Today, we honor the life and legacy of MSG Andrew “Andy” Marckesano.
A respected Green Beret, leader, father, and teammate whose impact continues to be felt throughout the Special Forces Regiment.
Andy died by suicide, a devastating loss for his family, his teammates, and the entire Special Forces community. His passing underscored a difficult reality: even the nation’s most elite warriors can face invisible battles.
In the wake of that loss, a commitment was made to ensure more Green Berets and their families have access to the care, resources, and support they need before a crisis becomes a tragedy.
That commitment lives on through Andy’s Fund, advancing Beyond the Battlefield, the Special Forces Trust’s mental resilience platform. Through confidential counseling, specialized care, peer connection, and other critical resources, Green Berets and their families have somewhere to turn before life’s challenges become overwhelming.
Every counseling session funded. Every Green Beret who asks for help. Every family that finds hope through Beyond the Battlefield is part of Andy’s enduring legacy.
Today, we remember Andy not only for the life he lived, but for the lives that continue to be impacted because of him. We remain committed to carrying that legacy forward and ensuring that no Green Beret has to face life’s unseen battles alone.
