Upland picks: High Noon
North Kansas City, MO (November 2, 2026) – The side-by-side is the oldest silhouette in the uplands, and the hardest one to get right. The Akkar USA High Noon Series was built to honor that tradition without asking shooters compromise fit. Offered in 12, 20, 28-gauge, and .410 bore, each High Noon is scaled to its cartridge.
Rather than building every model around a single action, Akkar gives each gauge its own receiver size. The result is a shotgun that comes to the shoulder with the balance and between-the-hands feel the gauge deserves, whether a shooter is walking early-season doves with the .410 or working a rooster field with the 12.
Each shotgun carries a 28-inch glossy blue barrel topped with a raised ventilated rib. At 9mm, the rib width is purpose-chosen: it delivers a stable, consistent sight picture without the ultra-wide barrel view that many side-by-sides present, helping shooters track a bird rather than read a barrel. All gauges are chambered 2¾–3 inches, giving hunters and clay shooters room to match loads to the task at hand.
Five flush chokes come standard with every High Noon, allowing shooters to tune patterns for tight cover, open country, or a round of skeet without adding bulk to the muzzle. An intuitive tang safety with integrated barrel selector keeps operation simple and familiar, putting both functions under the thumb where they belong.
The receivers have a high-gloss OxyCap finish that sharpens the gun’s appearance while protecting it against weather, handling, and the ordinary abuse of a full season. Butt stocks feature a Prince of Wales grip with enhanced checkering, a combination that fills the hand comfortably and holds securely through repeated shots and damp mornings alike.
For shooters who want a step up, the High Noon Elite adds tastefully engraved receivers and upgraded High Select wood. The mechanical package remains the same proven platform; the Elite dresses it in the kind of detail that earns a second look at the tailgate and a place in the gun cabinet.
