Streamlight Launches TLR-7 Sub Weapon Light

EAGLEVILLE, PA, January 19, 2021 – Streamlight^® Inc., a leading provider of high-performance lighting and weapon light/laser sighting devices, introduced the ultra-compact and low profile TLR-7^® sub, a weapon-mounted tactical light with an ergonomic on/off position rear switch. It is available to fit select GLOCK^®, SIG SAUER^®, Smith & Wesson^®, Beretta^®, Springfield Armory^®and Heckler & Koch^® railed subcompact handguns.

“The latest addition to our popular line of TLR-7 weapon lights is an extremely compact and low profile model that can be mounted on railed subcompact weapons,” said Streamlight President and Chief Executive Officer Ray Sharrah. “Like other models in the line, it has a high power LED that provides extreme brightness for maximizing visibility and targeting capability in personal defense and other tactical situations. And its rear switch on the left and right of the trigger guard allows for ambidextrous operation.”

The new light is available in three different models to fit the GLOCK^® 43X MOS/48 MOS and the GLOCK^® 43X RAIL/48 RAIL, with slim mounting rails; the SIG SAUER^® P365^® and the SIG SAUER^®P365^® XL; and select 1913 short railed subcompact handguns including the Smith & Wesson^® M&P^® M2.0™ Subcompact, Beretta^® PX4 Storm Compact/Subcompacts, Springfield Armory^® XD-E™, Springfield Armory^® XD-S^® and Heckler & Koch^® HK45 compacts.

The TLR-7 sub features an LED that delivers 5,000 candela and 500 lumens over a beam distance of 141 meters. Its custom TIR optic produces a concentrated beam that provides both extensive range as well as optimized peripheral coverage. It offers two lighting modes, LED only or LED strobe, each with a run time of 1.5 hours. The light is energized by a single 3 Volt CR123A lithium battery.

The new TLR-7 sub features a one-handed, snap on and tighten interface that keeps hands away from gun muzzles when attaching or detaching them. The light also includes a Safe Off feature, locking it so it cannot be turned on accidentally. Each model of the TLR-7 sub features a specialized clamp system for mounting to rails, using the provided key kit.

Constructed with 6000 Series machined aircraft aluminum with a black anodized finish, the TLR-7 sub weighs 2.39 ounces and measures 2.51 inches in length. It features an IPX7-rated design, making it waterproof to one meter for 30 minutes, as well as impact-resistant construction.

The TLR-7 sub has an MSRP of $225.75, and comes with Streamlight’s Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Innovative Forensic: Pecos Jane Doe Case Solved After 55 Years

In 1966, a young woman drowned in a motel swimming pool in Pecos, Texas. With the aid of Innovative Forensic’s investigative genetic genealogy team, the identity of Pecos Jane Doe has been found.

Emporia, Va. (January 2021) – Innovative Forensic, an investigative genetic genealogy firm providing services to law enforcement, announce the resolution to a 55-year-old cold case out of Pecos, Texas.

On July 5, 1966, a young couple checked in to the Ropers Motel in Pecos, Texas, under the names Mr. and Mrs. Russell Battuon. The young couple, a male around 25-years old with blond hair and a slight build and the female, a young woman between 17 and 20-years old with long dark hair and large dark eyes had been seen around the pool earlier that day by motel employees. Later in the afternoon, while the male was in the room asleep a motel maid found the female unresponsive in the motel swimming pool. She was pulled from the water and taken to Reeves Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her male companion awoke during the commotion and taking everything in the room, including any possible identification of the victims, checked out of the motel and left. Police were unable to identify the victim or locate her male companion. With no dental records available and no fingerprint records in the FBI’s CODIS database, the case went cold for 55-years.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reached out to Innovative Forensic, a Virginia-based investigative genetic genealogy firm, to help aid the Pecos Police Department put the missing pieces of the Pecos Jane Doe puzzle together, for once and for all. The identity of the victim was announced in a press conference held by the Pecos Police Department Chief Lisa Tarango on Jan. 19, 2021, at 2 p.m. (CST) on the department’s Facebook page. Chief Tarango identified the victim as Jolaine Hemmy of Salina, Kansas.

