Jeff Reh Receives the NSSF Ken Sedlecky Lifetime Achievement Award

LAS VEGAS — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, today presented its highest honor — the Ken Sedlecky Lifetime Achievement Award — to Jeff Reh, who served for four decades at Beretta USA Corp. as General Counsel and was as a member of the NSSF Board of Governors for more than 20 years.

Reh was recognized as the recipient of the award at the NSSF Members Meeting during the industry’s annual trade show, the SHOT Show®.

“Jeff has been a pillar of wise counsel throughout his decades of service at Beretta and NSSF,” said Joe Bartozzi, NSSF President and CEO. “For his leadership and many other contributions to the firearm industry, he is a most worthy recipient of the NSSF Ken Sedlecky Lifetime Achievement Award. Jeff is a long-time colleague and friend, and it’s an honor to present this award to him.”

The NSSF Ken Sedlecky Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes individuals who have distinguished themselves by their long-term commitment to the success of the industry and by their support of NSSF’s mission to promote, protect and preserve hunting and the shooting sports.

Reh, who retired last year from Beretta USA, served for 22 years on the NSSF Board of Governors, 17 of them as the board’s Co-Vice Chairman. His guidance assisted in the growth and influence of NSSF during his board tenure.

He also served for 23 years on the board of the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute® (SAAMI), including two terms as Chairman. SAAMI is the organization that creates and publishes industry standards for safety, interchangeability, reliability and quality, coordinating technical data and promoting safe and responsible firearms use.

Reh was a leading voice in helping to guide the firearm industry through some of its most challenging times. In the late 1990s, he helped create the Hunting and Shooting Sports Heritage Fund, which raised tens of millions of dollars to successfully fight politically-motivated lawsuits filed against industry by municipalities. This aggressive response to these frivolous lawsuits led to Congress passing the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, which was signed into law in 2005 by President George W. Bush.

Reh and Beretta also contributed greatly to growing participation in the shooting sports over the years, showing strong support for programs like the NSSF-developed Scholastic Clay Target Program. Today, the scholastic shooting sports are thriving and have tens of thousands of participants nationwide.

In the area of firearm safety, Reh, an avid target shooter and hunter, showed unwavering support for NSSF’s Project ChildSafe® program and, more recently, its new Gun Storage Check WeekTM campaigns.

Reh was unable to attend the SHOT Show award presentation but received the Ken Sedlecky Lifetime Achievement Award—a handsome Canada goose mounted on a stylish wood base—late last year in Washington, D.C., from Bartozzi.

The NSSF achievement award’s namesake, Ken Sedlecky, had a long career at Smith & Wesson, was inducted into the National Skeet Shooting Hall of Fame and was known for mentoring new youth and adult target shooters.

CZ Bren 2 Ms Carbine and Pistols-Lightweight and Versatile

Las Vegas, NV (January 23, 2025) – The CZ Bren 2 Ms semi-automatic platform is an advanced firearm system. CZ redesigned the second-generation Bren from scratch, reducing weight and enhancing ergonomics. Shooters can choose from pistol and carbine models with options to personalize each. The Bren 2 Ms excels at today’s fast-paced shooting sports.

The Bren 2 Ms boasts a lighter construction thanks to an aluminum receiver and carbon fiber-reinforced polymer lower. Its simple design ensures extreme reliability while delivering outstanding accuracy.

Gone is the reciprocating charging handle. Instead, the Bren 2 Ms features one that stays stowed in the forward position until needed. It’s also swappable from side to side and doubles as a forward assist. An AR-style bolt catch/release system is mirrored on both sides of the firearm, and its catch/release is neatly tucked in the front of the trigger guard. The magazine release and safety are also ambidextrous and conveniently positioned.

The Bren 2 Ms Pistol comes in two popular chamberings of 5.56×45 and 7.62×39 and several barrel lengths from 8.3 inches (9.1 inches for 7.62×39) to 14.2 inches. As a pistol, the Bren 2 Ms features a flush rear plate that can attach an AR-style buffer tube to install an arm brace, cheek rest, or other stabilizing device. Conversely, a carbine buffer tube and stock can be installed, or the entire rear plate can be replaced with a factory folding or adjustable stock for those who wish to convert the pistol to a short-barrel rifle (SBR).

