32°C to +49°C, and can also operate with NATO fuels. Mobility is further enhanced by a permanent 4×4 drive with central/front/rear lockable differentials and a PTO equipped transfer case as well as by an independent front suspension system with torsion bar, which ensures balanced off-road mobility, handling, and reliability. By maximizing the commonality of components and manufacturing across the MUV family, the logistical footprint is reduced while, at the same time, flexibility is improved by introducing modular superstructures to enhance MUV’s suitability in various operational scenarios.
In order to respond to the set of specific technical requirements for the LMPV Project, IDV designed on-purpose solutions and vehicle adaptations. These customization requirements include an EMC performance upgrade in terms of both vehicle and superstructures, thus reaching full military levels of compliance, in-cab predispositions for the integration of communication and military equipment as well as tailor-made superstructures for different roles and applications, including the possibility to transport the Medical 2 variant within the C-130 airplane while at the same time guaranteeing the functionality of the medical systems and intensive care equipment during the flight.
The support required for the LMPV Project includes the setup of a local footprint in the incoming short term, thus granting to the Swedish Armed Forces the required readiness during the Service Life of the MUV. Consequently, in view of the FWA LMPV, a dedicated Customer Logistic Support (CLS) FWA is also signed, which will be covering the reliability and availability of the servicing fleet for up to 12 years.
IDV has extensive experience in developing military vehicles to meet current as well as future global operational requirements. Throughout the recent years, the company has identified the need for a light vehicle, specifically designed to undertake a variety of roles in low intensity operational scenario such as: logistic support, in-land operations and training, humanitarian aid, homeland security missions for UN, EU and NATO and able to satisfy military requirements of non-NATO forces. In response to these requirements, the company has developed a new generation of unprotected and lightly protected vehicles. Winchester Donates Ammunition to NSSF’s First Shots® Program
WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, is pleased to acknowledge the sponsorship support of Winchester to NSSF’s First Shots® program in the form of 40,000 rounds of rimfire ammunition.
Winchester is one of the premier manufacturers of ammunition in America and is a longtime supporter of First Shots and other NSSF programs such as National Shooting Sports Month® and Project ChildSafe®.

The first slide stop operates like any standard 1911 slide stop, locking the slide back on an empty magazine. GA-ASI PERFORMS FIRST FLIGHT OF NEW HEAVY FUEL ENGINE FOR GRAY EAGLE ER
SAN DIEGO – 15 June 2023 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) conducted the first flight of its new 200-horsepower heavy fuel engine on a Gray Eagle aircraft at its El Mirage flight facility on May 9, 2023. The Heavy Fuel Engine (HFE) 2.0 is being considered by the U.S. Army to become the fleet replacement for the current 180-horsepower engine used by the Gray Eagle Extended Range (GE-ER) Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS). HFE 2.0 is also the cornerstone of the modernized Gray Eagle 25M (GE-25M) aircraft currently being developed under a U.S. Army-funded program to support future Multi-Domain Operations (MDO) missions.
GA-ASI initiated the Internal Research and Development program that led to HFE 2.0 in 2016 with the goal of designing and developing a more reliable and durable engine that would also address diminishing manufacturing sources for aviation heavy fuel engines and components. GA-ASI and its affiliate General Atomics Europe partnered with global leaders in high-performance engines—supported by propulsion technology innovator Cosworth—to develop an engine with increased horsepower, durability, and reliability. GA-ASI also brought in General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) to design and build the engine’s dual brushless generators, which will dramatically reduce field maintenance and deliver over 50 percent more electrical power for new payloads and mission capabilities.
“We’re very excited to see GE-ER powered by this new state-of-the-art propulsion system,” said GA-ASI President Dave Alexander. “In order to ensure the highest reliability and durability, we brought together a world-class team from across industry and leveraged our extensive HFE experience to deliver this solution. We’re proud to make this engine available to our U.S. Army customer.”
The design effort was focused on reducing field maintenance and extending the time between engine replacement by 40 percent over the current engine.
HFE 2.0 will continue to undergo planned IRAD flight tests and begin qualification testing this year.

