NSSF Launches New First Shots Introductory Course on Suppressors

SHELTON, Conn. — NSSF^®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, is pleased to announce the addition of a new First Shots^® introductory course on suppressors. The suppressor segment has surged in recent years and is primed for additional growth with the impending removal of the $200 tax stamp Jan. 1, 2026 — making it a valuable time to come on board as a First Shots host and help customers advance their shooting sports journey.

This new offering is ideal for ranges and retailers looking to enhance their educational offerings and further engage customers, while attracting new ones eager to participate in this category.

“Rising interest in suppressor ownership, coupled with the imminent removal of the $200 tax stamp, present a timely opportunity for First Shots partners to begin hosting these experiences in their communities,” said Zach Snow, NSSF Director, Member Development. “We developed this First Shots model to give ranges and retailers another tool to help increase customer engagement through a new educational offering.”

Through this First Shots experience, range and retail hosts will be equipped to discuss the history of suppressors, highlight their benefits, dispel myths and walk participants through the steps to ownership in the 42 U.S. states where legal. Students will gain knowledge through classroom instruction, followed by hands-on experience with live demonstrations.

Businesses interested in hosting these events will provide qualified instructors and staff with thorough suppressor knowledge, classroom access and range access for practical demonstrations. Hosts who elect to offer enhanced shooting range experiences for their students will supply the necessary equipment such as firearms, suppressors and additional ammunition.

To support First Shots hosts, NSSF will provide eye and ear protection, targets, ammunition packages for the range demo component and monetary support of $15 per participant, paid quarterly. Further, hosts will receive support through the First Shots Digital Resource Portal, which includes the presentation deck, email templates, promotional flyers and more. Scheduled events will also be promoted on LetsGoShooting.org and additional advertising support will be available.

“At the end of the day, we want this new course to help increase participation while guiding people down the path to suppressor ownership — giving them a general knowledge base to determine what type of suppressor suits their needs, how to use them safely, their benefits and how they can enhance the overall target shooting experience,” Snow said.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF^®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, proudly announces the 5^th Annual Governors’ Forum at SHOT Show^® 2026 is shaping up to host several state governors to discuss the importance of the firearm industry to their states, Second Amendment rights of their citizens and their insights to challenges and opportunities ahead for gun rights in the United States.

NSSF is hosting the Governors’ Forum, moderated by Shermichael Singleton, Co-host of Guns Out TV, American political strategist, writer and political commentator. Singleton will discuss the importance of the firearm industry to the governors’ respective states, the legislative landscape and what can and should be done to protect the industry from gun control special interests threatening the firearm and ammunition industry and Second Amendment rights. More governors may be added to the forum as schedules permit.

“These governors are the leading voices for protecting Second Amendment rights and the firearm and ammunition industry that provides the means for Americans to lawfully exercise those rights,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President & General Counsel. “NSSF’s Governors’ Forum provides a unique opportunity for SHOT Show attendees and industry media to hear directly from those governors. NSSF has regularly welcomed governors to SHOT Show, but the Governors’ Forum is a rare chance to hear directly about the issues and opportunities facing the firearm industry and Second Amendment freedoms to their states.”

NSSF’s Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade Show (SHOT Show), will take place at the Venetian Expo in Las Vegas from Jan. 20-23, 2026. NSSF will host the annual Governors’ Forum at SHOT Show on Wednesday, Jan. 21 from 1-2 p.m. at the Venetian Expo, Lido Room 3101A.

The Governors’ Forum is open to all SHOT Show attendees and media. Those interested in attending should register here to save their spot.

Below is a list of previous announced moves to relocate firearm business headquarters and expand production to new states:

Alabama

Kimber expanded production to Troy, over Yonkers, New York. It later relocated its corporate headquarters to Alabama.

Arkansas

White River Energetics, a primer manufacturer, announced it was expanding operations to increase production capacity from 14,000-square feet to 90,000-square-feet, and create 100 new jobs with a $70 million investment.
SIG Sauer celebrated the grand opening of the Jacksonville Arkansas Ammunition center, a 210,000-square-foot facility in October 2024, which is expected to bring 675 jobs and a $500 million economic impact.
Fiocchi USA established manufacturing operations in Little Rock in 2020 with a $15 million capital investment, creating 85 jobs, then in 2022 selected Little Rock for a new primer manufacturing facility with a $41.5 million capital investment and 120 jobs created.
Vista Outdoor acquired the Remington Ammunition Facility in Lonoke in 2021, adding hundreds of jobs at the facility.

Georgia

Remington Firearms announced it will establish a global headquarters, research and development and expand production in La Grange, Georgia. RemArms made their recent announcement that all Ilion, New York, manufacturing operations will move to La Grange as well.
Norma Precision Ammunition announced in 2022 that the company would build a new ammunition production and distribution facility in Bryan County, north of Savannah. The announcement came just months after Norma Precision Ammunition announced it was establishing its U.S. headquarters, manufacturing site and warehousing and distribution operations in Chatham County.
Taurus moved production to Bainbridge, Georgia, from South Florida in 2019.
Daniel Defense opened their new headquarters and manufacturing location in Black Creek, Ga., in 2018.

