ARMORED MINDSET
SPECIAL THREAT IS NOT A DOWNGRADE
Most armor is designed for a specific threat level, but some is intentionally designed for specific threats, allowing you to reduce the weight you carry.
Just two calibers make up about 70% of rifle threats in the real world. Special threat armor concentrates its testing there instead of spreading thin across the long tail, and that decision is where the weight savings come from.

COMMON QUESTIONS
WHAT IS A SPECIAL THREAT PLATE?
Typically, most special threat plates drop .308 in favor of more common calibers seen in crime today, allowing you to drop weight and thickness.
WHEN IS LEVEL III OR LEVEL IV BETTER?
Level III and Level IV plates are specifically designed for military and law enforcement threats. Special threat plates came about to fill the gap in threats specifically seen by the DEA.
When high-power rifles (think hunting/sniper rifle) are a concern, that’s when you choose Level III or Level IV.
HOW DO I KNOW WHAT I NEED?
Start with the threat you are realistically expecting to face and choose the plate that will stop those threats.
