TrueTimber® Returns as Sponsor for Noah Gragson’s Return to JR Motorsports in 2022

INMAN, S.C. – September 14, 2020 – TrueTimber has announced a partnership extension with Noah Gragson as he returns to JR Motorsports for the 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series along with co-partners Bass Pro Shops and Black Rifle coffee. This marks the third straight season Gragson will compete in the NXS carrying the Bass Pro Shops, TrueTimber, Black Rifle paint scheme on his No. 9 car. This announcement comes following Gragson’s back-to-back wins the past two weekends in Darlington, SC and Richmond, VA, marking his third and fourth career NXS victory lane appearance.

“We are really excited to stay on board with the number nine car and to continue to support Noah and the JRM team,” said TrueTimber CEO Rusty Sellars. “Noah brings the heat week after week and is always pushing the limits to be at the front of the pack. He is extremely motivated and loves showing support not only for our brand, but for our co-partners Bass Pro Shops and Black Rifle Coffee. This group has shown its ability to succeed in the past and we can’t wait to see more of Noah running up front.”

Gragson currently sits sixth in NXS points with one race remaining in the regular season, firmly inside the playoff field. So far this season, Gragson has earned ten top-five and 16 top-10 finishes, with his best results being the last two weekend’s wins in Darlington and Richmond. Gragson also won three of the four Xfinity Dash 4 Cash payouts this season, pushing his career total to four after taking the $100,000 bonus at Atlanta Motor Speedway in 2020.

“Johnny Morris believed in me enough to put Bass Pro Shops on my car to start the 2020 season, and it paid off with victory the first time out,” Gragson said. “It was special to stand in Victory Lane at Daytona with Johnny right beside me. Bass Pro Shops, Rusty Sellars at TrueTimber and Evan and Mat at Black Rifle Coffee Company have been fantastic to work with. We still have a lot to accomplish this season but I’m looking forward to battling for a series championship again in 2022.”

During his career at JRM, Gragson won at Dayton in 2020 and again that same season at Bristol Motor Speedway. The young driver has amassed 35 top-five and 62 top-10 finishes in that span and has made the playoffs in each of his three seasons with the team.

U.S. LAWSHIELD® SUPPORTS CONNECTICUT CITIZENS DEFENSE LEAGUE IN MULTIPLE FEDERAL LAWSUITS

Legal Defense for Self Defense®

Houston, Texas – September 14, 2021 – U.S. LawShield®, industry leader and America’s largest provider of Legal Defense for Self Defense® coverage, is backing the Connecticut Citizens Defense League, Inc. (CCDL) as they take the state of Connecticut to federal court for violating the second amendment rights of its citizens.

“Responsible Americans in Connecticut are suffering because of the state’s mismanagement of fingerprinting for firearms purchases during COVID,” said P.J. Hermosa, CEO of U.S. LawShield. “And because so many citizens face lengthy delays in applying for their permits, their right to bear arms are at significant risk,” he said.

According to Holly Sullivan, President of the CCDL, “Thankfully, U.S. LawShield is lending financial support to our battle with the State of Connecticut. Together we recognize the hardships the state has burdened people with are untenable and unconstitutional.” The CCDL, with financial support from U.S. LawShield, has filed emergency motions and a civil lawsuit in federal court to address these issues.

FAULTY STATE FINGERPRINTING SYSTEM

When Connecticut stopped fingerprinting altogether during the pandemic, the CCDL filed a lawsuit, and a judge required the process be reinstated right away. However, Connecticut has circumvented the fingerprinting issue by introducing a new software system that has proven difficult to use. “Our police departments and law enforcement agencies are already strapped for personnel and funding, so adding fingerprinting training on a faulty and difficult-to-use system is not practical,” Sullivan said.

DELAY OF LAWFUL PERMIT APPLICATIONS

After learning that Bridgeport, Hartford, New Haven, and Waterbury were delaying the applications of law-abiding citizens’ municipal firearms permits, the CCDL filed a federal civil rights action in the U.S. District Court against the police chiefs of those cities. “On behalf of members residing in the largest cities in Connecticut, we are bringing legal action to stop the blatant and ongoing violations of their right to keep and bear arms,” said Sullivan.

“Applications are the first step in obtaining a state-issued pistol permit,” Sullivan noted. “So, in addition to violating citizen’s rights to access the permitting process, these cities are notorious for violating their resident’s constitutional rights by excessively delaying the application process. The CCDL is thankful to U.S. LawShield in supporting us as we stand up for the residents of these cities, many of whom are minorities fighting for their right to keep and bear arms for personal protection,” Sullivan added.

“Protecting our constitutional right to bear arms is a shared mission of the CCDL and U.S. LawShield, and we are steadfast in our support of these court battles to uphold the second amendment and freedoms of Connecticut citizens,” concluded Hermosa.

About Connecticut Citizens Defense League

The Connecticut Citizens Defense League (CCDL) is a non-partisan, grassroots organization devoted to advocating rights affirmed by the Constitutions of the United States of America and the State of Connecticut. We are especially dedicated to protecting the unalienable right of all citizens to keep and bear arms, for the defense of both self and state, through public enlightenment and legislative action. We welcome anyone who believes that the defense of our constitutional rights is critical to the longevity of our freedom and to the success of this nation, and in particular that the rights to self-defense and to keep and bear the arms to actualize that defense, are fundamental and undeniable.

Since 2009, the mission of U.S. LawShield remains unchanged. We believe in Preserving Freedom for Good™ by educating our 700,000+ members and 6,000+ facility partners in self-defense law; empowering them to handle critical, life-threatening situations with confidence; protecting them from potential injustices in the legal system after acts of self-defense; and challenging the status quo regarding the affordability of legal defense. Our higher purpose is to create a united community of responsible individuals who believe in liberty and the inalienable right of self-defense.

