Easton, Md. (January 2025) – RETAY USA, the North American sales and distribution for RETAY ARMS, makers of innovative shotguns, is proud to introduce the Air Control Extreme (ACE), the next generation in Inertia Plus™ shotguns, designed specifically to meet the needs of the most demanding waterfowl hunters. Built on the legacy of the Masai Mara and enhanced with 16 all-new performance features, the ACE is engineered to deliver reliability, innovation, and value. Available in Summer 2025, this new offering will be on display at the SHOT Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, Jan. 21 – 24, 2024, at RETAY USA’s Booth 70743 in Caesars Forum.

Everyone has different tastes, so RETAY made the ACE in a style to suit the individual shooter’s preference. The ACE lineup includes two distinctive receiver designs – a standard “slope back” receiver and a slight “humpback” version called the TYPE-R – allowing hunters to choose the style that best fits their preference. Both designs share the same premium features and internal parts with only a slight difference in appearance, as the ACE TYPE-R features a slightly raised receiver for enhanced handling.

The improved light load cycling ensures consistent performance across the broadest range of shells of any RETAY shotgun. The cut-out loading port facilitates easy and quick reloading, while the improved Inertia Plus blot design enhances reliability and reduces cycling friction. The ACE is compatible with Benelli extended magazine tubes and Crio Plus chokes, offering greater versatility. The stainless steel recoil buffer spring ensures long-term durability and corrosion resistance.

The recoil-reducing “Airy” Recoil Pad, combined with a soft stock comb pad, reduces felt recoil by 30 percent for a more comfortable shooting experience. The receiver is drilled and tapped to accept Benelli rail mounts, allowing for easy installation of scopes or red dot sights. The redesigned ergonomic stock and forend provide a more comfortable and secure grip. The adjustable length of pull, utilizing the Airy Pad System, allows for customization to fit different shooters. The oversized easy-grip forend cap enhances control and maneuverability.

The reversible safety button is easily adaptable for left- or right-handed users. The redesigned oversized charging handle offers improved leverage and ease of operation. The no-snag buffer tail prevents the buffer from snagging on clothing or gear. Finally, the oversized bolt release provides a larger target for quick and positive operation.

The ACE and ACE TYPE-R are available in 12GA 3.5,” 20GA 3,” and 28GA 3” configurations, with a choice of drilled 28” or 26” barrels featuring optimized forcing cones. The MSRP starts at $1,049, making this advanced shotgun an attainable option for waterfowl enthusiasts everywhere. Both models come with RETAY’s limited lifetime warranty, ensuring peace of mind for years to come.

LAS VEGAS – NSSF^®, the Firearm Industry Trade Association, is excited to announce a call for presentations for its Educational Sessions at the 2025 NSSF Range-Retail Business Expo™. This highly anticipated event will take place on July 16-17 in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Since its inception in 2019, the NSSF Range-Retailer Business Expo has become the premier gathering for established firearm retailers, shooting ranges and startups. This dynamic knowledge-sharing event features a dedicated range and retail trade show alongside extensive networking opportunities and exceptional educational sessions aimed at helping fuel success.

Presentation Details

Proposed presentations should be designed for a maximum length of 45 minutes, including time allocated for audience questions and answers. The objective of these presentations is to provide attendees with valuable insights and action items to assist with their efforts in growing and protecting their businesses.

All presentation submissions must be received by February 28, 2025. Proposals submitted after this date will not be considered.

Selected presenters will receive notification via email by March 7, 2025, regarding their acceptance status.

Please note that the selection of presentations is at the sole discretion of the NSSF.

Guevara brings decades of legal, operational and leadership experience within the firearm industry to his new role on the board.

In his current position at GLOCK, Guevara oversees a broad range of critical functions, including Legal Compliance, HR, Marketing, Media Relations, Import/Exports, Finance, Quality, and Environmental Health and Safety operations.

Prior to his tenure at GLOCK, Guevara served as corporate counsel for multinational corporations and later held the position of General Counsel at Xerox Corporation’s subsidiary in Colombia. He joined GLOCK in 1999 as Import/Export Department Manager and was promoted to General Counsel and Corporate Secretary in 2006. By 2012, he had earned the title of Vice President of GLOCK, a role in which he has excelled, driving significant contributions to the company’s U.S. operations.

NSSF Celebrates $1.3 Billion to States for Wildlife Conservation

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, celebrates the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s (USFWS) announcement that $1.3 billion is being delivered to state conservation and wildlife access programs. The distribution of funds is derived from the Pittman-Robertson excise taxes paid by firearm and ammunition manufacturers and Dingell-Johnson excise taxes paid by the angling industry.

A total of $886,499,121 of the $1.3 billion of those funds are directly sourced from firearm and ammunition excise taxes paid by manufacturers. Firearm and ammunition manufacturers have paid over $29 billion into the fund since its inception in 1937, when adjusted for inflation. These funds directly contribute to wildlife conservation through the Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act and provide funding for conservation programs, increased access to public lands and hunter education.

