Interesting Sighting In Gaza!

The individual depicted in this picture is affiliated with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad al-Quds Brigades operating in Gaza. The weapon he’s holding is a FN2000 assault rifle with its corresponding grenade launcher. It is a highly advance selective fire assault rifle and represents a significant departure from the ubiquitous Kalashnikov. It’s origins are believed to be Libyan weapon caches that fell into Libyan rebel control on or about October 2011.

Although it’s nothing to panic about, just yet, its recent appearance lends credibility to the concept that MPADS (man portable air-defense systems) could also be flowing from Libya to other parties in the region.

Windows 8 Or The Titanic?

I have been involved in the technology sector for a number of years. Unlike Al Gore, I did in fact help to roll out the internet at all levels of the technology spectrum. I’ve also been involved with desktop computing for too many years to count. Remember cd..? Remember peek and poke? Been there and done that. If they had try outs for Tron, I’d take it hands down. Having sufficiently blown my own horn, I’ll get to my point.

The iPhone and iPad phenomenon pales in spectacle when compared to IBM and its open architecture for the desktop PC; by factors of 10. Despite its revolutionary potential, the PC’s limiting factor was MS-DOS (Microsoft Disk Operating System), which shipped with all PCs. People didn’t take to c:\chkdsk /f/v, so, in 1983, when Microsoft came along with  Windows GUI (Graphic User Interface), it was just what the industry needed to light a fire under desktop computing’s okole. And, did it ever!

Windows progressed through Windows 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 3.1, NT 3.x, Windows 95, NT 4.0, Windows 98,  Windows 2000, Windows ME, … Windows 7 and now Windows 8. Each rendition, starting with Windows 95 required more memory, faster CPUs and more disk space to create unmanageable swap files.

Certainly, the infamous “Blue Screen of Death” is ever present; handed down to every Windows generation; however, you cannot buy a desktop computer or laptop that does not force you into a Windows environment. This is how monopolies work.

Sadly, and I honestly don’t know the reason why, the once nimble and innovative Redmond, WA giant has been unable to produce an efficient, reliable and secure operating system, and its next generation operating system, Windows 8, seems destined for the trash heap before it even gets started. It’s a state of affair that’s been noticed by Intel and others, and likely one of several reasons for Intel’s lower sales figures. In addition to its numerous architectural problems, Windows 8 will require pricier hardware if you expect to do anything with it.

Until you hear otherwise, if you are on Windows 7, stay on it. If you must move to Windows 8 make sure that you have a compelling reason to do so. If you’re in the market for a new laptop or desktop computer buy a Mac and live happily ever-after.

Colt Defense LLC Files Another Legal Protest.

Colt Defense, LLC has filed a second legal protest in what is increasingly becoming a fight to delay its M4A1 business from leaving Colt Defense.

Colt won its first protest, filed only 6 months ago, when the Army selected Remington Defense to build its M4A1s. Colt alleged a miscalculation of royalties Colt would receive. The exact reason or reasons for its second protest are unknown, but it’s looking more and more like a delay tactic to keep its M4/M4A1 business.

Colt filed its second protest October 9th after receiving the Army’s amended solicitation. It’ll be interesting to see the basis for the second protest and what the GAO will do with it.

Magpul Announces A Ship Date For Its Gen 3 PMAG…

Magpul Industries has announced its G3 PMAG, formally know as PMAG 30 AR/M4 GEN M3, 5.56×45, will begin shipping  1-Nov-2012, and will have an MSRP of $14.95. The only color available at this time is black. Windowed versions will be offered at an MSRP of $17.95 but will not be available until a later date.

When the original PMAG was announced at Shot Show 2007, who could have known the polymer magazine would survive and live on to see three generations; but, it has and with flying colors.

