Aimpoint Launches New CompM5™ Sight–DSEI 2017

Aimpoint® CompM5 with 39 mm Spacer and LRP Mount

London, England – September 12, 2017 – Aimpoint, the originator and worldwide leader in reflex sighting technology, has announced the addition of the new Aimpoint® CompM5™ sight to their professional product line. Powered by a single AAA battery, and weighing just 147 grams (5.19 ounces), the CompM5 takes its place as the most compact optic in the Aimpoint® Comp™ Series family of sights.

Originally created to meet the needs of a specific official end user, the CompM5 is now being offered for sale worldwide as contract commitments and production levels permit. The compact size of the CompM5 was made possible by the sight being powered by a single AAA battery. These small and lightweight batteries are inexpensive and easy to find almost anywhere in the world. Readily available alkaline versions of the AAA simplify logistics, and eliminate the potential shipping hazards inherent in lithium batteries. Like the other Comp Series sights, the CompM5 boasts an extremely long battery life – with over 5 years of constant-on use at intensity level seven.

The CompM5 is fully submersible up to 45 meters (150 feet), and is compatible with all generations of Night Vision Devices, as well as Aimpoint’s professional magnifier line. A military grade optical lens system gives the CompM5 exceptional light transmission and dot clarity, making the sight operationally parallax free, and providing a crisp, clear dot even under magnification.

“The Aimpoint Comp Series has been established as the worldwide standard for military grade reflex sights for over 20 years. The new CompM5 sight provides professional end users the same levels of performance provided by our full-sized sights in a much more compact optic,” said Lennart Ljungfelt, President of Aimpoint AB. “This new product saves size and weight for the operator, with no sacrifice in overall performance.”

Aimpoint produces a complete line of high quality reflex sights for use by military, law enforcement, hunters, and sport shooters worldwide. The company also produces electronic fire control systems for use on crew-served military weapons. For more information on the CompM5 or other Aimpoint® products, please visit the company’s webpage: http://www.aimpoint.com.

Hogue Inc. Announces New HandALL Beavertail Grip Sleeves for Glock 26/27

image

Henderson, NV – Hogue Incorporated is proud to announce the newest addition to their line of HandALL® Beavertail™ Grip Sleeves with a model precisely designed to fit Glock’s 26 & 27. “Offering a Beavertail Grip Sleeve for Glock’s double stack sub-compact 26 and 27 models is a direct response to customer requests,”said grip designer Matt Hogue. “We have been making grip sleeves to fit Glocks since 1993. The enhanced precision features of our new unique-fit models are the next step in providing a long-lasting natural grip
solution for today’s shooters.”

The Beavertail Grip Sleeve is installed by slipping it over the firearm’s grip frame until it seats perfectly into position. The sleeve is precision manufactured to offer a more secure and comfortable fit. Once installed, the HandALL sleeve provides finger grooves for instinctive handling and control of the firearm. The grooves lead into a gentle palm swell that has been carefully designed to fit naturally in the hand. The beavertail built into the grip sleeve rises high along the backstrap of the frame. This provides full rubber contact with the hand allowing a higher hand-placement on the grip. In addition to protection and comfort, the beavertail also cushions the hand during recoil by providing better distribution of recoil forces. The built-in features of the grip sleeve provide comfort and confidence which in turn promotes accuracy.

The HandALL is built from a long-lasting durable thermoplastic elastomer compound. This rubber ages very gracefully and keeps a firm, tacky feel throughout the life of the grip. It will not harden, split or crack with age or usage. The surface is covered with Hogue’s familiar Cobblestone™ texture, a series of small circular bumps that provide an efficient non-slip, non-irritating grip on the rubber. This model of HandALL Beavertail Grip Sleeves has an MSRP of $10.95 for black, and $12.95 for OD green, flat dark earth, pink and purple.

