Sign Up for NSSF’s Gun Storage Check Week at SHOT Show
LAS VEGAS – NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, is inviting all companies, organizations and individuals attending the SHOT Show® next week to sign up for a reminder to participate in NSSF’s Gun Storage Check WeekTM in 2025 to promote the message of “Make Sure It’s Secure.”
Advertising throughout the SHOT Show will contain a QR code that leads to this simple sign-up form. The form also will be at GunStorageCheck.org. Filling out the form with a name and email address will trigger a reminder notice from NSSF prior to both Gun Storage Check Weeks this year—June 1-7 during National Safety Month and September 1-7 during Suicide Prevention Month.
The goal of Gun Storage Check Week is to remind gun owners and their families to check on their firearm storage practices and make improvements, if necessary. “We’re asking gun owners to do their part to prevent unwanted access to their firearms to prevent accidents, thefts, suicide and misuse,” said Joe Bartozzi, NSSF President and CEO.
Those arriving in Las Vegas for the SHOT Show, the firearm industry’s annual trade show, will see Gun Storage Check Week ads in the baggage claim area of Harry Reid International Airport. “While waiting for your bags, take a moment to sign up for a reminder to help promote Gun Storage Check Week later this year,” said Bill Brassard, NSSF’s Senior Director, Communications.
NSSF launched Gun Storage Check Week as a national awareness campaign last year. The inaugural campaign was highly successful, with hundreds of companies and organizations, including firearm manufacturers, retailers, shooting ranges, media outlets and law enforcement agencies, reminding their customers and audiences to check on their firearm storage to “Make Sure It’s Secure.”
More than 10 million gun owners were reached with firearm safety messages. Videos on GunStorageCheck.org explained the core rules of gun safety and how to select a secure storage device. Another video discussed taking care of your mental health, the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline and taking action to prevent suicide, including preventing access to firearms during periods of acute risk.
The Gun Storage Check Sweepstakes offered gun safes from ShotLock and Hornady Manufacturing as prizes during the June and September weeks.
NSSF reminds gun owners that there are many options available to store firearms securely, ranging from cable gun locks to lock boxes to full-size gun safes. Vehicle storage options and digital devices are available as well. Many firearm safety and suicide prevention resources can be found at GunStorageCheck.org as well as on the NSSF websites ProjectChildSafe.org and BraveConversation.org.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, launched its Faces of FirearmsTM safety outreach program with a commercial on NBC’s Meet The Press in the Washington, D.C. region. Faces of Firearms is a national, precision-targeted digital outreach campaign demonstrating that today’s gun owners, who are from all walks of life, and the firearm industry are united in true firearm safety. This effort is part of NSSF’s Real Solutions. Safer Communities.® firearm safety campaign that includes longstanding and nationally-recognized safety initiatives including:

Many of the featured gun owners describe themselves as parents or grandparents, brothers or sisters, sons or daughters, and neighbors or friends––a reminder that our similarities are just as worth celebrating as our differences.
What unites tens of millions of gun owners, though, is their desire to protect themselves and their families through firearm ownership. This program shows that being safe transcends race, gender, religion, income, and any other facet of individual identity.