It’s now 2012 and PMAGs have five years of combat experience, so it was time for lessons learned to be put to work in a Gen 3 PMAG offering. Here are the improvements:

  1. Feed lip impact, spine strength, side impact, cold and hot weather impacts, and crush testing have all been improved.
  2.  New window material with superior chemical resistance and durability.
  3. The front stop on the magazine has been relocated for full compatibility with the HK 416/IAR/M27 and the SA-80.
  4.  An enhanced over-insertion stop has been added to the rear spine of the magazine.
  5.  External dimensions are slightly narrower, for greater drop-free compatibility with magazine wells on the tighter side of the tolerance range.
  6. A new, low-friction, four-way anti-tilt follower designed to improve adverse conditions functioning, especially in dust or grit environments.
  7. The magazine catch area is reinforced.
  8. The bolt catch notch has been expanded to be compatible with the FN SCAR.
  9. Improved texture on both the front and back spines.
  10. Modified side ribs to improve handling.
  11. The new floor plate design is stronger an at the same time slimmer, which makes side-by-side carry easier. It also incorporates features to increase drainage for maritime operations.

The current PMAGs will stay in production as part of the MOE line, and be known as the PMAG® 30 AR/M4 GEN M2 MOE®, 5.56×45 Magazine and the PMAG® 30 AR/M4 Window GEN M2 MOE®, 5.56×45 Magazine. Colored variants of both MOE magazines will also continue to be available.

New pricing will take place immediately. The MOE PMG will have a new MSRP of $12.95 and the MOE PMAG Window will have a new MSRP of $15.95. MOE magazines will be shipping immediately at the new price and will be packaged with dust covers and existing PMAG packaging until supplies last. Once supplies have been exhausted the PMAG will ship in new MOE packaging.

Ceradyne’s MOHAWK Combat Helmet

Ceradyne first debuted its revolutionary MOHAWK combat helmet at the 2011 AUSA Conference in Washington, D.C..  It was in prototype form at the time. At this year’s AUSA, attendees will see the production model.

MOHAWK is the product of a collaborative effort between Ceradyne Diaphorm, Threat4 and Wilcox Industries. The helmet integrates, ballistic protection, communications, hearing protection, NVG mounting and power distribution all in one package. Ceradyne describes MOHAWK as a seamless and boltless design with superior structural integrity and reduce ballistic penetration.

Although we are excited about MOHAWK, we are always cautious about all-inclusive solutions. I know, that in my time in military service, helmets came off but the headsets stayed on. Which begs the question, does this level of integration create a single point of failure?

It’s also useful for our Industry Partners giving them a chance to put their product in front of a global community. Blog visitors are highly focused, what I refer to as “a la carte” readers, and they’re more likely to act on a product review than  legacy print readers.

Snapshot Of Asian Military Spending

Five Asian countries account for $224 billion in military spending, which is nearly 100% of defense spending in the Asia-Pacific region. The analysis excludes Indonesia who plans to spend 66.4 Trillion Rp ($6.9B), an increase of 7.5 Billion Indonesian rupiah ($782,475) over prior years, on defense. China accounts for slightly more than 40% of the regional spending.

Both industry and defense analysts look at the CAGR or Compounded Annual Growth Rate. China’s investment in its military, over the measured 11 year period has been at an at a CAGR of 13.4%. Roughly 10% per year more than the remaining 4 countries who collectively have averaged 3.425% CAGR.

This is where the story becomes interesting, as we look at per-soldier spending among the 5 countries covered. Per-soldier spending includes training, sustainment and compensation. Excluding Japan, all other countries (China, India, South Korea and Taiwan) spend, on average, no more than $35,000 USD per-soldier compared with Japan’s $240,000 (2011). This is an good indicator of  defense priorities; suggesting the lion’s share of China’s defense budget are investments is strategic capabilities.

IWI Announces 5.45mm Conversion Kit For X95 Rifle

Israeli Weapon Industries (IWI) has just announced its 5.45 mm conversion kit for the X95 rifle. This comes as good news to many of the Eastern European countries still awash in 5.45 ammunition from the Soviet Era. The addition of the new conversion kit makes the X95 assault rifle the most versatile weapon platform on the market – supporting 5.45, 5.56 and 9 mm calibers. The X95 is ideal for CQC/CQB, security and urban settings; unlike many of its competitors, the X95’s bullpup design does not sacrifice barrel length hence accuracy and lethality.

