Clarifying the relationship between Grayboe Stocks and McMillan Fiberglass Stocks, there is a miss-conception that Grayboe is affiliated with McMillan Fiberglass stocks but this is not the case.  They are in completely separate facilities and Grayboe Stocks is a completely separate entity with no financial or organizational ties to McMillan Fiberglass Stocks.

If you don’t already know Grayboe is about to release a new stock called the Ridgeback.  The Ridgeback is directed at the PRS / Tactical shooter market and features M-Lok built into the forend, and bubble level, and an single hand adjustable cheek piece. Appleton, WI, November 6, 2017— Armament Systems and Procedures (ASP), a leading manufacturer of law enforcement products, is expanding its offering of high-performance tactical lighting solutions with the addition of the company’s first programmable flashlights. The new Pro DF and Pro AA lights offer primary illumination of 500 and 305 lumens, respectively, with a secondary light level that’s user-programmable at 15, 60, or 150 lumens, or strobe. The AA model uses universally-available AA batteries, while the DF (“Dual Fuel”) model works with either an 18650 rechargeable battery or two CR123A primary (single use) cells.
In keeping with ASP’s emphasis on intuitive design and simplicity in its law enforcement tools and training, activation of the Pro light is via a single pressure switch on the tail cap—press once to activate the primary/max setting, twice to activate the user-programmed secondary mode. A 3-position twist selector on the tail cap allows choice of intermittent, constant-on, or locked. Programming or reprogramming the secondary mode is equally straightforward, and can be accomplished in a few seconds.
Pro Lights feature Cree XPG LEDs—among the brightest and whitest light sources available—driven by advanced electronics, and protected by a high-efficiency thermal management system. Other features of the Pro light include a hardcoat-anodized body with spiral knurling, machined aluminum parabolic reflector, multi-position pocket clip, and more. Like all ASP products, the new Pro lights are designed and tested in the US, to stringent ANSI performance standards, and covered by a lifetime warranty.

The Pro AA flashlight has an MSRP of $100.00 and includes two ASP high-performance batteries. The DF version ships with a rechargeable 18650 battery, charging adapters and other accessories, for $140. Where Has All the Butane Gone ?

It’s Friday and time for a shoot the shit! Before diving into our topics, I hope everyone had a great week, I certainly did and, as you all, I too am looking forward to Holiday Season festivities which I might add are nearly upon us.

A shoot the shit is an event when people gather to socialize, without using Twitter and Facebook,  to chat about everything and anything, even if you don’t have a clue of what you’re talking about. They’re good for building relationships, relaxing, congregating and overall mental health without having to pay some jackass who’s sole reason for majoring in psychology was so they could understand themselves. As a shoot the shit participant, you can make any unsupported comment, express yourself using profanity, insult anyone you wish or change the subject altogether.

Many of you know that we live in a time when the number of morons and other genetics defects are on the rise. If you don’t believe it just stand outside of an Apple store for an hour. It takes a special someone to pay 1,299 for a 256Gb iPhone X so they can send 3D talking emojis. Allow me to give you a couple of examples.

I have a BBQ grill starter that I also use when I need to light a fireplace, etc. I went to use it a few days ago and noticed that it was out of fuel, butane to be exact. I jumped into the car and went to CVS to purchase a can. When I arrived, I was looked at with askance by an employee who says in an indignant tone “ we’ve gotten rid of all our tobacco products.” I responded saying “I’m only looking for a can of butane.” “Sorry sir we no longer sell butane” was her response. Well I guess you won’t get my money today, I thought, and headed out the door to go to Walgreens.

I arrived at Walgreens where I observed the presence of tobacco products behind the counter. I was asked to be helped by the associate so I asked her for a can of butane. She looked at me saying “Oh no we don’t have that anymore.” I said “but you sell tobacco products and look you have BIC lighters, surely you have butane.” She says “Oh no we got rid of that stuff.”

