GA-ASI’S MQ-1C GRAY EAGLE^® ER FEATURED AT U.S. ARMY’S PC-C5

SAN DIEGO – 01 May 2025 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) supported the U.S. Army’s Project Convergence Capstone 5 (PC-C5), which ran throughout March and featured an MQ-1C Gray Eagle^® Extended Range (GE-ER) Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS). The GE-ER was equipped with commercially available next-generation long-range sensors that were operated by Army Soldiers throughout the event. The GA-ASI-produced UAS flew unimpeded by the employed electronic threats and generated targets of interest at Multi-Domain Operations (MDO)-relevant ranges for the 82nd Airborne Division and participating units. The exercise was based out of Fort Irwin, California, and surrounding ranges.

The GE-ER was configured with modernized Communications Intelligence (COMINT), Electronic Intelligence (ELINT), Synthetic Aperture Radar/Moving Target Indicator (SAR/MTI), and Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) radios, highlighting the GE-ER’s CMOSS (C5ISR Modular Open Suite of Standards) open architecture. The GE-ER was operated at an altitude and range that negated kinetic threats and utilized the long-range sensors to effectively detect, identify, and target threat emitters and vehicles.

In addition, U.S. Army Soldiers demonstrated Gray Eagle’s laptop-based Expeditionary Ground Control System, which significantly reduces the footprint of both personnel and materials. It also enables Soldiers to fly missions from tents, buildings, or mobile shelters as the mission and threat dictate and allows commanders to rapidly relocate or deploy to remote sites without significant infrastructure or strategic air limitations.

The multi-mission, multi-sensor configuration of the GE-ER performed persistent Detect, Identify, Locate, Report (DILR) missions while performing mesh network aerial tier support to maneuver units, connecting the Soldiers and launched effects that might otherwise be obstructed by terrain or be out of range. This demonstrated GE-ER’s ability to transform in contact, fight, and survive against advanced threats and provide easy-to-use human-machine interfaces. The MQ-1C employed ELINT, COMINT, SAR, and Aerial Tier Network Expansion (ATNE) capabilities to support the Combined Joint Task Force (CJTF) to sense, track, identify, and target enemy positions.

“The Gray Eagle is a true workhorse,” said GA-ASI President David R. Alexander. “We were able to rapidly integrate third-party systems, develop Soldier-focused interfaces, and disseminate relevant data to support MDO requirements for long-range deep sensing and ATNE. GE-ER’s long-range sensors enabled it to execute missions outside of the threat range, proving survivability against advanced threats.”

PC-C5 is the U.S. Army’s premier modernization experiment. It brought together joint and multinational partners in a series of complex and realistic scenarios designed to push the boundaries of future warfare capabilities.

SAN DIEGO – 01 May 2025 – The CCA program represents a groundbreaking new era in combat aviation, and we remain on schedule to test and fly YFQ-42 in the coming months. Over the past three decades, GA-ASI has pioneered more than two dozen different unmanned aircraft types for the U.S. and its allies, including multiple unmanned combat jets flying today, and logged nearly 9 million total flight hours. Our work on YFQ-42 will further expand the field of unmanned aviation, and we remain excited for the future.

We congratulate the Beale AFB community on its selection to support this new era of air dominance, and we look forward to partnering with you as the program progresses. GA-ASI DELIVERS MQ-9A BLOCK 5 EXTENDED RANGE UAS TO USMC

New UAS Delivered to VMX-1

SAN DIEGO – 29 April 2025 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) delivered an MQ-9A Reaper^® Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) to the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC). The new MQ-9A Block 5 Extended Range (ER) UAS was delivered on April 22, 2025, and will be operated by Marine Operational Test and Evaluation Squadron 1 (VMX-1), a USMC operational test squadron based at Marine Corps Air Station, Yuma, Arizona.

The new MQ-9A UAS will be used by the USMC to perform operational tests and evaluations, as well as create Marine Aviation tactics, techniques, and procedures through experimentation as the Marines fully implement MQ-9A as a critical part of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF).

“The Marine Corps is building out its ISR capabilities with this new aircraft,” said GA-ASI President David R. Alexander. “We are excited to see what VMX-1 does in terms of operational test in preparation for pushing new capabilities into the field.”

