The Mistral is a flexible IR homing surface to air missile. It’s intended for use with a man portable launch unit but can be configured to mount on a vehicle or watercraft. It has a range of roughly 6km and attains a speed of Mach 2.6. Mistral is built by MBDA Missile Systems, an EU multinational corporation, and has been in service since 1988. It delivers a high explosive warhead that can be detonated on impact or with a laser proximity switch.
