Pilgrim Ammo’s new line of self-defense projectiles specifications are made public in advance of the product launch.

USA (October 2019) – Pilgrim Ammunition, a new disrupter in the ammunition market, is responding to social media consumer requests for more information regarding their highly anticipated line of self-defense ammunition to be launched in Q4 of 2019.

The new line of ammo demonstrates multiple key benefits for consumers and law enforcement. The primary benefit of Pilgrim Ammunition is its stopping power. Most of the traditional handgun ammunition on the market does not dissipate its energy upon entering a soft tissue target, but tends to over-penetrate, thus making it more likely to strike bystanders. For new shooters, and individuals with sensitivity to recoil, the Pilgrim Ammunition line-up reduces issues, such as flinch, by making the experience more comfortable. Another valuable benefit is the reduced weight of the cartridges. The innovator behind Pilgrim Ammunition is ballistics expert P.J. Marx, along with international investors with Spec Ops backgrounds. Pilgrim Ammunition will develop and produce ammunition of the highest quality using premium components at their US-based facility. Marx is an innovator and inventor with over 10 patents to his name in the musical equipment and ballistics industry. (October 2019) – MasterPiece Arms (MPA), manufacturers of the MPA BA Rifles and Chassis Systems, is pleased to announce it has added two new calibers, the .223 and 6.5 PRC, to its popular MPA BA Precision Match Rifle (PMR) Competition Rifle. This rifle is designed specifically for the Production Class requirements of the Precision Rifle Series (PRS) and has been approved for use within this division. It includes many competition-related features while staying under the $2,000 price limit for this class. It is available in either a Black or Tungsten Cerakote® finish.

The MPA BA PMR Competition Rifle utilizes the MPA BA Hybrid Chassis, which is machined on MPA’s CNC Horizontal Machining Centers to exacting tolerances from 6061 aluminum. The v-bedding system provides additional clearance for glass bedding action and straight section of the barrel. The chassis also includes a built-in inclinometer, thumb notch, lower mounted Picatinny Rail, 20 MOA Scope Rail, A2 Style Pistol Grip and is R.A.T. System compatible. The MPA Buttstock comes with an adjustable cheek riser and length of pull that is locked in position with a series of set screws that are embedded into the buttstock body. This is the same system MPA uses on its Standard BA Chassis but without the thumb wheels.

The MPA BA PMR Competition Rifle includes an X-Caliber hand lapped 416R Stainless Premium Barrel Blank with a polished barrel finish. The chamber is indicated within 0.0001” or less to the bore of the rifle.

EAGLEVILLE, PA, October 8, 2019 – Streamlight® Inc., a leading provider of high-performance lighting equipment, donated $752,300 and 15,000 research hours over 11 years to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation® (BCRF), a not-for-profit organization seeking to prevent and cure breast cancer. Each October, Streamlight proudly recognizes Breast Cancer Awareness Month, donating proceeds from its pink line of lights to BCRF.

In 2018/2019, Streamlight donated $27,000 in sales proceeds to BCRF from the pink Nano Light® key chain light, the pink Siege® AA ultra-compact lantern, and the pink Strion® LED tactical light. For each of the lights, Streamlight donates $1.00, $2.00, and $5.00, respectively. 

Over the years, a number of Streamlight employees have been affected by breast cancer. Given the tight-knit company culture, Streamlight’s management wanted to contribute in some way to finding new treatments for the disease. In 2008, the company’s management decided to create a line of pink flashlights and donate the proceeds to BCRF.

The Vigil 1911 Series From Dan Wesson Lighter-Weight and More Affordable

Kansas City, KS (October 7, 2019) – A more affordable entry into the Dan Wesson lineup of high-quality semi-automatics, the Vigil Series 1911 pistols are built around a forged aluminum frame with a stainless-steel slide. The round-top slide sports a tritium night sight on the front and a serrated tactical rear sight. The front strap is checkered at 25 lines per inch, as is the rear strap, and the Vigil’s feature a rounded butt for comfortable carry.

The aluminum frame is a real weight saver, too, shaving off approximately six ounces in the Vigil Government-size compared to standard Government-size 1911s. All Vigil 1911’s are made from premium components and feature a beveled magazine well, carry bevel treatment, undercut trigger guards, and hand-polished flats. The Dan Wesson triggers are crisp and creep-free and are set at 3.5 to 5 pounds.  Each pistol comes with two magazines.

In addition to the government model with a five-inch barrel, Dan Wesson offers these Vigil options:

  • The Vigil Suppressor-Ready variant, a Government-sized 1911 with an extended, threaded barrel and high sights with a tritium front.
  • The Vigil Commander with a 4.25-inch barrel, and the same features as the Government-size Vigil. This shorter Commander drops a couple-ounces, making it a mid-sized pistol that is easier to carry on-body all day yet remains very accurate.
  • The Vigil CCO model, combining a sub-compact Officer frame with a compact Commander slide and barrel. Ideal for concealed carry, it is very light yet retains the sight radius of a Commander model, making it very shootable.

