Smith & Wesson’s Tennessee Move Follows Migration Pattern to States Respecting Firearm Industry Contributions

Smith & Wesson’s Tennessee Move Follows Migration Pattern to States Respecting Firearm Industry Contributions

Smith & Wesson

NEWTOWN, Conn. — The National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®), the firearm industry trade association, noted that the announcement from Smith & Wesson Brands, Inc., of their plan to move their headquarters and a large portion of their operations to Tennessee is just the latest of a series firearm and ammunition manufacturers moving to states with strong Second Amendment traditions. Smith & Wesson announced their plans to relocate headquarters and assembly operations from Springfield, Mass., to Maryville, Tenn.

“This follows a pattern of firearm and ammunition manufacturers that are migrating to states that respect the contributions of the firearm industry and respect the Second Amendment rights of those who purchase their products,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “The decision to expand production by any firearm manufacturer is indicative of the strong and vibrant market of lawful gun ownership. Firearm sales have been at record levels for more than 18 months and this investment in the future shows that the leading firearms manufacturers see a market with continued room for growth.”

Smith & Wesson’s new Tennessee home is familiar with firearm manufacturing. Earlier this year Troy Manufacturing announced it was moving production from West Springfield, Mass, to Clarksville, Tenn. Beretta U.S.A. Corporation moved production from Maryland to Gallatin, Tenn., in 2016 and Barrett Firearms is headquartered in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

Smith & Wesson will add 750 jobs to the state and invest over $125 million to build a new state of the art facility. The firearm industry already employs nearly 7,800 people in Tennessee through direct or indirect jobs and contributes over $1.07 billion in economic impact. The firearm industry pays $130.5 million in federal and state taxes annually and contributed an additional $22.1 million in excise taxes that benefit wildlife conservation.

Smith & Wesson’s announced expansion into Tennessee is the latest of states that respect the rights of law-abiding citizens attracting firearm and ammunition manufacturers to move or expand.

· Alabama

  • · Remington Outdoor Company moved much of its production from New York to Huntsville.
  • · Kimber expanded production to Troy, over Yonkers, N.Y. It later relocated the corporate headquarters to Alabama.

· Iowa

  • · Les Baer moved from restrictive Illinois to LeClaire, Iowa, in 2007.
  • · Lewis Machine & Tool Company (LMT) left Illinois after 40 years to relocate to Iowa in 2019.

· Mississippi

  • · Olin Corporation’s Winchester Ammunition moved from East Alton, Ill., to Oxford in 2011.

· North Carolina

  • · Sturm, Ruger and Co. expanded production in Mayodan in 2013.

· Pennsylvania

· Kahr Arms moved their headquarters to Greely, Penn., from New York after the state rushed through passage of the SAFE Act.

· South Carolina

  • · American Tactical Imports relocated 100 jobs and its manufacturing from Rochester, N.Y., to Summerville, S.C., in 2013.
  • · PTR Industries left Connecticut for Aynor in 2013, where it set up shop.

· Tennessee

  • · Beretta moved firearm production and engineering and design to Gallatin, Tenn., from Maryland in 2015 over concerns of increasingly strict gun control legislation.

· Texas

  • · Mossberg expanded production in Eagle Pass, Texas, in 2013, instead of growing its New Haven, Conn., plant.
  • · Colt Competition moved from Canby, Ore., to Breckenridge, Texas, in 2013.

· Wyoming

  • · Magpul Industries left Boulder, Colo., after the state passed magazine restrictions and moved production to Laramie, Wyo.
  • · Weatherby Inc.’s Adam Weatherby announced at SHOT Show in 2018 he was moving the company from California to Sheridan, Wyo.
  • · Accessories maker HiViz announced in 2013 they were leaving Fort Collins, Colo., over restrictive gun control legislation to Laramie.
  • · Stag Arms announced in 2019 they were opening their new facility in Cheyenne, Wyo., after leaving their former headquarters in New Britain, Conn.