Idaho

Freedom Munitions consolidated production in 2024 to their Lewiston, Idaho facility which opened in 2022.

Iowa

Les Baer moved from restrictive Illinois to LeClaire, Iowa, in 2007.
Lewis Machine & Tool Company (LMT) left Illinois after 40 years to relocate to Iowa in 2019.

Michigan

The Montana Rifle Company was acquired by Grace Engineering Corporation, a third-generation family-owned business and began production of the bolt-action rifles in Memphis, Michigan.

Mississippi

Olin Corporation’s Winchester Ammunition moved most production from East Alton, Illinois, to Oxford in 2011.

Montana

Ultimate Defense Technologies moved from Arizona to Billings, Montana, after meeting Gov. Gianforte at SHOT Show 2023 and opened their new firearm safety systems solutions headquarters in September 2024.
Olympus Arms celebrated production expansion in Helena, Montana, after the company announced investment of $50 million with plans to add jobs for 60 employees.
Brixtel Defense, an ammunition manufacturer, announced their relocation from Virginia to Dawson County, adding a $125 million investment in Montana and bringing 125 jobs, with plans for a total of 350 jobs.
Alpha Loading Systems, an ammunition loading and primer machinery manufacturer, announced in 2023 it was expanding its footprint in western Montana and tripling its workforce.
Shield Arms announced an expansion and move into a new $5 million 36,000 square foot headquarters and manufacturing facility in Bigfork that will also bring 30 new jobs to its existing 40 employee footprint.

Nebraska

Hornady Manufacturing announced plans in November 2024 to expand their west facility to extend infrastructure to the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant, bring a $2 million investment and adding 29 jobs.
Hornady Manufacturing took over management of the Heartland Public Shooting Park in May 2024, located in Grand Island, one of the largest public shooting venues in the Midwest, with plans to attract more patrons.

North Carolina

Sturm, Ruger and Co. expanded production in Mayodan, North Carolina, in 2013.

Pennsylvania

Kahr Arms moved their headquarters to Greely, Pennsylvania, from New York after the state rushed through passage of the SAFE Act. And pulling most of its manufacturing out of Worcester, Massachusetts.

South Carolina

American Tactical Imports relocated 100 jobs and its manufacturing from Rochester, New York, to Summerville, South Carolina, in 2013.
PTR Industries left Connecticut for Aynor, South Carolina in 2013, where it set up shop.

South Dakota

South Dakota opened the Pete Lien & Sons Shooting Sports Complex, a $20 million, 400-acre recreational shooting complex just north of Rapid City.

Tennessee

Beretta moved firearm production and engineering and design to Gallatin, Tennessee, from Maryland in 2015 over concerns of increasingly strict gun control legislation.
Smith & Wesson opened their new headquarters and manufacturing facility in Maryville, Tennessee in 2023.

Texas

Mossberg expanded production in Eagle Pass, Texas, in 2013, instead of growing its North Haven, Connecticut, plant.
Colt Competition moved from Canby, Oregon, to Breckenridge, Texas, in 2013.

Wyoming

Kel-Tech expanded production to Rock Springs, Wyo., in 2025.
Governor Gordon’s Shooting Sports Task Force selected Cody, Wyoming as the home of the state’s new multi-million dollar state shooting sports complex in 2024.
Delegates from the Wyoming Business Council met with Consorzio Armaioli Italiani, in Italy, in October 2024 to explore bringing Italian sporting arms manufacturing to the Cowboy State.
Absaroka Valley Ammunition, in Sheridan, Wyoming, announced in 2022 it was expanding production with a goal of bringing 200-250 full-time jobs.
Big Horn Armory celebrated the opening of the newly-expanded 43,396-square-foot-facility in Cody, Wyoming on 2022.
Gunwerks celebrated opening its 43,000-square -foot facility in 2022 supporting 70 full-time employees in Cody, Wyoming.
Kel-Tec CNC Industries announced in 2022 expansion to a 33,000 square-foot-facility in Rock Springs, Wyoming, bringing an additional 250 jobs.
Magpul Industries left Boulder, Colorado, after the state passed magazine restrictions and moved production to Laramie, Wyoming.
Weatherby Inc.’s Adam Weatherby announced at SHOT Show in 2018 that he was moving the company from California to Sheridan, Wyoming.
Accessories maker HiViz announced in 2013 they were leaving Fort Collins, Colorado, over restrictive gun control legislation to Laramie, Wyoming.
Stag Arms announced opened their facility in Cheyenne, Wyoming, after announcing in 2019 they were leaving their former headquarters in New Britain, Conn.

The Hawkeye™ IWB includes a protective shroud for most compact carry-style optical sights!

Comfortable and convenient, the Hawkeye features a snap-on design that allows the holster to attach and detach from the belt without removing the belt. Reinforced premium steerhide construction retains its shape when the handgun is removed, allowing smooth and easy return to the holster. The smooth-out leather construction rides comfortably against the body, and features full firing grip clearance for a quick and sure draw.