The grip sleeve also alternatively fits Glock’s 31, 32 and 33 as well as H&K’s USP Compact .40. Although not designed for a precision fit on these models, the grip will fit and function well. Hogue Grip Sleeves are manufactured in their family-owned and operated facilities under the direct supervision of the Hogue family. Hogue, Inc. supports local dealers and encourages customers to purchase Hogue products locally. Chromatra LLC™ Exhibits ColorTAC™ CVA-14 Color Night Vision at NTOA Trade Show

To see the ColorTAC™ CVA-14, visit booth #355 at the NTOA Trade Show, to be held Sept. 24 – 25, 2017 at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

Beverly, Mass. (September 2017) – Chromatra LLC™, the innovator behind the design and manufacture of color capable night vision, will demonstrate its new product, the ColorTAC™ CVA-14 at booth #355atthe National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA) Trade Show. This state-of-the-art clip-on technology allows night vision users to see color through any existing PVS-14 device.

The NTOA Trade Show Tactical Operations Conference connects law enforcement professionals with internationally renowned instructors offering cutting-edge approaches to challenges faced by officers every day.  This year’s event will be held Sept. 24 – 25, 2017 at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, Arizona and will feature over 75 courses including seminars, practical tracks, and several contemporary incident debriefs.  Additionally, NTOA offers a first-class trade show where exhibitors such as Chromatra will demonstrate the most up-to-date equipment and technologies.

So how can ColorTAC benefit your organization?  By providing the entire picture…

For all its advantages, current night vision has inherent disadvantages as well:  The green or white glow of a NVG eliminates many tactically critical, color-coded pieces of information:  Is that blood or water on that shirt?  Is that mud or pavement?  Is that the car we’re looking for?  Is that a marsh or a field?  What am I looking at?  Who am I looking at?  With ColorTAC, Military and Law Enforcement officials will be able to answer these questions quickly and accurately.

Chromatra is the first company to develop this technology and is currently doing day and night demonstrations for military, law enforcement agencies and organizations that focus on disaster related efforts.

For professionals that rely on NVG’s to perform their mission, the ability to “See What’s Missing” can mean the difference between life and death. Pictured below are before and after photographs comparing the monochromatic green image seen through a PVS-14 to a PVS-14 with the ColorTAC CVA-14 color adapter attached.  Which picture will your team see?

Surefire Introduced the SureFire 2211 Signature WristLight

The rechargeable SureFire 2211® Signature WristLight provides hands-free tactical illumination for a broad range of low-light scenarios—including use with a handgun—and also features a fully integrated quality timepiece. When strapped to your support-side wrist, the 2211 Signature automatically aligns with a handgun when the weapon is held with a standard two-handed grip, projecting sufficient light for threat identification at close to medium range in low light and darkness. Its broad MaxVision Beam™, created by a precision faceted reflector that shapes the LED’s output into a seamless wall of white light, is generated at three output levels: 300, 60, and 15 lumens. The first two levels are bright enough to overwhelm an aggressor’s dark-adapted vision, providing a tactical advantage, and the lowest output level is perfect for tasks that don’t require so much light, such as loading gear. There’s even an optional 2211 WristLight Conversion Headstrap accessory (sold separately) that allows you to convert the WristLight into a headlamp, for tasks where you need both hands and the light source a bit farther back, such as working on an engine.

The virtually indestructible LED’s output is controlled via either of two ambidextrous switches found on the WristLight’s rugged, hard-anodized aluminum body. The LED is powered by a rechargeable lithium- ion battery that’s easily charged using an included micro-USB cable—there’s even an integral LED fuel gauge that lets you know when the WristLight needs charging. Just like our 2211® Luminox® WristLight, the Signature model features a fully integrated watch. For a go-anywhere tactical light with a fully integrated timepiece—at an attractive price point to boot—you can’t go wrong with a SureFire 2211 Signature WristLight.

Features

  • Straps to support-hand wrist, via its adjustable nylon strap, for instant access to 300 lumens and automatic alignment with handgun
  • Precision faceted reflector creates perfect MaxVision Beam. that’s wide and evenly dispersed

  • A quality timepiece is fully integrated into the body for added functionality
  • Fuel gauge indicates remaining battery power

MAGPUL’S MAGAZINE WELL FOR YOUR GLOCK GEN 3 and GEN 4

20170917_212224

We decided to take a look at Magpul’s magazine well for the Gen 3 and Gen 4 Glocks. Our conclusion is that its incremental cost is more than compensated for by the improved performance. Installation is a two minute process, and fit and finish are in keeping with Magpul’s  reputation.

