The Mike Harvey Video Series “Boom” Features How the Tuco™ Special 1860 Conversion Was Created![]()
Part of the Cimarron Firearms Trio of “The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly”, the Tuco™, named after the character played by Eli Wallach in the movie, is one of Cimarron’s best-selling conversion revolvers to this date.

Fredericksburg, Texas (June 2023) – Mike Harvey, founder and president of Cimarron Firearms, and “professor emeritus” of American Western history and lore, is back on the firing range in a new Cimarron Firearms YouTube “BOOM!!!” video. In this episode, Harvey, donning a Mexican sombrero adorned with a stuffed blackbird, fires off a few rounds at the Cimarron firing range and is back in his office to explain how the popular Cimarron Firearms Tuco™ Special 1860 Conversion 7.5” .45 LC revolver came into existence.
With the surprising success of the “Man with No Name” 1851 conversion revolver, a replica designed after the gun carried by Clint Eastwood in “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly,” Cimarron quickly determined that the next movie replica had to be the fans favorite Tuco replica. In the movie, Tuco Benedicto Pacifico Juan Maria Ramirez, or Tuco, played by Eli Wallach, is seen making a gun by assembling different guns together in a shop. Cimarron designed the Tuco version and Uberti manufactured it.
The Tuco is a conversion revolver in .45 Colt with a Leech and Rigdon-style 7.5” barrel finished in a cold case-hardened blue with a brass trigger guard and grip frame, smooth wood grip, and completed with a lanyard ring, just like the one the character Tuco carried in the movie. When designing the revolver, Harvey expanded on the loading rod concept and created an “ejector” rod that slides into the loading rod. When the piece is pulled away from the gun, the ejector pick can be used to poke the rounds out of the chamber after firing and easily reinserted and closed against the gun after cleaning and reloading. Uberti has liked Harvey’s invention and has continued to employ it in other cartridge revolvers.
The Tuco replica is available at your favorite dealer with an MSRP of $677.76.

Bond Arms® Brings A Heavy Hitter to the Market with the Cyclops .45-70
![]()
![]()

Granbury, TX (June 13, 2023) – Bond Arms® is well known for producing some of the best quality derringers in the North American market. Not only do their handguns come in a wide range of calibers, but they make a statement, and the manufacturing of these derringers is second to none. Built rugged, tough, and dependable, each of the offerings from Bond Arms® often surpasses consumer expectations.
And yet, Bond Arms® is exceeding expectations again. While derringers are often considered small rimfire calibers and expand into standard pistol calibers, including some magnum cartridges, they don’t usually come chambered in a traditional rifle caliber. That is, until now.
Announced at SHOT Show 2023, Bond Arms began production of a .45-70 derringer named the Cyclops. Coming in at 28 oz, the Cyclops is built stronger and more durable than ever. This 4.25 in. barrel is fitted into a single action frame and is only the first release in a new series of big bore derringers slated to be released in 50 AE, 454 casull, and 44 magnum.
This model does vary from other pistol options from Bond Arms. Unlike the traditional over/under staple, the Cyclops is a single shot only. The lack of a secondary chambering adds additional weight to the pistol and mitigates some felt recoil in a cartridge as large as the .45-70. It comes with an extended and proprietary B6 resin grip. Changes have been made to the grip to make it more ergonomic and easier to shoot. These sights are no different than most Bond Arms’ options and fixed to the frame and barrel.
The Cyclops comes in at a mesmerizing 6.75 in. overall and a hefty 7 lb trigger pull. This handgun is a TON of fun to shoot. So, if someone wants to make a statement at the range, the Cyclops is the perfect derringer!
Many of the Bond Arms® barrels can be swapped to various frames. The Cyclops frame will not be compatible with the Hand Cannon, Stinger, or Stinger RS barrels.