“Corporal Felix Salcido, the Pecos Police Department, and I, are so pleased to have been able to meet with the Hemmy family in person, and virtually, to deliver the news to them about their missing family member,” Chief Lisa Tarango of the Pecos Police Department commented. “Although, the meeting was obviously bitter sweet for this beautiful family, this does allow for a small comfort in knowing about where she had been located. The family have mourned their missing sister for almost 55 years and are so thankful to all the entities and people who assisted our department, through this part of the investigation, knowing without them this would not have been possible. The genetic genealogy investigative team with Innovative Forensics, fortified this investigation with their ongoing day by day efforts of investigation into every lead that was developed.”

CZ Shadow 2 OR Pistol Wins Ballistic’s Best Reader’s Choice Award

Iveco Defence Vehicles supplies 3rd generation GTF-8×8 trucks to the Bundeswehr

On January 2021 the German Bundeswehr – represented by BAAINBw (Federal Office of
Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support) – has awarded Iveco
Defence Vehicles a frame contract for the supply of up to 1.048 military Trakker trucks to be
delivered in 2021 – 2028.

The project will start with an initial fixed batch of 224 units of 8×8 vehicles from the Iveco
Defence militarized Trakker range, which will be supplied in five different configurations
prepared for 20” – ISO-container-transport, some with hydraulic cranes and winch systems, and
represents another new milestone and consequent next step in the GTF-family of the German
Army.

All vehicles fulfil the most modern EURO-6-emission-level (still ready for single-fuel-operation)
and will be supplied with a protected cab which currently offers among the best-in-class levels
of ballistic, mine, NBC- and IED protection. These cabs also provide the users with a high level
of crew comfort and are designed to accommodate a variety of modern military communication
and command systems.

Over the last years, Iveco Defence Vehicles has delivered around 2.000 vehicles from its wide
product range to the German Army, including protected customized versions (e.g. GTF 8×8
batch 1 and 2, TEP-90, STW-8×8, Tipper-8×8, Sideloader-8×8, ISO-container-transport-8×8 and
Tractor-6×6), which have already been extensively fielded in operational theatres.

The event took place in Paderborn, Germany, in November 2020, in front of representatives from the Bundeswehr and various partners and industries.

The Second Phase demonstration of the Transparent Battlefield study included live traffic from the Aeronautics Pegasus Drone, along with the Fire Weaver Sensor-to-Shooter system, all carried over the BNET advanced Software Defined Radio (BNET Hand-Held and BNET Vehicular). The demo was hosted by Atos Information GmbH, which acts as the prime contractor for the Transparent Battlefield Study, and included its C² software as an integral part of the demo.

BNET is a Spectrum-Aware SDR – utilizing the spectral arena of the battlefield to the fullest in a cognitive way, using Multi-frequency Channel Reception (MCR), which enables it to receive and analyze information from numerous frequency channels, simultaneously, using a single RF head.

Fire Weaver is a networked sensor to shooter system which provides the tactical forces with a GPS-independent geo-pixel-based tactical common language among all the sensors and shooters, providing optimal situational awareness and improved understanding of the battlefield. Fire Weaver uses Rafael’s advanced artificial intelligence algorithms, processes the battle data, analyzes it, and prioritizes fire allocation.

As was published in December 2019, Rafael has partnered with Atos Information GmbH on a project involving the creation of a program named “Transparent Battlefield”, in which unmanned aerial systems and combat vehicles are used to create a 3D picture of mobile operations in real-time. The work will be performed for the German Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support. Following the completion of the first and second phases, further phases are expected to take place in the coming years.

