Featuring specialized tools, general use tools, and hex bits, the Archery toolkit is perfect for setting up and maintaining bows, crossbows, and their associated components and accessories. The kit, contained in a soft, zippered carrying case, is extremely portable. This makes it easy to keep it in a bow case, vehicle, or ATV, but fully capable enough for use on the bench or in the shop.
The Archery Field Toolkit has specific tools and components for archery such as the Fix It Sticks Broadhead wrench, and the 2-Stage Broadhead/knife Sharpener. Other premium components include a Mini Plier Bit, Steel Pin Punch, and the Stainless Steel Pick. Outdoors Tomorrow Foundation Signs on as Official +ONE Partner
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Outdoors Tomorrow Foundation (OTF) has signed as an official partner of +ONE®, a community-driven mentorship initiative led by NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association. The +ONE initiative aims to enhance access and opportunities for personal development through outdoor activities, including but not limited to hunting and shooting sports in the United States.
The +ONE initiative was developed in response to studies showing millions of people want to know more about hunting and target shooting. By encouraging mentorship and outreach through boots-on-the-ground efforts and impactful community storytelling, the initiative helps communities across the country engage with firearm safety, firearm basics and the many enjoyable opportunities available in shooting sports and hunting. These activities also provide participants with important life skills such as confidence, critical thinking, and cooperation, helping people grow both personally and socially.
The Outdoors Tomorrow Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting conservation and outdoor education through its signature Outdoor Adventures program. Offered in schools across the nation, this curriculum provides students with hands-on learning about fishing, archery, shooting sports, camping and wildlife conservation. Through its efforts, OTF introduced more than 150,000 students to the outdoors in 2024, with programs currently offered in more than 1,500 schools.

Research shows that if just one out of three hunters and target shooters introduces someone new to the sports, it will help secure a strong future for hunting and shooting sports for generations to come.
By joining the +ONE Movement, OTF is poised to expand its reach, working with educators, youth organizations and families to foster safe and rewarding outdoor experiences. The organization’s Outdoor Adventures program equips young people with leadership qualities and a deeper appreciation for conservation and outdoor traditions.

MUSKEGON, Mich. (January 30, 2025) – Established in 2020, Native Thunder Outfitters is located smack dab in the middle of the Central Flyway near Great Bend, Kansas. Nestled between Quivira National Wildlife Refuge and Cheyenne Bottoms Refuge – two of the most iconic waterfowl magnets in North America – the area is a veritable superhighway and stopping point for millions of migrating ducks and geese annually. The region is also known for outstanding turkey, white-tailed deer, and upland bird hunting opportunities.
“I’m from a small town in Georgia, and I’ve always been in love with the outdoors. I wasn’t the kind of kid that could sit in front of the TV, I’d do whatever I could to stay outside,” said Native Thunder owner and guide, Cole Smith. “My dad managed a quail plantation, so I always knew that’s what I wanted to do.”
Smith’s first guiding experience was for quail, closer to home, but soon he would end up in the Stuttgart, Arkansas area guiding duck hunts, and he fell in love with it. Like so many guides he continued to explore new gigs in different regions.
“I branched out and started guiding waterfowl in Canada, then eventually started doing turkey hunts in Kansas. I discovered how great the hunting was here – the bird numbers were incredible,” Smith said. “I ran 30 clients the first year, and we tagged 30 turkeys. The next year I was 50 for 50 guiding turkeys.”
Smith credits his success to having spent time with other outfitters who inspired and helped him better understand the business. These mentors coupled with his broad range of guide experience helped him hone-in on what he thought the ideal outfitter business should be.
“I started Native Thunder with a nice lodge that served great food. So many outfitters don’t focus on the overall experience, and I started this one with the idea that the client’s experience matters. As soon as they walk through the door of the lodge that experience begins,” explained Smith. “You can serve peanut butter and jelly if the hunting is good, but after a rough day – like we all know happens – you better back up your outfit with a good lodge experience, which includes great food and personable employees that talk with guests and make them feel at home. We use the best equipment and spare no expense on how we run this operation. Waking up every day and doing what you love – it’s a dream come true.”