The British Ministry of Defense Employed Rafael’s DRONE DOME to Defend the G7 Summit from Drone, UAV threats

The British Ministry of Defense Employed Rafael’s DRONE DOME to Defend the G7 Summit from Drone, UAV threats

Earlier this year, in June 2021, the British Ministry of Defense employed Rafael’s DRONE DOME counter-UAV system to protect world leaders during the G7 Summit in Cornwall, England from unmanned aerial threats.

Three years ago, Britain’s Defense Ministry purchased several DRONE DOME systems which it has successfully employed in a multitude of operational scenarios, including for protecting both the physical site and participants of this year’s G7 summit.

Rafael’s DRONE DOME is an innovative end-to-end, combat-proven counter-Unmanned Aerial System (C-UAS), providing all-weather, 360-degree rapid defense against hostile drones. Fully operational and globally deployed, DRONE DOME offers a modular, robust infrastructure comprised of electronic jammers and sensors and unique artificial intelligence algorithms to effectively secure threatened air space.

DRONE DOME’s advanced technology allows it to effectively address drone and UAV threats through detection, identification, and neutralization. When DRONE DOME identifies a threat, it allocates the target to the laser, locks onto the target, tracks it, and carries out either a soft or hard-kill with its unique, integrated laser technology. This laser system operates reliably in any weather condition, and results in minimal environmental damage.

Additionally, DRONE DOME’s artificial intelligence capabilities, along with the advanced laser and sensor systems, provide a more precise picture of the incoming threat. This additional information allows the system both to detect and identify specific threat elements more accurately and engage and neutralize the target faster and more efficiently.

The system’s flexibility across military and civil applications offers advanced protection for maneuvering forces, sensitive facilities, border protection, as well as increasingly vulnerable civilian targets like airports and other public facilities.

Meir Ben Shaya, Rafael EVP for Marketing and Business Development of Air Defense Systems: “Rafael today recognizes two new and key trends in the field of counter-UAVs, both of which DRONE DOME can successfully defend against. The first trend is the number of drones employed during an attack, and the operational need to have the ability counter multiple, simultaneous attacks; this is a significant, practical challenge that any successful system must be able to overcome. The second trend is the type of tool being employed. Previously, air defense systems were developed to seek out conventional aircraft, large unmanned aerial vehicles, and missile, but today these defense systems must also tackle smaller, slower, low-flying threats which are becoming more and more autonomous. Today’s threats pose a significant challenge for SIGNT and radar systems which are predominantly built to seek larger, more conventional targets. These new threats require hard-kill solutions, which is precisely why Rafael developed its laser interception system now integrated into DRONE DOME.”

The use of the DRONE DOME at the G7 summit is a testament to the system’s success and satisfaction of its users around the world, including the British Ministry of Defense. Operational, combat-proven, and highly reliable, DRONE DOME has proven itself time and again in real, operational environments.

Niedersachsen Police Adopts Blackhawk™ T-Series™ L3D Holsters

Germany’s Lower Saxony Police Department Converts to Blackhawk Holsters for Duty Use

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – September 13, 2021 – Blackhawk®, a leader in law enforcement and military equipment for over 20 years, announced today its German distributor Helmut Hofmann has been awarded a contract from the Niedersachsen Police Department in Germany for new duty holsters from Blackhawk’s T-Series Holster line. The Niedersachsen Police Department, which includes the entire Lower Saxony state police, selected the Blackhawk T-Series L3D as its new service holster as part of the full agency conversion from a competitive brand.

The Niedersachsen Police, which is comprised of 8,000 sworn officers, becomes the second largest European contract for Blackhawk T-Series L3D holsters following the recent French Army win. The full-department conversion calls for the thumb operated Level 3 Duty (L3D) T-Series to accommodate the agency’s issued Heckler & Koch SFP9 service pistols as part of a multi-year framework agreement.

The Blackhawk L3D T-Series holster was selected by the Niedersachsen Police after an extensive testing and evaluation period, which included numerous holster models from various competitors. After thoroughly examining each submission, the department chose the Blackhawk holster based on its proprietary lightweight and robust materials plus its safe operating methods that are tailored to the requirements of the respective authorities, which significantly simplifies training.

JD Dulaney, Vice President and General Manager for Blackhawk, said, “We are honored that our T-Series holster has been selected by the Niedersachsen Police. This agency, along with multiple other European allies, have been strong advocates of our products and we are proud to support these men and women with a holster designed to meet the highest standards for performance and reliability.”

Developed with a low-friction internal material, the T-Series holster allows for a smooth and effortless draw, while its external design features a proprietary glass reinforced nylon for the utmost durability. This combination of features has been reported by adopting agencies to not only improve qualification scores by allowing for a smooth, fast draw, but to also promote safer handling of the sidearm.

Adding to its versatility, the T-Series L3D holster comes standard with the Jacket Slot Belt Loop and has three additional mounting options. Users can select either the S.T.R.I.K.E®/MOLLE Platform, or one of Blackhawk’s two different drop leg platforms, all of which can make use of the new patented pending Blackhawk second generation Quick Disconnect System. This unique and one-of-a-kind system allows the holster to be quickly and conveniently moved from one platform to another with no tools required.

Designed to follow Blackhawk’s Master Grip Principal, all T-Series holsters are specifically developed to allow the user’s hand to land naturally where it should in order to deploy the sidearm. This efficient movement pairs with the sound-dampening, low-friction, internal material that translates into a smooth, quiet draw.