NSSF Applauds OCC Finalization of Fair Access Banking Rule

NEWTOWN, Conn. – The NSSF^®, the firearm industry’s trade association, applauded the finalization of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency’s (OCC) rule to end discrimination by financial service providers against the firearm industry and others. NSSF worked closely with the OCC, members of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate to ensure banking and credit decisions are based on credit worthiness and financial risk assessment for all legal businesses.

“NSSF has championed fair access to financial services for the firearm and ammunition industry and is pleased to witness the end of unfair and politically-motivated discriminatory practices by banking institutions that have a legal duty to service all legal businesses,” said Lawrence Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “This rule will ensure large financial institutions that are supported by taxpayer-funded resources like insurances must provide fair and equal access to services based on their objective financial creditworthiness, and not based on ‘woke’ political considerations.”

The finalized rule ensures fair access to banking services provided by large national banks, federal savings associations and federal branches and agencies of foreign bank organizations. It codifies more than a decade of OCC guidance stating that banks should provide access to services, capital, and credit based on the risk assessment of individual customers, rather than broad-based decisions affecting whole categories or classes of customers.

The finalized rule evens the playing field. It stops corporate banks from picking winners and losers based on executives’ personal politics. It protects banks from outside pressure from special interest groups seeking to use the banks as a political weapon. The rule enforces protections passed by Congress and signed into law with the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010.

NSSF knows this finalized rule was only possible through the leadership and diligent efforts of many. NSSF is especially grateful to Acting Comptroller of the Currency Brian P. Brooks, U.S. Sen. Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.), Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.), Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), U.S. Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.), Rep. Andy Barr (R-Ky.), Rep. Roger Williams (R-Texas) and Rep. HELLO 2021 !

It’s Friday and time to think about kicking off the weekend with our first shoot the shit of the year.

Christmas and the Holiday Season is now behind us and we march into 2021 hopeful that the challenges and stressors of 2020 are behind us. Really? Think again, 2021 has the makings of an equally difficult year. If it’s not the election results, it’s a group of people that overdosed on Red Dawn films or a Congress that is more interested in making the other party look bad than identifying, prioritizing, and working collaboratively to address the country’s needs. We have an economy that’s still sputtering and people are stretched to the limits. So, what was the priority? Impeaching Donald J Trump. The priority was to keep Trump from being able to run again. It’s enough to make run to your nearest therapist. Stop; instead, give Congressman Eric Swalwell a call and see if you can get Fang Fang’s phone number.

Folks, remember that a therapist is a jackass who majored is psychology so they could understand themselves. You don’t need to hand over $150 per hour when you can do it for free with a good shoot the shit. So, what is a shoot the shit?

It’s a social interaction during which any topic can be discussed; for example, If you think that VP-Elect Kamala Harris has a neck that looks like Mike Tobin’s (Fox News ), and that she got like that because Willie Brown was making her do neck bridges, you can talk about that. Participants in a shoot the shit don’t need to know anything about the topic, they are free to make any unsupported comment, use uncensured profanity, insult anyone they wish or change the subject altogether. So, forget social media and get a good shoot the shit going with your buds or family, you’ll be amazed at how effective it is.

What did you guys get for Christmas?

I got a Fix It Stix Scope Jack which has to be the coolest tool. The Scope Jack attaches to your rail directly underneath the flat part of your optic. Once installed, you elevate a steel jack and rotate the scope until it sits flat on the jack. Your scope reticle is now level. No more hanging plumb lines or bubble levels on your elevation turret. If your rifle is canted, no sweat. It’s only usable on railed platforms and if your reticles are canted from the factory then that’s a separate issue. I’ve used it a couple of times and it works like a champ.

I also got the customary clothing articles, cologne, etc.

If you think that ammunition availability will improve in 2021, think again. The scuttlebutt is signaling that not only will ammunition be hard to find, but if you find it will be 3%-15% higher in price. This may be an excellent opportunity for reloaders to start a small business or make a few bucks on the side. I haven’t seen .45ACP in months and I’m seeing 50 round boxes of 124 gr 9mm going for $69.99. I hope this will end soon but I’m not optimistic.