NSSF Praises Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine for Signing Second Amendment Privacy Act
WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, praises Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine for signing into law SB 58, the Second Amendment Privacy Act. This NSSF-supported law protects the privacy and sensitive financial information of people purchasing firearms and ammunition in The Buckeye State. With Ohio, there are now 18 states with laws that protect the Second Amendment financial privacy of their citizens.
The law prohibits financial institutions from requiring the use of a firearm code, also known as a Merchant Category Code (MCC), from being assigned to firearm and ammunition purchases at retail when using a credit card. The law also forbids discriminating against a firearm retailer as a result of the assigned or non-assignment of a firearm code and disclosing the protected financial information. Additionally, the law prohibits keeping or causing to be kept any list, record or registry of private firearm ownership.
“Governor Mike Dewine’s signature on the Second Amendment Privacy Act is, yet, another example of his firm commitment to protecting the Second Amendment rights of all Ohioans. Citizens in Ohio won’t worry that ‘woke’ Wall Street banks, credit card companies and payment processors will collude with government entities to spy on their private finances to illegally place them on gun control watchlists,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President & General Counsel. “NSSF is grateful to state Senators Terry Johnson and Theresa Gavarone for bringing this crucial legislation to become law. No American should fear being placed on a government watchlist simply for exercising their Constitutionally-protected rights to keep and bear arms.”
NSSF worked closely with Ohio legislators to protect private and legal firearm and ammunition purchases from political exploitation. The Second Amendment Privacy Act is designed to protect the privacy of lawful and private firearm and ammunition purchases from being abused for political purposes by corporate financial service providers and unlawful government search and seizure of legal and private financial transactions.
The U.S. Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) admitted to U.S. Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) in a letter that it violated the Fourth Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens that protect against illegal search and seizure when it collected the credit card purchase history from banks and credit card companies of individuals who purchased firearms and ammunition in the days surrounding Jan. 6, 2020. Treasury’s FinCEN had no cause, and sought the information without a warrant, to place these law-abiding citizens on a government watchlist only because they exercised their Second Amendment rights to lawfully purchase firearms and ammunition.
The idea of a firearm-retailer specific MCC was borne from antigun New York Times’ columnist Andrew Ross Sorkin and Amalgamated Bank, which has been called “The Left’s Private Banker” and bankrolls the Democratic National Committee and several antigun politicians. Amalgamated Bank lobbied the Swiss-based International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for the code’s creation. NSSF has called on Congress to investigate Amalgamated Bank’s role in manipulating the ISO standard setting process.
Sorkin admitted creating a firearm-retailer specific MCC would be a first step to creating a national firearm registry, which is forbidden by federal law.
Ohio joins a growing list of states that are standing against the invasion of financial privacy when exercising Second Amendment rights, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia and Wyoming. These states passed laws protecting citizens’ Second Amendment privacy. Other states are considering similar legislation. In the last Congress, U.S. Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.) introduced S. 4075, the NSSF-supported Protecting Privacy in Purchases Act in the Senate. U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) introduced H.R. 7450, with the same title in the U.S. House of Representatives. California, Colorado and New York have laws requiring the use of a firearm-retailer specific MCC.

By 2001, she had attained the position of director of corporate communications and led all marketing, collateral, advertising, and events. In 2003, she left the company to start her own public relations company focused on providing personal service in the growing tactical market.

She is HootSuite certified in their social media platforms and certified in Social Media Marketing. Gall helps clients manage the ever-evolving social media world by providing management, strategy, and administration on client’s social media platforms. She also manages email marketing campaigns, writer relations, content creation, and public relations campaigns.

Las Vegas, Nev. (January 2025) – Walk the Talk America (WTTA), a non-profit organization dedicated to bridging the gap between mental health and responsible firearm ownership, thanks Camfour for hosting a fundraising raffle during its 2025 annual trade show, which was held Jan, 4 – 5 at the New Orleans Marriott. $10,000 was raised at the show, which will directly support WTTA’s mission to bridge the gap between mental health and responsible firearm ownership, promoting education and cultural change to reduce negative outcomes from firearms.
The annual trade show brought together industry leaders, dealers, and partners for two days of networking, exclusive deals, and camaraderie in the heart of the Big Easy.

SUPER BOWL LIX FLIGHT ADVISORY
At the request of the Department of Homeland Security, the Federal Aviation Administration will establish airspace restrictions over Super Bowl LIX, to be played February 9, 2025, at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, LA. NOTAMs will be issued depicting 99.7 “Special Security Instruction” Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) to be implemented as follows:
Under the authority granted by 49 U.S.C., the FAA may apply restrictions within airspace under its jurisdiction. Any person who knowingly and willingly violates these restrictions may be subject to certain criminal and/or civil penalties. Pilots who violate security TFRs or procedures may be intercepted, detained, and interviewed by Law Enforcement/Security Personnel. They may also be subject to the following actions:
1. The FAA may take administrative action, including imposing civil penalties and the suspension or revocation of airmen certificates;
2. The United States Government may pursue criminal charges, including charges under Title 49 of the United States Code, Section 46307;
3. The United States Government may use deadly force against the airborne aircraft, if it is determined that the aircraft poses an imminent security threat.
UAS ACTIVITY IN THE VICINITY OF DOWNTOWN NEW ORLEANS:
Within a 1.5 Nautical Mile Radius (NMR) of 295653N/0900413W or the HRV 327° radial at 7NM and up to 2,000ft AGL, unless otherwise authorized, all UAS operations are prohibited during the following times:

On February 9, 2025, from 1630-2230 CST, all aircraft flight operations are prohibited from the surface up to, but not including FL180 within a 10 Nautical Mile Radius (NMR) of 295634N/0900327W or the HRV 331° radial at 6NM except as follows:
1. Approved Law Enforcement, approved Military aircraft directly supporting Super Bowl LIX and approved Air Ambulance flights, squawking an assign discrete beacon code, are permitted within the inner core as coordinated.
2. Regularly scheduled commercial passenger and all-cargo carriers operating under one of the following TSA-approved Standard Security Programs/Procedures: Aircraft Operator Standard Security Program (AOSSP), Full-All Cargo Aircraft Operator Standard Security Program (FACAOSSP), Model Security Program (MSP), Twelve Five Standard Security Program (TFSSP) All Cargo, or All-Cargo International Security Procedure (ACISP) and are arriving into and/or departing from 14 CFR Part 139 airports.
10NMR TO 30NMR OUTER RING RESTRICTIONS:
On February 9, 2025, from 1630-2230 CST, all aircraft flight operations are prohibited from the surface up to, but not including FL180 between the 10NMR and the 30NMR of 295634N/0900327W or the HRV 331° radial at 6NM except as specified below:
1. All aircraft arriving or departing local airfields, and workload permitting, ATC may authorize transit operations. Aircraft may not loiter. All aircraft entering and exiting the TFR must be on an active IFR or VFR flight plan and must be assigned a discrete beacon code by an Air Traffic Control (ATC) facility. Aircraft must be squawking that code prior to departing within, and entering the TFR.
2. All aircraft entering or exiting the TFR must remain in two-way radio communication with ATC. IN
EFFECT FOR THE ENTIRE TFR:
For operations within this TFR, all emergency/life-saving flights (medical/law enforcement/firefighting) must coordinate with the FAA at the New Orleans Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON) prior to their departure at (504) 471-4350 to avoid potential intercept or delays.
The following operations are not authorized within this TFR: flight training, practice instrument approaches, aerobatic flight, glider operations, parachute operations, ultralight, hang gliding, balloon operations, agriculture/crop dusting, animal population control flight operations, banner towing operations, sightseeing operations, maintenance test flights, model aircraft operations, model rocketry, Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), and utility and pipeline survey operations.
The FAA point of contact for Super Bowl LIX is the System Operations Support Center, available 0700- 2300 Eastern at (202) 267-8276.
A gateway airport has been established to provide security screening services by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and FAA. Aircraft seeking to depart Lakefront Airport (NEW) during the effective times of the TFR must first complete TSA screening at NEW. TSA screening will be available during the TFR, and exact times will be published in the NOTAM. Check NOTAMs for TSA screening information.
UAS ACTIVITY:
UAS operators who do not comply with applicable airspace restrictions are warned that pursuant to 10 U.S.C. section 130(i), and 6 U.S.C. section 124(n), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Department of Justice (DOJ), and the Department of Defense (DOD) may take security action that results in the interference, disruption, seizure, damaging, or destruction of unmanned aircraft deemed to pose a credible safety or security threat to protected personnel, facilities, or assets. UAS operations are authorized within the defined SSI airspace if in compliance with the requirements listed below:
1. Prior to TFR activation, the UAS flight operation has been pre-approved by the FAA System Operations Support Center (SOSC) at 202-267-8276 based on criteria established by the sponsoring federal agency in coordination with the FAA;
2. Requests for pre-approved UAS flight operations can expect disposition of their request in a minimum of 24 hours.
3. If the pre-approved UAS flight operation is conducted in direct support of an active national defense, homeland security, law enforcement, firefighting, search and rescue, or disaster response mission, and prior notification has been provided to the designated facility contact; or
4. If the pre-approved UAS flight operation is conducted in direct support of a significant and urgent governmental interest and is approved by the FAA SOSC in advance of entering the defined SSI airspace; and
5. The pre-approved UAS flight operation complies with all other applicable federal aviation regulations.

