Huk’s BassCAR to Race in the Ally 400
Nashville, TN (June 23, 2023) – The No. 3 Huk Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 heads into the Ally 400 at Nashville Superspeedway on June 25 at 7 p.m. Eastern live on NBC. 2018 DAYTONA 500 Champion Austin Dillon will pilot Richard Childress Racing’s famed No. 3 car around the 1.33-mile concrete track, showcasing the “BassCar” paint scheme that debuted last season.
The Camaro features a Huk exclusive Inside Reef pattern in Overland Trek and Bass art by artist KC Scott. This car is sure to stand out from the crowd on race day. The paint scheme was nicknamed “The BassCAR” by the Richard Childress racing crew in 2022 and was so popular that it is returning to the track in 2023.

Additionally, RAFAEL’s agreement with HENSOLDT in the Elecronic Warfare domain, including the highly regarded Sky Shield/Kalaetron Wideband Electronic Attack and Escort Jamming Pod, further strengthens the expertise and synergy between the parties. The three parties together cover all necessary expertise to answer current and future demands in regard to stand-off and EW capabilities.
RAFAEL’s SPICE 250 ER system, derived from the combat-proven SPICE Family of highly automated Human-in-the-loop air-to-surface systems, serves as the foundation for this collaboration. The SPICE 250 ER employs a turbojet engine, enabling it to operate at extended stand-off ranges. Therefore, managing to cope with for example today’s long-range Air Defense threats.
With its modularity Spice 250 ER allows for carrying enhanced payloads by replacing the traditional warhead. It now provides Suppression of Enemy Air Defense (SEAD) capabilities. Furthermore, the SPICE 250 ER incorporates standardized electrical and physical interfaces found across the SPICE Family, optimizing platform integration and reducing the life cycle cost.
By joining forces, RAFAEL, Diehl Defence, and HENSOLDT aim to deliver an advanced solution that meets the evolving needs of modern warfare. The collaborative effort ensures the German Luftwaffe benefits from the combined expertise and state-of-the-art technology contributed by each partner.

SENTRY Products Group™ 1082 Mounting Array Offers 21st Solution to the Age-Old Problem of Packing the Gear
Refining Individual Load-Carrying Equipment systems, SENTRY Products Group patented 1082 Mounting Array offers soldiers, police, security, and outdoor enthusiast the most customizable mounting platform available on the market.
Innovations are born out of need. One such example is MOLLE (Modular Lightweight Load-Carrying Equipment system) developed in 1997. MOLLE was built on the PALS (Pouch Attachment Ladder System), which was a grid of horizontal rows spaced 1” apart, providing the user the ability to attach pouches and accessories. These innovations saw rapid adoption across the industry and battlefield, allowing individuals to securely affix pouches and accessories to vests, packs, and belts dependent upon the mission and significantly increasing their capabilities.
While this advancement was significant, problems multiplied as additional gear was issued and intended for use in the limited space. The repeating grid of the PALS system meant that to relocate a pouch, the option was a vertical adjustment of 2”, or a horizontal adjustment of 1”. This restriction limited optimizing gear placement for easy access or as to not restrict movements.
SENTRY Products Group™ developed and patented the 1082 Mounting Array to combat the issues current MOLLE systems face, revolutionizing how a soldier’s kit is worn, and gear is accessorized. This technology is the basis of their Gunnar Series of carriers, vests, belts, and pouches. The advantage to the Mounting Array is that the placement of the apertures significantly multiplies the mounting options available over traditional systems, with relocation increments of ½” vertical and ¾” horizontal allowing for more precise gear placement.
SENTRY has also addressed several issues associated with old-school gear through a combination of material choice and construction methods. The material used is an advanced laminate comprised of 1000 Denier and 500 Denier nylon. Strong, and extremely abrasion resistant, this combination is lighter and more stable than multiple layers or 1000 Denier which was traditionally used. Unlike traditional PALS construction, where the ladders were mounted to the base platform increasing weight and comprising the base structure, the patented 1082 Mounting Array removes material sections to create the Mounting Array. Finally, an attribute of the laminate material is that it is hydrophobic, meaning is does not absorb moisture. For any waterborne operators and operators wearing their kits in damp or rainy environments, this feature keeps their kits from getting waterlogged and adding additional weight.
SENTRY has multiple designs to fit Swimmers Cut and Shooters Cut plates in either traditional or low-profile designs. Sizing is done by the individuals plate size. Shoulder straps are anatomically cut to allow for better load balance, padded for comfort, and adjustable for overall length. The three cummerbund options have the same Mounting Array to accept pouches and accessories, and are available in multiple sizes to adapt to operator waist size.
You can accessorize your kit with SENTRY’s full line of pouches utilizing the same laminate materials for high strength and weight reduction. The pouches utilize SENTRY’s Variable Mounting Platform. This system allows the pouches to be mounted using an integrated lightweight strap, and aftermarket MOLLE straps and clips or ALICE clips. “This document reviews areas that must be taken into consideration when conducting range cleaning to ensure the safety of range personnel, employees, and those handling the waste stream for collection, transport, and disposal,” said Alan Serven, SAAMI’s Sr. Director, Technical Affairs.