EOTECH® .300 Blackout HWS with Ballistic Reticle

EOTECH® .300 Blackout HWS with Ballistic Reticle

Ann Arbor, MI (September 28, 2021) – The .300 Blackout is an exceptional intermediate cartridge born from special operations’ demands for superior performance over the 5.56 NATO while still using familiar weapon systems. The .300 Blackout delivers flatter trajectories and excellent terminal ballistics with supersonic ammunition or a quiet yet powerful option with subsonic rounds. EOTECH has developed a cartridge-specific optic that maximizes this versatile round.

The EOTECH XPS2-300™ HWS works with both ammo types thanks to a specially calibrated, two-dot ballistic drop reticle. It allows zeroing for both subsonic and supersonic .300 Blackout rounds using the same reticle for instant access to both zeros where and when needed. The XPS2-300 model features a laser-etched ballistic drop diagram on the housing, which provides a quick reference for subsonic and supersonic ammunition drop data.

At only 3.8-inches long and a mere 9-ounces, shooters will love EOTECH’s shortest and lightest HWS sight. Its compact profile pairs perfectly on short-barreled weapon systems such as those used on some .300 Blackout rifles. A single CR123 battery powers the sight, adding to its sleek design. The XPS2-300’s small footprint leaves ample rail space for rear iron sights or magnifiers, making it a go-to mission adaptable holographic weapons system.

The XPS2-300 includes a waterproof housing, long battery life, and 20 daylight brightness settings. User-friendly features like auto battery check and auto shutdown ensure the sight powers up when needed and the large 68MOA ring and (2) 1MOA aiming dots offer uncompromising speed and precision for critical shot placement.

Like all EOTECH products, the XPS2-300 is rugged and reliable. The waterproof, fog-proof, battle-tested sight works even if the sight window breaks or becomes partially obstructed. The EOTECH HWS XPS2 is proudly made in the USA and is backed by EOTECH’s 10-year Prestige Warranty.

Team Federal Finished Strong at the 2021 Microtech Pro-Am 3-Gun Championship

Federal AmmunitionANOKA, Minnesota – September 28, 2021 – Team Federal had an impressive finish at the 2021 Microtech Pro-Am 3-Gun Championship held at the Clinton House Plantation in Clinton, South Carolina, September 24-26. Team Federal finished second place as a Pro-Am team, with team member Tucker Schmidt finishing 2nd overall out of 186 shooters. Federal Ammunition was a Premier Level sponsor of the event.

This Pro-Am style match is intended to introduce new shooters to the world of 3-Gun competitions. There were nine total stages that required competitors to execute their game plan and their fundamentals with rifle, pistol and shotgun. Each amateur is paired with an experienced pro shooter and the pro is encouraged to assist the amateur while shooting.

“Donnie Flowe and the crew at Clinton House Plantation put an amazing event together. The stages were well designed and challenged both pro and amateur shooters to execute their game plan and their fundamentals,” said Federal Shooting Sports Promotions Manager Jason Spradling. “It was really good to see so many amateur shooters express a serious interest in getting involved in 3-Gun competitions.”

Schmidt’s ammunition used at the match included American Eagle 223 Rem. 55-grain FMJ, Federal Gold Medal 223 Rem. 69-grain Sierra MatchKing, Federal Gold Medal Grand 12-gauge loads, and 9mm Major handloads with Federal primers.

“I love taking part in these events and helping newer shooters experience the competition and camaraderie of 3-Gun. It’s so much fun to see them begin to understand the game and apply their skill sets to the challenges of the course,” said Schmidt. “In these matches, there is no room for any kind of malfunction, and misses will kill your score. My Federal ammo performed flawlessly all three days and I was able to earn a second place trophy, just a couple of points behind the leader.”

RCBS® Launches New and Improved Reloading App

RCBS® Launches New and Improved Reloading App

RCBS App for iOS and Android Puts More Precision at Shooters’ Fingertips

OROVILLE, Calif. – September 28, 2021 – RCBS®, the leading manufacturer of ammunition reloading equipment for rifles and pistols, is pleased to announce the launch of its new and improved RCBS app, now available to download free for both Apple and Android devices.

