RAFAEL’S C-DOME BEING PRESENTED AT NEDS 2022 AFTER SUCCESFUL TEST ABOARD SAAR 6 CORVETTE
Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd., with the Israeli Navy, and the Israel Ministry of Defense IMDO completed an advanced interception test of the C-DOME Naval Iron Dome System. The C-DOME is an advanced naval configuration of RAFAEL’s IRON DOME aerial defense system and is operated from the Missile Ship (INS) ‘Oz’ from the Sa’ar 6 ‘Magen’ Class Corvette.
As part of the interception test, the system was installed on the INS ‘Oz’ corvette, the second of four advanced missile corvettes received by the Israeli Navy in the last two years. Operationalizing the system constitutes a significant milestone in enhancing the capabilities of the corvettes.

NSSF Challenges Delaware, N.J., ‘Public Nuisance’ Laws Allowing Frivolous Claims Against Firearm Manufacturers
WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, filed suits against the attorneys general of Delaware and New Jersey, challenging recently-enacted “public nuisance” laws in both states that are “specifically designed to evade the judgment of Congress – and the Constitution.”
Both Delaware and New Jersey enacted public nuisance laws allowing the state and private parties to sue firearm manufacturers for the harm caused by the criminal misuse of lawfully sold firearms. In 2005, Congress barred these sorts of baseless lawsuits when it passed the bipartisan Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA). Delaware and New Jersey’s laws are preempted by the PLCAA under the U.S. Constitution’s Supremacy Clause.
Public nuisance lawsuits brought by municipalities against members of the firearm industry arose in the late 1990s and early 2000s to “regulate through litigation.” None of those dozens of lawsuits, including those by Wilmington, Del., and Newark, Camden County and the City of Camden, N.J., were successful. These municipal lawsuits intended to bankrupt the industry members or, through the massive cost of litigation, force them to accept settlement agreements that contained gun control provisions rejected by Congress and not supported by the American public. Delaware and New Jersey’s new laws are a blatant and unconstitutional attempt to return to an era of “regulation through litigation.”
“These laws enacted by the Delaware and New Jersey flout the will of Congress and undermine the U.S. Constitution,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “These state laws are at odds with bedrock principles of American law, which does not hold manufacturers and sellers legally responsible for the actions of criminals and remote third parties over whom the manufacturer and seller has no control when they misuse lawfully sold products.”
Delaware and New Jersey’s laws also violate the First Amendment, Second Amendment, Due Process Clause and Commerce Clause. These laws would impose liability on industry members for firearms lawfully sold in other states that later find their way into Delaware or New Jersey through the independent actions of remote third parties and criminals.
These laws are in violation of the PLCAA, the bipartisan law Congress intended to stop these frivolous claims. Its constitutionality has been upheld by every appellate court in the nation to consider the issue.
The PLCAA simply codified black letter law. The PLCAA keeps activist lawyers from placing the blame on members of the firearm industry for the criminal misuse of legal firearms lawfully manufactured and sold. No other industry in America had been targeted by such baseless, politically motivated lawsuits.
NSSF is also filing motions for preliminary injunction to stop the states from enforcing these laws.

Fiocchi, a global leader in defensive, target, and hunting ammunition, announced today the selection of a 281-acre site in the Port of Little Rock, Arkansas for a new ammunition primer manufacturing facility, expanding its operations presence in Little Rock. Representing a $41.5 million investment and a 120-person workforce expansion, the new production operation will pave the way for future growth in Arkansas and provide much-needed primer supply relief for the broader ammunition manufacturing segment.
The new facility will be one of only six primer manufacturing operations in the U.S. and the only dedicated lead-free primer plant in the world. Fiocchi evaluated five locations across three states for the expansion. Little Rock was selected as the preferred location after a thorough site selection search that evaluated real estate compatibility, logistical infrastructure, workforce capability, and support from state and local leadership.
This new initiative follows three major acquisitions by Fiocchi over the last two years, including premium shotshell manufacturers Baschieri & Pellagri and Lyalvale Express, plus a division of Grandeur Fasteners of Little Rock, AR. The latter provided Fiocchi the opportunity to stand up the expansive Little Rock Operations and to pave the way for the new primer manufacturing facility.

Illinois State Rifle Association Range
WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, is pleased to announce it has awarded the Illinois State Rifle Association Range its Five-Star rating for range excellence. The Five-Star rating is the highest in the NSSF Star Rating System, which evaluates how ranges succeed in the areas of management, shooting sports development, appearance and amenities.
“The Illinois State Rifle Association Range excels in all aspects of running a modern public shooting facility—one that caters to a diverse clientele and provides consistent and rewarding customer experiences,” said Zach Snow, NSSF Director, Member Development. “The support it receives from association volunteers stands out. Without these volunteers, the range could not efficiently host as many organized shooting activities as it does.”
“We are honored and pleased to have received a Five-Star Range rating,” said Richard Pearson, Executive Director of ISRA. “We will continue to improve the ISRA Range in every way. This is not an end but a beginning.”
Located near the small city of Kankakee—about an hour’s drive south from greater Chicago—the ISRA Range is an impressive facility by any measure. The range has more than 250 firing positions spread over 12 ranges and classroom facilities to support a full calendar of training and educational offerings.
Notably, the range is largely run by volunteers who are members of ISRA; many serve as range safety officers. The facility inspires members to give back to an organization that has worked diligently to protect the rights of state gun owners to own and use their firearms responsibly. “I can’t say enough about the members who are volunteering their time to operate and maintain this outstanding facility,” said Pearson. “Without them, the range would not exist. “
Because of its many facilities, the ISRA Range caters to all types of recreational shooters and is host to many state and national matches. The range includes a 50-yard pistol range, 100-yard and 100-meter rifle ranges, 300-yard rifle range and 25-yard training ranges. In addition, there is a shotgun range, 3-gun shooting range, archery range and an indoor air-gun range. The ranges feature keycard access.
Training classes are hugely popular and are offered in basic and advanced pistol, rifle, shotgun concealed carry.
More than 2,000 members take advantage of the facility, which offers many leagues and opportunities for competition. There’s a high-power competition on the 200- and 300-yard ranges and leagues for black powder, combat, benchrest, bullseye, Glock, smallbore, Steel Challenge and others. Matches and fun shoots are also offered for youth and women’s-only. Range membership dues are separate from membership in the ISRA.

GA-ASI TEAMS WITH SMX TO WIN ARIES TASK ORDER AND CONTINUE AFRICOM SUPPORT
SAN DIEGO – 14 October 2022 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) and its MQ-9A Remotely Piloted Aircraft will continue to support prime contractor SMX who was recently awarded a task order to provide U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance (ISR) mission and intelligence analysis operations. GA-ASI is a major subcontractor to SMX for the AFRICOM Reconnaissance Intelligence Exploitation Services (ARIES) task order with an estimated value of $2.3 billion (inclusive of option periods).
The new award has a seven-year period of performance and will allow SMX and its teaming partners to extend their support through 2029 if all option periods are exercised. The contract will cover continued ISR services for AFRICOM using six MQ-9As produced by GA-ASI, which will make up three lines with two aircraft each. The MQ-9As are supplied by GA-ASI as part of a Company-Owned, Company-Operated (COCO) lease agreement. GA-ASI is the world’s leading manufacturer of RPA systems, radars, and electro-optic and related mission systems solutions.