NSSF Condemns USFWS Proposed Rule to Ban Traditional Ammunition on New Refuge Openings
WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, condemns the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) Proposed Rule that would ban the use of traditional lead ammunition on 48 new distinct hunting opportunities across approximately 3,000 acres of National Wildlife Refuges (NWRs). This is another illustration of the Biden administration’s Department of the Interior (DOI) and USFWS kowtowing to anti-hunting activists by promulgating policies that lack sound scientific data.
“This is the latest example of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service creating rules that punish hunters, threaten conservation funding and advance special interests without sound scientific evidence that traditional lead ammunition cause is causing detrimental wildlife population impacts,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “This administration is ignoring its promise to ‘follow the science.’ In fact, it is ignoring the need for scientific evidence in order to advance an antigun and anti-hunting agenda. The need for Congress to pass the Protecting Access for Hunters and Anglers Act has never been more urgent.”
The USFWS announced three national wildlife refuges are proposing to expand opportunities for hunting. These refuges are Cahaba River National Wildlife Refuge in Alabama, Everglades Headwaters National Wildlife Refuge in Florida and Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge in Minnesota. The proposed rule, appearing in the Federal Register, includes proposals to phase out lead ammunition at eight national wildlife refuges. USFWS claims to follow the best available science yet offers no peer-reviewed site-specific scientific data to demonstrate traditional ammunition is causing detrimental wildlife population impacts.
NSSF urges Congress to quickly pass U.S. Rep. Robert Wittman’s Protecting Access for Hunters and Anglers Act, H.R. 615, which would ensure America’s number one resource of conservation funding remains in place and that hunters, recreational shooters and anglers throughout the nation can continue to enjoy America’s sporting heritage. Excise taxes paid by firearm and ammunition manufacturers have contributed over $16 billion since 1937, or $25 billion when adjusted for inflation, for wildlife and habitat conservation. It is the leading funding source for wildlife restoration. Over $1.6 billion was apportioned to the states for wildlife conservation projects last year, with $1.19 billion of that sourced to excise taxes paid by firearm and ammunition manufacturers. The bill passed the U.S. House Natural Resources Committee on a bipartisan vote earlier this week.
Rep. Wittman’s legislation, along with U.S. Sen. Steve Daines’ (R-Mont.) companion legislation S. 1185 of the same name, would require the Secretaries of the Interior and Agriculture to provide site-specific peer-reviewed scientific data in cooperation with state agencies that demonstrates traditional lead ammunition or fishing tackle is causing detrimental wildlife population impacts before prohibiting their use by hunters and anglers.
The Final Rule published last year to similarly ban traditional ammunition and fishing tackle while opening hunting and fishing opportunities was part of “sue and settle” litigation between the Center for Biological Diversity and the USFWS and was implemented without scientific evidence or consultation of state agencies.
Requiring the use of alternative ammunition would put a significant cost barrier to participation in hunting and fishing on lands. Alternative ammunition is, on average, 25 percent more expensive than traditional lead ammunition and less available. That barrier would “price out” many hunters and anglers and decrease the excise tax funding paid by firearm and ammunition manufacturers they support.
NSSF urges all outdoorsmen and women to provide comments on the Proposed Rule voicing their concerns that this threat to conservation funding lacks any sound scientific data and only harms participation in hunting and fishing on public lands.