“The firearm industry is tremendously proud of the contributions we make to conserving our wildlife and the habitats wildlife need to thrive for generations to come,” said NSSF President and CEO Joe Bartozzi. “Our industry is at the forefront of wildlife conservation. Each time a recreational shooter or hunter purchases a firearm or ammunition, they are helping to support wildlife conservation through the excise taxes paid by our industry on the sale of those products. The American model of conservation funding is the gold standard throughout the world for sustainable conservation and wildlife management.”

The excise tax is set at 11 percent of the wholesale price for long guns and ammunition and 10 percent of the wholesale price for handguns. The excise tax, paid by manufacturers and importers, applies to all firearms and ammunition imported or sold domestically to the commercial market and federal law enforcement sales, whether the purpose is for recreational shooting, hunting or personal defense. The tax is administered by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) of the Department of the Treasury, which turns the funds over to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS).

USFWS deposits the Pittman-Robertson excise tax revenues into a special account called the Wildlife Restoration Trust Fund administered by the USFWS. These funds are made available to states and territories the year following their collection based on a statutory formula. These excise tax dollars collected since 1937 under the Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act are specifically designated to be used by state wildlife agencies for conservation and related purposes. Collectively, purchasers of firearms and ammunition, hunters and the firearm and ammunition industry are the greatest source of wildlife conservation funding.

TNVC’s origins are firmly rooted in a “Veteran Enthusiast” place that begins with owner and founder Victor DiCosola, an Air Force veteran who went on to work in the aerospace industry. In the late-1990s and early-2000s, Vic, like many of you, became fascinated by night vision and night vision technology. The night vision market at that time, however, was far different than it is today (as was most of the firearms and tactical market). While not illegal for civilians to own, most companies at the time regarded night vision as an almost exclusively government product, there was almost no real, good, accurate information about night vision available, and little to no interest in marketing or selling to commercial users. Those vendors that would sell to commercial customers were international brokers who started out importing and selling Soviet Bloc surplus in the 1990s after the fall of the Soviet Union. Given the general lack of publicly available information, knowledge, and experience about night vision technology at the time, the night vision industry had attracted quite a few… shady characters.

TNVC began in 2005 when Vic himself was scammed by one of those shady dealers. The frustration and anger about being taken for a ride by a dealer led him to pursue becoming a night vision dealer himself—a different kind of night vision dealer than what had existed before, one dedicated not to making high margins on government sales and taking advantage of the lack of publicly available information and selling inferior products to the commercial market. Rather, the vision, from the start, was to provide knowledge and education and to provide the best available capabilities to the commercial market.

TEXAS AIR NATIONAL GUARD’S 111^th ATTACK SQUADRON NAMED RPA SQUADRON OF THE YEAR

SAN DIEGO – 15 January 2025 – The Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies and General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) presented the 2023 Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) Squadron of the Year Award to the 111^th Attack Squadron (ATKS) of the Texas Air National Guard, Joint Base Ellington Field, Texas. The award was presented at a ceremony at Ellington Field’s Lone Star Flight Museum on January 11, 2025. The award is given annually to the Squadron that distinguishes itself through its employment of RPA in meritorious service.

The award was presented by GA-ASI CEO Linden Blue and Lt. Gen. (Ret.) David Deptula of the Mitchell Institute.

The 111^th ATKS “Aces” distinguished themselves as the first Air Force MQ-9A unit to achieve full operational capability in the newly fielded Satellite Launch and Recovery system. Additionally, during Exercise Air Defender, they executed the first Satellite Launch and Recovery operation at a civilian European airfield.

“I couldn’t be prouder of all the nominated units for their outstanding performance in 2023,” said Blue. “But the 111th Attack Squadron truly set the bar, achieving a flawless 100 percent execution rate. Their hard work supported eight named operations across three continents, nine operating areas, and six launch and recovery sites. That kind of dedication and precision doesn’t just happen—it’s a testament to their incredible leadership, teamwork and commitment.”

The Aces have paved the way for future RPA operations and demonstrated the ability of highly trained airmen equipped with cutting-edge combat capabilities to defend this great nation.

“It was an intense training ambition, but the 111^th led the United States Air Force, under the unit’s own initiative, to be the first squadron to achieve full operational capability with the MQ-9A’s new Satellite Launch and Recovery capability, all while maintaining an exemplary 100 percent sortie execution rate,” said Lt. Col. Nathan Rieber, 111^th ATKS Commander.