For more information on the T-Series L3D holster from Blackhawk or to the view the complete line of T-Series holsters be sure to visit www.blackhawk.com.

FAA Awards $100M to Develop Next Generation of Sustainable Aircraft Technology

FAA logo

Date: September 10, 2021

FAA Awards $100M to Develop Next Generation of Sustainable Aircraft Technology

WASHINGTON –The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded more than $100 million for companies to help develop technologies that reduce fuel use, emissions and noise. The award is part of a series of steps President Biden is taking to coordinate leadership and innovation across the federal government, aircraft manufacturers, airlines, fuel producers and more to position American aviation to soar towards net zero emissions by 2050. This FAA announcement is part of those efforts.

“Across the country, communities have been devastated by the effects of climate change – but, if we act now, we can ensure that aviation plays a central role in the solution,” said Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. “These awards will help America lead the world in sustainable aviation.”

The Continuous Lower Energy, Emissions and Noise (CLEEN) Program is a public-private partnership that began in 2010 and is a key part the FAA’s overall strategy to tackle the global challenge of climate change and lower the impact aviation has on communities. The program requires the companies receiving the contracts to match or exceed the FAA’s investment, bringing the total to at least $200 million over a five-year period.  The awards are the third phase of the FAA’s CLEEN program.

FAA Investment
Under CLEEN Phase III, the FAA and six industry partners will focus on reducing aviation emissions and noise, including pursuing goals of reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by improving fuel efficiency by at least 20 percent below the relevant International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standard; NOx emissions by 70 percent relative to the most recent ICAO standard; particulate matter emissions below the ICAO standard; and noise by 25 dB cumulative relative to the FAA Stage 5 standard.

General Electric Aviation will develop an advanced engine propulsion system and advanced acoustic improvements to reduce noise and fuel consumption; electric and hybrid-electric systems to increase fuel efficiency; and advanced combustion and thermal management systems to reduce emissions and fuel consumption. The company also will support the evaluation of alternative jet fuels that could enable further aircraft performance improvements.
Honeywell Aerospace will develop a more efficient engine fan, combustion system, compressor, and turbine to reduce noise, emissions, and fuel consumption.
Pratt & Whitney will develop an ultra-quiet engine fan and an advanced combustion system to reduce noise, emissions, and fuel consumption.
Boeing will develop technologies to reduce noise from the wings, landing gear, and engine inlets. The company also will support the evaluation of alternative jet fuels that could enable further aircraft performance improvements, and help to develop new algorithms that enable aircraft to fly quieter, more fuel-efficient routes.
Delta TechOps, GKN Aerospace, MDS Coating, and America’s Phenix will work together to develop erosion-resistant fan blade coatings to reduce fuel consumption over the life of an engine.
Rohr Inc. will develop acoustic technology to reduce the noise from engine exhausts.

The FAA also is pursuing agreements with Rolls-Royce Corporation and Safran Nacelles.

“Like our quest for safer skies, making flying sustainable requires us to constantly look for ways to improve,” said FAA Administrator Steve Dickson.

The CLEEN technologies developed so far are estimated to reduce CO2 emissions equivalent to removing 3 million cars from the road by 2050 and to save the aviation industry 36 billion gallons of fuel. The fuel savings is the equivalent of 11.4 million Boeing 737 flights between New York and Los Angeles.

Continuing Success
Examples of the accomplishments from the FAA’s $225 million invested in the CLEEN Phase I and Phase II include:

Enhanced jet engine combustion systems have entered the aviation fleet, resulting in lower emissions.
Advanced aircraft wings made of stronger and lighter-weight materials are supporting innovative development of current and future aircraft.
Flight Management System algorithms have been created under CLEEN to enable aircraft to fly more fuel-efficient routes.
Several alternative jet fuels have been certified for safe use, due in part to testing and evaluation efforts conducted under CLEEN.

The FAA anticipates that technologies developed under CLEEN Phase III could be introduced into commercial aircraft by 2031.

See the CLEEN Program website for more program information and detailed descriptions of CLEEN technologies and benefits.

HENSOLDT to support Frontex maritime surveillance project.

26 Aug 21. HENSOLDT to support Frontex maritime surveillance project. ARGOS-II HD thermal imaging camera to be deployed on aerostats. Leading-edge sensor technology developed by HENSOLDT will strengthen Frontex maritime surveillance in the Mediterranean Sea and contribute to the protection of Europe’s strategic south-eastern border. In the frame of a technology pilot program, HENSOLDT’s ARGOS-II HD electro-optical infra-red (eoir) system will be deployed on two tethered aerostats and deliver extensive security surveillance.

The project is operated by Frontex – the European Border and Coast Guard Agency – which has the mandate to safeguard the external borders of the European Union and ensure the freedom and territorial integrity of member states.

Andreas Huelle, Head of HENSOLDT’s Optronics Division, says: “This innovative technology offers Frontex the ability to monitor a very strategic maritime coastline and collect critical data. This is a capability that has been identified as a strategic priority by both the EU and the United Nations.”

The ARGOS-II HD forms part of an integrated turn-key solution that consists of advanced sensors that are fitted on two aerostats, provided by CNIM Air Space, tethered on Greek islands in the Aegean Sea. At altitudes of several hundred meters above the host islands the ARGOS-II covers a range of up to 40 km and can detect both large and small vessels and monitor activities with exceptional clarity and detail. It is in operation 24/7,day and night, even in inclement weather. The continuous zoom thermal imaging camera records the images and transmit video and data in real time to base stations on the ground.