The recently released app goes above and beyond with the ability to work across the entire lineup of RCBS Bluetooth-enabled dispensers: MatchMaster, ChargeMaster Supreme and ChargeMaster Link. With the app at a user’s fingertips, calibrating any of these dispensers is a breeze.

Once calibrated, a user can go straight to dispensing, entering in powder information and required dispensation weights. When paired with the MatchMaster, dispensing can be completely customized as well. Each loading session provides intelligent feedback, including notations on over- and under-charges, length of the session, and number of charges thrown, all of which aids the shooter during future loading sessions.

At the range, the RCBS app’s “Load Log” tracks the progress of your reloading / handloading process. Start by creating a firearm profile with make, model, cartridge, round count, rate of twist, scope manufacturer, scope height, free-bore length and any other data that might affect accuracy. Then create a new load profile, entering critical load data such as:

Bullet manufacturer, model, weight and dimensions
Powder charge weight and dispenser device information
Powder manufacturer, type, lot number, production date and date the container was first opened
Primer manufacturer and type
Case manufacturer, trim-to length, neck thickness, overall length, annealing temperature and time, total firings per case, and total firings per case between annealings

The app also allows a shooter to enter range conditions including range name, date, temperature, humidity, elevation, barometric pressure, latitude and longitude, and wind (cardinal wind direction, clock wind direction and wind speed). From there it’s all about shooting and recording groups. Users can upload photos – groups, changes to cases post-firing, etc. – for future reference. With the virtual “Reloading Bench,” users can also keep track of all their RCBS products.

“We’re pretty excited about the new app and how complete it is,” said Will Hemeyer, senior product manager for RCBS. “You can use it all or in part. The new app is a perfect way to let shooters wring every benefit they can from their RCBS dispenser and, in turn, help perfect their custom load so that each bullet has unparalleled repeatability.”

The new RCBS app comes with phone and email tech support, so shooters have easy access to assistance at home or in the field. To learn more about the RCBS app or to see the full lineup of Bluetooth-enabled RCBS products, visit RCBS.com.

Northrop Grumman’s LEO Satellite Payload for DARPA Revolutionizes Positioning, Navigation and Timing

Northrop Grummans LEO Satellite Payload for DARPA Revolutionizes Positioning Navigation and TimingLINTHICUM, Md. and WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. – Sept. 16, 2021 – The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Blackjack program has awarded Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) a contract for Phase 2 development of an advanced, software-defined positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) payload, with options to build units destined for space flight.

Northrop Grumman’s advanced, software-enabled positioning, navigation and timing payload has been developed to keep forces on target in difficult environments against advanced threats – even if the availability of existing satellite navigation systems are degraded or denied.

The PNT payload work is led by Northrop Grumman’s Future PNT Systems Operating Unit in Woodland Hills. The team supports the DARPA Tactical Technology Office’s goal of achieving capable, resilient and affordable national security space capabilities from low Earth orbit (LEO).

“Northrop Grumman’s software-defined Positioning, Navigation and Timing technology will offer military users an agile new signal from LEO that is not dependent on existing satellite navigation systems,” said Dr. Nicholas Paraskevopoulos, chief technology officer and sector vice president, emerging capabilities development, Northrop Grumman. “Warfighters depend on assured PNT for traditional missions like force projection and joint operations, but also for emerging autonomous and distributed missions.

The PNT payload features Northrop Grumman’s Software Enabled Reconfigurable Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Embedded Architecture for Navigation and Timing (SERGEANT) capability. The Phase 2 development effort is valued at $13.3 million if all options are exercised through emulation, critical design and build.

Northrop Grumman solves the toughest problems in space, aeronautics, defense and cyberspace to meet the ever evolving needs of our customers worldwide. Our 90,000 employees define possible every day using science, technology and engineering to create and deliver advanced systems, products and services.

