Casey Cook was born in a family of hunters. She started hunting at an early age with her father. Keen has been shooting since she was 15 years old. Her first gun was a pink camo .22 that she later gave to a friend’s daughter to learn gun safety and how to shoot. Her favorite gun to shoot is a 6.5 Grendel.

As a limited edition piece, only 500 production models of the 25th Anniversary K9 will be made. They will each be engraved with their number in the series of 500. This commemorative 1911 is officially endorsed by the family of Jeff Cooper, and was designed in collaboration with them to render, as authentically as possible, what Jeff Cooper himself desired in a 1911. Choate Machine and Tool Introduces the Choate Modular Stock, a Modular Chassis System For Remington Pattern Bolt Action Rifles

Bald Knob, AR – Choate Machine and Tool, a market leading designer, manufacturer and OEM supplier of rifle stocks, shotgun magazine extensions and firearms accessories, has introduced The Choate Modular Stock (C. Mod) chassis system. This is a true modular rifle stock, allowing the user to change the forend or butt stock without removing the rifle action from the main chassis section. This modularity provides the ultimate in adaptability and versatility while not disturbing the critical action-to-stock fit so reconfirming zero is unnecessary after configuring the system as needed.

The heart of the C. Mod rifle stock system is the precision CNC machined chassis. Made from a solid block of aluminum, the chassis rigidly holds the action while the desired butt stock and forend can be changed as needed. The chassis uses the time-tested AR style magazine release. This eliminates accidentally dropping the magazine by hitting a release lever located in front of the trigger guard. The C Mod. magazine will accept cartridges up to 2.860 inches in length such as the 308 Winchester, 6.5 Creedmoor and 260 Remington, as well as other popular cartridges like 6mm Remington, 257 Roberts and 7X57 Mauser. Each C. Mod chassis comes with two magazines and the required action screws.

The ultimate in versatility is provided by the C. Mod Stock system of optional forends and butt stocks. Forends include a target/varmint style forend with a wide, flat bottom and a sniper/tactical style forend that is shorter and slightly tapered toward the muzzle end. Both come with a T-rail and bipod adapter. Butt stocks included two conventional types including a basic tactical style, a fully customizable target/tactical style with adjustable check piece and length-of-pull. Choate also offers two very specialized butt stocks for the C. Mod Rifle Stock including a telescoping AR style butt stock (compatible with any AR butt stock) and a pistol grip folding stock for the ultimate in portability. All butt stocks and forends come with the required hardware for rock solid installation.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Dark Gulag 2 is designed to provide students with a full spectrum experience.  TNVC and BAT DEFENSE have once again partnered to provide an incredibly unique training class at the Counter Terrorism Advance Training Center in Immokalee, Florida.  A former maximum security prison, CTATC is a world class tactical training center, that provides an all-inclusive / NTOA-Approved training venue unlike any other.  On-site lodging is available.

NIGHT 1: INTRODUCTIONS AND CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION

Students will learn about the basics of night vision and nighttime operations.  Gear will be discussed and evaluated to ensure everyone is prepared for the high tempo class over the next several days.  Helmet, Headset, NVG, and Mount can be provided on first-come/first-serve basis.

DAY/NIGHT 2: SQUARE RANGE LIVE FIRE

Starting in the morning, students will undergo intense live fire training in carbine and pistol.  Drills will include shooting from static, barricaded, and moving positions.  Training will continue into the night with more live fire with NVG’s and will culminate in movement drills.

DAY/NIGHT 3: SHOOT HOUSE CQB

Students will undergo training and practice basic room clearing techniques with UTM training munitions in a force-on-target environment.  Approach, breach, entry, and room reduction procedures will be covered.  Students will shoot/move/communicate in small teams.  Training will continue into the night where application of white light and night vision will occur.

DAY/NIGHT 4: AERIAL TARGET INTERDICTION

Students will undergo classroom instruction and helicopter ground school drills before taking to the sky, sitting outside an MH500 Little Bird helicopter.  Students will complete several gun runs on static targets.  Training will continue into the night where students will engage targets from the sky while using night vision goggles and lasers.

PREREQUISITES:

All students must be Legal U.S. Citizens.  Proof of citizenship is required to train.  Students must have basic tactical weapons handling skills and be able to provide proof of successful completion of previous tactical weapons instruction courses from vetted / reputable trainers or show Military / LE credentials.

THIS IS NOT A BASIC BEGINNER CLASS.  STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO BE PROFICIENT IN THE OPERATION OF THEIR WEAPON SYSTEMS. Safety is paramount in all firearms training – especially at night.  Students will be expected to follow instruction.  Failure to do so, leading to unsafe conditions, will result in immediate dismissal from class and forfeiture of tuition without reimbursement.

NAPED and NAUMD Annual Conference and Exhibition was held in New Orleans, April 7 – 9, 2019.

New Bern, N.C. (April 2019) – The National Association of Police Equipment Distributors(NAPED) and North American Association of Uniform Manufacturers and Distributors(NAUMD) Conference and Exhibitions drew over 367 distributors, exhibitors and attendees to the Hyatt Regency, April 7 – 9, for their annual meeting.

