The American Black Walnut stock and forend are fitted with integral front and stud rear sling swivel mounts for a variety of sling attachments. The pistol grip buttstock utilizes a 1” Pachmayr Decelerator pad to tame recoil, along with the “tank” style brake at the muzzle. The buttstock and forend are given multiple coats of a durable synthetic satin finish to withstand the elements. The wood is then glass-bedded to the metal parts, ensuring extra accuracy and durability. The standard Skinner rear sight is mated with a fiber optic front sight for faster target acquisition. The large, hunter-friendly curved lever enables ease of operation, even with gloved hands.

The receivers and steel parts are manufactured using 17-4PH stainless steel, and barrels are made using 416 stainless steel. Proudly built in the USA, the SpikeDriver Tactical continues the rich legacy of American firearms design and development. NSSF Commends Bicameral Bills to Halt State Excise Taxes on Firearms

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF^®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, commends the introduction of the Freedom from Unfair Gun Taxes Act, introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives by U.S. Reps. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) and Richard Hudson (R-N.C.) as H.R. 2442 and in the U.S. Senate by U.S. Sen. Jim Risch as S. 1169. The bicameral legislation would prohibit states from implementing excise taxes on firearms and ammunition to fund gun control programs.

“States that are hostile to the firearm industry and Second Amendment freedoms have abused their ability to levy taxes on the sale of firearms and ammunition as a ‘sin tax.’ Exercising a right – whether it is your First Amendment freedoms, Second Amendment or Fourth or Fifth Amendment freedoms – is not a sin,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “The idea that law-abiding citizens who responsibly exercise their Second Amendment rights must bear the cost to fund programs designed to denigrate that very right is anathema to free exercise of our rights. This is akin to the unconstitutional poll taxes that were struck down by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1966. The lawmakers in the states that levy these taxes reveal their contempt for the Second Amendment and disdain for citizens who obey the law. NSSF is grateful to Congressmen Issa and Hudson, as well as Senator Risch, for their principled stand against these taxes that are an affront to the free exercise of Constitutionally-protected rights.”

Currently, California adds an 11 percent excise tax on firearms, firearm parts and ammunition. Colorado passed legislation to add a 6.5 percent excise tax on firearm and ammunition sales beginning April 1, 2025. Several other state legislatures – including Maryland, Massachusetts, New Mexico, New York and Washington have proposed similar “sin taxes” on law-abiding citizens seeking to lawfully exercise their Constitutionally-protected rights to keep and bear arms.

Firearm and ammunition manufacturers already pay a 10 and 11 percent federal excise tax on all firearms and ammunition, which funds wildlife conservation, habitat restoration, public land access, construction of public recreational marksmanship ranges and hunter education in all 50 states. This “user-pays” system has generated over $29 billion, when adjusted for inflation, for conservation through the Pittman-Robertson excise tax since its inception in 1937. The Pittman-Robertson excise tax enhances the exercise of the Second Amendment rights and enables passing on the American heritage of hunting and recreational sports shooting to the next generation.

These state excise taxes, however, are entirely different. The state excise taxes are a “sin tax” and the funds generated by the lawful sales to law-abiding citizens are used to fund gun control efforts designed to suppress the free exercise of Second Amendment rights. These taxes are punitive measures, intended to burden law-abiding gun and ammunition purchasers with a shame that is reserved for those criminals that misuse firearms. None of these taxes will be borne by those criminally misusing firearms, as even the Department of Justice (DOJ) Bureau of Justice Statistics reports show that 90 percent of criminals convicted of using a firearm in the commission of a crime admit they illegally acquired that firearm through illicit means.

NSSF Praises Pennsylvania Supreme Court Decision Upholding PLCAA

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF^®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, praises the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s unanimous decision to uphold the bipartisan Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA), which reversed the Pennsylvania Superior Court’s decision to allow the frivolous lawsuit of Gustafson v. Springfield, Inc. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s decision held that the PLCAA is constitutional and applies to bar the lawsuit.