Native Thunder has grown each year, but Smith says the operation remains controllable by limiting the number of guests at any given time.
“We take one group of ten every three days, and really focus on that one group to assure they have the great experience we strive for. During peak times, we’ll run a second group at the same time, but when you have so much land access, you can really narrow down the best opportunities, so every hunt counts,” added Smith.
The annual last hurrah for waterfowl hunters is the Light Goose Conservation Order season which was implemented by the federal government to help control over-populated snow and Ross geese. Native Thunder just so happens to be located within one of North America’s main snow goose migration corridors.
“We like to wait until we see how the season going – how the migration is going, so we can book our clients during peak times. We have a late dark goose season in Kansas, too, that runs to Feb 17th, so we have to wait to run conservation hunts until after that. We’ll continue to schedule those hunts until the birds leave sometime in March. We have our first group of hunters coming on February 20th this season,” Smith said.
Once the snow geese have pushed northward on their long journey to their tundra nesting grounds, Smith and the Native Thunder crew stow the waterfowl gear and switch gears to turkey mode. Kansas is a lottery state and interested hunters need to apply for tags prior to mid-February. The lodge is always bustling with confident turkey hunters who know they have invested in an operation with astonishingly high success rates and an experience they will never forget.

Rechargeable Weapon Light Has Nearly Five Times the Candela Output of Previous Model
EAGLEVILLE, PA, January 29, 2024 – Streamlight® Inc., a leading provider of high-performance lighting and weapon light/laser sighting devices, launched the ProTac® 2.0 Rail Mount HP (high performance) light which delivers up to 2,000 lumens of blinding white light and 85,000 candela for illuminating targets at a distance, nearly five times the candela output of the original ProTac® 2.0 Rail Mount. The new weapon light is powered by a Streamlight SL-B50® battery pack that charges via an integrated USB-C port.
The light uses a rugged, integrated rail clamp that easily and securely attaches to weapons with a MIL-STD-1913 (Picatinny) rail, M-LOK®, or M-LOK compatible rail systems. It has a multi-function push-button tail switch for momentary or constant on operation and three selectable user programs. An optional remote switch is available in momentary only and momentary/latching versions. Both the push-button tactical and remote pressure switches allow for one-handed operation of the momentary, variable intensity, or strobe modes.

Featuring the latest in LED technology, the ProTac 2.0 Rail Mount HP offers three settings – high, low, and strobe. On High, it provides 2,000 lumens, 85,000 candela and a beam distance of 583 meters. On Low, it delivers 250 lumens, 11,500 candela and a 214-meter beam distance. Run times range from 2.5 hours on high to 11 hours on low; in strobe mode, it runs for 4.5 hours. The light also features a TEN-TAP® programmable switch that allows for user selection of the light’s three different operating programs: high/strobe (factory default), high only, or low/high.
The ProTac 2.0 Rail Mount HP uses an SL-B50 Streamlight protected Li-Ion USB rechargeable battery pack, accessed by the light’s sliding sleeve. The battery is keyed to ensure proper alignment of the charging port, and features LED status lights to indicate charge status, including red for charging and green for fully charged. An integrated safety circuit protects the battery from accidental overcharge or discharge.
Fabricated from 6000 series machined aluminum with a Type II MIL-Spec black anodized finish, the light features a glass lens with anti-reflective coating that is gasket sealed. It measures 6.30 inches in length and weighs 9.06 ounces with an included Streamlight SL-B50 rechargeable battery.
The new light is IP67-rated for dust-tight and waterproof operation to 1 meter for 30 minutes. It features an impact-resistant construction and is also 2-meter impact resistance tested.
The ProTac 2.0 Rail Mount HP has an MSRP that ranges from $251.00 to $305.00 depending on the configuration and comes with Streamlight’s Limited Lifetime Warranty.