Let’s talk briefly about the political climate.

Folks, attacking the U.S. Capitol, or any other government building, is not the way to demonstrate your frustration. People were killed, one a 14 year female USAF veteran. This assault did nothing to help your cause; the only thing you succeeded in doing is getting a group of people who were there in peaceful protest designated domestic terrorists. We live in a country where, from our very beginnings, the Founding Fathers created the mechanism by which to express your disagreements without assaulting a government building.

Globally this situation was blamed on Donald Trump, I disagree with that. The burden falls on a Congress that has alienated the public in pursuit of agendas. Agendas not thoroughly analyzed and formulated by way of anal extraction. I guess that approach is easier than having to slug it out. Congress needs to sit down, grow up and not act like adolescents to address the needs of the country and its citizens. Globally we look like Jackasses! How the hell can you lead when you can’t sit down collectively and work through these challenges. And, for those in Congress that want to defund the police think carefully about where you would be were it not for the Capitol Police. It’s not just you that needs a well funded and functional police department. We have demonstrated to the world how completely inefficient our Democracy is, how utterly sad that is.

Arcturus UAV’s products include the JUMP-20, a multi-mission, medium endurance vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) system requiring no launch equipment or runway and the T-20, a multi-mission, medium endurance catapult-launched system. Arcturus UAV sells its products directly to end users and delivers COCO services. All Arcturus UAV systems have the ability to carry a broad range of payloads, including standard EO/IR gimbals as well as 3-D mapping, SAR, LIDAR, communications relay, COMINT and SIGINT payloads.

AeroVironment expects the acquisition to be immediately accretive to adjusted EBITDA, excluding deal and integration costs, and non-GAAP diluted earnings per share, excluding intangible assets, amortization expense and deal and integration costs, and accretive to GAAP diluted EPS in fiscal year 2022, while increasing pro forma net leverage to 0.5 times adjusted EBITDA.

Upon completion of the transaction, key members of the Arcturus UAV executive management team will remain in leadership positions. The transaction is expected to close during fourth quarter of AeroVironment’s fiscal year 2021, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. At close, Arcturus UAV will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of AeroVironment.

The purchase price represents a multiple of approximately 11x Arcturus UAV’s LTM 9/30/20 adjusted EBITDA, net of anticipated tax benefits. In connection with the acquisition, AeroVironment has received commitments for a $200 million Term Loan Facility and $100 million revolver (undrawn at close) with Bank of America, N.A. acting as Administrative Agent, and with BofA Securities, Inc., JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. and U.S. Bank National Association acting as arrangers. AeroVironment will fund approximately $155 million of the acquisition from cash on hand.

Austin Orgain took home the coveted PRS Golden Bullet award and is the first competition shooter to win both the Precision Rifle Series (PRS) Pro Series and the Armageddon Gear Cup Match (AG Cup).

Columbia Falls, Mont. (January 2021) –PROOF Research’s sponsored shooting team ended 2020 on a hot streak. Team member Austin Orgain won the Armageddon Gear Cup (AG Cup) Match at the end of Oct. 2020 and took home the Precision Rifle Series Pro Series Golden Bullet award for top honors in Dec. 2020. He won both competitions using a PROOF Research barrel.

The AG Cup is an invitational match at the 2,300-acre Arena Training Facility in Blakely, Georgia. The big-prize invitational match brought 20 of the most talented and top Precision Rifle Series and National Rifle League shooters to compete at each of the 20 stages and overall. Orgain took home the prize with a leading score of 92 points after a tough three days of competition.

Capping off his successful competition year, Orgain won the 2020 PRS Pro Series, Dec. 13, 2020, at Ninneka, Oklahoma. In addition to taking home the Gold Bullet award for the overall highest points, he also earned second place in the finale match.