“Argos II is one of the best eoir sensors in the market today and will provide Frontex with accurate, real-time information on activities in the maritime environment and enable it to analyze situations and initiate respective counter measures”, says Mischa Niedinger, Director of Airborne Systems Sales at HENSOLDT.

The ARGOS-II HD system can be fitted onto fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles and aerostats. It is used extensively in border protection, search and rescue operations, maritime patrols, law enforcement and asset protection. It is already widely used in the security and surveillance environments, including by the German Federal Police where it is deployed in anti-smuggling, illegal trafficking, and border security operations.

Safariland CADRE Golob Takes Back-To-Back Women’s Title Wins in Wyoming

Safariland®, a leading global provider of safety products designed for public safety, military, professional and outdoor markets, announced that Safariland CADRE, Julie Golob won titles at the NRA Steamboat Challenge Action Pistol Regional and Wyoming State Championships in a back-to-back match weekend hosted by the Otto Road Shooting Range in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

The double match weekend kicked off with the Steamboat Challenge Regional featuring classic action pistol courses of fire: Moving Target, Barricade, Plates, and Practical. Julie secured 1st place finish among women, and 4th place finish in the Open Division. She took the overall stage win for the Barricade Event with a perfect 480 score.

With regional championships crowned, the Wyoming State match repeated two courses, Moving Target and Plates, with the two remining courses being selected at random. In Golob’s case, International Rapid Fire and Modified Barricade were selected, adding a twist and excitement with no previous opportunity to shoot either course. In the Wyoming State Championships, Golob was named the Ladies Champion while earning a 3rd place podium finish in the Open Division. Despite it being a first-time run, Golob tied for first with High Master Mark Itzstein for top honors on the Modified Barricade.

“I use the Safariland ELS system with a 776 magnetic pouch to conveniently store all my mags in Action Pistol,” said Golob. “I also like to keep a spare 771 pouch with me. It’s designed to give a fast and efficient reload and it came in handy for the Modified Barricade.”

In both competitions, Julie Golob was outfitted with the same guns and gear. In addition to her Safariland ELS Rig, her setup includes a custom Smith & Wesson 9mm 911 with Trijicon MRO optic, custom loaded Federal Premium ammunition, and Caldwell safety gear.

“Safariland is very proud of CADRE Golob’s accomplishments and thankful for her outstanding representation of our brand. These back-to-back titles are an excellent demonstration of Julie’s marksmanship and abilities with a pistol and dedication to refining her shooting skills,” said Christina Rhine.

The Most Comfortable Rifle You Will Ever Shoot

The Most Comfortable Rifle You Will Ever Shoot

CAA USA CEO, LTC. (Ret.) Mikey Hartman, reveals details of the newly minted “AGADA” P.C.C. rifle via the company’s YouTube Channel. The AGADA, Hebrew for “Legend,” will be officially unveiled at 2021 NASGW Expo.

Pompano Beach, Fla. (September 2021)CAA USA, designers and developers of the world-famous MCK/Micro Conversion Kit, have just released new details regarding their new pistol caliber carbine on the company’s YouTube Channel. LTC. (Ret.) Mikey Hartman, CEO of CAA USA, announces in the video that the PCC has been named the AGADA, a Hebrew word for “Legend.” At an MSRP of $899.00, the AGADA will accept 9mm and in the future 10mm GLOCK magazines.

Hartman goes further into detail, citing the various components of the new “human-designed” rifle that breaks with a 500-year-old rifle design tradition. “Most of my 22-year military career I spent training the IDF army on how to shoot a rifle. When I established the marksmanship / sharpshooting school and wrote the shooting doctrine, I tried to find a system that would prepare each and every soldier for combat and to achieve the desired outcome. The very way soldiers held their rifles always frustrated me, whether it was a Galil, M4 or Tavor. The gun is just not designed for the human body. We, by definition, must contort our body to hold the pistol grip, pull trigger, hold forward grip, and even place our head on the stock / cheekpiece. When we started to design our new rifle, I did so with that in mind and adjusted, sometimes radically, every point of contact of our body with the rifle. It will be the most comfortable gun you will ever hold. That I guarantee”.

The patent-pending AGADA rifle will have some familiar features such as a gas blow-back operation and will be available for right and left-hand shooters. It will also use existing GLOCK magazines, as well as CAA USA proprietary magazines. It will be available in three basic configurations:

  • · 16-inch rifle
  • · 10-inch NFA SBR
  • · 10-inch Carbine with faux suppressor pinned and welded to an OAL of 16-inches

·

Where the AGADA breaks design tradition is in the stock, lower receiver, pistol grip, trigger, and forward grip. The adjustable cheekpiece features an increased surface area that keeps the shooter’s head in an optimal upright position while the stock is resting on and against the shoulder. The folding stock folds to the opposite side and will be capable of firing when folded.

The unique design of the magwell is an oversized opening that allows the user faster mag insertions without removing the head or taking eyes off the target during reloading. The integrated pistol grip curls forward and off the side of the lower, putting the user in more of a “boxer” like position, as well as a more natural continuation of the arm. The AGADA will have an incorporated last-round, bolt-hold-open with release lever feature, in addition to two safeties. One will be in the pistol grip and the other will be an ambidextrous safety in the lower.

The AGADA’s fire control group is unlike a traditional rearward pull. It exploits the natural flow of the arm in the boxing position by using a downward pull to activate the very light 2.5 lbs. trigger pull. The ergonomic forward grip is off-set and angled forward and can quickly be adjusted to any shooter’s specific requirements without removal from the rail.