DC Project Announces 5 Featured Speakers at AMM-CON 2021

DC PROJECT ANNOUNCES 5 FEATURED SPEAKERS AT AMM-CON 2021

Women for Gun Rights

Indiana, PA – (September 27, 2021) – The DC Project, a grassroots organization of women volunteers who span America and advocate for the Second Amendment by sharing their individual experiences as responsible gun owners and who are dedicated to education, not legislation, today announced that the 2021 Alternative Mass Media Conventions (AMM-CON) will feature five of their delegates as featured speakers. The fifth annual workshop will take place at the Westin Dallas/Fort Worth hotel from October 2-3, 2021. AMM-CON is an educational workshop hosted by The Polite Society Podcast, Self Defense Radio Network, and presented by the Second Amendment Foundation. The event provides pro-gun media with effective journalism techniques, education about activism, and dialogue on important pro-2A topics.

According to DC Project founder Dianna Muller, “We are thrilled that so many of our DC Project representatives will be on-hand to provide useful Second Amendment-supporting educational content throughout AMM-CON 2021. As we continue our ‘Women for Gun Rights’ mission, we’re thankful that the Second Amendment Foundation recognizes how crucial it is to dispel the misinformation about gun ownership that is so prevalent in the anti-gun community and everyday life.”

“The DC Project women presenting during AMM-CON 2021 are the brightest voices and some of the most compelling speakers in our ranks,” said Muller. “We’re proud of their tireless activism in preserving our right to bear arms.”

Alan Gottlieb, Founder of the Second Amendment Foundation, said, “We must hold ourselves to a higher standard than the local and national media when it comes to communicating pro-firearm issues. That’s why this event is so important for media members, content creators, and anyone connected to the 2A community.” AMM-CON provides education designed to improve the effectiveness of pro-gun messaging. “Folks who attend will leave with useful tools to help them reach their combined audience of tens of millions of Americans,” he added. “We’re taking the lead on Second Amendment media education and are thankful for the contributions from the DC Project.”

  • Cheryl Todd, DC Project Arizona State Director, AMM-CON Co-Emcee
  • Cheryl Todd is the Executive Producer and Co-Host of Gun Freedom Radio. A wife, mother, and grandmother, Todd speaks to the value of our Second Amendment rights through the lens of self-protection and instilling those values in future generations.
  • Amanda Suffecool, DC Project Regional Director, AMM-CON Co-Emcee
  • Amanda Suffecool is a degreed engineer who spends her spare time sharing her love of the country, the U.S. Constitution, and specifically the Second Amendment with others. She is the director of the non-profit group REALIZE Firearms Awareness Coalition and the producer of its flagship educational program, a Q&A radio show about guns.
  • Rebecca Schmoe, DC Project Kansas State Director, SpokesMom for 1 Million Moms Against Gun Control
  • Rebecca Schmoe believes that together individual liberty and personal responsibility build the foundation of our inherent rights; and that, when coupled with education, will do more for safety and freedom than any legislation our elected representatives can offer. She will speak on ‘Finding and Using Your Unique Voice’ during AMM-CONN.
  • Ashley Hlebinsky, DC Project Texas Delegate, Firearms Historian
  • Ashley Hlebinsky is one of the foremost authorities on firearms history, technology, and culture in the United States. Their podcast and YouTube channel discuss 2A advocacy, current events, cultural issues and have bilingual discussions on Constitutional Rights and the Founding Documents. They will speak about ‘Avoiding Cultural Landmines.’

About the DC Project

The DC Project affirms that firearms safety and violence prevention are achieved through education, not legislation. We encourage the preservation of America’s gun culture and highlight the diversity and rising demographic of female gun owners through ongoing advocacy because gun rights are women’s rights. According to Muller, “We believe that self-defense is a human right and that we are our own first responders. We understand the importance of preserving the right to protect ourselves. Members of our foundation regularly stand before legislators and lawmakers on the frontlines of this battle to protect this crucial right and make their voices heard through education. Stand with us by donating to the DC Project and wear the color teal to let others know you support the rights of responsible gun owners too.”

B.E. MEYERS & CO., INC. ANNOUNCES JARED RESTON AS LATEST BRAND AMBASSADOR

(Redmond, WA)–B.E. Meyers & Co., Inc. is proud to announce the addition of Jared Reston to their team of Brand Ambassadors. Reston brings over 20-years of law enforcement experience, with over 16-years as full-time SWAT, and over 10-years as a trainer leading his company Reston Group, to B.E. Meyers and Company’s team of Brand Ambassadors.

