ANOKA, Minnesota – January 5, 2018 – Federal Premium built on the legendary performance of its time-tested Hydra-Shok platform to create new Hydra-Shok Deep. The hard-hitting new round delivers improved penetration and superior reliability to provide handgun owners with a powerful new option for personal defense. Original Hydra-Shok has been a self-defense staple since its creation in 1989 in response to the FBI’s request for a projectile with better terminal ballistics than traditional cup-and-core bullets. The Hydra-Shok bullet’s notched jacket, non-bonded lead core and unique center-post hollow-point design produced better penetration and more consistent threat-stopping expansion than other bullets at the time.
“FBI performance requirements and protocol testing have evolved over time,” said Head. “One of the most notable changes has been the desire for deeper-penetrating rounds and more consistency in penetration depths though all intermediate barriers.”
New Hydra-Shok Deep was built to meet these modern standards. Its bullet features a core design that provides up to 50 percent deeper penetration than original Hydra-Shok and similar loads from competitors, and the center post has been improved so it’s more robust, which provides better integrity and performance through barriers. Testing shows that Hydra-Shok Deep penetrates 15 inches in bare ballistics gelatin, which is the optimal depth, according to FBI standards.
Hydra-Shok Deep not only outscores the competition in testing, its remarkable improvements in expansion, penetration and integrity through defensive barriers boost real-world performance as well. “Hydra-Shok Deep reliably stops threats by controlling bullet expansion to cause significant tissue damage and penetrating deep enough to reach vital organs,” said Head.
Hydra-Shok Deep also uses surefire Federal primer and premium propellants to ensure optimum performance of both bullet and firearm. The propellants also contain flash suppressants to reduce muzzle flash and minimize temporary blindness in low-light shooting situations.

2017: Year In Review
We can’t look ahead to the future without first taking a look back. We began 2017 with high hopes following the inauguration of our 45th President of the United States. As the leading organization representing suppressor enthusiasts and the suppressor industry, we worked hard throughout 2017 to promote the Hearing Protection Act (HPA) as both a standalone bill and as part of the Sportsmen’s Heritage and Recreational Enhancement Act (SHARE). Although it has not yet reached President Trump’s desk, the HPA gained more cosponsors and advanced further than ever before. As of December 31, the HPA has 164 cosponsors in the House and 18 cosponsors in the Senate. The HPA was consistently in the list of Top 10 most viewed bills at Congress.gov week after week, and was listed as the #8 most viewed bill in 2017.
In 2017, we also worked on state level advocacy to legalize suppressors in the eight states remaining that do not allow for private ownership. We helped introduce bills in every state, with the exception of New Jersey, to legalize suppressor ownership and hunting.
Agenda for 2018
The ASA will maintain our focus in 2018 on both State lobbying through our “No State Left Behind” campaign, as well as pushing for NFA reforms aimed at reducing transfer times, modernizing NFA workflow and further streamlining the application process.
While the ultimate goal remains to remove suppressors from the NFA through passage of the Hearing Protection Act, we are also seeking solutions that provide relief from unacceptably long transfer times for consumers. These long transfer times continue to stifle the growth and innovation of the suppressor industry.

Take a look at the body of this e-mail message advising the target that their e-mail account will be deactivated. There are several things to note here. First, the individual is working a list of known good e-mail accounts. Second, take a look at how the perpetrator spells “De-activation.” They also include a footer to the message indicating not to respond to this e-mail. The objective here is to get the unsuspecting target to click on the hyperlink.
The image below reveals that the message comes from a callmeamanda321. This is a bogus email account which is the reason they attempt to steer you from responding to their email via a reply. A common practice used in legitimate transactions; for example, advising you that your purchase has shipped or other informational messages. The callmeamanda321 is bogus (.i.e. non- existent account) or mapped to another email account.
These types of phishing attacks are relatively successful because of the topic, composition and the fact that they have your actual e-mail address, and reference it in the body of the message text.
The majority of cyber attacks on government and enterprise IT resources come from these types of e-mail attacks, and the inability of the individual to assess the validity of the message content.
The new assault rifle is scheduled to become the new standard issued rifle design to meet NATO standards. The WAC-47 is a step forward by the Ukrainian Defense Industry to meet Euro-Atlantic structures. Development of the WAC-47 platform is a joint effort between Ukroboronrpom and California based Aeroscraft.
The new WAC-47 supports a number of calibers: 5.45×39, 7.62×39 and 5.56×45 NATO, as well as the 458 SOCOM and 6.8 SPC II. Ukroboronrpom has produced and deliver a small quantity of the WAC-47 in 7.62×39 for testing by the Ukrainian military, law enforcement and other agencies.