NEWTOWN, Conn. — The National Shooting Sports Foundation®(NSSF®) today unveiled a new podcast series, “The Gun Industry Speaks,” to help inform the national conversation on firearms.

“Our goal is to have a frank and ongoing conversation that addresses some of the major concerns about guns in America,” said Joe Bartozzi, NSSF’s President. “It’s important to highlight what is already being done by law, policy and industry action to help keep guns out of the wrong hands. This series will explore the pros and cons of some of the potential solutions being discussed today.”

NSSF developed the series in part as a response to the lack of information being shared by the media regarding the industry’s perspective on everything from background checks and trends in gun crime to suicide prevention and bans on certain types of firearms. The podcast is also meant to articulate the industry’s position that it is possible to enhance public safety and protect Americans’ rights simultaneously.

The program is hosted by Elizabeth McGuigan, NSSF’s Director of Legislative and Policy Research. The first three episodes, covering NSSF’s gun safety and crime prevention programs, background checks, and gun store security, are live now. New episodes will be added in the coming weeks, covering subjects such as bans on modern sporting rifles and so-called “high-capacity” magazines, Smart Guns, NSSF’s Project ChildSafe® Program, Firearms and suicide prevention, and the current laws in place that are meant to keep guns out of the hands of criminals.

“We do share the concerns of all Americans, and while there may not be agreement on some ideas, discussions like this are needed, because the national conversation around guns is too often a shouting match, and that is a disservice to everyone,” Bartozzi says. “No one wants crime or gun accidents to occur, and everyone is looking for meaningful solutions. Our hope with this podcast is to get us all closer to that goal.”

Grand Teton, Wyo. – Today, First Lady of the United States Melania Trump and U.S. Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt joined second and fourth graders in Grand Teton National Park for a field trip highlighting the importance of the Every Kid Outdoors Program.

“This trip highlighted some of the beautiful national parks, lands, and waters that make up our country,” said First Lady Melania Trump. “Spending time outdoors with children and learning more about our incredible and complex surroundings was a very meaningful experience for me. I want to thank the people of Wyoming for making me feel so welcomed. I also want to thank the many dedicated organizations including Jackson District Boy Scouts and the National Park Service for all they do in protecting and taking care of our national parks.”

“Grand Teton National Park and the Department of the Interior were honored to have the First Lady visit today. America’s National Parks and public lands provide great opportunities for children to explore, investigate and learn,” said Secretary Bernhardt. “The First Lady’s advocacy for children to ‘Be Best’ is right on the mark! The Every Kid Outdoors program, which was signed into law by President Trump, is also a great way for fourth grade students to expand their horizons and be their best selves by experiencing the wonder of public lands. I am hopeful that fourth grade students, their parents and their educators take full advantage of the Every Kid Outdoors Program.”

Every Kid Outdoors is an interagency collaboration between the Department of the Interior, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and U.S. Forest Service that provides fourth graders with free access to explore, learn, and recreate in spectacular settings, including national parks, wildlife refuges, marine sanctuaries, and forests.

Fourth grade students can get a free annual pass to visit more than 2,000 federal recreation areas with their families, classmates, and friends. To obtain the free pass, fourth grade students visit the Every Kid Outdoors website, participate in a short educational activity, and download a voucher. The voucher is valid for multiple use between Sept. 1, 2019 and Aug. 31, 2020 to correspond to the traditional school year. The voucher may be exchanged for a keepsake pass at participating federal lands.

The bipartisan John D. Dingell, Jr. Conservation, Management and Recreation Act, which was signed into law by President Trump on March 12, 2019, authorized funding for Every Kid Outdoors for the next seven years, which replaced the Every Kid in a Park program.

Every Kid Outdoors

The Every Kid Outdoors Program replaces the Every Kid in a Park Program. The program focuses on children 10 years of age—the age of most fourth graders—based on research that indicates children ages 9–11 are at a unique developmental stage in their learning where they begin to understand how the world around them works in more concrete ways and they are more receptive to engaging with nature and the environment. By focusing on this age group year after year, the program aims to ensure every child in the United States has the opportunity to visit their Federal lands and waters by the time he or she is 11 years old, thereby establishing a lifelong connection to enjoy and protect our American outdoor heritage.

Economic Impact of National Parks

National parks are great contributors to our nation’s economy; supporting a historically low unemployment rate of 3.6%, which is the lowest the unemployment rate has been since 1969.

