CE Smith to Attend NATM Show in Nashville, Tennessee

Greensboro, NC (February 17, 2024) – C.E. The NATM Convention and Trade Show provides the trailer industry an opportunity to expand their knowledge and skill set, all while networking with industry leaders and learning about the latest products in the industry through a series of cutting-edge technical forums, high-quality educational workshops, and networking events. The event also features industry awards that celebrate and recognize top industry professionals. The event is a one-stop shop where trailer manufacturers and dealers can meet with suppliers and service providers as they exhibit on the trade show floor.

GA News: General Atomics and EDGE Establish Partnership To Manufacture, Test and Repair Electromechanical Systems

GENERAL ATOMICS AND EDGE ESTABLISH PARTNERSHIP TO MANUFACTURE,
TEST AND REPAIR ELECTROMECHANICAL SYSTEMS


SAN DIEGO – 17 February 2025 – EPI, an entity of EDGE Group and the cornerstone of precision engineering in the UAE’s aerospace, oil and gas, and defense industries, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with General Atomics-Systems Integration, an affiliate of General Atomics.

The signing ceremony was held on February 17, 2025, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre during the International Defense Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) 2025.

“Through this collaboration, EPI will significantly expand its capabilities. This will include the establishment of a state-of-the-art facility to support the production of electromechanical systems,” said Michael Deshaies, CEO of EPI.

“Working with EPI will mark a leap forward in the development and manufacturing of this advanced aviation technology,” said General Atomics-Systems Integration Vice President Scott Sappenfield. “We expect to offer safe, affordable, high-performance solutions to replace legacy systems in military and commercial aircraft.”

This project is enabled by the Tawazun Council (Tawazun Economic Program). A key milestone in the project will be the certification of EPI’s facility as a Part 145 repair centre. This will involve the production airworthiness certification process and the test and evaluation of prototype units, ensuring compliance with the highest industry standards.

A VISIT WITH SPYDERCO AT SHOT SHOW 2025 REVEALD SOME INTERESTING NEW KNIVES

I’m excited to share my experience visiting Spyderco at SHOT Show 2025! It was a blast checking out all their new knives and catching up with the Spyderco crew.

First off, I have to say that the Spyderco booth was buzzing with excitement. There were tons of people checking out the new releases, and everyone was super stoked to see what Spyderco had come up with. I was especially impressed by the buzz around the new Para 3 Salt. It’s awesome to see Spyderco expanding their Salt Series with such an iconic model. The yellow and black G-10 handles look amazing, and the Magnacut steel is perfect for anyone who spends time around water. I can already tell that this knife is going to be a hit with fishermen, divers, and anyone who needs a reliable knife for harsh environments.

Another knife that caught my eye was the Native 5 Lightweight in CPM-15V. I’m a big fan of the Native 5 platform, and I love seeing it in different steels and handle materials. The CPM-15V steel is super tough and wear-resistant, and the lightweight FRN handles make this knife a perfect everyday carry option. I’m definitely going to have to add this one to my collection.

I also got a chance to check out the new Edgerati. This knife has a really unique design, with its skeletonized aluminum handles and sleek profile. It’s definitely a looker, and it feels great in the hand. I’m curious to see how this knife performs in real-world use.

Of course, no visit to the Spyderco booth would be complete without talking to the Spyderco team. They’re always so passionate about their products, and they’re always happy to answer questions and talk about knives. I had a great conversation with some very knowledgeable folks about the new models, and I learned a lot about the design process and the different materials that Spyderco uses.

Overall, my visit to the Spyderco booth at SHOT Show 2025 was a fantastic experience. Spyderco continues to innovate and push the boundaries of knife design, and I’m always impressed by the quality and craftsmanship of their products. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next!

NSSF Praises U.S. Sen. Steve Daines’ Protecting Hunters and Anglers Act Introduction

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, praises U.S. Sen. Steve Daines’ (R-Mont.) introduction of S. 537, the Protecting Access for Hunters and Anglers Act, which would prohibit the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS), Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and U.S. Forest Service (USFS) from banning the use of traditional lead ammunition and tackle absent approval by the applicable state fish and wildlife department and proof that lead ammunition and tackle is primarily causing a wildlife population decline.

The legislation has 29 co-sponsors.

“This legislation is tremendously important to protect the primary funding for wildlife conservation in America,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “Firearm and ammunition manufacturers have paid over $29 billion, when adjusted for inflation, since 1937 and that has been the leading funding source of wildlife and habitat conservation in America. Efforts by bureaucrats to limit or eliminate the use of traditional lead ammunition and fishing tackle without scientific evidence puts those conservation funds at serious risk by increasing costs and creating barriers to participation in outdoor recreation.”

NSSF denounced the USFWS Final Rule it published in 2023 that offered sportsmen and women a “bait-and-switch” deal to open hunting and fishing opportunities on eight National Wildlife Refuges (NWRs), but banned the use of traditional lead ammunition and fishing tackle. The Final Rule offered no scientific evidence of detrimental population impacts to support banning the use of traditional ammunition, despite promises by the Biden administration to “follow the science.”

Firearm and ammunition manufacturers pay a 10 and 11 percent excise tax to the Wildlife Restoration Trust Fund, commonly referred to as the “Pittman-Robertson excise tax.” The firearm and ammunition industry was directly responsible for $886.5 million Pittman-Robertson taxes of the $1.3 billion apportioned to the states through the USFWS for state conservation and education programs in 2024 alone. Since 1937, the firearm and ammunition industry has paid over $29 billion into the fund since its inception in 1937, when adjusted for inflation.

Similar legislation was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives by U.S. Rep. Rob Wittman (R-Va.) as H.R. 556, under the same title.