We are pleased to announce that Lt. Collins has joined our team as a staff writer. Lt. Collins served in Southeast Asia then joined the Submarine Force serving aboard the USS Ray SSN-653 as well as other Commands. I had the honor to serve with Harry; he is one hell of a warrior not to mention a “chick magnet.”
While in Southeast Asia, Harry conducted operations that included infiltrations and exfiltrations, along with patrols to intercept waterborne enemy movement of supplies and personnel.
“…We spent most of 1968 in I Corp running the Cua Viet River to Dong Ha on the DMZ, the Perfume River to Hue, and in and out of Da Nang for three Counteroffensives of Tet. The latter part of 1968 we were in III Corp on the Mekong Delta. I volunteered for submarine duty while in Saigon…”
Harry left the Navy after 11 years of service then sailed with the Merchant Marine as an Able Seaman. In Harry’s own words:
“… I left the Navy after a little with over 11 years of service in 1978. I sailed in the Merchant Marine as an Able Seaman aboard tankers, freighters, and container ships. When I had enough sea time I sat for my Deck Officers License. Within 17 days of obtaining my License for steam or motor vessels of any gross tons upon oceans I had a berth as Third Mate. I applied for a Navy Reserve Commission and became a 1625 Officer. I called the Chief Torpedoman off the Ray and told him they had made me an Ensign. He said, “Don’t worry. I won’t tell anyone…”
In addition to distinguished military service, Harry is a proud Kentuckian, devout husband, father, proud grandpa and a real outdoorsman.
“…I grew up on thoroughbred horse farms. We had other livestock as well. Pigs, chickens, sheep, and cattle were a part of the daily routine. Under my father’s supervision I was shooting groundhogs with a 220 Swift at age 8. We shot dove, quail, and ducks too. There was no season for deer state wide simply because their population was so small.. Only on military reservations did they have a season. I rode horses everywhere and fox hunted. After I was too old for pony club we started playing polo. In high school I played football and pole vaulted…”

WESTFIELD, Massachusetts – January 3, 2018 – Savage firearms is pleased to unveil a refreshed version of its legendary Model 110 series rifles that takes fit, form and function to new heights. The updated Model 110 lineup features a fresh look and the all-new user-adjustable AccuFit system. Savage will launch the new lineup at the 2018 SHOT Show January 23-26 at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Model 110 series’ extreme makeover began as a cosmetic facelift focused on style and aesthetics, but soon grew into a quest to produce a platform that would allow hunters and other shooters to perfectly customize fit for ultimate accuracy, without a trip to a gunsmith. The result was the development of the revolutionary AccuFit system.
AccuFit features adjustable components that allow users to custom-fit both comb height and length of pull. The only tool needed is a Phillips-head screwdriver.
“AccuFit makes it easy for shooters to achieve a fit that allows them to shoulder the gun and align their eye with the optics in a consistent manner, without having to move their head around to compensate for being the wrong height or distance from the scope,” said Beth Shimanski, Savage senior marketing manager. “The resulting combination of a solid cheek-to-stock connection, proper eye relief and comfortable, personalized fit add up to better shooting form and improved accuracy.”
Comb height is controlled by five riser settings, adjustable in 1/8-inch increments. “Simply select the riser that creates cheek-to-stock contact and aligns your line of sight parallel to the barrel or scope,” Shimanski explained. Length of pull is likewise fully adaptable to the shooter’s stature by using the four inserts included with the rifle.
“AccuFit is usually a set-and-forget system, but its versatility allows you to tailor length of pull and comb height as needed, such as when changing optics or donning bulky clothing for cold-weather hunting,” said Shimanski. “AccuFit also accommodates physical changes, making it the perfect youth gun that will grow with the shooter throughout a lifetime of use.”
Shimanski noted that AccuFit’s adaptability also increases the rifle’s resale value, because it can easily be customized to fit the new owner. Likewise, the gun can be adjusted as needed if the gun is handed down to a family member.
In addition to AccuFit, all Model 110s also offer Savage’s patented user-adjustable AccuTrigger, which offers a light, crisp trigger pull with no creep and prevents the firearm from discharging if jarred or dropped. An AccuStock chassis is also standard. The rigid rail system, firmly embedded in the stock through the fore-end of the rifle, engages the action along its entire length, instead of simply at one or two points, yielding increased rigidity for better accuracy.

MONROVIA, Calif., Jan. 3, 2018 – AeroVironment, Inc. AeroVironment will also possess exclusive rights to design and manufacture all such aircraft in the future for HAPSMobile, subject to the terms of the Joint Venture Agreement.