NSSF filed an amicus brief to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court supporting the defendants when this case was briefed in 2023.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court joins the supreme courts of Missouri, Alaska, Illinois and the U.S. District Court of Appeals – the highest court in the District of Columbia – in upholding the constitutionality of the PLCAA. To date, every state or federal appellate court to consider the constitutionality of the PLCAA has upheld the statute.

While it does not implicate the constitutionality of the PLCAA, the U.S. Supreme Court is considering a case, Estados Unidos Mexicanos v. Smith & Wesson Brands, Inc., et al., in which U.S. firearm manufacturers are petitioning the Supreme Court to reverse the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit’s decision to allow Mexico’s frivolous $10 billion lawsuit to proceed on grounds that the PLCAA prohibits such lawsuits.

“NSSF is pleased by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s decision holding that the PLCAA is constitutional and prevents lawsuits that attempt to blame members of the firearm industry for the criminal misuse of a lawfully sold firearm,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF’s Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “While we are sympathetic to the heartbreaking loss the Gustafson family suffered, this tragic incident was the result of the criminal misuse of the firearm and the irresponsible negligence of the owner of the firearm who failed to safely secure it to prevent unauthorized access by an unsupervised juvenile. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s unanimous decision shows, once again, that the PLCAA is solidly rooted in foundational tort law.”

Justice Sallie Updyke Mundy, writing for a unanimous court, held that the plain language of the PLCAA prohibits the plaintiffs’ claims in this case. One justice did not participate in the consideration or decision. The court agreed that alleged harm to the Gustafson family resulted from the juveniles’ “criminal or unlawful misuse” of a firearm. It also found that the juvenile intentionally discharged the firearm, negating claims of product liability exceptions under the PLCAA. The court further held that the PLCAA does not violate the Commerce Clause, the Tenth Amendment or principles of federalism.

McLean, VA — March 27, 2025) FN America, LLC is pleased to announce that the company has been awarded a firm-fixed-price IDIQ contract, valued up to $39,643,953, to supply the U.S. Department of Defense’s (DoD) Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Land and Maritime with barrels for M240 and M249 machine guns.

“The contract to provide barrels for M240 and M249 machine guns is a testament to our partnership with the U.S. DoD, a partnership that dates to the early 1980s,” said Mark Cherpes, President and CEO for FN America, LLC. “We’re incredibly honored to support the U.S. military with the highest-quality cold hammer-forged barrels. The durability and accuracy of FN barrels provides our servicemen and women with the most effective and highest performing products available.”

FN collaborates with and is a key partner of DLA Land and Maritime, a combat support agency within the U.S. DoD and one of the largest suppliers of spare parts that support land-based and maritime weapon systems. DLA Land and Maritime serves over 20,000 customers throughout all U.S. military branches, civil agencies and other DoD organizations.

The M240 general purpose machine gun, derived from the FN MAG 58, was adopted by the U.S. military in the late 1970s and has been in continual service since being introduced. FN has created multiple variants of the M240, including the M240 coaxial, the M240B, M240L, M240D and M240H models. The FN^® M249 has been a mainstay throughout the U.S. military since 1986 and is currently in service in more than 30 countries.

Throughout its history, FN has been one of the largest suppliers of small arms to the U.S. military and continues to develop innovative, future technology. In addition to the M240 and its variants, the company currently holds contracts for the FN^® M249 lightweight machine gun; the FN^® MK 46, MK 48, MK 17 and MK 20 SSR for USSOCOM, and various other contracts.

A Girl & A Gun Members Learn Vehicle Maneuvers at DRIFT Academy

A Girl & A Gun Hosts Successful DRIFT Academy at Virginia International Raceway

Alton, VA – (AGirlandAGun.org) – A Girl & A Gun (AG & AG) proudly hosted its DRIFT Academy at Virginia International Raceway (VIR) from March 18-20, 2025. The event brought together attendees from across the United States for an immersive experience in advanced driving skills, personal protection, and tactical vehicle maneuvers. The event was led by the expert cadre from RFH Tactical Mobility, who guided participants through hands-on training in dynamic environments.