20170917_212357The magwell ships with all components needed. Installation requires that you insert the magazine well in your grip; then, tighten the provided retaining screw. The only caution is that you not over tighten the screw, which should be flush with the back strap.

In addition to improving magazine change performance, the Magpul magazine well is also esthetically pleasing. We tested it with factory Glock magazines as well as Magpul Glock magazines and there were no alignment issues, all magazine’s used seated smoothly and  positively.

If you own a Gen 3 or Gen 4 Glock, this is an accessory worth adding to your Glock pistol.

Lasa Ballistic Helmet

Visitors to this year’s DSEI exhibition can experience first-hand two new ultra-lightweight ballistic helmets, being launched by the Composite and Defence business of Morgan Advanced Materials.

The AC912 and AC913 are new additions to Morgan’s acclaimed Lightweight Armored Soldier Architecture (LASA) range, and the result of Morgan’s world-leading expertise in advanced ballistic composite technology. While both models have been specially designed to be lighter than their AC914 and AC915 counterparts, they retain impressive ballistic, fragmentation, flammability and blunt trauma characteristics, ensuring maximum maneuverability without compromising on protection. The helmets are highly suitable for elite and regular military, defense, security and law enforcement personnel operating in protracted combat scenarios. The AC912 and AC913 helmets come with D3O TRUST® padding and Team Wendy’s CAM-FIT™ retention systems as standard, delivering maximum comfort and stability to the wearer.

Designed as a standard issue solution for combat operations, the AC912, weighing just 1.18kg (medium helmet) is a full cut helmet that covers the ears for greater protection. By contrast, the AC913, weighing just 1.05kg (medium helmet) features a high-cut design to ensure enhanced situational awareness for end-users, allowing elite police and special forces to remain fully alert to potential threats and dangerous situations. Both helmets can be upgraded to include lightweight open architecture slide rails, bungees and a shroud for mounting tactical accessories, helping users to gain the upper hand in combat.

Canadian armed forces will receive 4,000 systems in total. The lightweight, modular and open-architecture system is now being showcased to other militaries around the world.

Developed by Rheinmetall Canada’s its ARGUS soldier system, Integrated Soldier System (ISS),  uses specialized BMC4I software to provide a COP (common operating picture) with important mission information, such as friendly positions, enemy positions, and terrain overlaid on tactical maps. Voice and data are rapidly exchanged between soldiers and their commander, resulting in an overall increase in team mobility, lethality, sustainability, and interoperability. FIME Group Announces Only 400 Molot Vepr 12 model (VPR-12-02) Shotguns Remaining

Las Vegas, NV (Sept. 10, 2017) – www.fimegroup.com
The FIME Group, the importer of Molot Vepr rifles and shotguns, is announcing to the public that there are only approximately 400 of the Vepr-12-02 model shotguns available for purchase. Molot has the reputation of being one of the most reliable and consistent manufacturers of firearms in the industry and produces some of the most sought after Kalashnikov-based products available.
“This is it.  This is all we have and it is one of the most sought after configurations of the VEPR 12 that we imported,” says Walker English of the FIME Group. “The distributor RSR Group holds all of the remaining stock in their inventory. If a customer would like to purchase one of these models, this is their last chance to do so. They need to either have their local dealer order one through RSR, or seek out an online dealer or another dealer that might have one in stock. Given the current sanctions, once these are gone, there are no more available..”
Based on the RPK light machine gun Kalashnikov variant, the Molot Vepr 12 (VPR-12-02) is an original Russian production 12-gauge shotgun.   Due to import regulations, Molot products have been banned from US importation; thus making them instant collectors items and must-haves in any serious collection.
“We wanted our customers to be aware of the limited inventory levels, so that if there was a desire to own one of these shotguns, they could take advantage of this opportunity before it was too late,” adds English.

IWI US to Phase Out the Original TAVOR SAR

The TAVOR® X95™ Takes Center Stage

Harrisburg, Pa. (September 2017)IWI US, Inc., a subsidiary of Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) Ltd., announced today that they will be phasing out the original TAVOR® SAR from their product line.

The TAVOR SAR revolutionized the market for bullpup carbines in the US when it was first introduced in 2013. When the “next generation” TAVOR® X95™ was released in 2016, sales of the original SAR declined as consumers willingly embraced the improvements and upgrades in the X95.