For more information on the new AGADA rifle, see the video on CAA USA’s YouTube page.

Introducing the MPA DS40 Travis Tomasie (TT) Competition Pistol from MasterPiece Arms

Built based on the pistol configuration preferences of MPA Pro Shooter, National and World Champion, Travis Tomasie, the MPA DS40 TT Comp Pistol is chambered in 40 S&W to meet Major Power Factor scoring in both USPSA and IPSC.

Comer, Ga. (September 2021)MasterPiece Arms (MPA), manufacturer of precision Pistol, BA Rifles and Chassis Systems, is proud to unveil its newest competition pistol, based on the preferences of MPA Pro Shooter Travis Tomasie, in the DS Pistol Line: the MPA DS40 Travis Tomasie (TT) Competition Pistol. Chambered in 40 S&W, the DS40 TT Comp Pistol meets Major Power Factor scoring under the rules of the United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) and the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC).

“We were excited to work with Travis to create this competition-ready pistol,” commented Phil Cashin, owner and president of MPA. “Travis’ years of experience and knowledge in the competitive shooting marketplace helped us hone in on what features matter most when it comes to competition. We’ve created something really special here that we think any competitor in USPSA or IPSC will find value in.”

Providing incredible accuracy and reliability, the specific features for this pistol include aggressive texturing on the MPA Grip, which helps shooters keep a firm grip on their pistol during fast-paced competitions. It also includes traditional dovetail cuts for the adjustable front and rear sights, a Bomar-style rear sight, competition magwell (for 140mm mags or larger – incorporates a self-centering radius funnel design), and two MBX 140mm 40 Cal magazines. It is ideal for USPSA Limited Division.

“I’m proud to have partnered with MPA in developing a truly remarkable competition pistol. Built to my specifications and combining superior components with precision craftsmanship, the DS40 TT Comp Pistol is ready to race right out of the box,” Tomasie said.

As with all DS Pistols, all parts of the MPA DS40 TT Comp Pistol are machined in the USA from barstock and billet and include no MIM, castings, or forgings. The components machined by MPA include the full-length steel, light rail five-inch frame, slide, MPA 416R stainless bull barrel, stainless steel beavertail/grip safety, stainless steel ambidextrous safety, stainless steel slide stop, firing pin stop, ejector, magwell, and a 7075 black anodized aluminum grip.

The DS40 TT Comp Pistol also includes a Koenig hammer, sear, and disconnector, Wolff Springs, custom machined aluminum trigger shoe, and a one-piece stainless guide rod. It features a 2.5 lb. trigger pull. The pistol will ship with a pull weight between 2 lbs. 6 oz. – 2 lbs. 10 oz. and will relax to 2 lbs. after the pistol is broken in. The FGW slide serrations with slide lightening cuts create less reciprocating mass. Each pistol is hand-built, including lapping the slide/frame interface, and comes competition-ready in a custom MPA single pistol case with a lifetime warranty.

Tomasie is a multiple world and national IPSC and USPSA champion. He is an Army Veteran and former member of the US Army Marksmanship Unit. He has been featured and prominently starred on TV’s “MythBusters,” “Shooting USA,” “Gallery of Guns,” and a host of other shows. He has founded his own training academy, where he teaches a variety of students in many segments, including competition, self-defense, beginners, as well as military and law enforcement. One of the most dynamic and engaging teachers in the industry, Tomasie has coached and mentored many of today’s top shooters to remarkable success, including numerous national championship victories. As a student of the game, he constantly strives to advance the art and science of high-performance marksmanship.

NEWTOWN, Conn. — The National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®), the firearm industry trade association, is pleased to learn of President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw the nomination of David Chipman to become the Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

NSSF led the opposition to Chipman’s nomination. Mr. Chipman is clearly unqualified to lead ATF due to his employment as a gun control lobbyist for Everytown for Gun Safety and Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence. He had previously testified on Capitol Hill in favor of gun bans, gun registration and gun control policies that were not in keeping with the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens. He also made denigrating remarks about the 8.4 million first-time gun buyers last year, calling into question his ability to fairly and evenly apply the law as written and firearm regulations.

Chipman was later accused of making racially-denigrating remarks, to which he has yet to answer. NSSF called on The White House or Chipman himself to release his personnel records from his 25 years as an ATF agent. Neither has done so.

“We believe strongly that ATF needs a Senate-confirmed director to lead the brave men and women of ATF,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “David Chipman is not that person.”

The firearm industry hopes The White House will now nominate a qualified candidate who possesses executive leadership experience and will apply the law without a political agenda. NSSF has supported every prior nominee in the past, including President Barack Obama’s nomination of B. Todd Jones and more recently President Donald Trump’s nomination of Chuck Canterbury.

NSSF Retail Surveys Show 3.2 Million Estimated First-Time Gun Buyers in First Half of 2021

First-Time Gun Buyer

NEWTOWN, Conn. — The National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®), the firearm industry trade association, surveyed firearm retailers recently, and estimates that over 3.2 million people purchased a firearm for the first time during the first half of 2021.

The survey was conducted to learn the buying habits and factors of this year’s firearm purchasers during the first six months of 2021. Respondents indicated that 33.2 percent of customers, or 3,247,351, purchased a firearm for the first time, based on June’s total of nearly 9.8 million background checks for a gun sale.

“This survey shows that there is a continuing demand signal for firearms from the American public,” said Joe Bartozzi, NSSF President and CEO. “We witnessed each month background check figures associated with a gun sale that are second only to those we saw in last year’s record-breaking totals. These survey results show not only is there a strong and healthy appetite from first-time gun buyers but that there is still room to grow. We are encouraged by the sustained interest in lawful and responsible gun ownership as well as by the manufacturing base which has been challenged to meet this remarkable demand.”