DRIFT Academy welcomed AG & AG members from eight different states, offering a diverse group of women eager to enhance their driving capabilities and safety awareness. With a focus on both the practical and tactical aspects of driving, this immersive three-day academy provided essential training for those looking to expand their skill set in real-world scenarios.

The training sessions were designed to challenge participants and expand their knowledge in a variety of disciplines:

Individual Protective Measures & Situational Awareness: Attendees learned crucial techniques for staying aware and safe in a variety of situations, focusing on identifying surveillance devices, common locations of GPS monitors, and personal safety measures if being followed or tracked.
Vehicle Rollovers & Recovery: The course covered emergency vehicle situations, including vehicle rollovers, being blocked or barricaded by another vehicle, driver-down scenarios, and off-road recovery techniques.
Track Drills & High-Speed Training: Participants pushed their limits with driving techniques on VIR’s famous track, including slide corrections, slalom drills, stop boxes, swerve-to-avoid exercises, and high-speed tech-line racing. These drills were designed to sharpen handling abilities under pressure.
Close Proximity Driving: Another key focus of the event was close-proximity driving. Participants honed their skills for high-stakes situations, navigating tight spaces while maintaining control and awareness.
OC (Pepper Spray) Deployment: The course covered parking lot/parking garage safety, and tactical scenarios such as pepper spray deployment, providing attendees with the skills to respond effectively to real-life threats.
Vehicle Ballistics & Tactical Engagement: A deep dive into vehicle ballistics allowed participants to understand the crucial differences between cover and concealment, as well as tactical engagement strategies from within a vehicle.

“Participants gained essential, real-world skills for operating a vehicle in high-pressure situations, while also learning vital techniques for self-defense and protecting others in unpredictable scenarios,” said Robyn Sandoval, President & CEO of A Girl & A Gun. “We are proud to partner with RFH Tactical Mobility, whose experienced instructors shared invaluable expertise throughout the entire training.”

DRIFT Academy is a part of A Girl & A Gun’s continued commitment to empowering women with the skills and confidence to protect themselves, their loved ones, and their communities. By offering a unique blend of tactical driving and safety education, AG & AG continues to set the standard for high-caliber training opportunities for women of all backgrounds and experience levels.

The event received enthusiastic feedback from attendees, who were grateful for the chance to learn from expert instructors in a dynamic and hands-on setting. Many participants reported a marked boost in their comfort and confidence behind the wheel, especially when faced with high-pressure situations.

GA-ASI’S MEGAN KENDRICK WINS INFLUENCE IN ENGINEERING AWARD FROM SAN DIEGO BUSINESS JOURNAL

SAN DIEGO – 27 March 2025 – Megan Kendrick, a project engineer with Poway, California-based General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), has been recognized with the San Diego Business Journal’s Leader in Influence Award. GA-ASI is a global leader in Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS).

As a project engineer for GA-ASI, Ms. Kendrick has demonstrated outstanding leadership in overseeing program design, integration, and testing within the company’s Small UAS program. In December 2022, her contributions as chief engineer led to the successful first flight of an advanced new small UAS platform. Before that, she served as a valued contributor to the propulsion system of the MQ-1C Gray Eagle^®, the mainstay large UAS operated by the U.S. Army.

“We support some of the most important customers in the world with some of the most advanced science and technology anywhere today, but we can’t always talk publicly about what we do,” said Kendrick. “That’s why I’m so grateful for this recognition and what it lets us share about our team and our work.”

GA-ASI Vice President of Engineering Dee Wilson singled out Kendrick’s commitment to high-level execution on her program.

“This achievement is a testament to Megan’s hard work, dedication, and exceptional contributions,” Wilson said. “Megan’s passion for her work sets her apart, and this award recognizes her outstanding performance and commitment. Everyone at GA-ASI is incredibly proud to have her as a part of our team.”

Ms. Kendrick is an active member of GA-ASI’s Women’s Internal Network, serving as president from 2020 to 2022. She has worked diligently to promote opportunities in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education for women and has demonstrated a commitment to the development of K-12/university mentorship programs and a Female Executive Lunch and Learn series.

Ms. Kendrick earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of California, San Diego, in 2015.