NSSF Commends Texas Gov. Abbott for Supporting Second Amendment Rights, Protecting Financial Privacy of Gun Owners
Gov. Abbott Continues to Support Firearm Industry Protections by Enacting Financial Privacy Bill

![]()
WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, praised Texas Gov. Greg Abbott after he signed into law legislation to safeguard the personal financial information of Texas gun owners and those making firearm industry-related purchases while using a credit card at gun retailers. Gov. Abbott enacted the financial privacy protections by signing into law HB 2837, the Second Amendment Financial Privacy Act.
The new law takes effect Sept. 1, 2023, and ensures that financial institutions and credit card companies are prohibited from using a Merchant Category Code (MCC) to track and share customers’ private financial information when they purchase firearms, ammunition and related equipment and accessories at firearm retail stores. The law also protects gun owners from political and financial retaliation for exercising their Second Amendment rights and safeguards against the possible creation of a “back-door” firearm ownership registry.
“Governor Greg Abbott has done it once again and fulfilled his duties to ensure Texans know their Second Amendment rights won’t fall victim to a radical ‘woke’ antigun agenda that seeks to weaponize the credit cards in gun owners’ wallets,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “Americans exercising their right to legally purchase firearms, ammunition and other related accessories should never be concerned that their lawful and everyday purchases could be used against them by private financial service providers or government authorities simply for exercising their Second Amendment rights. The firearm retailer MCC was suspiciously created to do just that and to track names and financial data by including it in a government-accessible watchlist. Gov. Abbott put the Second Amendment barricades up for Texas gun owners by signing this critical legislation into law. Gun owners should worry about what’s in their wallet, not who’s in their wallet.”
In late 2022, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) announced it would create a unique MCC, at the behest of Amalgamated Bank, a progressive activist bank which has been described as “the Left’s Private Banker.” The firearm retailer-specific MCC would allow credit card companies to monitor transactions at firearm retailers. The major credit card companies, including Mastercard, American Express, VISA and Discover, all announced they were suspending plans to implement the unique firearm retailer MCC following significant opposition by NSSF and several state governments.
With the enactment of the Second Amendment Financial Privacy Act, Texas joins North Dakota, Montana, Florida, West Virginia, Mississippi and Idaho in enacting laws to protect firearm purchasers’ privacy when using credit cards at firearm retailers. Legislation similar to these state laws is pending in Congress.
Two years ago, in June 2021, Gov. Abbott took a nation-leading role by being the first governor to sign into law the Financial Industry Nondiscrimination (FIND) Act to prevent “woke” corporations from profiting from Texas taxpayer dollars and using those profits to fund efforts to deny those same taxpayers their Second Amendment rights. That law requires corporations seeking to do business with the state and local governments to certify that they hold no policies that discriminate against firearms or ammunition companies and will not implement any such policies while the contracts are in force. The law ensures that taxpayer-funded contracts aren’t used to benefit policies that discriminate against and deny services to firearm and ammunition-related businesses.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, has awarded $50,000 in scholarship funds to 20 students in its essay contest open to employees of Patron Member companies and their family members.
“We congratulate the scholarship winners and extend our appreciation to all who entered the essay contest,” said Samantha Hill, NSSF’s Director, Member Services, who oversees the NSSF Patron Member Scholarship Program. “In their winning essays, students explored issues that affect firearm ownership in America today and the future of target shooting and hunting. This scholarship program allows NSSF to recognize its Patron Member companies for their extraordinary commitment to their trade association.”
To earn one of the 20 scholarships offered, employees of NSSF Patron Member companies or their qualified family members submitted applications and essays on one of three topics:

· Does gun safety require new laws (a.k.a., “Gun Control”)? Explain and defend your position.
Earning the Grand Prize $8,000 scholarship was Kendall Boone, whose father is an employee at Olin Winchester. Kendall’s essay focused on expanding firearm safety and target shooting and hunting opportunities for minorities and under-represented groups through the development of free firearm education courses in urban regions.
Taking the First Prize scholarship of $5,000 was Victoria Wegley, whose father also works at Olin Winchester.
Earning the Second Prize scholarship of $3,000 was Andrew Harlow, who is employed at Sturm, Ruger & Co.