Senator Arlen Specter Dies At 82

I was sadden to hear of Arlen Specter’s passing today. He died at age 82, at his home, in Pennsylvania, from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

I admired him as a man, and as an elected official. He served the United States of America and the people of the State of Pennsylvania diligently and with honor for nearly 30 years. Senator Specter never backed down from a fight and he was a key figure in many divisive battles. Today, the world has lost a kind man and a great leader. His passing is most certainly a loss to us all; as it is to his family.

We extended our heartfelt and deepest condolences to his family, and to his friends and colleagues, of many years, in the U.S. Senate. May you rest in peace Arlen!

RIA Novosti Discloses Ukranian Combat Dolphin Program

This past Thursday RIA Novosti reported that the Ukrainian navy has restarted training combat dolphins. The highly intelligent marine mammals will undergo counter-combat swimmer and mine detection training, according to an undisclosed military source in the Ukrainian naval port of Sevastopol. The unnamed source explains:

“Ten dolphins are now being trained for special tasks in the Ukrainian state oceanarium, and the Ukrainian military are regularly training the animals for detecting things on the seabed…”

“We are now planning training exercises for counter-combat swimmer tasks in order to defend ships in port and on raids,”

Commenting on several trial runs, the Ukranian military sources goes on to say:

“The mission was successfully carried out. Our dolphins found the items and attached devices to them which were fixed on their heads, after which a buoy on it was sent to the surface to mark it,”

Other than San Diego NSC the Ukrainian dolphin base is one of two in the world.

EADS-BAE Merger Falls Apart.

A history making merger that could have created an aerospace giant on par with Boeing has collapsed amidst bickering and finger pointing between the U.K., France and Germany.

Although there were investor concerns about maximization of shareholder value, the inclination is to suggest the German government had concerns about job losses and plant closures in Bavaria, where elections are due next year.

Investors are not happy and we may see a change in management at the highest levels.

EADS – BAE Merger Still Alive!

A German news agency, citing sources close to the merger negotiations, has alleged that further talks would not move forward. Opposition by member nations being one principal reason(s).

EADS has categorically denied the report and is moving forward with the £28 billion ($45 B) deal, which when consummated would create and aerospace giant on par with Boeing.

We cannot confirm the accuracy of both assertions; however, both companies must declare their intentions to proceed by tomorrow, as set by the UK Takeover Panel.

How The Economy Got Here…

The EconomyThis will be my last piece under the Election Year BS topic. I felt it was important and it has received little attention in the media who chooses to focus on Romney’s 47% and Obama’s redistribution of wealth.

The economy, moves in cycles. It is an almost rhythmic movement that some say is predictable. It has its ups and it downs; we know this to be historically correct. The sharp downturn of 2008 was triggered by a downward movement in the business cycle but its severity is attributable to much more complex factors.

You’ve all heard the term leverage used but do you understand it? Leverage refers to borrowing. For example, if you have $200,000 and you buy a house for $200,000, you have no debt and a $200,000 asset. In a normal market, you can expect your home to appreciate at an annual compounded rate of 6% per year – that will vary market to market. After the first year in your new home, you can reasonably expect it to have a fair market value of $212,000. Your asset appreciated by $12,000.

Now lets take a look at what leverage does. You have $200,000 but you decide to purchase a $600,000 home. You put down your $200,000 and borrow $400,000 to purchase an asset worth $600,000. At the end of your first year, your asset is worth $636,000. Your asset appreciated by $36,000 in the first year. As long as your job remains secure with a reliable income stream, leveraging allows you to amplify your earnings. However, leveraging also has an amplifying effect in a downward direction when the economy takes a downturn.

So why is it that we’ve had such a terrible time coming out of this recession. To understand that, we need to go back in time.

So, let’s go back to the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, which is when the real estate market started heating up; by heating up I mean excess demand with a lagging supply that resulted in what’s been called the housing bubble. When we refer to the housing bubble we mean that the housing market was dysfunctional; resulting in housing prices rising at a much higher rate than a normal market appreciation of 6% per annum. Why do bubbles occur?