The FAA recommends that all aircraft operators check NOTAMs OFTEN for mandatory airspace restrictions prior to operations within this region. Specific instructions and restrictions are available at http://tfr.faa.gov once the NOTAM has been issued

“Customers loved the Kinetic Merino 250 Hoodie, but asked for an even lighter version,” said TUO Marketing Director, Steve Allie, about direct input received from western big game hunters.
The unimaginably comfortable TUO Kinetic Merino 150 Hoodie is founded on a sophisticated fabric composition. To achieve perfection, TUO selected an 86% micron merino, 12% core-spun nylon, and 2% spandex blend. The Merino wool is spun around nylon to increase durability and elasticity, while the touch of spandex yields the ideal level of stretch. The Merino wool itself is a natural insulator yet wicks and offers natural antimicrobial properties without supplementary treatments.
Construction-wise, the Kinetic Merino 150 Hoodie is sewn with flatlock seams for next-to-skin comfort. You’ll also appreciate the comfortable 3-piece hood that protects against the sun and adds warmth when layering.

The more robust Kinetic Merino 350 Hoodie is even more likely to serve as your standalone top in the field. Wearing like your favorite everyday hooded sweatshirt, this hoodie offers a fabric blend of 95% micron Merino wool and 5% spandex for subtle stretch and the benefit of maintaining the hoodie’s original shape.
Like the Kinetic Merino 150 Hoodie, the warmer 350 version features the same 3-piece hood and flatlock seams, but has couple unique traits. For one, the inner fabric is brushed for extraordinary comfort. Secondly, you’ll welcome the front kangaroo-style pouch pockets for hand warming or storing items securely, as the pockets feature ultra-quiet closures. The pouch is also located above the waist so you still easily access while wearing a front pack.

So what exactly is Merino wool?
It’s a superfine natural fiber that’s sheared from Merino sheep. Originally from Spain, Merino sheep are now raised in South America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and the United States.
Key to Merino wool of the highest quality is the diameter of its fibers, measured in microns (one millionth of a meter). For example, routine Merino wool measures in the low to mid 20’s, whereas TUO’s new Kinetic Merino 150 Hoodie comes in at 18.5 microns and the Kinetic Merino 150 Hoodie, 20.5 microns. That means more of Merino wool’s beneficial properties per square inch of material. (To give you an idea of how fine that is, human hairs average between 50 and 100 microns.)
So, what are those beneficial properties?
Temperature Regulation
Merino wool adapts to your body’s needs. It provides a degree of warmth when it’s cold and offers breathability when it’s warmer. So, in the case of TUO’s new hoodies, it can perform as a lone outer-layer if it’s warm – or – there’s a bit of a nip in the air. Additionally, the new hoodies serve as ultimate mid-layers.
Sun Protection
Perhaps surprising to some, Merino fibers possess natural pigments that absorb UV light. This inherent UV resistance provides some level of sun protection.
Odor Resistance
The fabric alone offers native antimicrobial properties. This comes from a sheep’s ability to produce a natural wax (sheep grease) that repels water and prevents the accumulation of bacteria, mold, and fungus.
Moisture Wicking
Merino wool naturally lifts perspiration off and away as it does for sheep. Mother Nature is amazing…

Elasticity
Unlike conventional wool, Merino wool offers a degree of elasticity. Meaning, the fabric holds its shape.

Hypoallergenic
Maybe not a requirement for hunting, but it’s factual, nonetheless. Merino wool is officially recognized as asthma and allergy friendly by the international certification body Allergy Standards Limited (ASL).
Fire-Resistant
Yes, it’s true. Merino wool fibers are difficult to ignite, have limited ability to sustain a flame, and can self-extinguish. Merino wool clothing is worn by firemen, police, soldiers, and rescue teams because of its natural fire protection.