Pistols are available 5.56×45 or 7.62×39 with several barrel lengths. Each comes with a 30-round magazine. The ‘Ms’ designation denotes a modular forend that can be matched to the barrel length. CZ’s factory magazines ensure last-round hold-open and consistent feeding for 7.62×39 while, for 5.56×45, the Bren 2 is compatible with aftermarket AR-15 style magazines.

The CZ Bren 2 Ms Carbine is chambered in the popular 5.56×45. Equipped with mechanical sights, a longer 16.5-inch barrel, and a shoulder stock with a raised comb, the Carbine is optimized for accurate shooting at longer distances than the pistol.

The Carbine rifle is based on the select-fire system and operates via a short-stroke gas piston system with a return spring located within the action. Without a buffer tube, it accommodates an adjustable folding stock. Its overall length, at 38.5 inches long, folds down to just 28.3 inches for transport and storage.

Firearm Industry Inducts Three Standouts into NSSF Hall of Fame

LAS VEGAS — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association®, today honored three new inductees—Robert Delfay, Richard Hammett and Arthur Wheaton—to its Hall of Fame at the 2025 SHOT Show®. These career leaders were recognized for accomplishments that have significantly strengthened the firearm industry and expanded the shooting sports, hunting and firearm ownership.

Robert Scott, Chairman of the NSSF Board of Governors, praised the contributions of the three Hall of Fame inductees in remarks made at the annual NSSF Members Meeting at the SHOT Show. SHOT Show is the largest trade show of hunting, shooting, law enforcement and outdoor-related products in the world. More than 2,800 exhibitors are displaying their products and services at the 2025 show.

“On behalf of a grateful industry, it’s my honor to recognize Bob Delfay, Dick Hammett and Art Wheaton for their exemplary careers and their many professional accomplishments. They each played pivotal roles in creating a better future for the firearm industry and popularizing the shooting sports and hunting. They have earned our respect and praise,” said Bartozzi.

The inductees have their images and career highlights displayed in large panels erected in one of the most heavily trafficked corridors of the show. “The contributions of these three inductees are directly linked to the success of this great trade show and its importance to the millions of employees and customers connected to SHOT Show,” said Bartozzi.

The 2025 inductees to the NSSF Hall of Fame are:

Robert Delfay

Bob Delfay served 30 years with NSSF, including the last 10 years as its President and CEO. During his career, he was at the forefront of some of industry’s biggest, most impactful initiatives. These included developing the SHOT Show into the world’s largest trade show of its kind; the creation in 1971 of the first National Hunting and Fishing Day®, which Congress officially recognized to occur on the fourth Saturday of every September; and the formation of the Hunting and Shooting Sports Heritage Fund that was supported by 200 companies to fight frivolous lawsuits filed by municipalities. In retirement, Delfay didn’t rest as he helped establish a 10-year, $1 million dollar grant program, in partnership with NSSF, to benefit the future of hunting and conservation.

Richard Hammett

Dick Hammett spent 42 years with Olin Corporation in finance, marketing and senior management roles. He was President of the Winchester Division from 2002 until his retirement in 2011. Hammett was both a passionate sportsman and industry leader, having served on the Board of Governors for both NSSF and the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute®. Hammett was an ardent champion and supporter of youth shooting sports programs, including 4-H, the Youth Shooting Sports Alliance and the Scholastic Clay Target Program, and he was an advisory board member for Kids and Clays, an organization that raises money for Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Arthur Wheaton

The Chairman of NSSF’s Board of Governors from 2002 to 2007, Art Wheaton has maintained a focus throughout his life on conservation, hunting and the responsible use of firearms. He spent more than four decades with Remington Arms Company, starting as a junior engineer and eventually retiring as Vice President General Manager Worldwide Sales in 2001. NSSF launched major programs during Wheaton’s tenure as Chairman, including Families Afield, Hunting Heritage Partnership and First Shots®. Wheaton supported NSSF’s expansion of retailer-focused services, and he championed the growth of NSSF’s fledgling Scholastic Clay Target Program, which today has more than 21,000 high school athletes participating in 47 states.