Now, I don’t fault the companies’ employees but it’s a classical example of running an enterprise like a moron. Both of these companies, in an effort to be part of the PC crowd, leaped to the conclusion that selling butane is encouraging smoking. So, what I was forced to do, in order to buy butane to refill my grill starter, you guessed it,  was go to a tobacco shop! That’s your iPhone generation at work, and a vibrant example of decision making by crania-rectal inversion. Ladies and gentlemen clear thinking can only be expected from a properly oxygenated brain.

But, God works in mysterious ways and when I got to the tobacco shop I ran into Julio, otherwise know as “Pupi”, who hooked me up with …

Folks, Homo sapiens have been around for 200,000 years and I’ll guarantee you that no one was checking on planetary conditions back then. So, we’ve been able to collect data for 100 years and “scientists” are forecasting on a geophysical formation called Earth that is 4.6 billion years old. Please!

Readers, our planet is 75% water and that water came from Earth’s warming over billions of years. Planetary warming acting on water is what gave us an atmosphere and as recent as 12,000 years ago our own Great Lakes were formed by global warming acting on a 12 mile thick ice cap. To suggest that climate change is directly correlated to recent human activity is equivalent to saying that you are going to speed up an oil tanker using a canoe paddle. Clean air and clean water is the right approach and lets focus on what really is important which is finding a way to house and feed 7.6 billion human beings living on a planet that has a land mass of only 25% of its surface of which 33% is uninhabitable.

The Hornady 4DOF calculator provides trajectory solutions based on projectile Drag Coefficient (not ballistic coefficient) along with the exact physical modeling of the projectile and its mass and aerodynamic properties. Additionally, it is the first publicly available program that will correctly calculate the vertical shift a bullet experiences as it encounters a crosswind; referred to as aerodynamic jump. The use of drag coefficients, correct projectile dynamics, aerodynamic jump and spin drift enable the Hornady 4DOF ballistic calculator to be the most accurate commercial trajectory program available–even at extreme ranges.

“Current ballistic calculators provide three degrees of freedom in their approach; windage, elevation and range, but treat the projectile as an inanimate lump flying through the air,” said Dave Emary, Hornady Chief Ballistician.“ This program incorporates the projectile’s movement in the standard 3 degrees but also adds its movement about its center of gravity and subsequent angle relative to its line of flight, which is the fourth degree of freedom.”

Using Doppler radar, Hornady engineers have calculated exact drag versus velocity curves for each bullet in the 4DOF™ calculator library. Combined with the physical attributes of the projectiles, the 4DOF™ calculator is simply more accurate for long range hits than using BC based systems or custom drag curves based on limited data collection points.

The 4DOF ballistic calculator is used with pre-populated bullet files that include long range match and hunting style bullets. This includes Hornady ELD-X® and ELD® Match bullets along with appropriate BTHP bullets. In addition, popular long range projectiles from other companies like Sierra, Berger and more are included. TraceX Explosive Detection Kit

Ramat HaSharon, Israel, (November 1, 2017) –   Israel Weapon Industries (IWI), an SK Group member – a leader in the production of combat-proven small arms for law enforcement agencies, governments, and armies around the world – is launching the 7.62X51mm caliber IWI TAVOR 7, the newest member of the successful TAVOR Bullpup Rifle Family. Adapted for military and law enforcement markets, it will be on display at Defense and Security Thailand (6-9 Nov. 2017 Booth F33), Milipol (Paris) France (21-24 Nov. 2017 Booth G 025), and Expodefensa Colombia. IWI US will launch the civilian version of the TAVOR 7 7.62x51mm at the 2018 SHOT Show (Booth 15138), held in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The TAVOR 7 is a fully ambidextrous platform on which the ejection side and the charging handle can be switched quickly and easily from side to side by the user. The ambidextrous features include: safety lever, magazine release, and bolt catch similar to the X95. The IWI TAVOR 7 also includes an M-LOK fore-end (2 M-LOK slots at 3 and 9 o’clock) as well as MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail at the 6 o’clock position, to allow the use of multiple devices and accessories. The rifle’s body is built from high-strength, impact-modified polymer, and has a hammer-forged, chrome-lined, free-floating barrel for enhanced accuracy and life cycle.

