Daniel Horner Achieves Historic Win at USPSA Multi-Gun National Championship with SIG MCX-SPEAR LT
NEWINGTON, N.H., (July 23, 2024) – SIG SAUER, Inc. congratulates Team SIG professional shooter Daniel Horner on a historic win at the 2024 USPSA Multi-Gun Nationals. After successfully defending his championship title, Horner remains the only competitor in USPSA history to hold the national Modified Division title and is the first competitor ever to earn a national competition title win with an MCX-SPEAR LT rifle.
“At the beginning of 2024, Daniel set his sights on the IPSC World Shoot this August. He could have easily taken his M400-DH3, that he’s won multiple championships with, given it a tune-up and started training – that was the easy button,” began Robby Johnson, Chief Marketing Officer, SIG SAUER, Inc. “However, Daniel’s plan was to use this opportunity to demonstrate to the world, on the biggest stage, the versatility of the MCX-SPEAR product line. On his quest, Daniel has activated so many elements of SIG SAUER with the one constant being his persistence to prove the capability beyond the battlefield.”
At the 2024 USPSA Multi-Gun National Championship, Horner defended his title through eight field courses and four speed shoots using an MCX-SPEAR LT Rifle with a TANGO6T riflescope, a P320-DH3 pistol with a ROMEO-X optic, and SIG SAUER Match Elite competition ammunition.
“Winning this year felt great, and not just to put another national championship under my belt- it was the result of six months of hard work with the engineers developing the MCX platform from the ultimate battle rifle into the ultimate competition rifle. I have shot many thousands of rounds through the MCX platforms that have been selected for SOCOM while I’m teaching classes, so I was very familiar with the design and the operation but tuning it to be able to win at the highest level (including the long-range portion of the nationals) was something that hadn’t been done before. What happened at Multi-Gun Nationals is the result of a bunch of people at the absolute top of what they do coming together and making great things happen,” commented Daniel Horner, Team SIG professional shooter.
The MCX-SPEAR LT was developed for an exclusive special operations military program that has since been adopted and fielded throughout the world. Additionally, in 2022, the SIG SAUER MCX-SPEAR was selected by the U.S. Army for the Next Generation Squad Weapons (NGSW) program, bringing an entirely new level of performance, reliability, and capability to the soldiers.
The 2024 USPSA Multi-Gun Nationals was held at the Forest Lakes Sportsman’s Club in Forest Lake, Minnesota, July 19 – 21, 2024. Horner will compete next at the International Practical Shooting Competition (IPSC) beginning August 4, 2024, at Ruutikangas Shooting Center in Liminka, Finland.

U.S. Navy Rim of Pacific Exercise Is World’s Largest Maritime Exercise
SAN DIEGO – 23 July 2024 – An MQ-9B SeaGuardian® Unmanned Aircraft System from General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) is once again supporting the U.S. Navy during its Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise, this time for RIMPAC 2024. RIMPAC 2024, the world’s largest international maritime exercise, started on July 8, 2024, and continues operations through the month in areas throughout Hawaii.
GA-ASI’s SeaGuardian is a maritime derivative of the MQ-9B SkyGuardian® and remains the first UAS that offers multi-domain Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance, and Targeting (ISR&T) as an internal payload that can search the ocean’s surface and depths in support of Fleet Operations. SeaGuardian is also providing real-time ISR data feeds to the U.S. Pacific Fleet Command Center using advanced long-range targeting capabilities, Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) parametrics, Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) acoustic and tracking data, and full-motion video to the watch floor and intelligence centers as well as to surface, air, and subsurface exercise participants for real-time dynamic tasking and targeting in support of cooperative kill-chain execution.
SeaGuardian arrived at RIMPAC 2024 with more than 8,000 hours flown showcasing all operational payloads, which includes the SeaVue Multi-role radar from Raytheon, an RTX business, SNC’s Electronic Support Measures (EMS) solution, as well as an Automatic Identification System (AIS), and a self-contained ASW. This year, GA-ASI is introducing its Sonobuoy Dispensing System, demonstrating the deployment of A-size sonobuoys from a UAS for monitor and control. Additional SeaGuardian capabilities include a GA-ASI-developed Lynx® Multi-mode Maritime Radar, a high-definition Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) imaging system, and Link 16.
SeaGuardian’s multi-domain capabilities allows it to flex from mission to mission and pass real-time sensor data directly to the Fleet through Link 16 and satellite feeds to the shore-based command and intelligence centers. During RIMPAC, the MQ-9B is effectively passing ISR&T information to various surface and air units, such as the Nimitz-class carrier USS CARL VINSON, Guided Missile Destroyers (DDG), Littoral Combat Ships (LCS), frigates, patrol boats, P-8s, P-3s, and numerous other U.S. and foreign units taking part in the exercise.