The event featured over 80 exhibitors in the uniform and public safety equipment sector. Local law enforcement also attended the exhibits, increasing the opportunities for exhibitors to meet new customers. The combined conference was a sell out in both booth space and attendees.

The Naroh N1, a 9mm pocket pistol, is the first fully developed in-house firearm project from the company. Naroh’s pocket gun is double-action only (DAO) with an internal drop safety, and best of all, no trigger pull is required to disassemble. The N1 will have two finish options available when it launches at NRAAM – both options will feature Naroh’s signature red trigger and black polymer grip module, standard. The first finish option will be black FNC coating on the slide and barrel, while the second is a sleek silver stainless slide. MSRP for the N1 will be $399 and $410, respectively.

You guessed it, it’s Friday and time to wind up a busy week to prep for Easter weekend. Hopefully, your time won’t be consumed by household choirs and you’ll have time to enjoy your Easter. It’s also time for our weekly shoot the shit. Given the week’s events, we all need it, even if it happens to be Good Friday.

New readers may wonder what a shoot the shit is, I’ll explain. Rather than spending $150+ per hour so you can share your thoughts and feelings with a jackass who studied psychology so they could understand themselves, the shoot the shit accomplishes the same thing with superior efficacy.

In a shoot the shit, the participant does not need to know anything about the subjects being discussed, they can make any unsupported comment or claim, use uncensored profanity, insult anyone they wish or change the subject altogether. They work great with office coworkers, buds and family members, so give it a try. If you can’t get your own shoot the shit going, join ours. It’s free and we love the interaction. So here we go.

Is everyone up to speed on the Notre-Dame fire in Paris? This 800 year old Parisian landmark is an extraordinary piece of world history, and on its own, it stands as a scepter for hundreds of years of history. The fire is believed to have been caused by a short circuit in electrical wiring in the cathedral’s attic. The current estimate to reconstruct Notre-Dame is 8€ billion. The French government has committed to rebuild the cathedral in five years. Notre-Dame accounts for the lion’s share of tourism in Paris’4th arrondissement so it’s a huge financial hit.

I have to complement the 400 French pompadours for minimizing the fire damage and mitigating the risk of fire to the surrounding buildings. It was tragic to watch such an extraordinary site succumb to flames.

Democratic U.S. Presidential candidate, Pete Buttigieg , decided to deliver his heartfelt sorrow for the Notre-Dame fire in French to impress the audience with his language skills.

Pete has really disappointed me when he attacked Vice President Pence and his faith because he believes that marriage should be between a man and a woman. What Pete attempted to do is assail VP Pence’s faith and core beliefs, not from a policy position, but by placing his faith and spirituality above Vice President Pence. Lack luster at best! I would love to know if Pete’s Christianity acknowledges the bible as the word of God, and what his thoughts are on Leviticus 20.

My read on Pete Buttigieg is that he is an academic at heart. Both of his parents are professors and his studies are consistent with academic aspirations. If any of you have ever had interactions with academics you’ve experienced that when they schedule meetings to address challenges, the first and second meetings are spent establishing each other’s credentials, which is quite likely what Pete was trying to do during his French discourse.

Pete Buttigieg was a reeeeeeeezzzzerv Naval Intelligence Officer, achieving the rank of Lieutenant. Lt. Buttigieg was in Afghanistan for a whopping 7 months during which time he probably spent the majority of his time approving leave chits and fighting his way to the officer’s mess; irrespective of that we thank him for his service.

If you look at his career you’ll note short periods of various activities all leading to his political pursuits. It seems fairly clear to me that Pete Buttigieg was designing a resume, but along that route did he create something of value. I’ve seen nothing to that effect but I’m open to any correction to that position.

Pete is a well educated individual, but readers I would rather sit through a looped TAKL APP commercial than listen to a Buttigieg rally.

Being the first openly gay President is appealing, especially to the Entertainment Industry, and I personally believe that sexual orientation is not a qualifier or disqualifier for Presidential Office, but if he’s elected, I sure as hell hope Pete Buttigieg won’t turn the place into La Cage aux Folles 2 – La Maison Blanche.

What the hell is a Glock 47 say you?

U.S Customs and Border Protection awarded Glock Inc. an $85 million contract to supply G19, G26 and G47 pistols, but has anyone seen a G47. Is it a Big Foot story? Not even! The Glock 47 was specifically developed for DHS CBP. Huh? Not only that but it will not be available commercially!

The G47 is assembled with a full length slide on a G45 frame with a flared magazine well. Note that a G17 slide will not fit the G47 although they are the same length. We’ll be keeping an eye out for any new insights, including why it won’t be commercially available.

Library Update 815 is already live, and with it comes some changes to the information provided to you. Here is a list of what you can expect moving forward:

  • We have modified the Complete Bullet Library PDF to be more user friendly. This includes indicating how many of each type of bullet is in the library. This also includes indicators for how many of each manufacturers bullets are in the library and markers indicating which bullets are new.
  • We have resolved the “error – no error” message some users experienced.
  • Android and iOS in app purchases for the standard apps have been synchronized to ensure both systems see the library updates at the same time.
    • iOS users – Please note it can take up to 96 hours for Apple to process and distribute the CDMs to all users.