“I am proud to be named in the same sentence as B.E. Meyers & Co., Chuck Pressburg, Bill Blowers, and the rest of the Brand Ambassador team,” said Reston. “Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office was one of the early agencies to adopt the MAWL™, and I’ve been a believer ever since. I run MAWL on everything for several reasons: I’m a lefty and the ambidextrous controls are a huge advantage for me; I’ve never run out of distance with the MAWL, even at 500-yard engagement Special Precision Rifle engagements; and I’ve never found the edge with a MAWL – it’s like turning on the lights in any engagement. It’s great to be associated with a brand like B.E. Meyers & Co. that makes products for you and the guys you respect.”

Reston began his law enforcement career as a patrol officer with Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office in 2000.  In 2004 Reston became a member of JSO’s full-time SWAT Team, where he trained in waterborne insertion and interdiction, K9 tactics, CQB, explosive breaking, less lethal, sniper, and assault tactics. Additionally, Reston served as an assigned Detective in the Department of Homeland Security/ Gang Investigations unit, and as the assistant team leader, and lead firearms instructor for the SWAT team. His career includes the successful completion of over one thousand SWAT missions.

In 2008, Reston was involved in a shoot-out with a shop lifter.  Although Reston was hit seven times, he was able to return fire, ending the encounter and the effectively stopping the shooter. “Luck made the bullets not kill me, mindset kept me in the fight, skill made me win,” said Reston. For his bravery and skill, Reston was awarded The President of the United States’ “Medal of Valor”, American Police and Hall of Fame’s “National Police Officer of the Year”, Fraternal Order of Police’s “Florida Police Officer of the Year”, and the State of Florida’s “Law Enforcement Officer of the Year.”

While traveling the country and recounting this incident, Reston came to realize officers did not have the same multi-faceted training that had saved his life. This observation was the catalyst for Reston to found Reston Group, LLC, a training company focused on sharing his knowledge and experience in resolving lethal force incidents to help law enforcement, military, and responsible citizens sharpen their mindset, skills, and ultimately help save lives.

“Jared has provided both invaluable training and feedback on one of our core small arms solutions, the MAWL. His level of knowledge and expertise elevate him within the community of subject matter experts,” said Matthew Meyers, CEO of B.E. Meyers & Co. “We’re excited to add Jared to our team of Brand Ambassadors.”

Reston now works for Safariland, LLC as an Account Manager, in addition to his role as Founder and Lead Trainer of Reston Group, LLC.

Curtiss-Wright Adds Kinetica Software Support to the PacStar® 453 GPU Module for Intelligent Sensor Data Analytics

COMBINATION OF PACSTAR 453 NVIDIA GPU MODULE WITH KINETICA VECTORIZED DATABASE SOFTWARE DELIVERS POWERFUL SOLUTION FOR INTELLIGENT SENSOR DATA ANALYTICS AT THE TACTICAL EDGE

PacStar 453 NVIDIA GPU Module with Kinetica vectorized database softwareASHBURN, Va. – September 22, 2021 – Curtiss-Wright’s Defense Solutions division today announced that its PacStar business, a leading developer and supplier of advanced communications solutions for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), has added support for Kinetica vectorized database software on its PacStar 453 NVIDIA GPU Enhanced Server Module. The PacStar 453 is a tactical edge, high-performance compute platform for tactical and distributed deployment of video and AI applications. Support for Kinetica software brings advanced AI/ML capabilities to systems based on the PacStar 400-Series family of small communications modules. Kinetica can quickly ingest and correlate objects across sensors, building feature-rich entities. This enables military operators to deepen their data analysis capabilities and increase their situational awareness across the edge of the battlefield by combining functions currently performed by multiple isolated systems into a cloud platform that produces real-time intelligence for leadership.

