SILNCERCO INTRODUCED A NEW HIGH TEMPERATURE SUPPRESSOR COVER

Suppressor-Pouch-EDIT_grande

Shooters have a variety of reasons for using suppressor covers, mine is mirage mitigation; especially with higher magnification optics. Having  a hot suppressor radiating heat in front of your glass is undesirable. SilencerCo’s  high temperature covers are designed to hold up against a  firing schedule of up to three magazines of semi-automatic fire with a reasonable break between each magazine of at least a minute. This is a great addition for your DMR or SPR rifle as well as your precision rifle. The high temperature models come in two lengths at an M.S.R.P. of $99.99 and you can pick one up here.

BREXIT ( Sorry We Are Late But Last Week We Were Swamped)

There’s been an amazing amount of noise over the United Kingdom’s referendum to leave the EU. We saw a huge drop in the global markets most of which were overvalued to begin with. The source of all that noise was primarily  pundits who wanted to throw up enough smoke to allow them to make an undetected shift in positions regarding BREXIT. Remember that the key to being a pundit is to create the illusion that you can predict accurately. So this week’s shoot-the-shit presents our ideas on BREXIT; however, to do that we need to talk in broad terms about the EU concept. To make that easier  we created what we’ll call an executive cartoon, shown below.

THE EU MODEL

After World War II, European Countries, through three treaties of Rome (1957 – 1958), created three common communities: European Atomic Energy Community (EURATOM), European Coal and Steel Community (EUCASC) and the European Economic Community (EUEC). Then in July of 1987 the 12 members of the EUEC executed an agreement the Single European Act, this event was the seed from which the EU flowered. So, we can look at the EU as a Co-op between sovereign countries for the mutual benefit of all countries.

The EU has been evolving since 1987 and today has 28 members. What is so appealing about the EU is the concept of eliminating borders, allowing the free movement of labor and other factors of production and eliminating foreign currency translations through a common currency. The net result is what we’ll call the Economist’s Nirvana. It’s what all professors dream about. Academics eat the stuff up. However, it’s imperative that you keep in mind that academia is great at concepts but exceedingly poor at implementation. Their thought process is let’s just do it and things will work themselves out. Well, things haven’t worked themselves out; just ask Spain how they feel about the wave of Romanian criminal enterprise.

So, here’s the reason why we think the EU will not be a lasting arrangement.

The picture above shows a number of large buckets the actual number of buckets should be 28, one for each member, but you can kiss my ass if you think I’m going to sit here and draw 28 buckets. The blue coloring represents water and you’ll note that not all buckets have the same amount of water. The water represents the gross domestic product of the member countries. The circle with the X represents the Council of the EU, in Brussels, which we have designated as the “Council of Illuminati”. Opening the valve starts the flow of water, which will eventually seek its own level; initially benefitting those with less water. Once equalized, all buckets should benefit equally as the EU prospers then things will be great. The social agenda behind the EU is the creation of a homogenous people void of national identity and the atrophy of local governments who cede decision making to the Council of Illuminati, thus undermining self-determination in the member nations.

Next, imagine if we could set up the same thing in the Western Hemisphere and Asia Pacific (both of which have already started.) We could find ourselves with a total of three Councils of Illuminati all of whom are comprised of appointed officials. But wait,  how do you get the 3 different councils to work together? Easy, you create a “Council of Illuminati Cum Laud.”

Folks there are all kinds of reasons why the 28 buckets have different amounts of water. Those countries who limit regulations, have educated labor, abundant natural resources, moderate weather, stable governments, access to capital and posses an industrious national character will always have more water in their buckets. However, under the EU model, they are expected to carry the load for those members lacking equal qualities; Greece is the glowing example of that.

The United Kingdom simply said “enough is enough.” We’re very concerned with comments coming out of the EU’s Council of Illuminati suggesting sanctions against the UK for leaving the organization. A colossally stupid thing to say and reminds us of Mel Brook’s Blazing Saddles where the sheriff puts a gun to his head and says to the angry crowd “don’t move or I’ll shoot  the(redacted)”

McMillan Group Launches Grayboe Stocks

image

Phoenix, AZJune 22, 2016 – Ryan McMillan and the McMillan Group, worldwide leader in firearms industry innovation, announces the launch of Grayboe Stocks in association with the McMillan Group of companies. Utilizing new materials and processes, Grayboe continues the legacy of industry leadership that the McMillan Group has pioneered for more than 40 years while advancing stock technology throughout the entire firearm industry.