It’s supplied with removable belt loops fitting belts up to 1 3/4”, with optional tan and black 1 1/4”, 1 1/2″, and 1 3/4″ belt loops available. The Hawkeye is also compatible with our new Appendix Carry Belt Loops, sold separately.

The Hawkeye is available in right hand design with black or tan finish.

Chiappa Unveils the New Rhino 60DS L-Frame in .44 Magnum with Three Distinct Finishes

Dayton, OH (December 12, 2025) – Chiappa Firearms will open 2026 with the introduction of a new L-Frame Rhino chambered in .44 Remington Magnum, a platform expansion that brings the Rhino’s well-known low-bore recoil characteristics into a larger, purpose-built magnum revolver.

The .44 Magnum 60DS lineup will be available in three finishes: Black, White Nickel, and Gold PVD. This expansion of the Rhino line delivers the full mechanical advantages of the updated L-Frame architecture while remaining accessible to a broad range of shooters and collectors.

Built around the Rhino’s trademark bottom-chamber firing geometry, the new .44 Magnum 60DS reduces muzzle rise and straightens recoil impulse, a decisive advantage when moving a high-pressure cartridge through a revolver platform. The enlarged L-Frame introduces updated ergonomics, including twin finger stops and a revised grip interface for improved leverage and repeatable hand placement. Despite the larger chambering, the frame maintains Chiappa’s characteristic balance between strength and weight using a 7075-T6 aluminum frame paired with a steel barrel and breech shield.

All three standard finishes share the same mechanical core and configuration. Each model uses a 6-inch barrel, fiber-optic sights (fixed front, fully adjustable rear), a double/single-action system, and a six-round cylinder. A comprehensive safety suite, comprising a cylinder block, rotation lock, and hammer block, is carried over from prior Rhino generations. Although each finish provides a distinct visual identity, the underlying platform remains a purpose-driven .44 Magnum revolver designed for stability, controllability, and repeatable performance.

The Rhino 60DS L-Frame weighs 2.92 lbs, measures 11 inches in overall length, and ships with Hogue rubber grips for improved recoil management. Each revolver is packaged in Chiappa’s hard case and includes the standard owner’s kit and Rhino sticker.

The order, worth approximately $20.6 million, brings Avon Protection’s FM50 NSPA contract value to over $100 million.

Avon Protection’s FM50 respirator, together with the FM61EU filter, is designed to protect the wearer from CBRN threats in line with latest NATO requirements. The twin filter conformal system offers low-profile protection and very low breathing resistance for military, anti-terrorism and peace-keeping operations.
Avon Protection was awarded the 10-year NSPA FM50 contract in 2020, enabling NATO nations and partners to purchase the FM50 respirator, MP-PAPR, ST53, filters and related accessories. In total, Avon Protection has now delivered more than 100,000 FM50s to more than ten NATO nations, along with associated filters and accessories.

NSSF Supports OCC Ripping Back Veil of Banking Discrimination

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF^®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, is encouraged and supports the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency’s (OCC) preliminary findings after reviewing large banks’ debanking activities. The OCC report revealed what the firearm industry has known, and experienced, for years. Large banks systematically “made inappropriate distinctions” of lawful businesses, including those against firearm-related businesses, to restrict access to banking services.

In short, large banks including JPMorgan Chase Bank, Bank of America, Citibank, Wells Fargo Bank, U.S. Bank, Capital One, PNC Bank, TD Bank and BMO Bank, unlawfully discriminated against certain industries, including the firearm industry, for political reasons. This practice is unlawful and is demonstrative of corporate banks exercising an antigun agenda to deprive, starve out and eliminate firearm businesses despite the fact they lawfully produce and sell a constitutionally-protected product to law-abiding citizens. NSSF revealed that JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon was untruthful when he claimed his bank doesn’t discriminate for political reasons and has repeatedly exposed unlawful debanking activities.

“NSSF is encouraged that the Trump administration, through the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, is exercising its regulatory authority to protect industries from unlawful banking discrimination,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President & General Counsel. “Eliminating banking discrimination was a focus of the first Trump administration, which was stymied by Biden administration’s antigun agenda. We are hopeful that this preliminary report is only the beginning of ending this unscrupulous practice of weaponizing finance and ensuring banks aren’t used as to advance extremist policies that have been rejected by Congress.”

The OCC’s preliminary findings established that the firearm industry was a target of unlawful debanking, along with other industries that were politically disfavored by banks, including oil and gas exploration, coal mining and digital assets, among others.

The OCC’s report specifically stated:

Firearms, firearms accessories, or ammunition manufacturing or distribution. Several banks restricted financing to firearms manufacturers or retailers, including those offering assault- or military-style weapons for civilian use. Others included certain firearms accessories (e.g., bump stocks, high-capacity magazines). At least two banks highlighted “polarizing” or “polarized” public opinion surrounding individual gun ownership rights and gun control as part of the basis for their firearms restrictions.