“Kinetica brings a new class of vectorized database processing and analysis to the edge of the battlefield to deliver the secure, high-speed data replication capability needed to realize the DoD’s vision of JADC2 and ABMS applications such as Pattern of Life (POL) data processing and mobile cloud computing,” said Chris Wiltsey, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions division. “When hosted on our rugged size, weight and power (SWaP) optimized PacStar 453 module, the combination provides a deployable solution for high performance cloud-based data analytics in the field.”

“Designed to process massive volumes of sensor data, the PacStar 453 is an ideal AI and video processing platform for the tactical edge,” said Peggy Miller, Senior General Manager, PacStar Business Unit, Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions division. “Because Kinetica works with cloud services, such as Microsoft Azure Government cloud and Amazon Web Services GovCloud, it can connect sensor data from all military branches into a single network.”

About Kinetica Software
Kinetica software is purpose built for the unique requirements and demands of analyzing data across space and time. It quickly processes huge data sets because it is predicated on data level parallelism that processes all of the data simultaneously with a single instruction. That means Kinetica can process intelligent sensor data analytics at speeds rated more than 1000x faster than traditional task level parallelism. The software uses industry standard Structured Query Language (SQL) to query and analyze billions of rows of data in a matter of microseconds.

Kinetica optimally routes query processing in each node across CPUs and GPUs for fastest results. At the core of Kinetica is a distributed, columnar, memory-first database designed for workloads that combine task level and data level parallelism to achieve orders of magnitude performance gains versus task parallelism alone. Data is stored across multiple nodes for parallel processing, and the most frequently used data is pre-loaded into RAM to eliminate IO bottlenecks.

Kinetica on the PacStar 453
The PacStar 453 provides system integrators with an ideal tactical server for hosting Kinetica software. The NVIDIA GPU enhanced deployable, rugged, small form factor server delivers best-in-class performance combined with rugged environmental protection. The module’s small footprint enables Kinetica software to be deployed in small vehicles or even backpack-based deployments.

The PacStar 453 is the heart of the recently introduced PacStar Tactical Fusion System (TFS), a COTS-based, modular, tactical and expeditionary, rugged processing and data distribution node for sensor-enabled platforms. PacStar TFS combines the PacStar 453 module with additional network route/switch, storage and wireless modules to provide a single compact solution for cloud connectivity and replication, and local processing of large datasets in realtime. This type of tactical and expeditionary rugged data center is capable of hosting mission command, cloud/storage, sensor fusion, AI and analytics applications.

About PacStar 453
The PacStar 453, a supported platform for Kinetica software, enables the deployment of video and artificial intelligence (AI) applications in environments with disconnected, intermittent and limited connectivity to networks providing cloud and headquarters data access. The module is based on the powerful and proven PacStar 451 server platform that features Intel Xeon D processing, up to 128 GB RAM, 30 TB storage, and 10 GbE SFP+ ports, combining high-power general-purpose computing with a PCIe connected NVIDIA GPU with 512 CUDA cores. The new module is a key component in ensuring access to mission critical data processing, while maintaining SWaP requirements unmatched by other COTS appliances.

Curtiss-Wright’s PacStar business offers a wide array of system packaging options for PacStar 400-Series, including briefcase, transit case, rack mount, vehicle mount, and backpack transport.

Curtiss-Wright’s PacStar products are manufactured in its facility in Portland, Oregon.

Unruly Passenger Rate Drops, But Remains Too High

FAA logo

Unruly Passenger Graph w/Data

Unruly Passenger Rate Drops, But Remains Too High

WASHINGTON — The rate of unruly passenger incidents on commercial flights has dropped sharply since the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) launched its Zero Tolerance campaign but the rate remains too high, according to new data released today.

“Our work is having an impact and the trend is moving in the right direction. But we need the progress to continue. This remains a serious safety threat, and one incident is one too many,” said FAA Administrator Steve Dickson. “The FAA will continue its Zero Tolerance policy, keep its public awareness campaign going, and keep pushing and partnering with everyone in the aviation system to do more. We appreciate the tremendous work of all our partners in the airline, airport, labor, and law enforcement communities.”

As of last week, unruly passenger incidents were occurring approximately six times per every 10,000 flights. That’s an approximately 50 percent drop from early 2021, but it’s more than twice as high as the end of 2020. Since the FAA launched its public awareness campaign with memes and two public service announcements, the rate has fallen approximately 30 percent. View a graphic with the data.