Second RAF Protector Now Operating in Waddington
SECOND RAF PROTECTOR NOW OPERATING IN WADDINGTON
With Two Protector RPAs in the UK, GA-ASI Has Delivered a Total of 10 Protectors to RAF;
First Four Cadres of RAF Aircrew Complete Training at FTTC
SAN DIEGO – 22 July 2024 – The United Kingdom’s Royal Air Force (RAF) now has two Protector RG Mk1 Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) operating at RAF Waddington. The second Protector has started its ground trial at RAF Station Waddington with first flight expected in August. Protector is based on the MQ-9B SkyGuardian® RPA developed by General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), and is specially configured for the RAF. The RAF has taken delivery of 10 of their total order of 16 Protectors from GA-ASI, with eight aircraft currently undergoing RAF crew training, test, and evaluation in the United States.
“We’re thrilled to see a second Protector operating at Waddington,” said Chris Dusseault, GA-ASI’s vice president of MQ-9B in Europe. “The Royal Air Force is a great partner for GA-ASI, and we look forward to additional MQ-9B aircraft operating in the U.K. and more broadly across Europe.”
Simon Holford, Uncrewed Air Systems Delivery Team Leader at Defense Equipment & Support, said: “Seeing delivery and assembly of the second Protector aircraft in the UK is yet another measure of the significant progress on this project and testament to the hard work of everyone involved. Together with the three aircraft we have already taken delivery of in the US (which remain in the US for use in trials and/or training), we have now taken delivery of five of the sixteen aircraft we have ordered.”
Officer Commanding 31 Sqn, Wing Commander Maccoll said, “I’m delighted to see another RAF Protector assembled at RAF Waddington, thanks to the hard work of our Programme team, Defense partners, contractors, and the skill of 31 Squadron personnel. This Summer, Protector will undertake further test and evaluation and we expect more aircraft arrivals before the end of the year. “
In another program milestone, the first of four cadres of RAF aircrew completed training on April 29, 2024, at GA-ASI’s Flight Test and Training Center (FTTC) in Grand Forks, North Dakota. The GA-ASI training involved RAF Operational Conversion Units (OCUs), which are comprised of eight crews, including pilots, sensor operators (SOs), and mission intelligence coordinators (MICs) from 31, 54, or 56 Squadrons.
The scope of the training is focused on foundational skills required to operate the Protector air vehicle and its equipment, including the Multi-Spectral Targeting System (MTS), Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), Mission Intelligence Station (MIS), and System for Tasking and Real-Time Exploitation (STARE). Training involves building solid foundations for both normal and emergency operations in Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems, instrument flying, and Automatic Takeoff and Landing Capability (ATLC).
With the completion of the Protector Technicians course at GA-ASI facilities in Southern California on May 16, 2024, Number 31 Squadron now has another 21 qualified maintainers. As part of their training course, the RAF maintainers were able to directly support the training flights for their aircrew counterparts who were completing the live flying element of their Operational Conversion course from North Dakota.
MQ-9B is GA-ASI’s next-generation RPA System (RPAS), delivering exceptionally long endurance and range, with auto takeoff and landing under SATCOM-only control, and will be able to operate in unsegregated airspace using the GA-ASI-developed Detect and Avoid system. In addition to the RAF, contracts have been signed with Belgium, Canada, Taiwan and the U.S. Air Force in support of the Special Operations Command. The Japan Coast Guard is currently operating the MQ-9B for maritime operations, which the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) also selected for its Medium-Altitude, Long-Endurance (MALE) Remotely Piloted Aircraft System Trial Operation Project. MQ-9B has additionally supported various U.S. Navy exercises, including Northern Edge, Integrated Battle Problem, and Group Sail.