“The market has spoken and it prefers the TAVOR X95”, said Michael Kassnar, VP of Sales & Marketing for IWI US. “We will phase out TAVOR SAR production over the next few months and concentrate on our X95, along with our recently announced TAVOR 7, for the future.”

The 2017 Golden Bullseye Award winning rifle of the year from Shooting Illustrated, the TAVOR X95’s compact, ergonomic design coupled with it outstanding reliability has won rave reviews from the public and shooting sports media, as well as law enforcement agencies.

The TAVOR X95 bullpup includes many upgrades from the original SAR model including a new fire control pack with a 5 to 6 lb. trigger pull, a repositioning of the ambidextrous mag release to an AR-15 location, Picatinny rails at the 3, 6 and 9 o’clock positions on the forearm with removable rail covers, the charging handle moved closer to the shooter’s center mass and a modular TAVOR style pistol grip that can be replaced with an optional standard pistol grip and traditional trigger guard with a smaller, lower profile bolt release button.

The TAVOR X95 is available in 5.56 in 16.5″ barrel for right and left handed shooters, and an 18.5″ barrel (also available for restricted states), 9mm with a 17″ barrel  and the new .300 Blackout version. NDIA Applauds Passage of a Continuing Resolution – encourages fast action to fully fund fiscal year 2018

image

ARLINGTON, VA – The National Defense Industrial Association is pleased with congressional actions Friday that saw a funding resolution passed to avoid a government shutdown. NDIA now calls on officials to act and pass the full fiscal year 2018 budget.

From retired Gen. Hawk Carlisle, NDIA president and chief executive officer:

“The National Defense Industrial Association applauds congressional action this week to pass a continuing resolution that keeps the federal government running, extends our nation’s debt limit, and provides relief for those areas ravaged by Hurricane Harvey. Now, we call on Congress and the White House to negotiate a grand bargain before the next deadline of Dec. 8 that provides predictable, stable, and sufficient funding for the rest of fiscal year 2018 and beyond.

“While we welcome the compromises that spare jobs from furlough and the government from shutting down, this is not a permanent fix. Forcing the Defense Department to operate under a continuing resolution for the ninth consecutive year will do serious harm to the readiness of our armed forces, military communities, and the men and women in uniform. Our federal workers and military members deserve our full support, not more uncertainty.”

Carlisle was among the 12 leaders of the Defense Related Associations who authored a Sept. 7 letter to congressional leadership encouraging regular order for the 2018 defense authorization and appropriations measures.

What to Do with Firearms and Ammunition Affected by Flood Waters

NSSF and SAAMI Provide Guidance on Dealing with Submerged Guns and Ammunition

NEWTOWN, Conn. — Firearms owners who have seen their guns and stored ammunition submerged by flood waters in storm-wracked areas are probably wondering if their firearms and ammunition can be salvaged and safely used.

The Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute® (SAAMI®) and National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®) point to two helpful documents containing guidelines to assist gun owners in making sound decisions related to safely handling and treating or disposing of these items, emphasizing to always err on the side of caution and safety.

SAAMI, founded in 1926, is an organization that creates and publishes industry standards on firearms and ammunition. NSSF is the trade association for the firearms and ammunition industry.

The SAAMI document “Guidance on Firearms That Have Been Submerged or Exposed to Extensive Amounts of Water” points out two major concerns about firearms that have been exposed to water: parts susceptible to moisture and rust damage such as metal parts, wood stocks and grips, and optics; and, secondly, infiltration of the action, barrel and safety systems by grit, silt and other foreign debris.

Always unload firearms before beginning any treatment process.

It’s important to limit moisture and corrosion damage to the component parts of the firearm. This can be accomplished by disassembling the component parts and using up to two coats of a moisture-displacing lubricant such as Hoppes #9 MDL or WD-40 to clean and stabilize the parts while, importantly, following the product’s directions so as not to damage, for instance, plastic or synthetic parts. Another tip is to allow wood stocks and grips to air-dry and not be force dried by exposure to heat.

The document emphasizes that once the firearm has been thoroughly dried, consideration must be given to having the firearm inspected and serviced by the manufacturer, an authorized service center, or a qualified gunsmith before putting the firearm back in service.