AG & AG DRIFT Academy: Firepower, Horsepower, and Everything in Between
A caravan of white Ford Crown Vics sped around a racetrack, deploying evasive techniques, PIT maneuvers, and off-road recoveries. The drivers inside were not law enforcement, executive protection, or military operators: they were suburban moms and grandmas, who wanted to master defensive skills to keep themselves and their families safe.
A Girl & A Gun’s DRIFT (Dynamic Real-world Immersive Firearms Training) Academy took place on June 6 – 8, 2023 at the Virginia International Raceway. It was the first training course of its kind that addressed all aspects of vehicle defense for women.
“The average American spends approximately 5% of her life in her vehicle,” says Robyn Sandoval, Executive Director of A Girl & A Gun (AG & AG). “While cars provide opportunities and independence, they also expose women to a lot of transitional and vulnerable spaces: parking lots, parking garages, gas stations, and more. This experience taught our members how to identify, stop, and evade a threat.”
Training focused on providing the full spectrum of skills and options needed to manage transitional spaces. Situational awareness, verbal de-escalation, deploying various levels of force, and evasive driving techniques will ensure that women stay safe in their everyday lives.
“I am so honored to be a member of A Girl & A Gun, which provides opportunities to train for real-life events,” says Sue Brozovsky of Roanoke, VA. “Over our 3 days, I gained insight into my current abilities and have a direction as to where I need to gain specific skills. I came away from this event with an attitude of humility and awe regarding the material that AG & AG, Chuck Haggard, and RFH Tactical Mobility provided.”
Day 1 began with a discussion of situational awareness and how to prepare gear to approach transitional spaces. “Enough force soon enough can prevent you from needing more force later,” says Chuck Haggard, lead instructor of Agile Training. He taught the attendees how to manage unknown contacts, avoid confrontations, and deploy oleoresin capsicum (pepper spray), if necessary. POM Pepper Spray was a sponsor of the event, and provided inert training canisters, as well as live agent canisters for each participant to take home.
Day 2 comprised live-fire and dry-fire training on the shooting range. Haggard described areas of the vehicle that could be used for cover, in the event of the escalation of force, and how to deploy a firearm from various positions. The ladies learned the angles, ballistics, and tactics of live-fire shooting in, around, and through vehicles.
“DRIFT Academy prepared me to survive real-world events that I hope I never have to experience,” says Marjorie Golden, who lives on the Pennsylvania/New Jersey border.
On Day 3, the attendees started the day with a vehicle lesson from Mike Evock, owner of RFH Tactical Mobility, before his cadre of instructors led the ladies through drills on escaping vehicle rollovers, skid maneuvers, high-speed driving, and more. Lead instructor Rick Henson facilitated training for the 20 attendees, who were teamed in 7 different vehicles.
“Escaping a vehicle rollover, plus learning to drive from the passenger side in the event of a driver down were two things I never considered or thought I could do,” says Margaret Kearns of Northern Virginia. “I also liked learning how to control vehicle skids. These skills could save my life. Thank you, AG & AG!”
Walther and Mossberg each donated a pistol to the event’s prize table, along with certificates from Hunters HD Gold and XS Sights. “DRIFT Academy was an exhilarating experience!” says Sandra Woodruff of Austin, TX. In addition to being a lot of fun, we learned very practical skills.”
“The knowledge I gained in a real-time, hands-on learning environment was incredible,” says Donna Denison, who frequents I-95 between residences in Maryland and Florida. “I could absolutely apply my newly acquired skills in my life if ever in a situation that called for them. The opportunity to practice the driving was top notch. The facility and staff were both spectacular. I feel extremely fortunate to have been given this opportunity to attend AG & AG’s DRIFT Academy, and would do it again, hands down.”
The next AG & AG DRIFT Academy will take place in Summer 2024. More information can be found at AGirlandAGun.org/drift.

NSSF Hails House of Representatives’ Passage of H.J. Res. 44 to Restore Congressional Authority to Make Law and Rein in Administrative Overreach

![]()
WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, hails the bipartisan passage of H.J. Res. 44 in the House of Representatives as a clear statement to the Biden administration that it is the role of Congress to make law, not unelected and unaccountable bureaucrats. H.J. Res. 44 passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 219-210 and nullifies the Final Rule issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) titled “Factoring Criteria for Firearms With Attached ‘Stabilizing Braces,’” published on January 31, 2023. The Final Rule established new criteria for determining whether a pistol equipped with an attached stabilizing arm brace is a short-barreled rifle (SBR) and thus subject to regulation (and registration) under the National Firearms Act. The Congressional Research Service estimates there could be upwards of 40 million braces in circulation today.
“NSSF praises the bipartisan passage in the House of Representative of House Joint Resolution 44 to place a much-needed check on the Biden administration’s abuse of the rule making process to turn millions of lawful firearm owners and members of the firearm industry into criminals with the mere stroke of a pen,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “For nearly a decade the ATF has determined stabilizing brace equipped pistols, initially designed to assist wounded warrior veterans to shoot safely and accurately, did not alter the classification of a pistol and that those pistols would not be subject to National Firearms Act regulation. The antigun whims of this administration changed all that by executive fiat. Federal courts have already issued numerous preliminary injunctions against enforcing this rule and stated the Executive Branch was overstepping its constitutional authority and infringing on the role of the Legislative Branch to make law. NSSF is grateful to U.S. Reps. Andrew Clyde (R-Ga.) and Richard Hudson (R-N.C.) for drafting the resolution and to Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) for ushering through this resolution to passage. The firearm industry strongly encourages the U.S. Senate to make the correct and similar stand for Congress to reassert its role and authority in drafting law.”
After publishing the Final Rule on Jan. 31, 2023, ATF announced that in order to remain compliant with the new rule, any law-abiding gun owner who possessed stabilizing arm braces attached to lawfully-purchased pistols had 120 days, or until June 31, 2023, to either remove the pistol’s shorter barrel and attach a longer rifled barrel; permanently remove and dispose of the brace; turn in the brace; destroy the brace; or register it with ATF.