Brownells Adds BRN-180S™: Short-Barreled Version of BRN-180™

GRINNELL, Iowa (April 17, 2019) – Hot on the heels of one its most-exciting SHOT Show launches ever, Brownells has unveiled the BRN-180S – the new, short-barreled version of the BRN-180 complete upper assembly debuted at the 2019 SHOT Show.

Designed in conjunction with Primary Weapons Systems and FM Products, the BRN-180S retains all the desirable features of its big brother, but has a  10.5″ barrel for those wishing to build an AR-180-style pistol, or –with the required ATF paperwork and tax stamp – a short-barreled rifle (SBR).

Another new feature on the BRN-180S is a clearly-marked adjustable gas system, allowing the user to quickly tune the upper for either unsuppressed or suppressed shooting.

“The reaction to our 2019 SHOT Show announcement of the original BRN-180 was one of the largest, most-positive we’ve seen,” said Brownells Director of Product Management Paul Levy. “The most-common request from customers was for us to come out with a short-barreled version of the BRN-180. Thanks to PWS and FM Products, we were able to do that.”

Available for pre-orders now, the BRN-180S will make its first public appearance at the 2019 NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits April 26-28, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Built around a short-stroke piston system, the BRN-180S drops onto any mil-spec AR-15 lower and makes it easy to attach either a folding pistol brace or folding stock.

Just like the BRN-180, the BRN-180S can be fired while folded.

The MicroRDS Kit includes a patent-pending dovetail adapter with a quick release mechanism that allows mounting and dismounting the MicroRDS on the gun with a click of a finger. The adapter includes high-quality Meprolight Night Sights that allow accurate and fast shooting under any lighting conditions when the MicroRDS Optic is removed.

Varmint hunters require sights that allow them to detect targets in total darkness and Meprolight has them covered too with the MEPRO NYX-200, a multispectral dual-channel thermal weapon sight. This robust sight is available in several configurations, all providing a high-resolution thermal channel with 640×480 microbolometer core and a 17µ pixel size. It also provides a sensitive camera channel featuring a 1280×640 microbolometer core low-light or day camera. It can quickly be changed from hand-held to weapons mount and vice versa.

For professionals requiring a multi-purpose sight capable of day/night integration and fast transition between long range and CQC situations, the MEPRO MOR PRO reflex sight with two laser pointers (visible and IR) will become their go-to sight. The passive reflex is self-illuminated for any time use and the active reflex offers an extra bright LED dot for special lighting circumstances. Red or green laser pointers for urban or close quarter scenarios can easily be activated. An IR laser pointer for covert operations gives the user the ultimate advantage. The MEPRO MOR PRO’s combined zeroing system co-aligns the aiming pattern and the two laser pointers into a single zeroing procedure, saving time and increasing accuracy.

NSSF, BJA Unveil New Videos on Firearms Safety

“Many Paths to Firearm Safety” Series Focuses on Gun Owners’ Responsibilities

NEWTOWN, Conn., and WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®) and the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) today unveiled a new video series, “Many Paths to Firearm Safety,” to help new and potential gun owners understand the responsibilities they have if they decide to keep a firearm in their home.

The series reflects that more Americans — especially women — are buying guns for many different reasons, ranging from personal protection to recreational shooting. The central message is that while there are many different reasons why someone would choose to buy a gun, the common thread among them must be a commitment to store firearms responsibly when not in use so they can’t be picked up by a child, stolen or accessed by someone who may want to harm themselves.

“Firearms accidents and thefts are almost always preventable, and the key to preventing them is safeguarding the access key itself. Protecting and securing the means for accessing locked firearms is critical to their safe storage,” said BJA Director Jon Adler. “We want to push that message as much as possible. These new videos emphasize the importance of securing firearms safely in the home. We want to ensure that personally owned firearms are only accessible by their law-abiding, legal owners, and not by unsupervised children, criminals or persons who might harm themselves. The key is the ‘key’ to keeping firearms safely in the hands of those responsible for them!”

The videos portray three different gun owners and their stories of ownership, along with the steps they took to make sure they will handle and store their firearms safely when not in use. The portrayals of “Whitney,” “David” and “Mateo” are meant to be relatable to the majority of gun owners, whether they grew up with firearms or they are considering buying their first gun.

“Gun ownership and personal responsibility are inseparable, as our mantra, ‘Own It? Respect It. Secure It®.’ reinforces,” said NSSF CEO Steve Sanetti. “We want to make sure all gun owners understand that, and know we have the resources they need to help them store their firearms responsibly when not in use. For anyone who can’t or won’t take that responsibility, we strongly urge them not to own a firearm.”

The new videos are viewable online on the Project ChildSafe website.

Funding for the videos comes from a $2.4 million grant BJA awarded NSSF’s Project ChildSafe initiative in 2015. Project ChildSafe provides firearms safety education messaging and free gun locks to communities throughout the country in an effort to help reduce firearms accidents, theft and misuse.