“The NSSF Hall of Fame and its remarkable inductees remind us of the pride we take in our industry and in the firearm-owning community and what our leaders then and now stand for—the freedom to make, own and use firearms responsibly in America,” said Bartozzi.

ASA Supports Reintroduction of the PARTS Act to Clarify Suppressor Definitions

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the American Suppressor Association (ASA) issued a statement of support for the reintroduction of the Protecting Americans’ Right to Silence (PARTS) Act for the 119th Congress. The bill, co-sponsored by U.S. Representatives August Pfluger (R-Texas) and Jared Golden (D-Maine), is a bipartisan proposal aimed at reforming the outdated definition of “firearm silencer” under the Gun Control Act.

“Americans should not be subject to onerous and complicated bureaucracy to safely exercise their rights. Our laws must provide greater clarity to consumers, manufacturers, and retailers of firearm suppressors,” said Knox Williams, President and Executive Director of the American Suppressor Association. “The PARTS Act will reduce regulatory ambiguity and will better align federal law with current technology. On behalf of the suppressor community, the American Suppressor Association applauds Representatives Pfluger, Golden, and their colleagues for their leadership and is proud to support this legislation that will benefit the suppressor industry and all law-abiding gun owners.”

The PARTS Act is co-sponsored by Ben Cline (Va.-06), Michael Rulli (Ohio-33), Mike Ezell (Miss.-04), Claudia Tenney (N.Y.-24), Jack Bergman (Mich.-01), Brian Babin (Texas-36), Riley Moore (W.Va.-02), and Mike Collins (Ga.-10).

Background

  • The PARTS Act refines the definition of a suppressor, narrowing it to cover complete devices or a single essential component, such as a frame or receiver. This shift eliminates the ambiguity of broader terms that have been used in the past, such as “combination of parts,” which has led to regulatory confusion.
  • The PARTS Act eliminates unnecessary paperwork that the ATF requires upon the purchase of consumable suppressor parts, such as wipes. This would be similar to the process during the purchase of other non-serialized firearm components. The PARTS Act will ensure greater access to these parts for legal suppressor owners.
  • The bill also addresses and heads off regulatory concerns that were raised in an open letter to the ATF in November 2023, to prevent plans to classify certain suppressor parts as regulated suppressors.
  • As suppressor wait times reach historic lows, the PARTS Act will better ensure that the growing popularity of suppressed shooting remains accessible and protected under clear, common-sense regulations.
  • This legislation intends to protect access to the market for everyday people while avoiding the regulatory reversals which have historically hurt consumers across industries.

ESCORT Shotguns Branches Out – Releasing an All-New Bolt Action Hunting Rifle – The ERX

Rogers, AR (January 21, 2025) – New for 2025, ESCORT Shotguns releases the ERX Series of bolt action rifles. The ERX is modeled with REM700 action, trigger, magazine, and optic footprints for ease of parts compatibility, and customization. Chambered in .308 WIN or .30-06 SPRG, the ERX provides the accuracy and modularity expected in modern designs with integrated features unheard of in most modern hunting rifles.

The .308 is available in an 18.5-inch barrel, while the .30-06 is offered in either 20 or 24 inches. Both calibers offer a 1:10 twist rate. The 4140 CRMO steel barrel is button rifled, and gas nitride treated with black chrome plating for superior protection and durability. It is then completed with 5/8”-24 threads with an included muzzle brake. The AICS compatible magazine fed rifle adds new options to level up available bolt action rifles. The thumb paddle magazine release at the front of the metal trigger guard makes reloading quick and easy. Safety is a standard and easy to use safety switch that takes guesswork out of safe operation. The bolt release is conveniently located opposite the safety switch on the left side of the receiver.

