Their latest release, the ProTac® Rail Mount VIR® Pro USB, aims to bridge the gap between standard white light and specialized night-vision operations.
Here is a sneak peek at what to expect in my upcoming full-length review of this new multi-fuel powerhouse.
1. The Power Specs: More Than Just Bright
At its core, the VIR Pro is a dual-spectrum beast. In the white-light department, it pushes a staggering 1,100 lumens and 40,000 candela. On paper, that’s a 400-meter beam distance—plenty for PID (Positive Identification) at the edge of most carbine ranges.
But the “VIR” in the name stands for Visible/Infrared. By simply toggling the head-mounted switch, you transition to a 940nm IR LED (2,300mW on high). This is where the light truly shines for the night-vision community. It provides enough IR flood to illuminate a dark wood line without the blooming effect that lower-quality IR illuminators often cause.
2. Clever Design: The “Jack-Cap” & Safety Cutoff
One of the most impressive physical features is the Jack-Cap® tail cap. It offers built-in switch redundancy, meaning you can use the standard push-button or plug in the included remote pressure switch without swapping parts.
Streamlight also addressed a major concern:-accidental white-light NDs (Negligent Discharges). The VIR Pro features an integrated cutoff that prevents the white light from activating if the selector is set to IR. When you’re running under goggles and need to stay dark, this safety feature is a literal lifesaver.
3. Reliability & Fuel Versatility
In the full review, I’ll be commenting on its Multi-Fuel capability. The USB model comes with the SL-B26® rechargeable battery pack, but it will also happily run on two CR123A lithium batteries.

The construction is classic Streamlight: 6000-series machined aircraft aluminum, IPX7 waterproof (1 meter for 30 minutes), and extensively tested. Whether it’s mounted to a Picatinny rail or using the included M-LOK® adapter, the mounting system is rock solid.

Modularity is built into the BDE .36 from the outset. The suppressor features a serialized entrance chamber and removable titanium baffle sections, allowing shooters to quickly and safely adjust overall length, weight, and back pressure. This modular approach allows for precise tuning for pistols, including 9mm, and rifle calibers such as 5.56/.223 and 7.62/.308, enabling one suppressor to serve multiple platforms and mission requirements without compromise.
Materials and manufacturing philosophy mirror PWS’s broader BDE family. The internal baffle core is produced using Direct Metal Fusion with aerospace-grade titanium, while the exterior receives a hard PVD coating for enhanced wear resistance. The internal baffle design employs taper-threaded, symmetric notches to aid alignment, prevent carbon locking, and ensure repeatable performance over thousands of rounds. Removable cores and material choices allow customers and armorers to fine-tune suppression, weight, and back pressure to match specific weapon systems.

Sustaining drone operations at scale has become one of the defining challenges of modern warfare. Admittedly, I am more of a rifle junkie than a shotgun enthusiast, but I can appreciate a good shotgun. I grew up hunting waterfowl and upland game in the western U.S., and for the most part, I could do everything I needed with any classic pump shotgun.
With time, and more mature tastes, I’ve broadened my inventory of shotguns. Over/under shotguns carry a little more attitude and bring a little more class to the game. Almost like K-cans, sports cars, and expensive glasses, they tend to be more of a luxury item.

Free, hands-on range time of BHA’s big-bore tactical firearms and W.T.F.’s suppressor line will take place in Cheyenne, Wyoming, March 6 – 8, 2026.

Cody, Wyo. (February 2026) – Big Horn Armory (BHA), makers of big-bore firearms, , will partner with Wyoming Tactical Firearms (W.T.F) for the Laramie County Sportsman’s Expo Presented by Bish’s RV, March 6 – 8, 2026, at the Laramie County Event Center, 3801 Archer Parkway, Cheyenne, Wyoming, 82009. In addition to exhibiting their lines of big-bore tactical firearms and suppressors, BHA and W.T.F. will host live fire range time for attendees to test out select products at 13802 Bullseye Blvd., Cheyenne, Wyoming, 82009.
The free, family-friendly event features a wide range of vendors, gear, and expert resources for hunters, anglers, campers, and outdoor enthusiasts. At the expo, BHA will showcase its Tactical Takeover lineup, including the Model 89 Black Thunder Tactical Lever Gun, SpikeDriver Tactical Lever Action Rifle, Model 89 White Lightning Tactical Lever Gun, and the Model 89 Take Down Tactical Rifle.

Built from 17-4 stainless steel and engineered to handle the powerful .500 S&W Magnum cartridge, the Model 89 platform combines classic American lever-action heritage with modern CNC precision manufacturing. Tactical configurations feature a 16-inch threaded barrel with muzzle brake, scout scope rail, M-LOK fore end tip, aperture rear and fiber optic front sights, and a large, curved lever designed for ease of use with gloved hands. Chambered in .500 S&W Magnum, these rifles accommodate bullet weights ranging from 200 grains to 700 grains, offering versatility suitable for a wide range of North American and international big game applications.
BHA will also highlight at its booth and on the range its AR500 Next Gen Rifle and Pistol platforms chambered in 500 Auto Max, a proprietary cartridge developed to deliver significant power in a semi-automatic AR platform.
“We’re excited to connect directly with our local community and give folks the opportunity to get hands-on with our rifles,” said Greg Buchel, owner of Big Horn Armory. “There’s no substitute for seeing and shooting these firearms in person. Whether you’re a seasoned hunter or new to big-bore platforms, this is a chance to experience the performance and craftsmanship that set Big Horn Armory apart.”
W.T.F. is exhibiting alongside BHA at the expo with its full line of suppressors and will bring its Barron Suppressor for attendees to test at the range, as well as display at the booth. The Barron is engineered for non-BMG .50 caliber cartridges, including .45-70 Government, .450 Bushmaster, .458 SOCOM, .50 Beowulf, .500 S&W Magnum, and .500 Auto Max. The fully welded suppressor features a universal 1.375”-24 TPI (HUB) thread pattern and includes one direct thread adapter.
Measuring 9.9 inches in length with a 1.825-inch diameter, the Barron weighs 21 ounces in stainless steel and 16 ounces in titanium. When paired with a 16-inch BHA Model 89 chambered in .500 S&W Magnum firing 500 S&W subsonic ammunition, the Barron has metered at 112.29 dB at the shooter’s ear. The suppressor is finished in V-Series Cerakote for durability in demanding field conditions.

Live fire range days, where attendees will have the ability to fire the BHA and W.T.F products, will occur at the following times:

Since 2017, SST has supplied Vlieger with its revolutionary NAS3 cases, which he has relied on for their superior strength, lighter weight, and consistent performance. Vlieger, a seasoned competitor, has achieved remarkable success in the shooting sports industry. About Shell Shock Technologies NAS3 Cases:
NAS3 cases are 50 percent lighter than brass cases, offer greater lubricity, and will not abrade, clog, foul, wear out, or damage breach and ejector mechanisms. The cases offer greater corrosion resistance, tensile strength (2x stronger), and elasticity than brass. NAS3 cases will not split, chip, crack, or grow (stretch). The pistol cases are fully reloadable (using S3 Reload dies) and can be reloaded many more times than brass cases. NAS3 cases have been tested successfully by customers to pressures over 70k psi. NAS3 cases can be picked up with a magnet.
NAS3 is “Best in Class” for maintaining consistent velocity between rounds. In an independent test performed by H.P. White Laboratory (a major munitions testing facility), rounds fired using NAS3 cases achieved a velocity standard deviation of 0.093 FPS (124-grain FMJ bullet, 4.2 grains Titegroup powder, ten rounds, extreme variation 3fps).