“When running the rifle company, we saw an opportunity in the mid level price range of stocks that are available to gun builders and OEMs.” Said Grayboe CEO, Ryan McMillan. “We had conceptualized the idea of creating a high quality, high volume, and low price stock in the past, and Grayboe brings that conceptualization to reality.”

“We have worked for several years to provide the industry with an affordable off the shelf fiberglass and epoxy stock.” Said Kelly McMillan, CEO McMillan Group International. “It took Ryan’s background education and experience in the firearms industry to perfect the process and bring it to the market.”

The idea behind the creation of Grayboe began over a decade ago when McMillan Fiberglass Stocks realized the need for a more efficient and cost effective way to make high quality epoxy based stocks.

Grayboe is the culmination of two years of intense R&D, which began by building on McMillan’s earlier successes and research. Having adapted cutting edge engineering and materials from various industrial sectors, Grayboe innovations led to the development of a manufacturing process that produces rifle stocks unlike any others before. The completely new process has established a high benchmark of strength and stiffness that others will want to follow. This newly developed method of manufacturing brings together high volume and low costs to the well established Epoxy based rifle stock market. Thru these efforts, Grayboe has revolutionized the way in which thermoset stocks are produced, filling an industry void that has been left empty for decades.

Grayboe Stocks cannot be equaled in durability, accuracy, or price.

MIL SISTEMIKA AT EUROSATORY 2016

This young Slovenian company has some of the best situational awareness and COP software on the market, and they continue to make enhancements to include support for the Kestrel meters,  a variety of laser rangefinders, tagging and tracking, remote sensors and support for wave relay networks. I had an opportunity to review their Personal Eye System or PES application and walked away very much impressed. They’ve considered and support encryption, bandwidth utilization,  custom mapping for example geo referenced maps from Falcon View and an absolutely superb user interface. Morphix Technologies Becomes Virginia Values Veterans (V3) Certified

Morphix has joined an elite group of employers who have made public commitments to recruit, hire and retain qualified Veterans.

Virginia Beach, Va. (June 2016) – Morphix Technologies, an innovator in the science of detection devices for dangerous chemicals, has completed the requirements to become Virginia Values Veterans (V3) certified. With its V3 certification, Morphix has joined an elite group of employers who have made public commitments to recruit, hire and retain qualified veterans.

The V3 Program is a Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Veterans Services Program. V3 helps employers understand, design, and implement nationally recognized best practices in recruiting, hiring and retaining Veterans.

“It was an easy decision to become V3 certified. Our products detect dangerous chemicals and explosives that could harm our troops. Not only do we want to keep soldiers safe when they’re deployed, we want to provide a place where they can work, contribute and feel valued when they come home,” said Kimberly Pricenski, vice president of sales and marketing for Morphix.

Morphix makes products that keep our troops safe, like the Chameleon Chemical Detection Armband. The Chameleon armband indicates the presence of a toxic gas by a color change that alerts the wearer of danger.

In addition to the Chameleon, Morphix produces the TraceX Explosives Detection Kit. The TraceX Explosives Detection Kit is designed to help identify bombers, bomb-makers and their bomb-making facilities. It detects the most common explosive materials and their precursors at trace levels in a single test.

If you’d like to learn more about the TraceX Explosives Detection Kit or the Chameleon Chemical Detection Armband, please contact Morphix Technologies toll free at 800-808-2234 or locally at 757-431-2260. You can also emailsales@morphtec.com.

WHAT BACKGROUND CHECK?

A while back, I had the opportunity to read the FBI’s 2011-national-gang-threat-assessment-emerging-trends report and summarized some of its findings in the following post; “Law enforcement officials in 34 jurisdictions report that the majority of gang-related crime is committed with firearms.” The FBI’s 2013 National Gang Intelligence Report, which you can download here is even more disturbing.

All of which support our assertion that the most effective way to deal with gun crimes and gun violence in our country is to deal with the gang threat and gang related activities. Stricter gun laws, banning of specific weapon types and gun show loop holes will not accomplish a thing.

Unfortunately, we have a media that is clueless on gun laws and what it takes to legally purchase a firearm through the internet. So, the information getting to the public, who rely on the media’s pseudo integrity, is flawed – and, boy oh boy, there’s nothing like an uninformed electorate to get your agenda through. I guess it’s easier to look at your iPhone and report on tweets than research a story. Regrettably, our elected officials are part of that consuming public and they too lack the desire to learn something about the problem. Hence, we wind up with reams of legislation that are a vulgar display of cranial-rectal inversions, and when you line them up, side by side, it looks like the work of a schizophrenic.  SO, we sit back and wonder why problems don’t get solved. I would really love to see a show of hands on who in the U.S. Congress has read the NGIC reports!