The suppressor industry lost a pioneer and legend with the recent passing of Dr. Phil “Doc” Dater. Dr. Dater was best known as one of the founders of Gemtech in 1993, but his influence on the suppressor industry began decades before that. An Air Force veteran and licensed medical doctor, Dater began tinkering with suppressors in the early 1960’s in the basement machine shop of the hospital he worked at. It was a way to deal with hours of boredom during long shifts at the hospital as a radiologist.
He founded the Automatic Weapons Company (AWC) in 1976, in Taos, NM. In 1993, Dater moved to Boise, ID where he formed Gemini Technologies, better known as Gemtech. Dater was an early innovator in the burgeoning suppressor industry. He pushed the science of suppressor development and was an early adopter of cutting-edge sound testing and high-speed camera equipment. Many of his design influences are still present in leading suppressor models today.
“I had the distinct privilege of working for Phil for nearly11 years at Gemtech before coming to the American Suppressor Association,” said ASA Vice President Owen Miller. “He was an incredible mentor who had a profound impact on my career development within the industry. For Jiri, this was not his first experience with firearms as shooting has been a hobby of his for several years and an integral part of his training regimen.

One of the main goals of the Respect The Power & Master The Skill campaign is to raise awareness both within the shooting community and among the general public. The campaign website safety.czfirearms.com will feature videos and other materials demonstrating proper firearm handling techniques and ways to continuously improve skills through the right mental approach. Jiri Prochazka and Eric Grauffel will be the central figures in this content. There is also a contest for the visitors to the site, winner of which will have the opportunity to participate in a practical training session with Jiri and Eric in Las Vegas.

MKS Announces Newport™ 819-SL-06-WL Optical Power and Wavelength Sensors for Easy, Accurate Laser Measurements in Telecom, Datacom, 3D Sensing, and Lidar Applications
January 28, 2025 – Andover, MA – MKS Instruments, Inc. (NASDAQ: MKSI), a global provider of enabling technologies that transform our world, has announced the Newport™ 819-SL-06-WL optical power and wavelength sensors at SPIE’s Photonics West 2025. These sensors provide accurate, real-time power and wavelength measurements of laser sources between 400 and 1100 nm. Calibrated to NIST traceable standards to ensure accuracy, the 819-WL sensors feature a wide 6 mm aperture that simplifies optical measurements and eliminates problems related to detector saturation, alignment, beam profile, polarization, and back reflection. A convenient way to collect both power and wavelength information from lasers and VCSELs emitters, the 819-WL is designed for use in telecommunications, datacom, 3D sensing, and Lidar applications. When combined with the Newport 1938-R or 2938-R advanced optical meters, the 819-WL sensors provide both benchtop display and remote communication via USB, RS232, or Ethernet interfaces, making them ideal for automated test environments.
The Newport 819-SL-06-WL optical power and wavelength sensors simultaneously measure both power and wavelength, resulting in the unique ability to “self-calibrate” the wavelength dependent response of the internal detector. That means there is no need for the user to enter a reference wavelength in order to obtain an accurate power measurement; the instrument handles this automatically by detecting the laser wavelength. In addition, each sensor includes a thermoelectric cooler for temperature control and a built-in status LED indicator that notifies the user when the device has reached a stable temperature to begin measurements.
“Spectrometers and optical spectrum analyzers tend to be complex and costly ways to take much needed measurements,” said Reuven Silverman, General Manager, Ophir Photonics Products. “The 819-SL-06-WL sensors make it easy to collect both power and wavelength from devices under test. The new sensors eliminate many of the problems associated with collecting and sampling light. This helps keep measurements accurate and stable across a variety of ambient laboratory temperatures, signal wavelengths, and optical input power levels.”
Simplified mounting, quick setup and alignment, and a two-meter cable make the Newport 819-SL-06-WL sensors easy to integrate into an experiment or manufacturing setup. Both free-space and fiber-coupled input options are available to accommodate a variety of laser systems. For volume applications requiring higher wavelength measurement precision (up to ±0.01 nm), Newport offers customized specials to best meet your product needs.