Using its full legal authority to deter this dangerous behavior, the FAA adopted a zero-tolerance policy toward unruly passengers in January 2021. Under this policy, the FAA no longer issues warning letters. Instead, it moves directly to fines, which have totaled $1.1 million to date. In addition to its public service announcement videos and memes, the agency has asked airports to help educate passengers that they cannot consume alcohol on board that they purchase at restaurants and shops in the airport or that is not served by a flight attendant.

Later this month, the FAA plans to host unruly-passenger working sessions with key aviation stakeholders. The FAA will ask members of the aviation system to share best practices and to identify additional steps they and the U.S. government can take to reduce the unruly incident rate further.

Detailed current data on these incidents is available on our unruly passenger website. Press releases about individual cases, and the work the FAA has done to get the word out about the consequences passengers face, is available in our unruly passenger toolkit.

“It is extremely exciting to team up with Beretta to gift a waterfowl hunt to a new hunter,” Karen Butler, Founder and President of Shoot Like A Girl, said. “This will be an amazing experience for one lucky winner to sit in a duck blind, watch the ducks work their way to the decoys, and see our Shoot Like A Girl dogs at work. We are looking forward to sharing the passion of Beretta and hunting with our winner.”

Contest Details

For the chance to win a hunt of a lifetime, entrants must complete the online entry form in its entirety and nominate either a friend or themselves for the grand prize by submitting a brief “essay” detailing the reason for the nomination within a 1000 character limit. Shoot Like A Girl and Beretta will read all submissions carefully. After the conclusion of the essay entries, the top ten (10) will be selected and voting will open for seven (7) days to select the winner. Entrants or nominees must be 21 years of age or older at the time of entry, must be a legal resident of the United States and have no criminal background (background checks will be conducted for grand-prize winner). The winner will also be required to sign a model release form, so that any photos or video from the hunt can be used online.

While everyone is encouraged to enter and all entries will be considered, Shoot Like A Girl and Beretta are specifically looking for an individual who is new to hunting or has never hunted before. The contest opens on September 23, 2021 and ends October 5, 2021 at 11:59 pm EST. Following the completion of the online essay entry portion, the top ten entrants will be contacted and the Top Ten voting opens online on the Shoot Like A Girl website on October 8 and runs through October 14, 2021. The winner is to be announced on October 15. Full terms and conditions are also available online.

Prizes

While only one winner will receive a hunt packet from Shoot Like A Girl and Beretta, second place winner will receive a $200 promocode to spend on the Beretta e-store, a third place winner will receive a $100 promocode to spend on the Beretta e-store and remaining fourth through tenth place winners will receive a Shoot Like A Girl Hat co-branded with Beretta logo and Beretta Engraved Mug.

Team Federal Shooter Derrick Mein Wins USA Shooting Trap National Championship

ANOKA, Minnesota – September 23, 2021 – Federal Ammunition team shooter, Men’s Trap 2020 Olympian and defending Sporting Clays National Champion Derrick Mein has won again. This time he took top honors at the U.S. Olympic Trap Championships at Hillsdale College September 8-19. Mein continued his winning ways by qualifying 3rd with a 237/250. He then shot 45/50 in the final to win by one bird and claim National Champion.

Hillsdale College hosted the 2021 U.S. National Olympic Skeet and Trap Championships at its John Anthony Halter Shooting Sports Education Center. The match boasted some of the best skeet and trap shooters in the country, including several Olympic athletes including Mein who competed in Tokyo during the postponed 2020 games.

“Derrick is one of the most talented all-around shooters in the world.” said Federal VP of Marketing Jason Nash. “To be able to go from winning the 2020 National Sporting Clays Championship to competing in International Trap for the USA is an incredible accomplishment. He continues to impress with this recent win, coming fresh off his win at the Minnesota HOA State Sporting Clays shoot.”

Mein shoots Federal Gold Medal Papers and the new High Over All (HOA) load—the best plastic competition load on the market.