Survey results showed that in the first six months of 2021:

  • · Over 90 percent of retailers reported an increase of African American men purchasing firearms.
  • · Nearly 87 percent of retailers reported an increase of African American women purchasing firearms.
  • · Nearly 84 percent of retailers reported an increase of Hispanic-American men purchasing firearms.
  • · Over 87 percent of retailers reported an increase of Hispanic-American women purchasing firearms.
  • · Over 76.5 percent of retailers reported an increase of Asian-American men purchasing firearms.
  • · Over 82 percent of retailers reported an increase of Asian-American women purchasing firearms.
  • · 22.1 percent of customers purchased a second firearm since their initial purchase.
  • · 44.5 percent of first-time gun buyers in 2021 were under 40.
  • · 45.7 percent asked for information on safety training.
  • · 23.6 percent signed up for safety training.

Work with DoD? NDIA encourages small businesses to respond to Fed Register call

Sept. 9, 2021

NDIA supports DoD effort to learn from small businesses to improve operations

ARLINGTON, VA – The National Defense Industrial Association urges small businesses to tell the Defense Department their experiences – the good and the bad — in trying to become part of the defense supply chain, the Arlington, Virginia-based trade association announces.

NDIA is assisting the Defense Department’s effort to bring more small businesses to the table. To that end, DoD issued a Federal Register notice Sept. 8<https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2021/09/08/2021-19352/notice-of-request-for-comments-on-barriers-facing-small-businesses-in-contracting-with-the>, asking small businesses for comments on the hurdles they face in defense contracting. Responses will go directly into the DoD’s overall small-business strategy.

The move comes after an address from Deputy Defense Secretary Kathleen Hicks to a Pennsylvania commerce gathering Sept. 1. “We are committed to examining the administrative barriers that small businesses face in working with us,” she said. “We will take meaningful action to remove barriers where we can.”

ML Mackey, chair of NDIA’s small-business division, encourages companies – members and non-members – to respond to the DoD’s request with honesty and transparency.

“Remember back to when you first got involved with DoD: What enabled you to engage effectively? Are those mechanisms and pathways still in place? Are they easier? Are they more difficult? These are the things DoD needs to know to clear barriers to bring in more small businesses, creating that rich and diverse defense industrial base that can most effectively support the needs of our warfighters,” she said.

Ally Veres, vice chair of the small-business division, called DoD’s effort a solid step in the right direction. “We’re delighted DoD is reaching out to better understand barriers to entry” she said. “This is a great opportunity for us to provide insight into where well-meaning efforts may have inadvertently brought about unintended consequences for small-business entry and ongoing engagement in the defense industrial base.”

Comments are due by Oct. 25. For details, please see the notice in the Federal Register<https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2021/09/08/2021-19352/notice-of-request-for-comments-on-barriers-facing-small-businesses-in-contracting-with-the>.

As part of our monthly iDeaS by COGES Events, we are pleased to present this 7th e-conference – in English – organised for the occasion in collaboration with our partner NCT-A Vision of IB Consultancy:

CBRNe Roadmap: State-of-play and future challenges

Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive agents often are regarded as frightening but distant. Many incidents throughout the past decades, and even in recent years, proved us wrong. From the Anthrax letters attack in 2001 to the recent use of chemical weapons in the Syrian civil war and the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the world learned that even in recent years, the threat posed by such agents is not as far from our daily life as we might think.

Parallelly, explosives, especially in the form of IEDs, are one of the elected weapons by terrorists and continue to take a high toll of deaths across the world. The best shield we have against CBRNe threats is to spread knowledge about them, gathering the expertise of first responders and key decision-makers to analyze and therefore learn the best lessons from past incidents and successful counterproliferation. What are the future challenges awaiting us in the upcoming decade? Our top-level panelists will address that and many more CBRNe topics during this discussion.

INDRA, SET TO EQUIP THE AIR FORCE WITH THE WORLD’S MOST ADVANCED RADARS FOLLOWING THE SIGNING OF A CONTRACT WORTH €120 MILLION

Ignacio Mataix, CEO of Indra, Head of Transport & Defence (T&D)

INDRA, SET TO EQUIP THE AIR FORCE WITH THE WORLD’S MOST ADVANCED RADARS FOLLOWING THE SIGNING OF A CONTRACT WORTH €120 MILLION

· The application of state-of-the-art technologies makes the Lanza 3D one of the most advanced air defense radars, one that’s capable of detecting all kinds of targets, including fifth-generation fighters

· The technology developed by Indra guarantees compatibility and non-interference with 5G operating frequencies, thus facilitating the deployment of ultra-fast mobile communications in Spain

· The Lanza 3D radars are a core element of the NATO air defense network that protects the whole of Europe’s airspace from all kinds of threats. They meet the Alliance’s most demanding requirements and have served in the most complex and demanding environments

Madrid, September 8, 2021.- Indra, one of the leading global technology and consulting companies, will modernize the Air Force’s air surveillance network in the wake of the signing of a contract with the DGAM (Directorate General of Armament and Material) totaling 120 million euros.

The application of state-of-the-art technologies developed by Indra makes the Lanza 3D one of the most advanced and reliable radars on the market, one that’s capable of detecting a wide range of targets, including fifth-generation fighters.

This operation will complement the deployment of this radar throughout the Air Force’s EVAs (Air Surveillance Squadrons), making Spain one of the countries with the most solid air defences in the world.