According to the annual National Park Service report, 2018 National Park Visitor Spending Effects, more than 318 million visitors spent $20.2 billion in communities within 60 miles of a park in the National Park System. Of the 329,000 jobs supported by visitor spending, more than 268,000 jobs exist in the park gateway communities.

In 2018, visitors to Grand Teton National Park spent $629 million in communities near the park. That spending supported 8,620 jobs in the local area and had a cumulative benefit to the local economy of $792 million.

MasterPiece Arms (MPA) Unveils the MPA Matrix Chassis at the 2019 Precision Rifle Expo (PRE)

Comer, Ga. (October 2019) – MasterPiece Arms (MPA), manufacturers of the MPA BA Rifles and Chassis Systems, is constantly working to update and innovate its selection of products for the precision shooting market and is proud to introduce its most revolutionary chassis configuration yet: the MPA Matrix Chassis. Built upon MPA’s highly successful BA Chassis System, the MPA Matrix Chassis was debuted on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019 at the 2019 Precision Rifle Expo. With a multitude of configurations in grips, thumb rests and trigger finger supports, the primary interface between the shooter and the rifle (the grip) has over 100 different variations.

MPA has developed a hand measurement chart to help identify which grip configuration may work best for each individual shooter. Additionally, the location of the shooter’s hand, closer to the bore of the rifle, provides even more variation in how the shooter can set up the rifle. The MPA Matrix Chassis features five different grip options (three swept and two vertical), three different thumb rest designs and four different trigger finger supports. It also has M-LOK slots along the side of the chassis forend and barricade stop holes along the bottom of the forend. The forend of the chassis is the same length as the MPA ESR Chassis, making it two inches longer than the standard BA or BA Competition Chassis.

“One of the things that we have seen in precision rifle shooting over the past couple of years is how many different methods a shooter used to engage a stock or chassis. Due to variations in hand size, finger thickness and length, as well as shooter preference on how they want to engage the chassis or stock, we’ve seen a lot of inconsistencies amongst the shooters in how they engage the rifle and where they position the pad of the trigger finger with the shoe of the trigger. This inspired us to create a system that would provide a more custom fit procedure for our customers by creating a chassis with more customized configurations,” commented Phil Cashin, President of MasterPiece Arms.

The MPA Matrix Chassis is machined on MPA’s CNC Horizontal Machining Centers to exacting tolerances from 6061 aluminum. The MPA produced buttstock comes with an adjustable cheek riser and length of pull, recoil pad with height and cant adjustment, adjustable cheek riser and adjustable monopod (monopod replaced with bag rider on Competition Model). The v-bedding system provides additional clearance for glass bedding action and straight section of the barrel if desired.

I’m the only one here!

Here we are once more TGIF! I hope everyone had a great week. I’m burned out with this 24×7 impeachment crap! What these Democrats are trying to do is overthrow a duly elected President. I have yet to get an answer detailing what the President has done that merits impeachment. If you’re as sick of it as I am, you may be considering going to a therapist STOP! Have a shoot the shit instead. What’s a shoot the shit? It is a social interaction during which any topic can be discussed, participants don’t need to know anything about the subject in order to participate, make unsupported statements, use uncensored profanity, insult anyone the wish or change the subject altogether. So, let’s shoot the shit.

About a week ago, I reviewed what is without a doubt one of the most innovative training tools on the market the Mantis X10 Elite Shooting Performance System from Mantis, you can read it here. My review prompted a reader question, so I thought it would make a good shoot the shit topic.

One of the training scenarios Mantis includes in its menu of drills is a tactical reload with retention. The reader was unfamiliar with the concept of a tactical reload.

A tactical reload is performed during a lull in the engagement, with the anticipation of a continued engagement. Retention refers to keeping the partially spent magazine. In other words, it does not drop to the ground.

During a tactical reload, the shooter has a round chambered, and the magazine being replaced is not totally depleted so it’s  returned to the magazine carrier.

The key to a tactical reload is what the support hand does.

Step 1.  use your support had to extract a fresh magazine from its carrier. Take a look at how I’m holding the fresh magazine (i.e. between my index and middle finger. I want to keep my thumb available to extract the partially depleted magazine from the weapon’s magazine well. Also important to note is the magazine’s orientation. The bullet points up.

Step 2.  I depress the weapon’s magazine release and extract the partially depleted magazine by grasping it between the thumb and index finger. The full magazine is still being held between the index finger and middle finger. Immediately after extracting the partially spent magazine, insert the full magazine using your palm to ensure that it is properly seated in the magazine well.

Step 3. Return the partially spent magazine to your magazine carrier.  When practicing, use empty magazines, but if you’re working with live ammunition keep in mind that you still have a live round in your chamber. So, keep your finger off the trigger and the muzzle pointed in a safe direction.