Court Blocks Maine’s 72-Hour Waiting Period Law in NSSF Supported Challenge

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, lauds the decision by the U.S. District Court for the District of Maine to grant a preliminary injunction of the state’s 72-hour waiting period law handed down today. The law, passed in 2024, required firearm retailers to delay delivery to a law-abiding citizen of lawfully-sold firearms for three days after an FBI National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) verification allows a transaction to proceed. The challenge to the law is supported by NSSF.

“This decision by the court is an affirmation that unconstitutional delays on the free exercise of rights are not in compliance with Second Amendment rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “Rights delayed are rights denied. The decision to enjoin this law while it is challenged in court ensures that law-abiding Mainers are not encumbered and deprived of their rights to keep and bear arms after they have proven they are not prohibited from legally possessing a firearm.”

The court rejected Maine Attorney General Aaron Frey’s argument that the Second Amendment does not protect the right to acquire a firearm as “interpretative jui jitsu that would make Kafka blush,” and which the “Supreme Court would view with great skepticism.”

The lawsuit against Maine’s Attorney General Frey was filed by several individuals, federally licensed firearm dealers (FFLs) and an organization that provides firearm training. One of the plaintiffs is a domestic-abuse survivor and certified firearm instructor who offers self-defense classes to victims and survivors. Maine’s 72-hour waiting period law prevents the women she assists from adequately defending themselves against abusive partners who pose a credible and imminent threat to their physical safety, as it forces them to wait three days to secure a firearm even when they have passed the NICS background check. Likewise, another plaintiff—a federally licensed firearm dealer—has been forced to delay sales to qualified individuals with time-sensitive needs, including a single woman who was being stalked and a married couple whose home was burglarized. These stories are emblematic of the countless number of individuals whose rights have been denied and whose safety has been put in jeopardy due to Maine’s 72-hour waiting period.

NSSF supported the plaintiffs who brought the challenge to the law that passed in the wake of the tragic and senseless murders in Lewiston, Maine. State lawmakers, and Maine Gov. Janet Mills, passed and enacted the law under pressure by gun control groups to “do something.” The law they crafted does little to improve public safety and only denies the Constitutional rights of those who obey the law. A commission studied the tragic murders and concluded that multi-agency failures, including by the U.S. Army Reserve and local law enforcement, were to blame for the threat posed by the murderer.

When we began building a shotgun, we knew it was a crowded market. Many companies make functional semi-automatic shotguns. It wasn’t enough to simply make another one—this one had to be a Savage. The result is Renegauge—Savage’s first semi-automatic shotgun. One look at Renegauge will show it’s different, but what makes it really unique can’t be seen from the outside. At the end of the magazine tube and below the barrel is our patented Dual Regulating Inline Valve (DRIV) gas system.

As the name suggests, the DRIV gas system regulates the gas that drives the action. As the round fires, expanding gases are vented from inside the barrel by two valves that work together to regulate the pressure needed to eject the spent shell.

The first action of the DRIV gas system will feel familiar. The valves open and use the energy created by the expanding gasses to drive the bolt rearward. This is a time-tested design for semi-autos, and one that—in many guns—creates as many problems as it solves. Low-recoil shells may lack the energy to cycle the bolt. Magnum loads may dump too much gas into a system, which is hard on the shooter and the gun.

What makes Renegauge so versatile is its dual valve design. This patented design allows both valves to relieve gas pressure simultaneously in order to cycle the action. The pressure needed to work the action enters in, but any excess pressure dumps through the front of the gas system. The result is an action that regulates energy with every shot. The DRIV gas system valves only pull enough energy to cycle the action, regardless of the load. Magnum loads and low-brass shells both cycle reliably.

When we say Renegauge is balanced, we mean more than how it feels in the hand. The timing of the DRIV gas system’s two valves allows for even more accurate spring calibration inside the action. As a result, Renegauge is both exceptionally consistent and lightning fast. Shells eject with exacting precision, with empty shells from various loads following the same path. And the reduced impact wear from magnum shells prolongs the life of the whole firearm. The DRIV gas system even features a staggered multi-port arrangement designed to prevent wad shaving.

Renegauge is truly self-regulating. There are no adjustments to make to account for increases or decreases in velocity. 3” magnums will run as consistently and reliably as 2 ¾” target loads and low recoil shells. While the DRIV gas system is at the heart of what makes Renegauge work, there’s more—much more—that makes Renegauge worthy of the Savage name.

The CSR 338 is built for superior long-range performance, exceeding NATO and U.S. testing protocols for light arms and shoulder-fired weapon systems. Its precision-engineered 27” 32CrMov barrel with a 1:10” twist ensures extreme accuracy over extended round counts, delivering 1/2 MOA accuracy with factory match-grade ammunition.

The rifle’s lightweight yet durable design is centered around a machined 7075 T-6 aluminum chassis with an enlarged trigger guard, an integrated 32CrMov feeding ring, and a precision-machined 4340 steel receiver. A proprietary bolt design with three locking lugs, 60-degree rotation, dual ejectors, and a tool-steel extractor ensures smooth cycling and reliability.

Equipped with an adjustable folding stock, the CSR 338 allows seamless toolless adjustments from the final firing position. The patented buttstock features an integrated monopod and bag slider for enhanced stability. The rifle also incorporates a fully adjustable two-stage trigger system, enabling users to modify the length of the first stage, trigger shoe location, and second-stage weight without disassembly.

For enhanced customization, the CSR 338 features a key-mod accessory mounting system located at the 3 and 9 o’clock positions, along with MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rails on the receiver and handguard at the 6 and 12 o’clock positions. The ambidextrous magazine release and reversible safety selector provide ergonomic familiarity for modern rifle shooters, ensuring intuitive handling in high-pressure scenarios.