The video below is a vivid example of how gangs and criminal come to posses firearms. This perpetrator walked into a pawnshop in Ft. Lauderdale Florida, May 2015, and attempted to walk out of the store with a rifle.

THE GREAT AR-15 GUN VIOLENCE MYTH

The table below is the FBI’s Expanded Homicide Data Table 8. It details the number of homicides year over year by weapon type and covers a period from 2009 to 2013 inclusive. You’ll notice that homicides have been on the decline in all categories through a period that includes a weak economy and increasing firearm sales. The rifle data includes homicides committed using a rifle and includes mass shootings. The AR-15 is a subset of rifle statistics. Data supplied by the NRA-ILA, indicates that production of AR-15s more than doubled from 2011 to 2012, yet we see a continued decline in rifle related homicides from 2011 to 2012. The NRA also tells us that in 2012, 825,000+  AR-15s were produced, that number is actually closer to 1.1 million AR-15s when you consider Remington’s output. Again we see a decline in rifle related homicides from 2012 to 2013.

Unless you’re remarkably stupid, or a common bold face liar, you can easily see that there’s no correlation between the availability of AR-15s and rifle related homicides; in fact, it’s an inverse relationship. Claiming otherwise is equivalent to suggesting that Conan O’Brien is a Zika virus baby!

If you’re sincere about dealing with gun violence, you need to address the $200 billion to $750 billion of drugs moving through the southern border and deal with gangs and gang related activities. You can’t solve problems by promoting agendas just so you can get invited to the next Malibu beansprout party.

Canada’s Top Court Ruled That Oral Sex with Animals Is Legal

The Supreme Court of Canada has ruled that a person must actually penetrate an animal or vice versa in order for the act to be considered bestiality.

In a judgement released Thursday, Canada’s top court ruled in agreement with a lower court that overturned a bestiality conviction.

The graphic ruling explains the case like this: A man, known in the judgment as D. L. W., tried to make his teenage stepdaughter have sex with the family dog, but that proved impossible, so he spread peanut butter on her vagina and made the dog lick it off while he photographed it. Later, he asked her to do it again, so he could make a video.

The judge presiding over the man’s first trial ruled bestiality “means touching between a person and an animal for a person’s sexual purpose,” and penetration isn’t required. He was convicted of numerous sexual offenses, including bestiality. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison.

But when the man appealed that conviction to the Court of Appeal, he won his case, and the bestiality conviction was dropped. The Crown then appealed that decision to the Supreme Court of Canada.

In today’s decision, a majority on the Supreme Court upheld the acquittal.

The ruling goes into the history of the crime of bestiality, which was once categorized as “buggery” and/or “sodomy.” But bottom line, in all cases, someone had to be penetrating the animal or vice versa.

“The term ‘bestiality’ has a well-established legal meaning and refers to sexual intercourse between a human and an animal. Penetration has always been understood to be an essential element of bestiality.” The courts, they ruled, are not in a place to “broaden” the scope of liability for the offense—that’s the parliament’s job.

“Parliament may wish to consider whether the present provisions adequately protect children and animals. But it is for parliament, not the courts to expand the scope of criminal liability for this offense.”

It points out that although sexual offenses against humans have seen many revisions over the years, the definition of bestiality has remained the same.

The dissenting judge, Justice Rosalie Abella, who thought nightmare stepdad’s appeal should be dismissed, argued it’s common sense to assume that parliament intended to protect children and animals from abuse, including that which doesn’t involve penetration.

“Parliament must have intended protection for children from witnessing or being forced to participate in any sexual activity with animals,” she wrote.

“Since penetration is physically impossible with most animals and for half the population, requiring it as an element of the offense eliminates from censure most sexually exploitative conduct with animals.”

Camille Labchuk, executive director of Animal Justice, which acted as an intervener in the appeal, told VICE the ruling shows the criminal laws for protecting animals are out of date.

“Sexually abusing animals is completely unacceptable, it is contrary to our values. Canadians care deeply about protecting animals from this type of cruelty and sexual abuse,” she said, adding that “people who abuse animals often sexually abuse children as well, as the accused did in this case.”