Bubbles occur when demand increases sharply aggressively leading supply. You’ve heard of a stock market bubble. Quite often stock prices rise simply because there are vast sums of cash sitting idle that needs to be invested. When that money jumps into the market, stock prices rise for no other reason than the demand for stock exceeds the supply. It has no bearing on the economic health or viability of the market. It’s simply money jumping into the market. Some see it as an indicator that investors are optimistic about the markets but that is not the complete picture.

So, where did this demand for housing come from? The short answer is mortgage lenders made up of private investment firms, and retail and commercial banks.

Every time a lender writes a mortgage, they add to the asset side of their balance sheet. When the asset side of the balance sheet increases, the earnings potential for that institution also increases and, in the absence of proper financial disclosure, the markets reward the increased earning potential by bidding the institution’s share prices higher.

Lenders generally do not keep mortgages on the books for the life of the mortgage. They bundle them and sell the bundle on the secondary  markets. The secondary market, which in many cases are firms owned by the lenders, leverage the purchases. That is they borrowed money so they can purchase more and larger bundles; many times, the borrowing is facilitated by the institutions that own them. You can begin to see a spiraling effect. The more banks lend the higher the stock price, the more and larger bundles the secondary market buys and the more the secondary markets leverage, etc. A large percentage of the bundles are sold to Fanny and Freddy as well as international investors. It became in every sense of the word a feeding frenzy!

I was at a Starbuck’s a number of years ago and inadvertently sat through a sales pitch to a young couple from a realtor. What the realtor was attempting to do, was to have the couple make an offer on a higher priced home. The essence of the sales pitch was this. I can get you together with a mortgage broker that can structure your loan so that in the first 18 months you’d be paying what you can afford. After 18 months, your income will rise and you can afford the higher mortgage payments; besides, even if you can’t afford the mortgage payments you can sell your house on the market and make 30K. Unbelievable!

What is more astonishing, is that lenders were knowingly booking high risk loans without disclosing the higher risk on their financial statements. The result was that their stock prices kept going up and up. To give you an example of just how bad things got, lenders were running ads in local markets offering loans of up to 125% of the appraised property value.

Lenders were adding huge amounts of risk to their loan portfolios, which was subsequently bought by investment banks in the secondary markets and Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac. Regrettably, no one had the integrity to disclose, on their financial statements, they were taking on large amounts of risks. Disclosure, by the way, is required under G.A.A.P. (Generally Accepted Accounting Principals) and under various regulations by the S.E.C. (Securities and Exchange Commission) for publically traded companies. Not only was there no disclosure by lenders, there was no disclosure by the firms comprising the secondary markets.

This unrestrained bonanza in lending created the housing bubble. It was common place to see homes appreciating in value by 20% per year or more, which sparked residential housing speculation making matters even worse. Individuals were taking the equity out of their homes to buy second homes, cars, add a room, vacations you name it. The economic growth that we saw, and politicians like taking credit for, was fueled by the housing bubble, which by any measure was unsustainable.

Suddenly, a downturn in the business cycle kicked in and folks began to get laid off. Unable to meet the mortgage payment, the entire house of cards collapses. Investors discover that housing prices are now half of what they used to be and loans are going bad, developers are going bankrupt and financial firms have inadequate reserves ( we call this liquidity) to weather the storm – a storm created by them, I might add.

When liquidity dried up, the government had to step in to keep banks from collapsing. So as much as I hate to say this, bailouts were indeed necessary. With lending at a halt, consumer spending declined, businesses were unable to finance  plant and equipment and the economy came to a grinding halt.

To provide you with some dimension of the severity of the problem, in 2008-2009 there was a total of $30 trillion dollars of uncollateralized debt floating about. Much of this was loans to Wall Street firms, hedge funds and speculators who leveraged their way to huge profits virtually undetected and therefore unregulated.