Dealing with Submerged Ammunition

To help firearms owners determine what to do with ammunition that has been affected by water and moisture, SAAMI offers another helpful document, “Guidance on Ammunition That Has Been Submerged in Water.”

Discussed are differences in moisture resistance between centerfire, rimfire and shotshell ammunition, and potential hazards associated with “drying out” cartridges, including possible deterioration and damage to cartridges due to drying methods.

Another serious hazard that could result from using compromised ammunition is the potential for a bore obstruction due to partial ignition of either the priming compound or the propellant powder charge, or both. Firing a subsequent round through an obstructed barrel can result in bodily injury, death and property damage.

SAAMI provides the following cautionary conclusion: “It would be impossible to ascertain for certain the extent of the deteriorating affect, if any, the water may have had on each individual cartridge. Therefore, the safe answer is that no attempt be made to salvage or use submerged ammunition. The ammunition should be disposed of in a safe and responsible manner. Contact your local law enforcement agency for disposal instructions in your area.

MasterPiece Arms’ Shooters Dominate Recent Precision Rifle Series (PRS) Matches

MPA Sponsored Shooters Matt Brousseau and Tyler Payne took first and third place respectively at the CORE Fall Classic, while MPA Sponsored Shooters Aaron Hipp, Jon Pynch and Scott Satterlee won first, second and third at the Meaford Long Range Steel Challenge.

MPA Sponsored Shooters (L-R) Jon Pynch, second place, Aaron Hipp, first place, and Scott Satterlee, third place at the Meaford Long Range Steel Challenge.

Comer, Ga. – (September 2017) – MasterPiece Arms (MPA), manufacturers of the MPA BA Rifles and Chassis Systems, is proud to announce that its sponsored shooter Matt Brousseau and Tyler Payne took first and third place, respectively, using the MPA BA Chassis, at the CORE Fall Classic, held at CORE Shooting in Baker, Florida, Sept. 2 – 3, 2017. In addition, sponsored shooters Aaron Hipp, Jon Pynch and Scott Satterlee swept the top three spots, using the MPA BA Chassis, at the Meaford Long Range Steel Challenge, held at the 4th Canadian Division Training Center just outside of Meaford, Ontario, Canada, Sept. 2 – 3, 2017.

Tyler Payne

“George designed one hell of a match down at CORE Shooting that tested you both mentally and physically. I’m pretty happy to come away with this win after being down nine points on day one,” remarked Brousseau.

“I’m not sure it has completely sunken in yet, but I was lucky enough to pull off the win at the Meaford Long Range Steel Challenge. I’m saying luck because there was a ton of talent in our squad and everyone was shooting well. My MasterPiece Arms chassis is by far my favorite chassis on the market, especially with my new custom engraved angled barricade blocks, which were extremely helpful on a few stages, in addition to the RAT adapter,” commented Hipp.

Matt Brousseau

Not only is the MPA BA Competition Chassis winning matches, it’s taking over the Precision Rifle Series (PRS) community. According to a 2017 survey, the MPA BA Chassis is the most popular chassis among the top 100 PRS shooters and experienced a 900 percent increase in use from the year before, which was by far the biggest jump among all chassis systems. MPA BA rifles and chassis are built by precision rifle shooters, for precision rifle shooters. In fact, MPA’s president, Phil Cashin, is an active PRS shooter. He finished in the top 100 this year and qualified for the finale last year. Cashin is always testing out new ideas and tweaks in the matches he competes in and continues to seek out feedback from other world class shooters.

Hogue Knives Announces New EX-F02 Knives with G10 Handles

image

Henderson, NV – Hogue Knives is proud to announce the expansion of their USA-made EX-F02 line to now feature G10 handles. “The EX-F02’s light-weight durable design was created specifically with the outdoors-man in mind,” explained Hogue Knives engineer Scott Bruhns. “Manufacturing the handles in G10 material adds to that durability and creates a visually stunning knife.”

G10 is a composite high-pressure fiberglass laminate. It is an optimal material for knife-making because of its strength, excellent insulation properties and chemical resistance. Hogue’s patented G-Mascus® process creates a pattern mimicking the visual characteristics of Damascus steel. In addition, the angular primal texture on the surface of the EX-F02 handle results in a very unique patterning within the Damascus appearance.