In February, Liberal MP Nathaniel Erskine-Smith introduced a private member’s bill to close loopholes and expand Canada’s animal protection laws.

So, in an effort to be more inclusive should we change LGBTQ to LGBTQB for “Beastie” and whose bathroom should they use? Maybe the fire hydrant!

Have a great weekend all! Be safe and enjoy some quality time with your buds and family. As always, we love to hear from you and value your opinions and participation.

CBRN A MAJOR FOCUS AT EUROSATORY 2016

Reflecting the challenges facing governments and institutions in the face of increasing threats from global jihadism they focus on the very real possibility of chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear scenarios. That interest was reflected at Eurosatory 2016 in Paris. Technologies represented include protection, detection, management, decontamination and control.

Qui est Omar Mateen, l’auteur de l’attentat d’Orlando ?

This morning’s Le Monde asks who is Omar Mateen,  I’d like to answer that question. Omar Mateen was a disenfranchised Muslim U.S. Citizen, who felt the way to self actualize was to live out the warrior fantasy through association with or himself becoming that great mujahidin. He is the perfect ISIL / AQ candidate for radicalization. This is not a new approach and for years AQ has had as part of their business plan the recruitment, read radicalization, of individuals with no prior contact with law enforcement. This makes the task of detection and preemption extraordinarily difficult, and further complicated by the faux privacy issues created through the Edward Snowden fiasco. The very same individuals that were lambasting the National Security Agency are now asking how something like this could happen.

In addition to the Galil ACE pistol, complete Galil ACE rifles are expected to start shipping by mid to late June, while the Galil ACE pistols with stabilizing braces are expected to begin shipping to distributors within the next 60 days.

The modernized Galil ACE is based upon the reliable mechanism of the original Galil assault rifle first developed by IMI in the late 1960s. Drawing inspiration from the legendary Russian AK-47 and the Finnish Valmet RK 62, the IWI Galil ACE has been continuously improved upon over the last 40+ years, resulting in today’s extremely reliable and highly accurate Galil ACE.

Improvements made since the original Galil was first developed include the charging handle (reciprocating) moved to the left side of the milled steel receiver, allowing for weak hand operation. Additional advancements include weight reduction with the use of modern polymers, AKM/AK-47 magazine compatibility, full-length two-piece Picatinny top rail and fully adjustable iron sights with Tritium front post. There is also a Picatinny tri-rail forearm with built-in, slide on/off rail covers with pressure switch access.

The GAP39-II is not available for sale in California or Massachusetts. Magazine capacity restrictions may apply in other states.

OTIS TECHNOLOGY RIPCORD IN 12 AND 20 GAUGE

P1000381

OTIS Technology introduced the Ripcord® one pass cleaning tool in August 2013, since then they’ve added support for several pistol and rifle calibers. Last January, at the 2016 SHOT SHOW, the company introduced a Ripcord® for your shotguns in 12 ga and 20 ga. The Ripcord product line was designed to provide shooters with an easy to carry and easy to use system to clean your weapon’s chamber and bore quickly  with one pass. The system works best when used soon after shooting and does not require the use of solvents or lubricants. However, should fouling call for the use of a bore brush or patch, the Ripcord will accept all OTIS cleaning components.

P1000386

Its Nomex® fiber coating and unique shape make for an aggressive 360 degree cleaning  from Breech-to-Muzzle® and the Ripcord® can be used at any angle or orientation, making cleaning a breeze. The braided Nomex® surface can take up to 700° heat, so you can clean it at the range or in the field while the barrel’s still hot. The helix-shaped rubber core maintains pressure against the barrel.

OTIS Ripcords are available at a number of brick and mortar retailers and online for $7 – $15 depending on caliber. They work and work well.

THE POLITICAL ARISTOCRACY

The 2016 election cycle has been an eye-opening experience for me and I’ve been participating in the political process since I could legally vote. In 2016 something has become very evident, the relentless and insidious defining of a Presidency by a media who sadly has a lower confidence rating than Congress. Rather than focusing on candidate positions, the who, what and why, we find ourselves listening to their microscopic analysis of tweets and tainted literal interpretations of things said. Instead of analyzing actions they analyze words as if words are all defining. There is an expectation on the media’s part of political aristocracy where every word is measured, every word is targeted and non of which become actionable commitments by their orator. This expectation of sophistication is inconsistent with the Constitution where the only burden placed on a candidate is that they be a native son or daughter, that they be elected as prescribed and that once in office they uphold the Constitution and defend it against foreign and domestic threats. By that standard a mailman, plumber or clerk can occupy the office if duly elected. No where in our Constitution is a candidate required to be an attorney or even know a word of what the Magna Carta says, or posses a commanding knowledge of world affairs. The media seems to be obsessed by historical firsts rather than vetting candidates. Through their insouciance, they promote a political aristocracy which is both dangerous and inconsistent with the Founder’s vision for America. In closing, we call your attention to the fact that historical firsts do not define courage, wisdom, integrity and leadership – the Holocaust was too a historical first.