Additional features include a short stroke gas piston with a 4-position variable gas regulator, (including an OFF position – a unique feature designed for special operation needs), a rotating bolt system that ensures maximum safety for the user, and a pistol grip that can be changed or modified. The IWI TAVOR 7 enables 100% interchangeability, reducing maintenance costs. It is available in four colors: Sniper Gray, OD Green, Black, and Flat Dark Earth, with replaceable barrels available in two lengths – 17″ (432 mm) and 20″ (508 mm) – for various uses. The rifle has an overall length of 28.4″ (723 mm) and a weight without a magazine of 9lbs (4.1 Kg).

FAA Grants Airworthiness Certificate for Aurora’s Optionally-Piloted UH-1H

Manassas, VA, November 1, 2017 – Aurora Flight Sciences announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted a Special Airworthiness Certificate to Aurora’s newest optionally-piloted aircraft, a UH-1H helicopter. The latest development in the Office of Naval Research’s (ONR) Autonomous Aerial Cargo/Utility System (AACUS) program, Aurora has added a complete digital flight control system to create the “Autonomy-enabled UH-1,” or AEH-1.

The UH-1, originally developed in the late 1950s and made famous by its role in the Vietnam War, was chosen by Aurora for its latest conversion to a robotic vehicle. The Aurora UH-1H, a later version of the UH-1 built in 1977, was initially certified under FAA Order 8130.2, which covers “inhabited” experimental aircraft such as homebuilt and other developmental aircraft. The latest certification under FAA Order 8130.34 permits Optionally-Piloted Aircraft (OPA) operation with only a Safety Pilot required to monitor the controls. “The Special Airworthiness Certificate is a significant validation of the program’s capabilities by the FAA,” said John Langford, Aurora Chairman and CEO. “The OPA technology not only enhances the UH-1H system but will expand the operational capability of the mission in the field.”

By focusing on safety and maturity in the digital flight control system, the AEH-1 permits the rapid development and test of emerging rotorcraft autonomy technologies. The aircraft is currently flying as the testbed for Aurora’s Tactical Autonomous Aerial Logistics System (TALOS) technology. The UH-1H is the third manned aircraft Aurora has converted to robotic-controlled or OPA operation. Other conversions include a Diamond DA42 and a Cessna C208 Caravan. Both lengths feature upper and lower case aluminum 7075 T6 material and an advanced Piston Operation System which delivers a consistent rate of fire while eliminating gas exiting at the rear of the rifle, even when using a suppressor. The rifle is also easy to disassemble and clean by any soldier on the combat field.

The MZ-300 is a 7.62x35mm caliber, .300AAC Blackout automatic weapon available with EMTAN_MZ300optional barrel lengths of 9”, 11.5”, and 14.5”. It utilizes 5.56x45mm standard bolts and magazines without any alterations, and is an ideal solution for automatic and semi-automatic firing with short barrels and suppressors. The MZ-300 delivers greater terminal ballistics effects such as stopping power and reduced penetration, with an option of automatic firing with suppressors.

The National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA) Announces Educational Scholarship Program Applications Now Open

The James Torkar Educational Scholarship Program application period is open from Nov. 1, 2017 through April 1, 2018 for dependent children of active NTOA “Individual” members.


Doylestown, Pa. (November 2017) – The National Tactical Officers Association

(NTOA) is pleased that the James Torkar Educational Scholarship Program application period is now open from Nov. 1, 2017 through April 1, 2018. This program benefits dependent children of members with active NTOA “Individual” memberships that are at least 16 years old and U.S. citizens. It provides funding for college tuition and other eligible expenses, such as room and board, required books, required supplies, required equipment, mandatory fees and / or special needs services.