Reach Way Out With Ballistic

Gainesville, GA (Oct. 2, 2019)- With hunting season here, you may be preparing for a long-distance shot. After all, you have a quality rifle and optic, and you use only the best hunting ammunition.

But are you using Ballistic to make the most out of your investment in hunting gear?

For hunting, it’s all about hitting the vital area of the animal to make a clean, ethical shot. So, of course, you need to know your bullet drop at specific distances. Some hunters prefer to write down these figures on paper and tape them to the stock of their rifle for quick reference in the field. Others will take their mobile device with Ballistic downloaded on it and reference it in the field.

Wind drift is a huge factor in making that clean shot, too. Even a slight breeze will push a bullet many inches off target at hundreds of yards.

With Ballistic, you can input wind speed and direction in a manner of ways. You can use angle inputs (e.g., 90° = crosswind left to right) for the wind direction or the O’clock format (e.g., 3:00 will automatically translate to 90°). Headwinds can be added in, too, and Ballistic will automatically adjust velocity to account for your headwind calculation.

Projectile velocity is another concern for the long-distance hunter. Many traditional hunting bullets were (and still are) made to expand at rather high velocities. Closer range shooting was the norm when these bullets were designed.

By Yard 500, for example, your bullet has slowed considerably versus its original muzzle velocity.  A traditional hunting bullet can hit the animal at 500 yards. However, bullet expansion may be little to none, resulting in a wounded animal.

Newer long-distance hunting rounds are designed to expand at a wider range of velocities. Usually, that information is found on the back of the ammunition box.Ballistic and your Bullet Profile can calculate the velocity of your projectile at various distances. Compare that to the ammunition maker’s recommendations of the velocity needed for bullet expansion.

Browning Puts the Crosshairs on Accuracy with the New X-Bolt Max Varmint/Target

NAUMD 2020 Conference and Expo Registration Now Open

The North American Association of Uniform Manufacturers & Distributors (NAUMD) and its Public Safety Suppliers & Retailers (PSSR) division announce registration is open for the annual networking conference and exhibits to be held April 26 – 28, 2020 at the Hyatt Regency, Reston, Virginia.

Omaha, Neb. (October 2019) – The North American Association of Uniform Manufacturers and Distributors (NAUMD) and its Public Safety Suppliers & Retailers (PSSR) division are pleased to announce registration has opened for the 2020 NAUMD Conference & Expo to be held April 26-28, 2020 at the Hyatt Regency in Reston, Virginia.

The event location is central to the United States seats of Government and Law Enforcement agencies, as well as just off the east coast artery of I-95, the main interstate highway running from Miami, Florida to the Houlton-Woodstock border crossing in New Brunswick, Canada. The location is central to government, government contractor companies, defense, high-tech, financial, hospitality and medical corporation headquarters.

“We are very excited to host our annual conference and expo on the doorstep of our nations’ capital,” Steve Zalkin, president of NAUMD said. “After the success of last year’s event in which we partnered with the National Association of Police Equipment Distributors (NAPED), thus increasing our membership’s opportunities to network and create new business relationships, while seeing and purchasing the latest products, we merged NAPED with NAUMD. Now, our membership is stronger than ever and we expect the 2020 event to be our biggest and best yet.”

The event includes exhibit space for manufacturers, break-out sessions for educational opportunities, networking opportunities including a golf tournament, receptions and the Awards Banquet. During the Awards Banquet, NAUMD announce the Image of the Year Awards, the Best Dressed Public Safety Awards, the Innovation Awards, the Lifetime Achievement Awards and the Rising Star Young Leader Awards. Chambered in 6.5mm Creedmoor, this rifle is designed for serious shooters. Advanced snipers love the lightweight for field use and the zero-sacrifice on stability for an incredible shooting platform. Shooters and hunters also find this rifle built to suit their unique needs.

The 6.5mm Creedmoor is growing in popularity as the ultimate big game round, and this entire system is a perfect match for big game hunters. Chasing elk and other mammals across difficult terrain requires a rifle that is not only easy to shoulder but also exceptionally durable. The steel barrel, perfectly machined components and the anodized finish mean the rifle will shoot consistently and flawlessly while withstanding the elements and hard use.

At a mere 6.85 pounds, the rifle is easy to shoulder, but that does nothing to limit the capabilities. The rail options make this a top-shelf choice, as complete customization is easily within reach of any XLR-20 owner. Two distinct Xanthos-lite rail options are available, both using the proprietary tension lock design to secure M-LOK railing with a corrosion-resistant anodized finish. Throw in the gas block, takedown pins and the X4 brake for a serious-looking, high performance out of the box rifle.

Available in both black and Kuiu camo finishes, the XLR-20 is slick looking for hunting, tactical use, and target practice. It’s a head-turner at the range that offers world-class performance.