This has been our Friday shoot-the-shit topic. We wish you an outstanding weekend with your buds and family. Be safe and keep in mind that all shoot-the-shit rules apply. Let us hear from you.

The company is a global leader and its products permeate armed forces around the world. With this kind of resume, it’s easy to sit around and enjoy your success; not the case with OTIS. IWI WILL INTRODUCE THEIR MILITARY VERSION OF THE X95 IN .300 AAC BLACKOUT AT EUROSATORY 2016

IWI X95-1

EUROSATORY 2016 kicks off 13 June in Paris. At one of the world’s most prestigious defense sector exhibit and conference, IWI will present, for the first time, the military version of the X95 assault rifle in .300 AAC Blackout caliber.

According to Uri Amit, IWI’s President and CEO, “We are currently celebrating TAVOR’s decade of successful military operation. The TAVOR became the first new generation bullpup rifle to achieve such popularity in such a short time; in only ten years it has been adopted by dozens of armies and units around the world. The TAVOR was developed in response to the evolving changes in the battlefield, which required a versatile weapon to support fighting in both Close Quarters Battle (CQB) and in open areas. Reaching the highest levels of accuracy in ranges of up to 500 meters, the TAVOR has excellent ergonomics, making it easier for the fighter to operate it on the battlefield.”

For the first time at Eurosatory, the company will present the X95 (MICRO TAVOR) assault rifle in .300 AAC Blackout caliber – making the X95 a multi-caliber platform with the ability to switch to any of 4 calibers (5.56X45mm, 9mm, 5.45X39mm, and now – 7.62×35 mm). The conversion is easily accomplished, requiring only a change of the barrel. Due to the fact that the BLK 300 and the 5.56mm ammunition have the same dimensions, they both use the same standard AR magazine. Since a wide variety of ammunition can be used for the BLK 300 caliber, the rifle can be silenced at a very high level, which is not possible with the current 5.56mm ammunition.

About TAVOR Family of Assault Rifles

IWI’s TAVOR family of Assault Rifles are versatile, innovative, and technologically advanced weapons that have been extensively proven in the battlefield, performing with precision and reliability, and meeting the needs of human ergonomics. The TAVOR family was developed in close cooperation with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), based on experiences acquired in actual combat. Complying with the most stringent NATO standards for small arms – including operation in harsh conditions – the TAVOR is in service in the IDF Infantry and Special Forces as well as in other countries throughout the world. It has a bullpup configuration, a barrel length and weapon size that cover all soldier’s fighting ranges – from 500 meters to indoor operations, fighting from vehicles, urban areas, etc.

For June, we have a review of Streamlight’s ProTac® Rail Mount 1 and Rail Mount 2 weapon lights coming your way.  These lights feature the same outstanding 10 Tap functionality in a fixed rail mount configuration to complement your modern semiautomatic rifles and carbines. Whether your running a tactical shotgun, SBR or full sized carbine, you’re going to like the 350 and 625 lumen outputs, respectively, along with their very low profile mount. Both lights ship with push-button tail caps and long gun pressure pads.  You may want to delay your lighting decision until you read our review…

FNH SMALL ARMS OF SOFIC 2016

DSC_0936

One of my favorite pistols is the FNX-45 Tactical, a tremendous improvement over the FNP Tactical. It’s low bore axis makes the pistol  very easy to control. The grip is nicely textured which when combined with the interchangeable backstarp makes for a very comfortable grip that is customizable to most hand sizes. The pistol comes with a stainless steel 5.3” threaded extended barrel that is suppressor ready. The stainless steel slide has high-profile combat night sights and includes two mounting bases to accept multiple styles of optional red-dot electronic sights. The trigger has a pretty long travel but breaks nicely with a fairly short reset.