Going into this election and the Presidential debates, the question you need to ask of yourself, and your elected officials is, why has the economy been unresponsive to all the stimulus. I’ll give you what I think the correct answers are.

  1. Banks are still not lending to consumers and small businesses. They would rather lend to the investment banks they own or have interest in and to global corporations who are now borrowing at historically low interest rates.
  2. The United States has lost control of its manufacturing base. We no longer have a steel industry, we no longer have a garment industry, we no longer have a consumer electronics industry. Because virtually everything we come in contact with is made in China, India or Indonesia, the benefits of domestic stimulus programs don’t remain in the U.S. Instead, they flow, at an increasing rate, to China, India and Indonesia. If we fail to gain control of our manufacturing, China will be able to exercise monopoly pricing power on manufactured goods, in the near future. This means that what used to be inexpensive Chinese parts and sub-assemblies will become expensive. We are beginning to see signs of that in the garment industry.
  3. There is still a very large amount of risk in our financial sector. There is an urgent need to break up the banks. If you think we’re out of the woods you’re dreaming and another major collapse could be the one that does us in. We need to do everything possible to make banking a competitive industry. What we have today is an oligopoly with price fixing along the lines of fees that bare no relationship to business risk. It is out of hand!
  4. Leveraged speculation, especially in oil, fuels and other commodities remains high.
  5. We need to have fiscal policy that rewards investing in business creation so that investing in new business provides an after tax return superior to competing alternatives.

Fog Horn sees what’s going on in Syria as a missed opportunity for U.S. interests in the region; doing nothing has a sizable opportunity cost. Something to think about!

The Philadelphia Inquirer ran a story about one of our industry partners, Princeton Tec. We at FOG HORN are intimately familiar with their tactical line of personal lighting and we recommend it highly when the opportunity presents itself.

DRD Tactical™ Paratus

When we initially discovered plans by US Palm to design and deliver a brake-down AK47, we advised our readers that more was on the way. The need for compact, low or no signature platforms has been broadly ignored. You can expect that condition to change.

The Paratus was developed for the Clandestine Break-Down Rifle (CSR) request listed on an open announcement by Joint & Special Operations Program (JSOP).

The requirements as articulated by the CTTSO; under the authority of Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations/Low-Intensity Conflict and Interdependent Capabilities (ASD (SO/LIC&IC))

“The CSR shall be bolt-action or semi-automatic and magazine fed using five and ten round magazines,” the announcement reads. “The CSR barrel shall not exceed an overall length of 14.5 inches. The muzzle brake or suppressor is in addition to this 14.5-inch limit. The barrel shall have standard quick-disconnect or threaded connections for receiving suppressors. If a threaded suppressor is offered, the system shall include a thread guard. The barrel shall be removable and installable by the operator in the field. If tools are needed for installation they shall be simple and provided with the system. After each instance of barrel installation, the rifle shall be accurate to 1 minute-of-angle (MOA) or better. The CSR shall have a lightweight, folding stock and a MIL-STD-1913 rail system at the 3, 6, 9, and 12 o’clock positions of the rifle. The 12 o’clock (top) rail shall have a 15 or 20 MOA bias and be long enough to accommodate a standard day optical sight up to 12 inches and night optics: PVS26, PVS27, and UNS-T-LR. The rails at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock shall be movable and removable based on operator preference. The CSR shall be developed and delivered as an optimized weapon system inclusive of a commercial/government-off-the-shelf 12” or less variable power day optic, bipod system, suppressor, and magazines. Developmental variable power day optics, bipod systems, suppressors, and magazines will be considered but must be justified based on improved performance or weight reduction.”

The good news is that agencies and specialized units can expect to see more of this development work in the months ahead. In fact, my sources seem to think that two additional offerings are in the works from competing companies.

Ronnie Barrett’s Open Letter to the Public

Dear Fellow Citizens,

In the never-ending battle to destroy our constitution, more “big lie” propaganda is being dumped on our elected officials. The rhetoric given forth by the Violence Policy Center (VPC) so easily deceived the legislators of California, resulting in the banning of fifty caliber rifles because they are powerful and their bullets punch holes when they strike. Even single shot .50 cal rifles were banned. It’s hard to believe we live in such a dark time that someone has actually banned a single shot rifle. But as you will see, this is the cleverest of all gun bans, and the end goal is civilian disarmament, the confiscation of your tools of liberty, your rifles.

