For 2018 Walther Arms introduced a 9mm subcompact pistol designated PPS M2, and along with that offering, the company included a limited quantity of the PPS M2 equipped with the British RMS Shield red dot sight. In doing so, Walther created a tremendous value proposition. If you are fortunate enough to find one, you not only get the customary Walther quality and ergonomics but you also have an already machine slide and a quality red dot sight. (June 2018) – Big Horn Armory, makers of big-bore firearms, introduced their latest big bore gun in a completely different platform from their other models earlier this year: the AR platform. The Big Horn Armory AR500 in 500 Auto Max is available to big game hunters, big bore aficionados and law enforcement.

The gas operated AR500 was designed and produced by Big Horn Armory in the USA and is based on a DPMS style AR 308. The lightweight aluminum receiver features grooves cut into the front of the mag well for a confident grip and additional grooves in the front of the trigger to allow a finger rest while not firing. All steel parts have been salt-bath nitrite finished for corrosion resistance.

“All we do at Big Horn Armory is design and make big bore guns,” Greg Buchel, president of Big Horn Armory, said. “Using the 500 S&W magnum cartridge as our springboard, we wanted to bring back the concept of hunting using big bore cartridges for the simple reason it puts game down immediately, regardless of the bullet’s construction or speed. The 500 Auto Max was developed by Big Horn Armory using a 500 S&W rimless straight walled casing. With a variety of loads available, the 500 Auto Max can exceed 4,000 FPE easily, making it the choice for Dangerous Game, world-wide.

The AR500’s precision machined stainless steel barrels are surface hardened to Rc82 with Big Horn Armory’s Nitride process for consistent downrange performance and in-the-field dependability. The 18-inch barrel is threaded at a ¾-inch x 28 TPI, standard for most 50 caliber muzzle devices and ships with a standard flash suppressor.

Big Horn Armory’s 500 Auto Max is a rimless version of the 500 S&W with the same ballistics. It is capable of feeding and firing any .500 diameter bullet between 200 and 700 grains. The AR500 has an adjustable gas block to allow the user to run sub sonic loads using a suppressor. 500 Auto Max ammunition is currently shipping from Buffalo Bore and Underwood Ammo. OTIS TECHNOLOGY ANNOUNCES CEO APPOINTMENT

Lyons Falls, NY: In a company meeting yesterday, the Board of Advisors of Otis Technology announced to its employees that Larry Williams will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer, effective July 9, 2018.
Otis Technology was founded 33 years ago by the Williams family and has grown to be the premier brand of gun cleaning equipment and related accessories for the U.S. Military, Law Enforcement, and sport shooters worldwide.  Larry has been an integral part of the company for over 20 years.  He led the operations function for many years, working diligently to push the envelope when it came to operational excellence.  He was the driving force for shifting the Otis culture to that of a lean organization.
In 2013, Mr. Williams assumed a role on the Advisory Board among his siblings where his focus became more strategic in nature and mentored a team of senior managers, including current CEO Leonard Puzzuoli, to carry out strategic initiatives.  He continued to take on special projects within various departments, helping them achieve efficiency, cost savings, growth or other key objectives.

ATTENTION: CAL Production

We have had a series of challenges with the CAL bipod.  In part, as targets are being shot at increasingly longer distances, today’s end user expectations from a bipod are increasing. Rightfully so. As such, we’ve decided to address a design element that should better address these expectations. We have stopped production and stopped shipping CAL bipods as of today June 15, 2018.  I suspect 15 – 20% of all CAL bipod users will appreciate what we are doing, but as we cannot determine who will be doing what, with our gear, we are going to satisfy that minority KNOWING the majority will be getting a better product.

We apologize for any trouble this may cause anyone and sincerely appreciate your patience.

To be clear, there is no concern about using the CALs that you own. They will safely function as designed. We are simply improving it.

We will announce when we are in production of the CAL Gen 2, as well as, the upgrade we will make available to those that own a current CAL Gen 1 and want the upgrade.

Not only will the production models include new and improved versions of the already known AA-12 in a full auto configuration for military and law enforcement, it will now include a never before seen, 100% legal semi-automatic version for the civilian market. The newly available AA-12 represents significant improvement over past production techniques, including improved design elements, and  is now available at a significantly more consumer friendly price point.

In order to stay compliant we are going to target Android 8.0. As part of the new compliance, we have been notified to cut off anything prior to Android 5.0. This means if you are operating on Android 4.4.4 or any other 4.X – 2.X you may experience problems, or not be able to use the app. One of the major portions of this updating process address security flaws of older Android Operating Systems.

Guys, the week just flew by with that Memorial Day Holiday, and I hope you all had a safe, relaxing and uneventful Memorial Day. We got rained out but it was great just the same.

So, it’s Friday and time for our weekly shoot the shit. This is a social event where anyone is free to participate. What’s great about a shoot the shit is that you don’t need to know anything about the topic. You can make any unsupported statements, use profanity, insult anyone you wish or change the subject altogether.

The other benefit of our shoot the shit is that it’s a non-billable  event. Unlike a mental health professional, who you would need to pay $150+ per hour, our shoot the shits cost you nothing. Why would you pay some jackass who studied behavioral sciences so they could understand themselves that kind of money?

This week’s topic on prophylactics should prove to be interesting and informative ; a topic that gets glanced over all too often when it deserves considerable attention.

Younger readers won’t remember the Dixie Lilly and La Vita brands of condoms. These products had more rubber than Humvee tires thus eliminating sensation for both parties or perhaps multiple parties. Then came the lambskins and a variety of products that were “ribbed for her pleasure.” This ribbing business had to be a derivative from the Benny Boys in the Philippines who  pierced their apparatus and installed gold chains to excite their male partners.

Readers, those products will be discussed by the cultural anthropologists of future generations; however, those days are gone and today we see Japan and China going toe-to-toe competing for the thinnest walled prophylactics on the market.

National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA) Releases the Spring Edition of The Tactical Edge

The complete professional journal of the law enforcement special operations community is now available to members of the NTOA.

Retired Sergeant Major Sirois’ SIWI design is part of CRKT’s Forged by War Program. Credit also goes to a well know bladesmith Chris Williams for tweaks to Darrin Sirois’s original creation. The collaboration gave rise to one of the best tactical fixed blades anywhere. Catch my review!

SOFIC 2018 ISOF ASSAULT ON TERRORIST CAMP TO RESCUE TAMPA’S MAYOR

Every other year, USSOCOM and its ISOF partners put on a capabilities demonstration for attendees at the Special Operations Forces Industry Conference (SOFIC), The 2018 demonstration was excellent and this video captures just one phase of the demonstration.

Bob Buckhorn, Tampa’s Mayor, is taken hostage by a group of terrorists. He was taken to a small ship sitting just off the coast. Worried that a rescue might be attempted, the terrorists move Mayor Buckhorn to their camp. Once the mayor was located, members of the International Special Operations Forces, mount an assault to rescue Tampa’s Mayor.
