If you’ve been eyeing a tahr hunt in the Southern Alps or a moose draw in Newfoundland, BaseMap has you covered.
Over the last six months we’ve added more than 50 map layers: three new countries, new nationwide access data, and a stack of fall unit boundaries across the states. Here’s the short version.
New Zealand
Public land, DOC huts, campsites, tramping trails, 4×4 tracks and parcel boundaries, plus distribution ranges for nine species, from red and sika deer to tahr and elk.
Canada
Hunting unit boundaries for nine provinces and the Yukon, the same WMUs, zones and game areas the regs, draws and harvest reporting are built on. That includes all 445 of Yukon’s game management areas and Newfoundland’s separate moose, caribou and black bear areas.
Australia
Public land (reserves, parks, game areas and more), roads, 4WD tracks, walking trails and bushfire history.
More ways onto public land
Federal access easements recorded under the MAPLand Act, the routes and corridors that cross private ground to reach public land, plus land trust and conservation holdings from The Nature Conservancy. Terms vary and many easements are foot-only, so check with the managing agency before you count on one.
Fall units, state by state
Utah archery and youth elk units and fall turkey units, Minnesota special deer hunts, Michigan fall turkey units, Kentucky elk regulated areas, Maryland deer regions, Vermont WMAs, Alabama Forever Wild tracts and California deer units inside the bear hunt area.
Fresh imagery
NAIP aerial imagery, plus a Sentinel-2 satellite layer from the last 30 days with little to no cloud cover. Handy for checking burns, cuts and snow line before you head out.