The aesthetic enhancements of the EX-F02 have not sacrificed the functionality of the knife. With its large stick tang construction, broad top edge and serrated thumb ramp, the EX-F02 will stand up to the most demanding of challenges. A finger detent and a gentle recess on the tail end result in better leverage in a reverse grip situation. The EX-F02 is offered in both clip point and tanto style blades manufactured from quality 154 CM stainless steel that has been heat treated to RC 57-59, cryogenically treated and finally hand sharpened and honed to a keen edge.

A knife of such dynamic executed design requires a complementary sheath equal to the task. Hogue’s solution was to uniquely design a precisely fitted ambidextrous auto-retention aerospace polymer sheath to constrain this beast of a knife. “We knew we had a winner with the EX-F02 design but refused to settle offering the knife alone,” said Bruhns. “The sheath had to match, if not exceed this knife in star power.

We have created a sheath so unique it needs to be seen to be believed.” With its automatic retention ability to steadfastly lock the knife and its MOLLE compatible mounting capabilities, the sheath is ready when you are.

Hogue’s G10 EX-F02 models are MSRP $159.95 for the tumbled versions and $174.95 for the coated knives. Available in either clip point or tanto blade options, the knife also offers three choices of G10 colors: G-Mascus black, G-Mascus green and G-Mascus dark earth.

Hogue Knives are designed by former Recon Marine and custom knife maker Allen Elishewitz and made in the USA by Hogue Incorporated. All Hogue products are manufactured in family-owned and operated facilities under the direct supervision of the Hogue family.

Hogue Incorporated supports local dealers and encourages customers to purchase Hogue products locally. For more information please call Hogue directly at 1-800-438-4747 or visit http://www.hogueknives.com to find a Hogue dealer near you.

Ritter & Stark GmbH New Sponsor of Guardian Long Range Competition

As part of its sponsorship, Ritter & Stark has donated a gift certificate valued at $3,277 to the prize table.

Feistritz, Austria (September 2017)Ritter & Stark GmbH, an Austrian-based firearms design and manufacturing company, is proud to announce that it’s signed on as a sponsor of the Guardian Long Range Competition. As part of its sponsorship, Ritter & Stark has donated a gift certificate of 50% off a rifle valued at $3,277 to the prize table. The Ritter & Stark team will be at the final Guardian match of the year to be held September 16, 2017 at Woody’s Hunt & Rifle Club in New Hill, North Carolina.  In addition, the Friday before the last Guardian match of the year, R&S will be hosting a demo of the SX-1 MTR for attendees to shoot. Attendees who try the SX-1 will automatically be registered to win a free registration for any 2018 Guardian match, a thank you for coming out and trying the R&S SX-1 MTR.

The Guardian Long Range Competition is a full day precision shooting event, offering competitors the opportunity to test their skills with a rifle and compete. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the competition will go toward reducing the orphan crisis by helping offset the financial cost for parents considering adoption through Bethany Christian Services, America’s largest Christian nonprofit organization.

“We are proud to be sponsors of the Guardian Long Range Competition and glad we have the chance to give a well deserving champion an amazing prize,” said Yakov Trakhman, marketing director of Ritter & Stark.

Ritter & Stark produces the stunning SX-1 MTR rifle, an advanced long-range precision rifle, designed by the world’s best engineers, using state of the art machinery and proprietary techniques. The SX-1 MTR allows the operator to quickly and easily change out calibers between .308 Win, .300 Win Magnum and .338 Lapua Magnum while in the field.

In addition to the ease of interchangeability, the barrels come with a MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail pre-installed, allowing the operator to pre-sight optics on each barrel, eliminating any need to re-zero the rifle when changing caliber.

One of the secrets to Ritter & Stark’s unprecedented accuracy is its unique barrel production. No other barrel maker in the world manufacturers its barrels like Ritter & Stark. The rifling is done in a CNC-controlled electrochemical machine. This avoids the transmission of thermal effects and mechanical stress to the material. Furthermore, this process allows Ritter & Stark to produce barrels with unique uniformity and within tolerance zones that were not possible in serial production before.

Every rifle is tested at the factory and can achieve 0.5 MOA 3-round groups or better using factory match grade ammunition.