These accomplishments distinctly identify the Aces as the Air Force’s most outstanding RPA squadron.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, the Firearm Industry Trade Association, released the Firearm Production in the United States including the Firearm Import and Export Data 2024 Edition (reporting 2022 data) to its members. The report compiles the most up-to-date information based on data sourced from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ (ATF’s) Annual Firearms Manufacturing and Export Reports (AFMER). Key findings for public release showed:

The estimated total number of firearms in civilian possession from 1990-2022 is 491.3 million, according to data in reports such as ATF Firearms Commerce in the United States, ATF Annual Firearms Manufacturing and Exportation Reports and Congressional Research Service and including the collective ATF Annual Firearms Manufacturing and Exportation Report (AFMER) reports up to the 2022 edition.
Total firearm domestic production reported in the 2022 AFMER was 10,011,200 – a decrease of 20.0 percent from 2021 reported figures.
Data indicates that 30,711,000 Modern Sporting Rifles (MSRs) are in circulation since 1990.
Modern Sporting Rifle production decreased 30.7 percent from 2021 to 2022. This increased the estimated amount of MSRs produced (since 1990) by 9.1 percent from 28.1 million to 30.7 million.
In 2022, 16,045,911 total firearms were made available for the U.S. market, which includes firearms that were domestically produced plus those imported, minus exported firearms. Of those, 9,873,136 were handguns, 4,195,192 were rifles and 1,977,583 were shotguns.
Firearm and ammunition manufacturing accounted for over 13,400 employees producing over $5.8 billion in goods shipped in 2022.
From 1990 to 2022, 270,799,283 firearms have been made available to the U.S. market

“This report reflects what we witnessed in 2022, as background checks for the sale of a firearm at retail were coming off the peaks of 2020 and 2021. American firearm manufacturers adjusted their production schedules and continued to deliver the highest quality firearms for law-abiding Americans, said NSSF President and CEO Joe Bartozzi. “This is indicative of the resilience of the U.S. firearm manufacturing sector and the U.S. firearm sales markets and the continuing demand signal for Americans who choose to exercise their Second Amendment rights. The data continues to show that the Modern Sporting Rifle is the most popular centerfire rifle sold in America today with over 30.7 million in circulation and being used for lawful purposes every day. The continued popularity of handguns demonstrates a strong interest by Americans to protect themselves and their homes, and to participate in the recreational shooting sports.”

NSSF Welcomes U.S. Sen. Jim Risch’s Sporting Firearms Access Act Introduction

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, welcomes U.S. Sen. Jim Risch’s S. 89, the Sporting Firearms Access Act, to remove roadblocks to importing sporting firearms and ammunition that law-abiding Americans exercising their Second Amendment rights want to purchase. This legislation will advance fair and free trade and increase consumer choice by removing subjectivity. The bill would allow the import of firearms when similar products are domestically produced and available for sale in the United States.

“The Sporting Firearms Access Act will bring clarity to the 1968 Gun Control Act and make clear that the ATF sporting-purposes test does not prohibit from importation firearms and ammunition products that can be used for hunting, recreational target shooting and competitive shooting competitions or where similar products are available from U.S. manufacturers for these same purposes,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “Senator Risch’s legislation will ensure that bureaucratic interpretations of the law cannot arbitrarily deny Americans of the ability to legally obtain imported firearms and ammunition for what are clearly sporting purposes. We commend Senator Risch for his leadership and urge passage of this bill.”

The Sporting Firearms Access Act clarifies the definition of “sporting purposes” used by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to regulate import of firearms into the United States. The new definition would recognize firearms and ammunitions used for activities such as hunting, target shooting and competitions. Under the Gun Control Act of 1968, firearms and ammunition can only be imported if the ATF recognizes it as being suitable for “sporting purposes.” Ambiguity in the law has allowed the ATF to arbitrarily deny imports of firearms by U.S. customers and businesses.

The Sporting Firearms Access Act would prohibit the ATF from denying items that are substantially similar to those in circulation in the United States and require the ATF to work with the firearms industry to determine what items are suitable for sporting purposes. The bill also provides an appeals process for wrongful determinations and a means for judicial review.

Hearing Protection Act Reintroduced

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Ben Cline (R-VA-06), joined by 38 additional House Members, reintroduced the ASA-supported Hearing Protection Act in the 119th Congress as H.R. 404.

“Americans who enjoy hunting and target shooting should be able to do so safely and legally without facing burdensome government regulations,” said Rep. Cline. “The Hearing Protection Act will reclassify suppressors, making it easier for law-abiding gun owners to protect their hearing while enjoying recreational activities. It’s time to ensure that our Second Amendment rights are upheld, allowing responsible citizens to enjoy their freedoms without unnecessary obstacles.”

The Hearing Protection Act would remove suppressors from the burdensome requirements of the National Firearms Act (NFA) and require purchasers to pass an instant NICS check, the same background check used during the sale of long guns. This change will make it is easier for law-abiding hunters and sportsmen to access these hearing safety devices.

“The Hearing Protection Act is the epitome of commonsense legislation. Law-abiding citizens should not have to pay a tax to protect their hearing when they exercise their Second Amendment rights,” said Knox Williams, President and Executive Director of ASA. “The American Suppressor Association applauds Rep. Cline for his leadership and willingness to fight for the rights of gunowners across the United States. We look forward to continuing productive conversations with members of Congress and the incoming administration to ensure the best policy outcomes for the suppressor industry and entire gun-owning community.”