It appears that Glock Inc. has leaked the planned release of a new pistol, the G19X. So, what exactly is the G19X? It’s been described as a crossover pistol composed of a Glock 19 slide riding on a Glock 17 full-sized frame. Apparently, the 19X is derived from Glock’s participation in the Army’s Modular Handgun System (MHS) competition and is expected to hit select retailer shelves on 22 Jan 2018.
For the 19X, Glock eliminated the grip finger grooves, the cutout in front of the magazine well, there are no external safety and ambidextrous slide stop levers (hopefully they’ll be extended) . Glock plans to ship the pistol with three 17 round magazines; however, two of the magazines will have base plates that allow for an additional 2 rounds, so it looks like you’ll have 19 in the magazine + one in the pipe for a total of 20 rounds. The leak also indicated enhanced polygonal rifling and a target crown ( sounds very much like Glock’s Marksman barrel). The pistol will be released in coyote brown, frame and slide, using an NPVD slide coating. The Glock 19X will also have a lanyard loop.

I have taken the position that government and the private sector should restrict employees and managers from accessing enterprise computing resources with personal laptops, desktops or smart devices. Furthermore, no employee or manager should be allowed to use a government or company laptop, desktop or smart device for personal use.
The Phishing email above is one of the better one’s I’ve seen. Sentence structure, adjective/noun order is very good ( in most languages the adjective follows the noun it modifies. Not so in English.) Even the way the information is presented is quite good. The only way to see that it’s a phishing email is by looking at the message header details. This particular email appears to have originated in Finland, but there’s no real way to make that assessment by an individual. It could have originated in Eastern Europe using a proxy in Finland.
The majority of cyber attacks start with phishing emails targeting individuals. Once the individual takes the bait there is a slew of weapons used; malware, keyboard loggers and more sophisticated devices. If the victim then accesses his employers computing resources, he or she has just opened the organization to a cyber attack.

The company’s soon to be released pistol, the Stryk B, has been re-designated as the Archon Firearms Type B.
According to Archon Firearms CEO, Adrian Chavez, “Although we are confident in our legal right to the previous name, we’ve chosen to rebrand to avoid a potentially lengthy delay in the launch of our Type B pistol. Unfortunately, the rename does require manufacturing new slides with updated markings, as well as the reissue of an ATF-required marking variance, so some delay is inevitable and we now expect to launch in late Spring.

This will be our last shoot the shit for 2017 and I’d like to talk with you about President Trump’s tax legislation; because, it is widely misrepresented by a media and political party that are utterly clueless.
The Presidents economic strategy is a three legged stool. One leg addresses needless regulations(work in progress), the second leg is tax policy (done) and the third leg is the renegotiation of trade agreements (work in progress). All of these are Trump priorities for the economy. Let’s talk tax policy.
You’ve undoubtedly heard allegations that the new tax legislation only benefits the rich, this is a half-truth, but right off the bat I’d like to find out how many of you are employed or have been employed by poor people? I’ve never been! So, I want the rich to do well, and to be incentivized to start new businesses or expand existing businesses.
So, what are the goals of the new tax legislation?
There are several important components. First it lowers the marginal tax rate for businesses to 21%; this alone will add to a company’s after tax revenues and you’ve already seen what it did for the stock market; however, this rate reduction benefits privately held corporations equally well. The second component of the new business tax policy is a provision that allows capital investment to be deducted, dollar for dollar, from current period revenues. Here’s the effect of just that provision.
Widgets Inc. wants to reduce production costs and increase its output of widgets. They determine that the new Turbo Widget Machines will allow them to reduce production costs and produce a greater number of widgets per production run. The Turbo Widget Machine costs $200,000 and under the new tax legislation, Widgets Inc. can deduct the entire $200,000 from its current period income. This creates a huge incentive for businesses to make plant and equipment investments.
Widgets Inc’s decision to purchase a Turbo Widget Machine results in a order being placed with Turbo Widget Inc., the machine’s manufacturer. They in turn buy parts, possibly upgrade their own plant equipment and hire production personnel to fill the new orders booked. This effect is compounded across the national economy adding to GDP, employment and individual incomes.
Last but not least, the tax plan reduces individual tax rates and increases standard deductions. This means more money in the hands of individuals to drive consumption.
So what’s the beef? State and local tax deductibility has been limited to $10,000 and that means that higher income individuals living in states with high state and local taxes may not be able to deduct the full amount of those taxes on their federal returns. So, let’s talk about this just a little.
So, don’t believe too much of the stuff you hear in the media, 2018 will be a great year for individuals and businesses with the only risk being an unlikely broad economic downturn in the EU.