I haven’t had a good shoot the shit in quite a while so it’s time. I don’t know about you but I’ve reached my limit on the “CLIMAT CRISIS” alarms. We have people committing suicide, seeking psychological help, and taking drugs because they bought the climate crisis story. So, this shoot the shit will address OZONE depletion and climate change. For those unfamiliar with a shoot the shit, it’s a social interaction during which any topic can be discussed, participants don’t need to know anything about the topic, they are free to use uncensored profanity, make any unsupported comment and insult anyone they wish. Unlike sitting with a psychologist, who broadly speaking is a jackass who majored in psychology so they could understand themselves, paying them $150+ per hour, a shoot the shit saves you the $150+.
So, let’s get started.
To talk about the ozone layer, we need to understand Earth’s atmospheric layers. The image above should clear that up for you.
When we talk about the Ozone layer, we are talking about ozone that exists in Earth’s stratosphere. Ozone, which is nothing more than O3, is a product of Q2 (oxygen) acted upon by solar ultraviolet light. When O2 is radiated by UV you get O3 or ozone. Ozone in the stratosphere acts like your sun blocker, it limits the amount of ultraviolet light that reaches the earth. Higher concentrations of UV reaching earth are problematic for humans who are susceptible to skin cancers; however, increased ultraviolet light accelerates photosynthesis, which is the process plant life uses to sustain itself. So, the takeaway here is that Ozone is generated by sunlight acting on oxygen, this is the good ozone. There’s also “bad ozone” which is the ozone you’ll find in the troposphere. Bad ozone comes from tropospheric POLLUTANTS chemically reacting in the presence of sunlight. I’ll pause here to talk about sources of oxygen.
Oxygen, which is needed to replenish the ozone layer comes from 2 sources: The majority of O2 comes from oceanic plankton, drifting plants, algae, and some bacteria that can photosynthesize and, in the process, generating O2, they consume carbon dioxide. The other source comes from landmass vegetation. So, ocean pollution and deforestation are areas of great concern. This is a BIG Deal because the O2 they generate is needed to produce stratospheric, or good ozone.
Fossil fuels require combustion which consume oxygen and generate carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide and other contaminants produced by fossil fuels react in sunlight to produce tropospheric ozone otherwise known as bad ozone. This type of ozone acts as low level insulation to prevent thermal transfer trapping heat causing warming. So, should we limit fossil fuel use, the answer is yes, but you don’t want to make decision via anal extraction, we want to make informed decision. We can reduce global CO2 by cracking down on oceanic pollution and deforestation. We should aggressively fund carbon dioxide scrubbing technology, which is available as of this writing. We should replace fossil fuels with nuclear power. A 1.1Giga Watt nuclear power plant costs about $9 billion to build, and that includes financing costs. It’s not just clean, it takes up less land than littering solar panels and wind turbines all over the planet, and they are refueled at 2-year intervals.
Note that any action taken by the United States to reduce carbon emissions is as effective as a pay toilet in a diarrhea ward when you have China (the #1 carbon emitter in the world) and India (#3 global carbon emitter) not participating. Pollution is what needs to be addressed.
You need to think about climate crisis as a way of herding the uninformed into following. When 9-11 happened, the country rose and united to defeat terrorism. The climate crisis extravaganza is being advanced to achieve the same effect. We have the wherewithal to successfully tackle the source of the problem, which is pollution. But, to succeed, we need to get politics out of the equation.
Stratospheric ozone depletion is not responsible for climate change.

NSSF Files Motion to Enjoin Unconstitutional California Firearm Industry Liability Law
WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, filed a motion for a preliminary injunction in its legal challenge, NSSF v. Bonta, seeking to enjoin California’s firearm industry liability law, AB 1594, that was passed last year and signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom. The unconstitutional law permits and encourages civil suits against members of the firearm industry for the damages caused by the actions of criminals. This law is an affront to the U.S. Constitution and abuses the judicial system in an attempt to circumvent the will of the U.S. Congress when it passed the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA). The law goes into effect July 23. NSSF’s motion to enjoin was filed by Clement & Murphy, PLLC.
NSSF’s motion argues that California’s firearm industry liability law is preempted by the federal Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA) which was passed with bipartisan support in Congress and subsequently signed into law by President George W. Bush in 2005. The PLCAA was specifically enacted to stamp out frivolous lawsuits sought by activist politicians, gun control lawyers and greedy trial lawyers seeking to bankrupt the lawful firearm industry by blaming them and their lawfully-sold and non-defective products for the violence and harm caused by criminals who misuse firearms to commit their crimes.
“It’s no surprise California’s rabidly antigun General Assembly would pass and Governor Gavin Newsom would sign into law a blatantly unconstitutional attack on the lawful firearm industry instead of looking in the mirror to see how their own policies are leading to historic levels of criminal violence and endangering law-abiding and innocent Californians every day,” said NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel Lawrence G. Keane. “NSSF will not stand by and allow the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans, or the Constitutional protections of the industry that provides the means of exercising those rights, to be trampled upon while criminals committing acts of violence are handled with kid gloves by soft-on-crime prosecutors. California’s industry liability law is in blatant defiance of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Bruen and is preempted by the PLCAA. NSSF will continue to defend our constitutionally-protected industry against the broadsides of Governor Newsom and his extremist antigun agenda.”
NSSF’s challenge explains that AB 1594 is a law that was drafted prior to the Bruen decision and signed just weeks after the Supreme Court published the landmark ruling. Rather than re-examining the legislation to ensure it complied with Supreme Court precedent, Gov. Newsom dismissed the Court’s decision and forged ahead, challenging the ruling when he signed it.
In addition to the firearm industry liability provision, California’s AB 1594 bans the manufacture, sale and marketing of firearms the state deems “abnormally dangerous” regardless of if they are commonly-owned. It allows civil lawsuits against a firearm industry member to be filed by a person who has suffered harm in California, the Attorney General, or even city or county attorneys for the harm caused by the criminal misuse of a firearm by a remote third party. The law unconstitutionally invades the sovereignty of sister states by directly regulating lawful commerce occurring entirely and wholly outside the state of California in violation of the Commerce Clause and the United States’ system of federalism.
Further, the law not only infringes on Second Amendment rights but chills First Amendment rights by restricting protected free-speech advertising of Constitutionally-protected products that are lawfully made and sold – even when that advertising takes place outside of California’s borders.

The 2.2-inch blade is made from Japanese 420J2 stainless steel that has been heat-treated and hand-finished to achieve a long-lasting razor-sharp edge. When it finally dulls, no worries – you can replace it quickly, easily, and safely with the push of a button thanks to the patented Outdoor Edge RazorSafe® system that features a flush mount blade release button. The blade is held securely in place with durable 420J2 stainless steel providing the strength of a traditional knife, and the knife handle is made from rugged ABS polymer with stainless steel liners for both long life and a no-slip grip. The RaxorMini has an overall length is just 5.1 inches and compatible with all 220 blades.
Two replacement blades are included with each knife.