DSC_0937

FN’s Ballista remains my one my favorite precision rifles on a very short list. The Ballista was the first precision rifle to hit the military space  with an interchangeable barrel architecture. The shooter can easily convert calibers from 338 Lapua to 300 Win Mag or .308 Winchester in under two minutes. The Ballista features a 26” stainless steel barrel with continuous polygonal rifling. Ambidextrous magazine release and an adjustable trigger are also included. A great precision rifle that is capable of sub-MOA performance.

DSC_0939

FN MK20 MOD 0 SSR (Sniper Support Rifle)

Type designated as the MK 20 SSR, the FN SCAR® Sniper Support Rifle (SSR) is a tailored design for long-range precision fire applications while also providing capability to fight close in. Based on the MK 17 SCAR® , the SSR is capable of sub-minute of angle accuracy out to and beyond 1,000 yards. The SSR features an extended receiver rail for mounting in-line night vision and thermal devices with standard/sniper optics. It features an enhanced trigger requiring no adjustments that is heavy enough for field use but precise enough for long-range target engagement. The proprietary barrel extension and barrel profile improve accuracy, and the fully-adjustable non folding stock enables the operator to optimize the rifle for firing position and body type. In October 2010, upon successful in-theater combat assessments, the FN SCAR® SSR was granted Milestone C (the acquisition phase associated with fielding/deployment).

WHY BUSINESSES ARE LEAVING THE COUNTRY…

In this week’s shoot-the-shit, we’d like to provide some clarity to why businesses are leaving the country. This will be our last topic related to the 2016 election cycle. We think it’s important because there a lot of ideas being floated that are simply acoustic noise.

Business typically works with two sets of financials, the first is their Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) financial statements; the other is their tax returns. Income as stated in the company’s financial statement is not the same as taxable income. We’re going to answer the question of why business is leaving the country by taking you through a very simple and condensed financial statement, specifically the profit and loss statement.

  1. Total Revenue…                             $1,000,000
  2. Cost of Revenue…                                600,000
  3. Gross Profit….                                  $ 400,000
  4. Selling and Administration…                150,000
  5. Income Before Taxes…                                        $ 250,000
  6. Taxes…                                                                       35,000
  7. After Tax Income…                                               $ 215,000

Let’s say that our fictitious company manufactures shoelaces and in the current year they sold one million dollars worth of shoelaces. However, to make shoelaces, the company had to incur $600,000 worth of expenses. These expenses include direct labor, which is the salary and benefits of employees used in the production of shoelaces. It also includes the supplies, machinery, rent and utilities for the factory, repair of plant equipment, insurance on the shoelace plant and any other cost directly associated with the manufacture of shoelaces.

Line item 4, Selling and Administration captures the costs associated with marketing, advertising, sales and general business management – the C.E.O. salary and benefits is included in Selling and Administration.

Line item 5, 6, and 7 are self explanatory.

Businesses leave the country to influence their highest cost component which is the Cost of Revenue

  1. Cheaper direct labor reduces cost of revenue.
  2. Cheaper cost of land and plant rents reduce cost of revenues.
  3. Government regulations  requiring that defective shoelaces be melted instead of thrown in the garbage increases cost or revenue, requiring that factory workers be paid overtime pay and receive specific levels of medical benefits will increase the cost of revenue; by leaving the country, this shoelace manufacturer gets out from under government regulations and higher cost labor, thus reducing its cost of revenues.

Reducing the cost of revenue provides a higher gross profit and a subsequent higher income before taxes. They will have a higher tax liability but that is dependent on what deductions and credits are available to the business under current tax code.

Reducing tax rates is highly desirable but it is not the principal driver for business leaving the country. In fact, if Congress reduced the business marginal tax rate to just 5%,  business would still leave the country as long as they could reduce Cost of Revenue and bring back their product tax or tariff free. Business’ objective is to reduce Cost of Revenues and if our theoretical shoelace manufacturer is a public corporation they would be rewarded by a higher stock price.

Nowhere in this process is consideration given to the intangible costs from the decision. Some of the many intangibles include…

  • sacrificing intellectual property rights.
  • quality control issues from lower cost labor.
  • social impact created by unemployment.
  • reduction of the tax base for local governments.
  • the economic impact to affected communities.

So who benefits?

  1. The new host country
  2. The stockholders

What you as a voter need to weigh is the validity of a candidate’s argument who propose to help American workers by imposing more regulations or promote strategies that add to Cost of Revenues for businesses.

Have a great weekend! We hope you had a great Memorial Day!