The MQ-9A ER is designed with field-retrofittable capabilities, such as wing-borne fuel pods and reinforced landing gear, that extend the aircraft’s endurance to more than 30 hours while further increasing its operational flexibility. It provides long-endurance, persistent surveillance capabilities, with Full-Motion Video and Synthetic Aperture Radar/Moving Target Indicator/Maritime Mode Radar. An extremely reliable aircraft, MQ-9A ER is equipped with a fault-tolerant flight control system and a triple-redundant avionics system architecture. It is engineered to meet and exceed manned aircraft reliability standards.

To date, GA-ASI has delivered 18 MQ-9A UAS to USMC. The USMC awaits delivery of two additional aircraft by the end of this year.

EAGLEVILLE, PA, April 28, 2025 – Streamlight^® Inc., a leading provider of high-performance lighting and weapon light/laser sighting devices, launched the TLR-1^® HP, a high-candela version of its best-selling TLR-1^® HL weapon light, delivering an intense, far-reaching beam of 65,000 candela for illuminating targets at a distance. The versatile, high-lumen light is available in two models to fit long guns as well as handguns with Glock style and MIL-STD-1913 (Picatinny) rails, and uses easily sourced 3-volt CR123A lithium batteries.

“This enhancement to the popular TLR-1 HL gun light provides increased candela for illumination of downrange targets, enabling users, for example, to see all the way to the end of a dark alley or down a wooded path, while still delivering impressive brightness,” said Streamlight President Mike Dineen. “That makes it an essential tool for first responders, tactical and military personnel and outdoor users as they perform search operations and other maneuvers under low-light conditions. And its strobe feature offers the added benefit of being able to signal in the field or disorient targets.”

The TLR-1 HP features a white LED that is impervious to shock and a special optic that produces a concentrated beam with optimum peripheral illumination. It delivers 1,000 lumens, 65,000 candela over 510 meters and 1.75 hours of run time with two 3-volt CR123A lithium batteries inserted.

The new light can be quickly mounted to a broad range of weapons using Streamlight’s one-handed snap on and tighten interface, which keeps hands away from the muzzle. A key kit is included to securely fit the light to the broadest array of rails. A tethered battery door and latch mechanism prevent door loss while providing easy battery replacement.

Fabricated from 6000 series machined aluminum with a black anodized finish, the TLR-1 HP weighs 4.32 ounces, and measures 3.39 inches long.

With extensively live-fire tested, impact-resistant construction, the new light features an IPX7-rated design, making it waterproof to 1 meter for 30 minutes.

The long gun model of the TLR-1 HP is available in Black and has an MSRP of $367.00. The model for handguns is available in both Black and Flat Dark Earth, with MSRPs of $292.96 and $305.24, respectively. Each model comes with Streamlight’s Limited Lifetime Warranty.

NSSF Praises West Virginia’s Gov. Morrisey for Signing Firearm Industry Protection Laws

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF^®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, praises West Virginia’s Gov. Patrick Morrisey for signing three bills into law that bring added protections to the firearm industry and Second Amendment rights in the Mountain State. The bills were passed with overwhelming bipartisan support by the West Virginia legislature earlier this year.

“Governor Morrisey shows through his signature on these laws that the firearm industry and Second Amendment rights are vital to West Virginians and ‘lawfare’ abuse of the courts won’t be tolerated,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “Governor Morrisey’s commitment to the lawful commerce in arms and free exercise of the rights to keep and bear arms in West Virginia is unparalleled. The tremendous bipartisan support for these laws by West Virginia lawmakers shows that freedom grows in West Virginia. The firearm industry is grateful for their example and Governor Morrisey’s leadership to sign into law these protections that will benefit their fellow citizens.”

Gov. Morrisey signed the following legislation:

· House Bill 2067, the West Virginia Firearms Liability Clarification Act, which ensures firearm companies are not unfairly held liable for the actions of those who use their products. The law provides limitations on negligent marketing claims against a seller or manufacturer of firearms or ammunition and creates a “predicate exception limitation.” The law will go into effect on July 7, 2025.

· House Bill 3342, the Firearms Industry Nondiscrimination Act, which prohibits banks that contract with the state from discriminating against a firearm entity or firearm trade association. This law is an NSSF priority and was specifically requested by Gov. Morrisey. It will go into effect on July 8, 2025.

· Senate Bill 270 prohibits the government from suspending gun rights during declared emergencies or disaster responses. The law declares the “sale and manufacture of firearms essential business during declared emergency.” This law goes into effect on July 8, 2025.

“As Governor, I will always support and defend West Virginians’ God-given constitutional rights,” said Gov. Morrisey in a press release. “The bills I signed today further enshrine West Virginia’s strong support for the Second Amendment. Thank you to the legislature for working with me to get this done.”