NSSF Disappointed by U.S. Senators Voting Down Pistol Brace Resolution
WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, was disappointed by U.S. senators who voted along party lines in a 49-50 vote to reject H.J. Res. 44, which was passed with a bipartisan vote in the House of Representatives last week.
“This vote was disappointing, if not expected. We are deeply troubled by the unchecked growth of the administrative state that threatens our fundamental rights and liberty,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel.
H.J. Res. 44 was intended to nullify the Final Rule issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) titled “Factoring Criteria for Firearms With Attached ‘Stabilizing Braces,’” published on Jan. 31, 2023. The Final Rule established new criteria for determining whether a pistol equipped with an attached stabilizing arm brace is a short-barreled rifle (SBR) and thus subject to regulation (and registration) under the National Firearms Act. The Congressional Research Service estimates there could be upwards of 40 million braces that have been lawfully purchased over the past decade after ATF determined affixing a brace did not convert a pistol into a rifle.
Several senators, who face reelections in states where gun rights are critical to voters ceded their authority as legislators to the Executive Branch to unilaterally draft criminal law allowing their constituents to be turned into criminals by administrative fiat.
“These senators must now explain to their constituents why they failed to act to safeguard against the Biden administration’s executive overreach that is chipping away at their fundamental Constitutional rights,” said Keane. “Come election day, NSSF will work to educate gun owners in these states about how these legislators turned their backs on the Second Amendment and failed to uphold their duties as lawmakers who write the law not the Executive Branch. Failing to maintain the balance of power grants unchecked authority to President Biden to run roughshod on citizens’ rights.”
Those senators voting against H.J. Res. 44 and facing tight reelection bids include: Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.), Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.), Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) and Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.).
After publishing the Final Rule, ATF announced that in order to remain compliant with the new rule, any law-abiding gun owner who possessed stabilizing arm braces attached to lawfully-purchased pistols had 120 days, or until May 31, 2023, to either remove the pistol’s shorter barrel and attach a longer rifled barrel; permanently remove and dispose of the brace; turn in the brace; destroy the brace; or register it with ATF.
Failing to do any of the options presented puts brace owners in jeopardy of criminal enforcement.

ASA Update – Q1 & Q2 2023

Dear ASA Supporter,
It’s hard to believe 2023 is already almost half way through! The team at ASA has been incredibly active, working in Washington, DC, Washington state, and a ton of places in between. We are working hard to improve our communication with you, our members and supporters, because we know that up until now that communication has lacked consistency and depth. You deserve to know what your contributions are funding, so in the spirit of transparency we will begin circulating quarterly updates, beginning today with an update on Q1 and Q2 of this year. Buckle up, because we’ve got a lot of ground to cover!
DEFEATED SUPPRESSOR BAN IN VIRGINIA
2023 began at a sprint, with full suppressor ban and confiscation bills introduced in Virginia and New Mexico. In Virginia, ASA helped fight Delegate Dan Helmer’s House Bill 2240 by coordinating efforts with our counterparts at NRA-ILA and testifying in opposition. Thankfully, Helmer’s bill was killed in the Virginia House Public Safety Subcommittee, ending the possibility of anti-suppressor legislation in Virginia this year.
DEFEATED SUPPRESSOR BAN IN NEW MEXICO
The threat loomed larger in New Mexico, where ASA went toe to toe with Senator William Soules, the lead author of Senate Bill 171. On two days’ notice, ASA Vice President Owen Miller and I flew to Santa Fe to meet with legislators and provide testimony in opposition to the bill. We explained that suppressors are just a highly regulated safety device that every law abiding citizen should have access to, and that banning them would do nothing other than deprive New Mexicans of one of the most effective tools available to help protect their hearing.
Much to our surprise, the anti-gun legislators actually listened! Minutes after we testified, Senator Soules proposed an amendment to remove the suppressor ban from his legislation. I’ve been lobbying for suppressors for 12 years, and I’ve never seen a legislator amend their bill on the spot like that. It was truly remarkable. The amended measure passed by a 6 to 1 vote, after which the immediate threat to suppressors in New Mexico was over. That said, we will keep our eye on New Mexico because it could easily return in the future.
FOUGHT ANTI-SUPPRESSOR LEGISLATION IN WASHINGTON STATE
In Washington state, the Second Amendment community wasn’t so lucky. Representative Strom Peterson’s House Bill 1240, one of the most aggressively anti-gun “assault weapon” bans in the nation, passed the legislature and was signed into law. Although the new law doesn’t outright ban suppressors, it does severely infringe upon law-abiding citizens’ right to use them on their semi-automatic firearms. We spent several days on the ground in Olympia, testifying in opposition to the bill and working with our partners at the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation to educate as many members as possible about the merits of suppressors. In the end, our arguments fell on deaf ears and the measure became law. Nothing in politics is certain, but we do expect this law to be overturned by the courts.
FOUGHT ANTI-SUPPRESSOR LEGISLATION IN COLORADO
In Colorado, ASA was part of the coalition that defeated yet another “assault weapons” ban, House Bill 23-1230. ASA Vice President Owen Miller testified in opposition to the bill, noting during his testimony that any restriction on threaded barrels is a direct infringement on law-abiding citizens’ ability to use a suppressor. Nearly 600 ASA members in Colorado contacted their legislators to voice their opposition as well. This time, our voices were heard and the bill was tabled indefinitely!
ASA-F AND SILENCER SHOP SUE TO END ILLINOIS’ SUPPRESSOR BAN
On the litigation front, the newly formed ASA Foundation and Silencer Shop have teamed up to support Anderson v. Raoul, a lawsuit challenging the state of Illinois’ suppressor ban. After last summer’s Bruen ruling, we knew it was time to get to work on a case that would apply the Second Amendment’s protections to the states. Simply put, any state’s ban on suppressor ownership and possession is an unconstitutional violation of the Second Amendment that we will challenge and ultimately overturn. Since day one, 50 state legality has been a cornerstone goal for ASA. We believe this lawsuit, along with two more that we plan to file, are the key to achieving that goal.