For the 2017/2018 Scholarship period, two, $2,500 scholarships will be awarded to each region: Eastern, Central and Western.

Scholarships may be awarded one of two ways:

  1. The creation and funding of an IRS 529 College Savings Plan.
  2. Direct payment to the educational institution.

Under current IRS regulations, a 529 plan fund grows tax-free from federal income tax and when used for qualified higher educational expenses may be withdrawn free from federal income taxes. The NTOA Educational Scholarships will be awarded with a parent or duly appointed guardian as the owner and the dependent child as the beneficiary.

Michael Kassnar, VP of IWI, Announces Retirement

Kassnar, a firearms industry veteran who spearheaded multiple brands, including IWI, to the forefront of success

Harrisburg, Pa. (October 2017) – Michael Kassnar, Vice President of Sales and Marketing forIWI US, Inc., a subsidiary of Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) Ltd., has announced his retirement from IWI, effective immediately.

“I’ve reached a point in my career where I feel comfortable enough to step back and let others take the reins,” Kassnar commented. “I’ve been very fortunate to have had such a long and interesting career in an industry that I am truly passionate about.”

Prior to bringing the highly successful IWI brand to the US, Kassnar’s history within the shooting sports industry began when he started to work for his father in 1976 at Kassnar Imports, Inc. in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. By the time 1989 rolled around, he had started his own business, K.B.I. Inc., importing IMI’s Jericho pistols, Russian and Hungarian small arms, Armscor 1911 pistols, and a few years later added the popular Charles Daly line of over & under, side-by-side, semi-auto and pump-action shotguns. In early 2010, the marketplace shifted and K.B.I. formally closed its doors.

Always the entrepreneur, Kassnar started a new company, Trans World Arms, LLC and continued with the Charles Daly Defense line adding his first American made MSR’s and carbines to the product line. In 2013, the public demand for Israeli made firearms, especially the much sought after TAVOR® bullpup, caught Kassnar’s eye and utilizing his many international contacts, he was able to bring the TAVOR to the US.

And so, with the closing of TWA’s doors, IWI US, Inc., the subsidiary of Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) Ltd. opened in the same facility that once held Kassnar Imports and K.B.I. As IWI US’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Kassnar was responsible for bringing the iconic bullpup to market in an aggressively AR-style marketplace. With his industry-wide reputation as a fair and honest business partner, he was able to open doors in the distribution channel and media outlets that resulted in the TAVOR outselling its initial production run by 300% in its first year, as well as earning it American Rifleman’s Golden Bullseye Rifle of the Year for 2014. IWI US also won “Importer of the Year” from the National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers (NASGW) for two consecutive years 2014 – 2015.

“I am leaving IWI US in good hands with Casey Flack, our CEO, at the helm,” Kassnar added. “I look forward to catching up with friends and family and some long overdue personal projects.”

Inland’s new M30-I.M.P. (Inland Motor Patrol pistol) is a compact version of Inland’s popular full size .30 Carbine caliber firearms. The M30-IMP is fitted into a special Inland/Sage aluminum pistol chassis with Ergo Sure Grip pistol grip and will accept any ATF approved arm brace that utilizes a standard AR style pistol buffer tube.

The 71/2-inch barrel is threaded (1/2×28 tpi) and comes with a thread protector. Each M30-IMP is shipped with one 10-round magazine and, like all Inland .30 Carbine firearms the magazine catch fits higher-capacity military and civilian magazines (See note below).

Marines In Training at MCDSD and Pendleton Exposed to E. coli

Base officials announced yesterday that 300 Marines-in-training at Marine Corps Depot San Diego along with some personnel at Camp Pendleton have been exposed to the E.coli pathogen.

Escherichia coli is a proteobacteria normally transmitted via the oral-fecal route. E. coli is usually an indicator of raw sewage contamination of potable water or food supply contamination. It can enter the food supply from food handlers failing to wash their hands after excretion and wearing latex gloves while food handling The bacteria can live in the intestinal track of animals and humans.

