Commemorating The Greatest Soldier of the Greatest Generation: Chiappa’s WW2 Commemorative M1
Dayton, OH (July 2, 2025) – Few generations receive and deserve as much recognition as those from WWII. Their fight was constantly fraught with struggles, difficulties, and loss. Because of their endurance, the arms they carried have a reverence not seen in any other generation or conflict. WWII had many iconic firearms, none as practical as the M1 Carbine.
Chiappa Firearms continues to represent and honor that great generation with the WWII Commemorative M1 Carbine, a limited release of the iconic arm chambered in .22LR and 9mm. The end of the war was received with celebration, and Chiappa’s M1 retains a commemorative embedded eagle coin in the stock, continuing the celebration. The rifle includes a commemorative stamped box and certificate of authenticity matching the limited production.
This limited release is numbered, with only 1,945 rifles manufactured, marking the year the war ended. Eighty years from the war’s end, Chiappa’s WWII Commemorative M1 Carbine stands the test of time and is an excellent addition to any collection.
An alloyed receiver and 18-inch (M1-22) or 19-inch (M1-9) steel barrel pair with a steel bolt for durability and quality. Weighing in at 5.5 lbs, this semi-auto design carries the heritage of the original M1 Carbine with every trigger pull. With an overall blued finish, adjustable rear sights with a dog-eared front post adorn the top of each rifle, providing an excellent sight picture and easy shooting. History is visible in every shot.

Ukraine has developed a new unmanned aerial system (UAS) designed to counter the growing threat of Iranian Shahed UAVs, which have been widely deployed by Russian forces. This new drone, built for quick deployment and effective interception, should assist in Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to protect its airspace.
The drone is launched from a mobile catapult, which allows rapid deployment, even by troops with minimal training in drone operations, according to NextGenDefense. The UAV has a carbon fiber shell and a fixed-wing design, and it is optimized for long-range flights at high altitudes, making it well-suited to engage the low-flying Shaheds. While specific performance details, including hit rates, have not been disclosed, the system is already being used in areas where Shaheds are most frequently detected.
Priced at approximately $5,000 per unit, the drone provides an affordable and scalable solution to the Shahed threat. Production is not state-funded; rather, it is driven by private donations and volunteer groups eager to expedite the deployment of these systems. Ukraine’s Air Command West, based in Lviv, is spearheading both the drone’s operational deployment and the training of drone pilots, mechanics, and support crews. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to bolster Ukraine’s anti-drone capabilities.
The new drone adds to Ukraine’s growing arsenal against the Shahed threat. With the success of these homegrown anti-drone systems, Ukraine is not only enhancing its own defense capabilities but also setting a new standard for rapid innovation in military technology. As drone warfare becomes an increasingly vital aspect of modern conflict, Ukraine’s efforts may offer valuable lessons on the importance of adaptability, private sector involvement, and international cooperation in countering emerging threats. The ongoing development of these systems will likely influence defense strategies globally, as nations look to bolster their airspace defenses against a new generation of UAVs.

SHOT University Issues Call for Presentations
LAS VEGAS — SHOT UniversityTM has issued a call for presentations for its educational sessions at the 2026 NSSF® SHOT Show®. SHOT University will take place January 20-23, during the 2026 NSSF SHOT Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.
SHOT University is the highly regarded offering of educational sessions that share models of success with the goal of elevating industry professionalism and success across many business types. SHOT University attracts decision-makers primarily from firearm industry retailer and shooting range businesses, with professionals from the conservation community, manufacturers, suppliers and trade media also attending.
Presentation Details
Proposed presentations must meet the one-hour per session timeframe and should include at least 15 minutes of dedicated time for questions and answers from the audience.
Presentation proposals that are interactive in nature and include handouts (such as course booklets and/or whitepapers) are strongly encouraged.
Presentation submissions are due by August 4, 2025. All submissions received after this date will not be considered.
Presenters will be notified of acceptance via email by August 11, 2025. Presentations selected are at the sole discretion of the NSSF.