FAA Announces Chart Data Change for Flights Outside U.S. Airspace
Notice Number: NOTC3038
Beginning June 15, the enroute chart products will implement ENR_23-01_CN_Foreign_Data_IFR_Charts_Revised.pdf (faa.gov). The FAA is changing how foreign aeronautical data is represented on instrument flight rules enroute charts for low and high altitude flights. Refer to charts from host countries for situational awareness for detailed and accurate non-U.S. data.
U.S. IFR Enroute Charts will join the FAA’s visual charting products by emphasizing the transition point beyond U.S. controlled airspace where aviators will then consult charting products of other nations or third-party providers.
The FAA does not reliably receive foreign data with sufficient lead times to produce the foreign areas of FAA charts with the same robust, for navigation, content as within U.S. airspace. Additionally, foreign aeronautical information is not supported by the U.S. NOTAM System.
The FAA charts will continue to provide aeronautical information for orientation and transition to the appropriate non-U.S. aeronautical information publications. Learn more here.
For aeronautical data or charting inquiries, visit the Aeronautical Information Portal (https://nfdc.faa.gov/nfdcApps/controllers/PublicSecurity/nfdcLogin).

NSSF Reminds Recreational Shooters to help Prevent Wildfires
Use of NSSF’s video and audio PSAs, poster and infographic are encouraged
![]()
WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, reminds outdoor recreationists, including target shooters and hunters, to take precautions so they don’t accidently ignite a wildfire.
NSSF’s “Help Prevent Wildfires” public service announcements campaign provides video and audio PSAs, an 8.5 x 11 poster, an infographic and shareable social media posts that remind recreational shooters and other outdoor enthusiasts to be mindful of their surroundings and to take precautions, such as:
There were 68,988 wildfires in 2022 that burned more than 7.5 million acres of land throughout the country, according to the National Interagency Fire Center. These fires—an increase from 2021 of more than 10,000 conflagrations and more than 400,000 acres consumed—caused billions of dollars in damage plus hardship for both people and wildlife. Wildfires are tragic in many ways, including that in most cases they can be prevented when people pay attention to their surroundings and follow safe practices. Some 90 percent of wildland fires in the United States are caused by human actions.
“After seeing the awful destruction and heartbreak wildfires can cause, no one would want to accidently be the cause of one,” said Joe Bartozzi, NSSF President and CEO. “As gun owners, we care about safeguarding our communities and our natural resources, and so we remind everyone to check the fire-danger levels in their area and take precautions before heading outdoors to pursue our warm-weather activities, including recreational shooting.”
NSSF encourages individuals and organizations to share the “Help Prevent Wildfires” public service announcements and infographic on their social media networks and to use the #GunOwnersCare hashtag.

Understanding Bullet Speed: How Distance Affects Armor
At Spartan Armor Systems, we pride ourselves on our commitment to quality, expertise, and education. We believe in empowering our customers with knowledge, and in this article, we delve into the complex world of ballistics. We’ll explore how distance affects bullet speed, penetration, and stopping power, and how this knowledge can help you better understand the effectiveness of body armor.

Balancing Weight and Protection in Body Armor
When it comes to gear, a common saying comes to mind: “Ounces equal pounds, and pounds equal pain.” This saying is frequently mentioned in camping and backpacking. This holds true in the case of body armor, albeit with a twist. Leisurely backpacking often allows for adjusting or discarding the weight of a pack. However, body armor, a crucial part of Military Personnel gear, is necessary when in the field.