E. coli pathology:

E. coli O157:H7 is one of the most infective strains that can cause food poisoning. It  can lead to bloody diarrhea and kidney failure when one gets infected by contaminated ground beef, unpasteurized milk or contaminated water. Some important symptoms are diarrhea that is acute and severe, either bloody or not bloody, stomach cramping, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, and fever. The causes can usually clear up on their own in 1-3 days with no treatment required. However, patients should avoid dairy products because those products may induce temporary lactose intolerance, and therefore make the diarrhea worse.

At this year’s International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Conference in Philadelphia, PA, GLOCK presented the Drug Enforcement Administration Survivors Benefit Fund (DEASBF) with a contribution for $30,000 and donated $50,000 to the Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.).

On hand to receive the donation on behalf of the DEASBF was Chairman Richard Crock.  This marked the ninth annual significant donation to the DEASBF by GLOCK, Inc. “GLOCK has a long history of supporting both the individuals who go into harm’s way and their families,” stated GLOCK National Sales Manager Bob Radecki.  “We are proud to contribute to this great organization which makes such a vital impact in the communities in which we all live.”

DEA Survivors Benefit Fund Chairman Crock stated, “the fund would not exist without donors and partners like GLOCK.  Currently, the Benefit Fund pays line of duty death and continuing education benefits to the families of DEA Agents and Task Force Officers killed in the line of duty.”  Currently the fund finances the education of 8 children, all of whom lost their father in the line of duty.

Receiving the contribution for C.O.P.S. were Executive Director Dianne Bernhard, Director of Operations Shelly Jones, and Development Director Lauren Crisman.  “The families of our fallen law enforcement heroes are supported every year by GLOCK,” said C.O.P.S. Executive Director Dianne Bernhard. “GLOCK honors these heroes by helping to ensure their sacrifice will never be forgotten, nor will their families. C.O.P.S. could not do what we do without GLOCK.”

“Organizations like C.O.P.S. provide hope and support for family members during a time of tragedy,” said Radecki.  “It means a great deal to GLOCK to provide for those left behind by their loved ones.”

ASP Promotes Daryell Harmon to VP, Law Enforcement Sales

Appleton, WI, October 30, 2017—Armament Systems and Procedures (ASP) has promoted Daryell Harmon to Vice President, Law Enforcement Sales. Harmon started with ASP in 2011 as a Regional Sales Director, eventually becoming North American Sales Director, and most recently, Law Enforcement Sales Manager.

Harmon’s first exposure to ASP was with the Dallas Police Department, where he served as an officer from 1999 to 2011. As part of his role as a training officer, Harmon—who had attained the rank of Sergeant with DPD—became an ASP Instructor, and later a Trainer, teaching other instructors.

A customer asks for a 100 round box of Federal, brass cased, 115gr 9mm. The associate turns around and retrieves a box from the shelf; in the process, the employee accidentally drops the box, which was followed by a very loud KABOOM! Two elderly customers fled the area shouting there’s a mass killing! The two rounds to the right of the exploded shell casing were retrieved from a customer’s shopping basket on the opposite side of the ammo counter!

This has been another TRUE STORY!

FN ISSUES MANDATORY SAFETY RECALL OF ALL FN M249S® RIFLES

FN America, LLC, announces the mandatory recall of certain FN M249S® semi-automatic, belt-fed rifles in both standard and PARA configurations. A recently identified design issue within the hammer group of the rifle may adversely affect the rifle’s reliability. Under certain circumstances, a reset failure within the hammer group may cause the M249S to cease to function, causing an unsafe firing event. To correct this condition and restore consistent, proper and safe operation of the firearm, it is necessary to replace the hammer group.

FN is instructing customers to discontinue use of these rifles immediately and return affected products to FN directly for installation of a new hammer group, at no cost.