Keane. “Firearm and ammunition manufacturers have paid over $16 billion – or over $25 billion when adjusted for inflation – since 1937 which has been the leading funding source of wildlife and habitat conservation in American. Efforts by bureaucrats to limit or eliminate the use of traditional lead ammunition and fishing tackle puts those conservation funds at serious risk by increasing the cost and creating barriers to participation in outdoor recreation. The approval of this legislation by the House Natural Resources Committee is a significant step to protecting wildlife conservation and preserving access to our public lands.”
This NSSF-supported legislation would require the Secretaries of the Interior and Agriculture to provide site-specific peer-reviewed scientific data in cooperation with state agencies that demonstrates traditional lead ammunition or fishing tackle is causing detrimental wildlife population impacts before prohibiting their use by hunters and anglers. The bill is in response to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) pulling a bait-and-switch that put hunters and anglers in a bind last year by opening up more National Wildlife Refuges (NWRs) for hunting and fishing but at the same time outlawing the use of traditional lead ammunition and fishing tackle.
The final rule was part of a “sue and settle” litigation between the Center for Biological Diversity and the USFWS and was implemented without scientific evidence or consultation of state agencies.
Requiring the use of alternative ammunition would put a significant cost barrier to participation in hunting and fishing on public lands. Alternative ammunition is, on average, 25 percent more expensive than traditional lead ammunition and less available. That barrier would “price out” many hunters and anglers and decrease the excise tax funding paid by firearm and ammunition manufacturers they support.
Rep. Wittman told the committee, “Our hunters and anglers help restore wildlife and habitat… These lands belong to the people of this nation and we should never forget that.”
Chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee Bruce Westerman (R-Ark.) said, “My friends rely on public lands… if you have huge increases in cost, you’re going to encourage people to leave this sport.”
He added that the Protecting Access for Hunters and Anglers Act would prevent hunting and fishing from becoming an “elitist” activity where “only those who can afford increased costs have access to public lands.”

The two-day event, held outside of Bozeman, Montana, was a new challenge and competition for the dynamic duo.
Columbia Falls, Mont. (June 2023) –The Tactical Games Sniper Challenge was a new competition for PROOF Research®’s Weapons Test Specialist Greg Hamilton and Sean Murphy of Nightforce Optics, but it did not slow down their winning streak. The duo took 1st Place Team at the Tactical Games Sniper Challenge which took place outside of Bozeman, Montana at the TacTic Range, from June 10 – 11, 2023.
The challenge tested the teams’ target recognition, ranging, wind calling, non-standard shooting positions, problem-solving, and physical stress management. The challenge also used time-plus scoring, emphasizing speed as a component during engagements, with hefty penalties for targets not hit, or failed to be engaged.
“The Tactical Games Sniper Challenge was a new event for us that required a lot of preparation due to the shooting and physical components,” Murphy explained. “We chose the Conviction rifle due to its precision capability in a lightweight package for carrying across multiple miles of Montana hills. The performance of these rifles was as expected, delivering precise shots on target and allowing us to excel.”
Murphy shot as primary using a PROOF Research Conviction 6mm Creedmoor rifle and Greg Hamilton shot as secondary using a PROOF Research .223 Conviction rifle.