The new Lanza 3D radars to be supplied in their fixed and deployable versions meet the most demanding technical and operational requirements of the Atlantic Alliance and constitute a core element of NATO’s Integrated Air and Missile Defense System (NATINAMDS) that protects the whole of Europe.

These systems stand out for their high long-range detection capability of all types of aircraft in flight, including fifth-generation fighters with low-detectability (stealth) technologies. They also accurately locate remotely manned aircraft and tactical ballistic missiles, ensuring the necessary early alert of the defense system in the most demanding operating environments (e.g., at very low altitudes and in the presence of electronic disturbances and countermeasures). This will be combined with the highest availability and operational reliability.

Moreover, the new fixed radars developed by Indra will facilitate the deployment of the 5G communications network in Spain. Thanks to its technology, the Lanza 3D radar will pave the way for the complete and unlimited deployment of a service that will increase the speed of communications tenfold, replacing other radars of non-national technology which have reached the final phase of their life cycle and are currently operating on a frequency band that interferes with these kinds of communications.

In addition to the supply of the Lanza 3D, Indra will integrate the radars into the Command and Control Groups of the Aerospace Surveillance and Control System and contribute the elements required to maintain the Air Force’s autonomy in their operation, providing logistical support for the new systems.

The constant technological evolution of the Lanza 3D family of radars can be traced back to the partnership initiated by the Ministry of Defense and the Air Force several decades ago. As a result of the above, our country now has its own strategic technology for its defense and sovereignty. In the decade from 2000 to 2010, the Air Force received Indra’s first ten radars, which were deployed in the EVAs, then known as the Air Command and Control System. Since then, these systems have continued to evolve and improve to become one of the most advanced tools on the market.

Indra’s continuous development of cutting-edge technologies that makes the Lanza 3D one of the most advanced radars on the market is related to its position as an international leader in the defense industry. Indra develops critical projects for the national defense of the countries for which it works, participates in major European and NATO programs and offers significant export capacity. Indra is the Spanish national industrial coordinator of the European NGWS/FCAS Future Air Combat System development program, for which it’s the international leader of the sensor pillar and the domestic leader of three other pillars.

The most powerful radars in the world

Indra is one of the world-leading radar manufacturers. The protection of the European airspace, the survival of the Eurofighter and the ships of several navies and even the protection of satellites in orbit depend on the Spanish company’s mastery of this technology.

With more than forty years’ experience in the development of these systems, Indra can boast that it’s NATO’s preferred supplier when it comes to acquiring mobile air defence radars. The company has won all the tenders to acquire this type of system launched by the Alliance in the last fifteen years.

In San Fernando de Henares Indra has one of the largest radar factories in Europe, covering more than 7,000 square meters and with a staff of 200 specialized professionals.

The company’s engineers are also behind the design of CAPTOR, the radar that gives the Eurofighter its superiority and allows it to ‘see without being seen’. They are also currently working on its development towards an even more advanced electronic scanning configuration.

It has also developed radars that protect the frigates, ships and submarines of several navies around the world. In the civilian field, it supplies systems to navigation service providers across the planet, thus enhancing air traffic safety.

Finally, in recent years the company has developed the S3T radar, a space surveillance radar which has been installed at the Morón Air Base in Seville. This system protects the International Space Station, its satellites, spacecraft and the probes that are launched into space to combat the risk of an impact with any of the debris orbiting out of control around the Earth. With a range of more than 2,000 kilometers, it is one of the most powerful in Europe and in the world.

Indra (www.indracompany.com) is one of the leading global technology and consulting companies and the technological partner for core business operations of its customers worldwide. U.S. LawShield® Provides Legal Advocacy for Coloradans

U.S. LAWSHIELD® PROVIDES LEGAL ADVOCACY FOR COLORADANS

Colorado Lost or Stolen Firearms Law

Houston, Texas – September 8, 2021 – U.S. LawShield®, industry leader and America’s largest provider of Legal Defense for Self-Defense coverage, offers protection, legal advocacy, and education for members in Colorado as Senate Bill 21-078, went into effect yesterday. The new law requires gun owners to report lost or stolen firearms within five days of becoming aware the firearm was missing or face a penalty.

“Criminals steal guns from law-abiding gun owners every day, and we know those guns are often used to commit crimes,” said P.J. Hermosa, CEO of U.S. LawShield. “As the new legislation, known as the Isabella Joy Thallas Act, becomes law this week, it puts Coloradans at risk of becoming criminals themselves if they fail to report a theft or loss of a firearm to law enforcement within the set time. U.S. LawShield supports Colorado members by providing education on safe firearms storage and the added protection of our comprehensive Gunowner Identity Theft program.”

U.S. LawShield Colorado

The Gunowner Identity Theft program protects firearm owners from the potential legal fallout of stolen or lost guns. “When folks experience the loss or theft of their firearms, they need an advocate in their corner,” said Hermosa. “Our proactive approach invites folks to learn best practices for safe firearms storage directly from our Independent Program Attorneys practicing in the State of Colorado. People learn about the options they can utilize today that may prevent a potential lost or stolen gun from coming back to haunt them in the future,” Hermosa said. “Then, members can rest assured that should their gun be lost or stolen and later used in a crime, that an Independent Program Attorney will defend them in a criminal or civil action.”