What lies before us is the continuation of the misinformation campaign, trying to coax yet another state to infringe upon the U.S. Constitution as California did. The anti-freedom/anti-gun movement has discovered how transparent they appear when they propose sweeping gun bans and now are successful by biting off a little at a time. Ever so small, many politicians are trading off your rights without you recognizing their violations.

First we had the “Saturday Night Special” which was all affordable handguns, then “sniper rifles” which were any scoped deer rifles. Those were obvious, too big a scam to go unnoticed, but with the creation and demonization of the term “assault weapon,” the Clinton’s Crime bill produced a wasted 10-year setback on your freedoms and safe gun design. Now comes another scam. This time they are shocked to discover that rifles are “accurate and powerful.”

This is the same bull the officials in the 1950’s fell for when they banned the self-unfolding knife. First the knife was demonized by giving it an evil name, “switchblade,” then we (the trusting public) were told that the problem of gang violence was solved with its banning. How ridiculous. It’s surprising they didn’t ban the leather jacket. In reality, gang violence was and is a serious social problem, but it was not related to manually unfolding verses self-unfolding knives. The elected officials voting to ban an object like a knife proved themselves unwilling or uncaring to understand the problem, and thus, incapable of any real solutions.

The handful of people that make up the VPC are solely responsible for the big lie on .50’s, claiming fantastic destruction capabilities. They manipulate fear by claiming terrorists will use these rifles on targets of our infrastructure. “They will shut down our airports in flames” they claim. VPC’s Tom Diaz refers to them as “super guns” lying to his dupable group of politicians, concealing the facts that there are many rifle cartridges that are comparable in performance (those will be added to the list in phase two). He is boldly telling these officials (and all who will listen) that the risk of terrorist attacks on these targets will be solved with the banning of powerful rifles, in this case, the .50 caliber rifle. In reality, terrorism is complex and will be defeated with improved intelligence. In this instance, the officials voting to ban an inanimate object like a rifle prove themselves to be ignorant of the problem of terrorism and are wasting time and resources.

You must understand the brilliance of this dangerous back door deception. Your politicians are being told that the fifty is a highly destructive cartridge that can destroy airplanes, fuel transport trucks and depot storages of fuel. They show videos like the one on 60 Minutes showing a 1/2 inch plate of steel being pierced by a .50 cal round while stopping a .308 caliber. This is all to confuse the people, those with little exposure to firearms; their impression concludes that the .50 punches holes in sensitive targets where other rifles cannot. Had they shot actual aluminum that is used on airplane construction, or aluminum or steel used in actual transport or tank construction, both the .50 and the .308 will pierce along with most all centerfire cartridges. But this, they must keep secret.

First, with the confusion of massive, (although incorrect) technical data and the hammering of urgency, the VPC demands a ban or strict regulations on rifles that chamber a cartridge that has the ability to penetrate targets. Sound ridiculous? It is.
VPC’s Tom Diaz appears often on TV with maps of Washington, DC, irresponsibly instructing where to position one’s self to illegally fire on vulnerable important targets of our government, promising these specific targets will be safe when .50’s are banned. He pressures politicians to act quickly on this URGENT legislation needed to make these terrorist targets safe, hoping they will act before the VPC lies are discovered.

Now slow down. A ban on a rifle because the cartridge it shoots penetrates targets? By the legislation naming and defining the targets that are damageable by rifle fire, and in this case, .50 cal. rifle fire, they create a new class of rifles. This new class is not defined by such foolishness as detachable magazines, flash hiders, or pistol grips. Instead, the test is; does it fire a bullet that punches a hole, and can the hole result in damage to specified and named targets? If so, the law-abiding citizen shouldn’t be allowed to have this, so they must ban this class of rifle before they can be misused. This is the very thing California has just passed!