Galco’s High Ready™ chest holster system is the latest in an expanding line of torso-worn hunting and outdoor holsters.
The High Ready is ideal for comfortably carrying a large-frame handgun when hunting, fishing, camping or hiking in bear country. Positioning on the chest keeps the handgun clear of gear carried near the waistline or on the back and allows rifle carry on either shoulder. It also helps keep the handgun dry when wading, and is a great choice for riding, whether on an ATV or horseback.
The High Ready’s outstanding comfort level comes from three major design features:
The first is its innovative backing plate, composed of a ballistic nylon front over a closed cell foam body. The back portion of the plate that rides against the wearer’s chest is lined with Galco’s Comfort Cloth™, an Adaptive Performance Mesh™ that provides padding and moisture wicking.
Secondly, the unique harness construction that allows the holster to pivot at three independent attachment points, maximizing freedom of movement and minimizing restriction. Three quickly-operated, highly secure metal side-release buckles attach the holster component to the harness straps at the pivot points.
Lastly, 2” wide tubular webbing harness straps distribute the weight of a heavy handgun for maximum comfort. One strap goes over either shoulder, while the second wraps around the torso for highly effective weight distribution.
The rigid, open-top Kydex holster pocket offers full slide coverage, provides fast draw and easy holstering, and facilitates a full firing grip. The holster pocket on semiauto versions accommodates most red dot sights.

GA-ASI delivered its MQ-9A Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) to the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) in 2021 and recently announced an increase in the total order of MQ-9As in its service to eight.

LAS VEGAS — SHOT UniversityTM has issued a call for presentations for its educational sessions at the 2025 NSSF® SHOT Show®. SHOT University will take place January 21-23, during the 2025 NSSF SHOT Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.
SHOT University is the highly regarded offering of educational sessions that share models of success with the goal of elevating industry professionalism and success across many business types. SHOT University attracts decision-makers primarily from firearm industry retailer and shooting range businesses, with professionals from the conservation community, manufacturers, suppliers and trade media also attending.
Presentation Details
- Proposed presentations must meet the 1-hour per session timeframe and should include at least 15 minutes of dedicated time for questions and answers from the audience.
- Presentation proposals that are interactive in nature and include handouts (such as course booklets and/or whitepapers) are strongly encouraged.

The Climate Change Agenda as A Campaign Issue in 2024
It’s about time that we had a good shoot the shit, especially with a major election just down the road. If you’ve never participated in a shoot the shit, it’s a social interaction during which any topic can be discussed. Participants don’t need to know anything about the topic being discussed, they are free to make unsupported comments, use uncensored profanity, insult anyone they wish or altogether change the subject. A good shoot the shit will save you from paying over $150 per hour to a jackass who majored in psychology so they could understand themselves.
This shoot the shit will focus on climate change. Unfortunately, suggestions are being made by politicians, climate activists and inept opportunists that moving the country completely away from fossil fuels will immediately halt climate change.
Transforming the country’s energy profile is both desirable and a big deal. It should not be approached by implementing rules or mandates derived via anal extraction. It requires a well-developed plan that is methodically executed. Unfortunately, too many of our politicians, who wouldn’t know a carbon atom from a donut, have convinced the ignorant and gullible that our planet is in danger of extinction. The consequences have been climate related suicides, vandalism and veritable cornucopia of misinformation. So, in this shoot the shit I present some ideas that will enlighten you, because ladies and gentlemen we need to get this right. Keep in mind that it does not take an intellectual giant to understand that you cannot replace an energy source producing power 24 hrs. per day, seven days per week, with solar panels and windmills.
Here is what you should know:
Even if the U.S. entirely stopped using fossil fuels, completely reversing climate change would be a very long process, likely taking centuries. Here is why:
• Lingering CO2: The carbon dioxide already emitted takes a long time to be naturally removed from the atmosphere. Estimates range from hundreds to thousands of years.
• Ocean Heat Storage: The oceans absorb a significant amount of heat. Even without additional warming, it would take decades for this heat to transfer back out to space and stabilize temperatures (2, 3).
However, shutting down fossil fuels would still have a positive impact:
• Temperature Stabilization: Global temperatures would stop rising within a few decades (2)
• Gradual Cooling: Once emissions stop, natural processes would slowly begin to remove CO2, leading to a gradual decline in temperatures over a prolonged period (3).
The key takeaway is that stopping fossil fuels is crucial to prevent further warming, but it is a long-term solution for reversing the effects we have already seen.

