2022 Undersea Warfare Spring Conference

Abstracts Now Accepted | January 21 Deadline

The National Defense Industrial Association’s (NDIA) Undersea Warfare Division invites authors of high-quality professional abstracts to submit their work for technical presentation at the 2022 Undersea Warfare Spring Conference, scheduled for March 28 – 30, 2022, in San Diego, CA. Each abstract must be UNCLASSIFIED and cleared for public release with unlimited distribution (Distribution A). Each abstract should fit into one of the following Technical Sessions:

  • Aviation Systems
  • C4I
  • Combat Systems
  • Mine Warfare
  • Undersea Sensors
  • Undersea Vehicles
  • Warfighter Performance

Individuals are required to submit a concise abstract of 5,000 characters or less by Friday, January 21. Authors will be notified whether their abstract has been accepted by January 28. Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information

The 2022 Undersea Warfare Spring Conference planning team continues to monitor the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) situation as the health of our event participants, members, and partners remains our top priority. We are committed to following the guidelines and precautions as outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Attendees can expect to see the following at the 2022 Undersea Warfare Spring Conference:

PROOF OF VACCINATION: All attendees will be required to provide proof of vaccination within 72 hours prior to badge pick-up or a negative COVID-19 test administered by a medical professional.
MASKS: Fully vaccinated attendees are encouraged to wear face masks but, in accordance with CDC guidance, may make that choice for themselves. If you are not fully vaccinated, you are required to wear a face mask in public places.
WAIVER: All registrants are required to sign the COVID-19 waiver during the online registration process. Attendees may disclose their vaccination status at the time of signing.
SOCIAL DISTANCING: Additional venue space will be available to allow for attendees to spread out. Additional breaks have been added to allow for air circulation.

A quiet magnetic closure gives you fast, one-handed access to your glass. Highlighting Longstanding Conservation Partnerships with Industries, State Agencies and USFWS

NEWTOWN, Conn. — NSSF®, the trade association for the firearm industry, has added a third “Partner with a Payer®” video to its website featuring Nevada’s Clark County Shooting Complex – a partnership of the Nevada Department of Wildlife and Clark County.

Video content features a variety of offerings available at the facility and highlights the volunteers and roles they fill in hunting, archery, angler and wildlife education. Hunter education is supported by excise taxes paid by firearm, ammunition and archery manufacturers on their products. The video, “Hunter Ed and Volunteers,” focuses on some of the benefits made available by this irreplaceable funding source in addition to the many volunteers that provide an amazing workforce in conducting these education programs.

NSSF participates in the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service’s “Partner with a Payer” initiative in order to strengthen ties between all excise tax-paying manufacturers—firearms and ammunition, archery equipment, marine and sportfishing equipment—and the state agencies that use these funds to conserve wildlife and habitats through the Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration program of USFWS.

Since 1937 when the Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration Act was enacted (today better known as the Pittman-Robertson Act), the manufacturers of firearms, ammunition and archery equipment have been part of a network consisting of sportsmen and women, state fish and wildlife agencies and USFWS to collect and distribute excise taxes—some $14 billion during this period—on their products for the benefit of wildlife conservation, hunter education and shooting ranges. Mentioning that 776 ranges have been either built or enhanced using these funds since 2014, Cliff Schleusner, Southwest Regional Manager, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service credits manufacturers as the cornerstone of this model.

NSSF President and CEO Joe Bartozzi said, “It is an incredible model of conservation funding that benefits all Americans, not just hunters and target shooters, and helps ensure sustainable wildlife and habitat for future generations. Our industry’s contributions to this program are something we’ve long been proud of, and we want the employees of companies and state agencies to be also, which is why we’re proud to be involved with the Partner with a Payer program.”

The Partner with a Payer initiative was developed to help generations of workers in the industry, state agencies and USFWS better understand this public-private partnership, the roles industry, wildlife agencies and recreational shooters play in it and the benefits everyone shares in.

Partner with a Payer also arranges for industry employees to see conservation science taking place in the field, such as at black bear research projects. “These connections between industry professionals and state agency scientists and researchers build long-lasting appreciation for each other’s work and also the funding that makes so much of what we enjoy possible,” said Bartozzi.

There are more videos highlighting additional aspects of this unique public-private partnership that will be added to the site in the weeks to come. The videos were produced by Shine United LLC / Kingdom Filmworks for the National Shooting Sports Foundation through a Multistate Conservation Grant awarded by the Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration Programs of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

This ensures bright, true-to-life colors for easier recognition of game and makes the Broadhead as effective at sunrise as it is at midday. Additionally, the built-in ACTIVSYNC™ display automatically changes from black in bright light to red in low-light conditions, so users can always see their readings.

The Broadhead comes equipped with Scan mode for constant ranges, as well as near/far target modes to allow users to hone in on targets while ignoring objects in the foreground and background. The rangefinder also comes equipped with ARC (Angle Range Compensation) technology, which accounts for terrain angle in the field and gives bowhunters the “real” effective range on challenging uphill and downhill shots.

The Coveted Short-Barrel Colt Python is Back

West Hartford, CT (Jan. 5, 2022) – Often dubbed the “finest production revolver ever made,” the Colt Python built a cult following among wheel gun enthusiasts. In 2020, Colt relaunched its famous Python revolver with two-barrel length options—a 4.25-inch and a 6-inch. And after more than a twenty-year production hiatus, this announcement was music to shooters’ ears. However, collectors still longed for the 3-inch model. Well, the wait is over – a production 3-inch Python is back in 2022!

Like all Colt Pythons, the 3-inch barreled version is chambered for the powerful .357 magnum and features a 6-round cylinder. Cosmetically, these new models look like the original revolvers. Its semi-bright stainless steel finished barrel and frame contrast with stunning walnut grips. The grip’s shape, deep checkering and inlaid golden Colt logo are reminiscent of the classic. Its ribbed top strap and full-length underlug are unchanged from the original.

Pythons are double- and single-action guns with a spurred hammer. The silky-smooth trigger pull on a Colt Python is second to none and is part of why these premium revolvers have such outstanding accuracy. Your needs have always been the driving force here at MDT. Initially, our emphasis was on chassis systems; however, after creating several unique designs, our engineers developed a suite of non-chassis products like scope bases, magazines, scope rings, rails, and grips.

Why grips? Initially, we offered the Hogue grip, which is a good piece of kit. Still, the desire to make grips tailored to precision rifle shooting motivated our engineers to develop and build something in-house with a clear focus on precision. Not only would developing our own grip allow us to control the supply chain and get products to you quicker, but it would also allow us to upgrade our models and adapt based on your feedback.

So what is the next chapter in The MDT Grip story? We recently launched wood, and carbon fiber versions of our MDT Pistol Grip Elite (seen below). And we are looking at new materials for lighter and more robust products. Our study of human anatomy and morphology is never-ending, and we will have a lot more to offer in the coming years, stay tuned!

Thankfully, Nomad’s Conifer NXT Line is designed specifically for these moments.

The Nomad Conifer NXT Jacket and Bibs provide maximum protection and superior huntability in harsh winter conditions. Boasting a whopping 35K waterproofness and 15K breathability rating in their windproof shells, the jacket and bibs feature three unique layers that keep cold winds, rain and snow out while allowing sweat and condensation to dissipate through the shell. The jacket and bibs utilize sound-limiting fabrics that make them virtually silent, while their generous cut makes for easy layering.
