Range USA Garners NSSF Five-Star Range Rating

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, has recognized Range USA with its coveted Five-Star rating for range excellence. Five stars is the highest rating in NSSF’s star-rating system, which evaluates shooting facilities based on appearance, management, shooting sports developments and amenities.
Consisting of 50 stores operating across 14 states, Range USA’s first location — initially branded as Point Blank Range & Gun Shop — opened in Cincinnati in 2012. It quickly expanded outside of the Greater Cincinnati area, adding four locations over the next three years. In late 2021, Point Blank Range rebranded to Range USA to coincide with the launch of its 36th store. Last year, Range USA opened its 50th location in Chester, Va. Additional stores are slated to open later this year.

“Range USA’s remarkable consistency across all its locations ensures each stands out as a premier destination for customers. Every store delivers an outstanding customer experience, top-class facilities and a variety of education and safety resources,” said Zach Snow, NSSF Director, Member Development. “The Range USA team’s commitment to developing responsible gun owners while keeping their locations welcoming, clean and safe makes them a valuable addition to NSSF’s family of Five-Star shooting ranges.”
Range USA Founder and CEO Tom Willingham was inspired to open the first Cincinnati location after a frustrating first visit to a gun shop and indoor range. With no previous experience in the firearm industry, he sought to create an experience where customers were put first. Since its inception, over 10 million customers have shot on Range USA ranges, over 25 million people have visited their stores and more than 300,000 students have completed classes or private lessons.
“We are honored to be recognized by NSSF for this achievement. Delivering the best range experience for our customers is something we take great pride in, and this recognition means a lot to our team. We remain committed to setting the standard for safety and an outstanding overall experience at Range USA,” Willingham said.
Education is a core focus for Range USA. Each location provides a variety of classes to appeal to both new and seasoned shooters. Online and in-person classes, with certified instructors and on-site classrooms, ensure education is accessible for all students.

Range USA’s membership program is a core driver of its customer experience and ongoing engagement. Designed to deliver clear, everyday value, memberships provide benefits such as unlimited range time, guest privileges and access to exclusive events —making it easy for customers to visit more often and stay involved. Multiple membership tiers allow customers to choose the level that best fits their needs, while special-priced Defender memberships ensure accessibility for law enforcement, military, veterans and first responders.
Special events are hosted at each Range USA facility. A popular offering is Lady Sure Shots, a women’s-only shooting club. Events are held monthly, with all experience levels welcome. Lady Sure Shots’ Memberships provide additional amenities for women, with free rentals, range time and a guest during these events.
Each Range USA is outfitted with at least 20, 25-yard indoor shooting lanes for pistol and long gun enthusiasts. Ranges include soundproofing, bulletproof glass, AR500 steel and baffled ceilings. Climate-controlled, HEPA-filtered air at 75 Cubic Feet per Minute (CFM) ensures the air on every range is comfortable and clean.

In addition to an indoor shooting facility, every Range USA location includes a dedicated retail store showroom to showcase firearms, ammunition and accessories. More than 50,000 products are available through its e-commerce site.
Range USA’s leadership stance is on display through its annual philanthropic and environmental efforts. Each store is mined for lead at least one to two times per year, and Range USA collects more than 1 million pounds of brass shell casings from its ranges every year. Additionally, Range USA makes regular in-kind donations to Project ChildSafe® in support of the industry’s firearm safety education program.