Succinctly, the impact to climate change in the absence of fossil fuels across the spectrum is a lengthy process. Our focus needs to be on an organized and methodical energy transition plan not whimsical implementation of strategies that will have deleterious consequences on economies as well as more broadly mankind’s quality of life.

NEW PMM Modular Magwell for Glock Gen5 45/17/Etc
The PMM Modular Magwell was designed to give the end user maximum performance with a minimal footprint. Featuring an EDC and a Competition variant, both options are easily installed on the same captive Grip Plug. The heart of the system is the spring loaded plunger in the Grip Plug. This feature allows the user to quickly install and swap Magwells without any additional hardware or headache. The Grip Plug fills the rear cavity of the grip, further enhancing the funnel, and is “semi-permanently” installed using a single set screw. Both components are machined from 6061 aluminum and are hardcoat anodized Black or FDE.

The PMM Extended Magazine Release features a convex design and is fully ambidextrous. Its rounded contact surface is fully serrated and extends outwards to bring the release closer to the user’s thumb to minimize the need to break your grip during reloads. Engine Demonstrates Its Viability for MQ-9B SkyGuardian®/SeaGuardian® RPA
SAN DIEGO – 19 July 2024 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) flew a company-owned MQ-9B SkyGuardian® Remotely Piloted Aircraft on July 15, 2024, with a PT6 E-Series model turboprop engine supplied by Pratt & Whitney Canada. Representatives from GA-ASI and Pratt & Whitney witnessed the first flight of the PT6 engine on MQ-9B, which lasted 44 minutes and demonstrated exemplary handling and acceleration.
“We’re excited to see the PT6 engine on our MQ-9B aircraft,” said GA-ASI President David R. Alexander. “We’ve worked with Pratt & Whitney for years, specifically on our jet-powered Avenger®, and we’ve enjoyed a very productive partnership. The first flight marks an important milestone for MQ-9B SkyGuardian and SeaGuardian® customers and missions that require additional power. In addition, customers who choose the Pratt & Whitney engine will benefit from low sustainment costs from best-in-class Time Between Overhauls, as well as 50+ maintenance and overhaul facilities around the globe.”
The PT6 E-Series is a reliable and versatile turboprop engine family that delivers key performance enhancements applicable to future MQ-9B missions. PT6 delivers a 33 percent increase in power over MQ-9B’s current engine, with a highly mature dual-channel Full Authority Digital Engine Controller.
MQ-9B is GA-ASI’s next generation RPA, delivering exceptionally long endurance and range, with auto takeoff and landing under SATCOM-only control, and will be able to operate in unsegregated airspace using the GA-ASI-developed Detect and Avoid system.
Deliveries of MQ-9B have begun for the United Kingdom, with contracts in place with Belgium, Canada, Taiwan, and the U.S. Air Force in support of the Special Operations Command. The Japan Coast Guard is currently operating MQ-9B for maritime operations, and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) selected MQ-9B for its Medium-Altitude, Long-Endurance (MALE) Remotely Piloted Aircraft System Trial Operation Project. MQ-9B has also supported various U.S. Navy exercises, including Northern Edge, Integrated Battle Problem, and Group Sail.