Based on the REM700 action footprint, internals are standard with 4140 CRMO steel recessed bolt construction. However, an M16 style extractor is incorporated into the design, enhancing the ERX features even further. 6-48 drilled and tapped screw holes allow for ease of mounting REM700 optic footprint options.

ERX Series Rifles are suitable for all weather conditions. The action is placed in a synthetic stock packed with features. QD sling mounts and sling studs are integrated into the front and rear of the stock, offering various carry options. Likewise, expert control is provided with an inlaid soft rubber grip and forearm sections. An adjustable elevation cheek rest makes optics choices straightforward as users can adjust their shooting position based on the optic and not be limited by specific optics choices. The rear of the stock is equipped with an adjustable length of pull by use of the included 3 – 10mm spacers for a custom fit. The stock is then capped with a soft rubber butt pad designed to efficiently reduce felt recoil.

Attachments and accessories are easily fitted to the ERX Series Rifles with an integrated Picatinny accessory rail at the front of the stock under the barrel. By incorporating the rail, adjustable cheek rest, metal trigger guard, and REM700 spec footprints, users can outfit their ERX Rifle for specific needs or hunting requirements.

Designed for professionals and consumers alike, it combines an impressive 1,800 lumens, 26,000 candela, and a two-hour run time on high.

“The MegaStream USB is built for those who demand high-performance lighting in a compact, everyday carry package,” said Michael F. Run times range from 13 hours on the Low setting to two hours on High.

The new light is powered by a 3,500mAh Streamlight SL-B34® lithium-ion battery pack, which can be charged inside or outside of the flashlight. A push-button tail cap switch allows for momentary or constant operation, and a sliding head cover protects the USB-C charging port.

Constructed from machined aluminum alloy with a Type II MIL-Spec anodized finish, the MegaStream USB is built to withstand tough conditions. It features an unbreakable polycarbonate lens, is IPX7-rated waterproof to one meter for 30 minutes, and is 2-meter impact resistance tested.

The Scorpion 3+ Carbine was developed based on customer feedback from CZ’s most ardent consumers, military and law enforcement. AFSP Launches Toolkit for Firearms Instructors Aimed at Suicide Prevention


AFSP sets goal to recruit 500 firearms instructors at SHOT Show 2025 and continue its lifesaving mission through firearms education and safety

Firearms instructors can further help to save lives by including suicide prevention messaging in firearms courses. Today, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), one of the leading suicide research and prevention organizations in the U.S., launched its Suicide Prevention Toolkit for Firearms Instructors. Through a short, scripted slide deck comprised of evidence informed content, instructors will have more tools to easily educate participants in their firearms courses on how to prevent suicide in homes and in their communities.

“While 61% of firearms owners in the U.S. have received formal instruction in safety, most firearms courses to date do not include suicide prevention in their curriculum,” said Ryan Price, MPA, director of special projects, AFSP. “Suicide accounts for more than half of all firearms related deaths in the U.S. Including suicide prevention in firearms safety courses is critical and I’m so proud of the work AFSP has done to launch this toolkit, help instructors – with the goal of recruiting 500 firearms instructors at SHOT Show – and continue its mission to save lives.”

AFSP recognizes we must take a proactive education safety approach to address firearms and suicide. This starts with recognizing misconceptions about lethal means. According to the 2024 Public Perception of Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Poll, a critical educational gap exists, with only half of adults (49%) polled knowing that limiting access to lethal means, including firearms, can prevent suicide. AFSP is working to educate the public and provide steps they can take to minimize the risk posed when mental health struggles exist. In addition to the newly launched Toolkit for Firearms Instructors, the organization offers Talk Saves Lives: An Introduction to Suicide Prevention, a community-based presentation that also covers firearms and educates about secure storage.

AFSP representatives will be onsite at SHOT Show at booth 42307 and the organization’s own Ryan Price will be featured on a panel during SHOT University: New Efforts in the Industry’s Fight to Reduce Suicide, taking place Thursday, January 23, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. PT in the Murano Ballroom. Federal Firearms Licensees (FFL) and shooting ranges are among the most important partners in the firearm industry’s efforts to educate staff and customers on how to prevent suicide. The discussion will delve into efforts in the fight against suicide in this community.