“Now, we are only talking about those powerful .50 cals, right? It’s such a small class, no one will mind or even notice.” That’s what the VPC’s lies have lead you to believe. No, remember they are banning rifles because specific targets named in our infrastructure are susceptible to damage. Now tell me, what centerfire rifle cartridge won’t punch holes in those targets? What centerfire rifle cartridge is not powerful? Not many or not any? So, in order to comply with the spirit and intent of the law, the Attorney General or State Secretary must add those cartridges to the banned list. The big lie is exposed. They aren’t just talking about .50’s. They’re after your hunting rifles, centerfire target rifles-just about any rifle you own.

Unlike California, we cannot allow any of our local, state, or federal officials to be deceived with any of this “big lie” gun control propaganda. The U.S. has every gun law that could possibly be needed. Virtually every real world scenario of firearm abuse is already covered in some law that is currently on the books.

Many of you have inquired as to the outcome of the letter I wrote to Police Chief Bratten of the LAPD. Unfortunately, the chief’s position did not change. He continued to use his officers in the same deceptive practices formerly utilized with the city council. These few officers testifying in Sacramento ultimately contributed to the unconstitutional AB50 law being passed. It saddened me to have to tell members of the LAPD SWAT team that they would have to send someone for their rifle, because I refused to assist anyone or any organization that is in violation of the United States Constitution. In turn, the department arranged to pick up their un-serviced rifle.

Barrett cannot legally sell any of its products to lawbreakers. Therefore, since California’s passing of AB50, the state is not in compliance with the US Constitution’s 2nd and 14th Amendments, and we will not sell nor service any of our products to any government agency of the State of California.

I appreciate all the phone calls and e-mails from LAPD officers and civilians during that time, encouraging and supporting our actions. We shall see if other firearms companies will follow this path. I know many are corporately owned and feel like they are unable to risk the life of their company for the liberties of our nation, but if we lose our Republic, our freedom, what good is any of it? I am in the proud and fortunate position that many of our forefathers were in when they risked all for our liberties.

This “ban large bore” insanity failed in Washington years ago, but that didn’t discourage the VPC. Now it’s resurfacing in city council meetings, in individual states, and it’s being reintroduced in Washington. NRA-ILA Executive Director, Chris Cox, once told me “These (anti-freedom, anti-gun) guys never go away, and they never quit.”

I’ve received thousands of e-mails and letters from you offering encouragement and support. Our Republic, our liberty, needs and demands your support. You must take action to guard your rights. First, find your State Senator and State Representative. Tell them not to fall for this scam. This lie depends on the elected official being naive about firearms and their capabilities. Stand ready to carry this same message to your U.S. Senator and Representatives. Know all of your elected officials’ positions on gun issues. DO NOT ELECT ANY ANTI-GUN PERSON TO ANY POSITION!

Position yourself with me in the battles that we must fight. You need to join the NRA, the Fifty Caliber Shooters’ Association, and the NSSF in order to stay informed. These people have been with me in the trenches, fighting for every inch of the liberty you enjoy.

Today we draw a line; there will be no more nibbling at our freedom. Today you stand idle no longer. Today you do something to save our country!

The NavELite Compass Android App Now Available for Download

NavELite, has unveiled a new NavELite Compass Android application available to Android devices version 2.2 and up. The NavELite Compass app provides basic compass functionality using the Android device’s magnetometer. There are two lighting modes showing a daylight (white) face and needle of the compass and an “illuminated” (blue-green) face and needle that simulates the electroluminescent technology. The magnetic heading is displayed and the compass dial can be rotated to orient the Android device to the direction of travel. Crimson Trace Goes Green…

Crimson Trace Corporation has expanded its laser aiming product line with the recent introduction of CMR-203 Rail Master™ Universal Green Laser Sight  and Laserguard® Green Laser. The Laserguard® will be available for a variety of platforms as follows; LG-451 for 1911 full-sized pistols, LG-452 for full size and compact Glock, LG-453 for the Springfield Armory XD and XD(M).