U.S. LawShield Education in Colorado

Led by a local U.S. LawShield Independent Program Attorney, these sessions educate attendees on the ins and outs of SB21-078 and how it affects their rights and freedoms. “Plus, discover how to protect yourself from the nightmare of a lost or stolen gun with extended coverage options from U.S. LawShield membership,” said Hermosa. Dedicated question-and-answer sessions with the Independent Program Attorneys will follow every informational segment to ensure attendees get the answers they need from a reliable legal source. A duty of $25 is imposed on any firearm owner who reasonably believes their firearm has been lost or stolen and fails to report to law enforcement within five days of the discovery. “It’s important to know that the five-day time limit begins when the owner believes his or her gun was lost or stolen,” according to U.S. LawShield Independent Program Attorney Drew Eddy. “That may or may not be the same date as the actual loss or theft.”

If a gun owner does not inform law enforcement about their firearm being lost or stolen within five days of learning it is missing, that person would be guilty of a petty offense. If the person failed to report a firearm loss or theft more than once, the offense becomes an unclassified misdemeanor and may include a fine of up to $500.

The responding law enforcement agency is required to include in their report an accurate and detailed description of the firearm, including (if known) the manufacturer, model, serial number, caliber, and any other identification number or distinguishing mark on the firearm. “As a result, it is now more crucial than ever for firearm owners to preserve identifying information about their firearm in a place separate from where they store the firearm itself. For example, keep the details of each firearm you own in your smartphone, on your computer, or someplace you can locate it easily,” Eddy added.

The new law provides that a person who is not the owner of the lost or stolen firearm but is a member of the owner’s family, or resides with the owner, may, but is not required, to report the loss or theft. For further details, visit U.S. LawShield at uslawshield.com/colorados-lost-or-stolen-firearms-act/.

Upon receiving a lost or stolen firearm report, law enforcement enters the descriptive information into the Colorado Bureau of Investigation Crime Information Center database. The person who reported the lost or stolen firearm will then be immune from criminal prosecution for failing to report a lost or stolen firearm as such.

About Gunowner Identity Theft

Gunowner Identity Theft is an add-on to the popular Legal Defense for Self-Defense program and costs an additional $83.40 annually or $6.95 monthly.

“When a firearm is stolen or lost, it can be a very unsettling experience,” said Hermosa. Filing a report to document that the firearm is no longer in the owner’s possession is now required by law. “Don’t deal with the fallout on your own. Get the help you need from U.S. LawShield’s Gunowner Identity Theft coverage, and if your gun or your identity are ever stolen, you won’t be risking your right to carry,” he stated.

Hermosa suggests, “If your gun isn’t locked up or secured, it should be within your control—typically holstered and on your person. Always use proper safety measures to store your guns, and be sure to follow your local laws. If you’re unfamiliar with local laws, find out. Claiming ignorance of the law is not a valid legal defense, and many areas of the country have specific nuances to the laws you’ll learn only by doing your own research.”

Designed for militaries, law Enforcement agencies, and special forces, the Micro-TAVOR (X95) was developed in close cooperation with elite units of the IDF, and was tailored to their specific requirements. According to Ronen Hamudot, Exe. VP Marketing and sales: ” The TAVOR family has been in use by various units of the IDF for the past 15 years. This announcement by the IDF for further procurement is yet another evidence for the TAVOR’s high performance and reliability in the field”.

FN HERSTAL PRESENTS ITS FN® AIRBORNE EXTENDED DIGITAL SUITE AT DSEI 2021

FN HERSTAL PRESENTS ITS FN® AIRBORNE EXTENDED DIGITAL SUITE AT DSEI 2021

FN Herstal, the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of small caliber weapons and integrated weapon systems, will showcase its new FN® Airborne Extended Digital Suite at the DSEI international trade show, London, from 14 to 17 September 2021. This suite further enhances combat capabilities of rotary- and fixed-wing airborne platforms by integrating high-performance equipment such as laser guided and/or unguided rockets from Thales, digital machine gun pods from FN Herstal and EO/IR systems from Safran.

FN HERSTAL: WEAPON SYSTEMS INTEGRATOR

In 2018, FN Herstal introduced its FN® Airborne Digital Suite comprising: the digital FN® D-HUD Head-Up Display, the digital FN® D-PC Pod Controller and the self-contained fixed forward-firing digital FN® D-Pod system.

Today, the Belgium-based company has pushed ahead the development of the Digital Suite that now allows the integration of FN Herstal and Third-Parties equipment onto rotary- and fixed-wing airborne platforms: the FN® Airborne Extended Digital Suite.

Based on the initial infrastructure, the FN® Airborne Extended Digital Suite allows airborne platforms to widen the choice of integrated airborne fixed forward-firing weapon solutions with unprecedented firing capabilities.

Besides the .50 cal machine gun in the FN® D-Pod, lightweight rocket launchers available in 7, 12 or 19 tubes allow a mix of 70mm laser guided and/or unguided rockets (such as FZ231 from Thales Belgium) delivering metric accuracy at extended range (exceeding 7km on static targets) to defeat soft and light armored targets.

The FN® Airborne Extended Digital Suite also accepts EO/IR equipment such as the ultra-long range electrooptical system Euroflir 410™ from Safran incorporating up to 10 sensors.

The FN® Airborne Extended Digital Suite allows the integration of multi-functional displays such as the MDU-268V2 display from Scioteq used to select the armaments and display the digital video from the EO/IR.

The FN® Airborne Extended Digital Suite allows high-value equipment from several different suppliers to be fully integrated. This gives the customer a very wide range of capabilities to choose from, and ensures that they will operate reliably together. FN Herstal, as a weapon systems integrator, once again, has put its expertise and innovation to work to ensure the highest level of operational capability and top quality service for military forces around the world.

Discover the FN® Airborne Extended Digital Suite by visiting FN Herstal’s booth from 14 to 17 September 2021 at DSEI international trade show (Belgian Pavilion, Booth H4 105).