From offering suicide prevention education for retailers, range owners and firearms owners to encouraging secure storage, AFSP is taking action through public education, advocacy, and research to save lives. To help make suicide prevention education a basic component of firearms ownership, AFSP has worked in ongoing partnership with NSSF to help distribute materials to its national network of retailers and ranges developing brochures to provide practical guidance to firearm owners on suicide prevention, and for firearms retailers and range owners in the rare event that a suicide occurs at the facility. AFSP encourages firearm instructors to share these resources with the retailers and ranges they work with.

Streamlight Launches High-Candela ProTac Rail Mount HP-X Pro

Multi-Fuel Long Gun Light Offers 105,000 Candela and 648 Meter Beam Reach

EAGLEVILLE, PA, January 21, 2024 – Streamlight® Inc., a leading provider of high-performance lighting and weapon light/laser sighting devices, introduced the ProTac® Rail Mount HP-X Pro long gun light, with 800 lumens and 105,000 candela for a far-reaching beam of 648 meters. The new light also has a Jack-Cap® tail cap switch that offers both push-button or remote pressure switch operation, and battery versatility, allowing users to choose between two different battery types.

The lightweight, low-profile ProTac Rail Mount HP-X Pro features a rugged, integrated rail clamp designed to rapidly and securely attach to rifles, carbines and sub-machine guns with a MIL-STD 1913 (Picatinny) rail or, by using an optional included M-LOK® mount, to M-LOK or M-LOK compatible rail systems. It is powered by either two 3-volt CR123A lithium batteries or one Streamlight SL-B26® protected lithium-ion rechargeable battery pack. This multi-fuel option allows for use of primary disposable batteries if the rechargeable cell is out of power.

“This is Streamlight’s furthest reaching weapon-mounted light,” said Streamlight President and Chief Executive Officer Ray Sharrah. “It’s designed for law enforcement professionals, military personnel, and outdoor users when illuminating targets at a distance, conducting search operations, or performing other maneuvers under low-light conditions. Moreover, it lets users choose between using a push-button or remote pressure switch, and either rechargeable or disposable batteries.”

The new light mounts to a broad range of weapons safely and securely by means of a one-handed, snap-on-and-tighten interface that permits users to keep their hands away from the gun muzzle. The light’s multi-function, push-button tail switch offers momentary and latching constant-on operation; the optional remote switch is available in momentary-only and momentary/latching versions. Both allow for one-handed operation of the light’s momentary, constant-on, or strobe modes. The light is also TEN-TAP® programmable to allow for selection of three different programs: high/strobe (factory default), high-only, or low/high.

The ProTac Rail Mount HP-X Pro uses the latest in LED technology for extreme brightness, delivering 800 lumens, 105,000 candela, and a 648-meter beam distance on High. On Low, it provides 55 lumens, 7,600 candela, and a beam distance of 174 meters.

The new light runs for up to two hours on High and 26 hours on Low when using an SL-B26 battery pack. With two CR123As inserted, the light’s run time is up to 1.5 hours on High and 21 hours on Low. The run time for the strobe feature is up to 3.5 hours depending on the type of battery used.

The ProTac Rail Mount HP-X Pro is fabricated from 6000 series machined aircraft aluminum. It measures 5.63 inches in length and weighs 6.4 ounces with two CR123A batteries and 7.0 ounces with an SL-B26 rechargeable battery. When using the standard push-button switch, it is IP67-rated for waterproof operation to one meter for 30 minutes, and is IP54-rated for water-resistant operation with the remote pressure switch installed.

The ProTac Rail Mount HL-X Pro is available as a Light Only or as a System, which includes a momentary remote pressure switch, retaining clips, double-sided tape, zip ties, and an M-LOK® mount.

It has an MSRP that ranges from $210.00 to $266.00 depending on the configuration, and includes Streamlight’s Limited Lifetime Warranty.
