MLB Stars, celebrities, and veterans unite for two days of shooting and golfing from April 27 – 28, 2025, to raise funds for K9 Heroes 4 Heroes and the NRA.

Taking place on April 27 – 28, 2025, this unique event will bring together MLB stars, celebrities, industry leaders, and veterans for an unforgettable experience of camaraderie, competition, and giving back. All net proceeds from the event will benefit K9 Heroes 4 Heroes, which provides service dogs to veterans and first responders at no cost, and the NRA, offering mental health services, career transition assistance, and critical resources to veterans and their families.

The Legends and Heroes Shoutout will feature two days of exciting activities, starting on April 27, 2025, with the Range Day. Taking place at Markham Park Shooting Range in Sunrise, Florida, from 10 am to 3 pm, participants will have the opportunity to engage in dynamic shooting competitions using Shell Tech’s cutting-edge precision pistol and rifle ammunition. Instruction will be led by Jake Holt, a well-known firearms social media influencer from Regional Operations. Desert Tech, a Shooting Range Event Partner, will be providing a rifle demonstration featuring its latest innovative and custom weaponry. Competition prizes will be awarded from Four Brothers Custom Gun Holsters and Heritage Distilling Company. The overall winner of the shooting competition will win the Grand Prize which is an automatic entry into the NRA World Shooting Championship, where over 500 of the world’s top shooters compete for cash and prizes totaling over $250,000.

The second day, April 28, 2025, focuses on the charity golf tournament at The Club at Weston Hills in Weston, Florida. This tournament will feature a scramble-style format with multiple contests and challenges, including four separate hole-in-one contests with total prizes valued at $55,000, and a unique AR-15-style golf ball launcher experience. Participants can use this innovative launcher to tee off on a select Par 4, adding something different to the competition. The tournament will conclude with an outdoor grill lunch, an open bar, and an awards ceremony as well as an online auction to feature exclusive memorabilia and sponsor-donated items. NSSF Urges ATF to Heed Senators’ Call to Kill Unlawful Gun Control Regulations

WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, urges the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to heed the call by U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) and 29 other U.S. Senators to quickly act on President Donald Trump’s Executive Order to review and roll back unconstitutional gun control regulations and rules that were levied on the firearm industry by the previous White House administration.

A letter, sent to Marvin G. Richardson, ATF Deputy Director, specifically called on the agency to formally end the “engaged-in-the-business” rule, the pistol-brace rule, the “ghost gun” rule and ATF’s “zero tolerance” policy that has forced small business firearm retailers to lose or surrender their licenses for minor clerical errors discovered during inspections.

“The previous administration wielded the ATF like a hammer and anvil against the firearm industry, turning the regulatory agency into one that punished and carried out a radical gun control agenda designed to diminish Second Amendment rights. President Donald Trump – along with Senator John Cornyn and these dozens of other senators – are righting the ship and returning ATF to its mandated role as a law enforcement agency focused on combatting violent crime and to act as a non-partisan regulator of the firearm industry,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “The rules specifically identified by the senators were designed to punish the firearm industry and usher in gun control outside of the legislative process. NSSF has protested these rules ever since they were announced and is heartened that the Trump administration and the Senate is acting quickly to protect Second Amendment rights and the lawful firearm industry. NSSF encourages ATF to act quickly on Senator Cornyn’s letter and enact these reforms to roll back unconstitutional overreaches brought by the Biden administration.”

In addition to urging the ATF to roll back the punishing and unconstitutional measures, the Senate letter urges ATF to “immediately destroy the hundreds of millions of ATF Form 4473 firearm transaction records and other licensee records that are over 20 years old. These records have no particular law enforcement value but do contain the sensitive information of millions of law-abiding gun owners.”

NSSF concurs with this request as those two-decade-old background check forms hold little value providing actionable law enforcement leads to solve crimes. This action would ensure gun owners’ privacy is protected and reduce administrative burdens to firearm trace requests. Prior to the Biden administration, federal firearm licenses were not required to retain these records after 20 years.

AI Assistant Builder takes the nitty gritty guesswork out of building these models. It breaks down the tasks to just three easy steps: choose a ready-made AI assistant model, download and install it, and then launch the program.

“We’re providing the industry the building blocks to create their own AI-centric content. That enables our customers to reduce their overall development time and speed up the rollout of their own smart solutions,” explained Olena Zhu, senior principal engineer in Intel’s Client Computing Group.

This is how it works:

  • The app features a chat window where users can ask questions and upload or delete documents across numerous formats (including PDFs, spreadsheets, presentations and text files).
  • Each time the user asks a question, the AI assistant responds based on the query. It learns from the conversation history, related documents and the inherent knowledge of the large language model (LLM).
  • It also includes advanced AI safety guardrails that include profanity filters and a secondary safety system that guides the model to respond safely without bias.
  • It has ever-growing rich feature sets to allow users to pick and choose different advanced features and custom-build their own AI assistant.

Intel’s key partners are already using AI Assistant Builder to craft customized models for targeted needs:

  • Acer built an AI sales assistant proof of concept (POC) integrating its camera vision technology in just three days.
  • In South Korea, Intel and Samsung Electronics introduced a generative AI chatbot at Kyobo Bookstore that runs on-device – not the cloud. It’s based on smart LLMs and enables customers to search for books and receive personalized information.
  • Asus leveraged Intel’s technology to create a technical-focused Q&A assistant for its NUC customers.

AI Assistant Builder Speeds New Age of AI Helpers

Perfecting AI assistants from scratch is a time-intensive process that takes weeks, if not months, along with a deep knowledge of software programming and AI know-how.

Just months after it was first proposed, AI Assistant Builder was actively being used by original equipment manufacturers of PCs and independent software vendors around the world. And more customers are lining up to partner with Intel as their AI PC platforms mature.

“These AI assistants are powered by large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and other components optimized for performance and accuracy when run on AI PCs based on Intel CPUs, GPUs and NPUs,” said Zhu.

“Besides vertically optimized LLMs, each vertical or domain has its own set of workflows and feature requirements. At Intel, we also partner with our customers to customize workflows and AI features tailored to each customer.”

AI Assistant Builder will run on any Intel-powered AI PC that meets specific hardware requirements: At a minimum, it requires a PC running on an Intel® Core™ Ultra Processor (Series 1) with 16 gigabytes of RAM and Integrated Intel® Graphics. (In September, Intel introduced Intel® Core™ Ultra Processors (Series 2) with a 3x increase in AI performance at up to 50% lower power than its predecessor.)

Zhu points out another key benefit of the software: It runs entirely on the local machine, with no cloud connectivity required to process queries (an Internet connection is needed initially to download the toolkit). Running AI assistants locally on the PC also assuages security concerns.

“By running AI assistants locally on their AI PCs versus depending on cloud-based instances, users benefit from peace of mind and are in complete control over the security of their personal data,” explained Zhu.

In the Hands of Major Customers

Zhu and her team were ahead of the curve in predicting the need for a quick and easy AI builder that would bring AI PCs to life: They first sketched out the early framework behind AI Assistant Builder in February 2024.

By June – just five months later – the team had a viable prototype ready for customers.

Intel provides the software free of charge to its top customers, along with engineering consultancy and technical resources.

A Smart Camera Solution in Just 3 Days

Acer built a POC for a camera-assisted online sales assistant in just three days with Intel AI Assistant Builder.

Leveraging Acer’s camera vision technology, the assistant can recognize objects during videoconferences and provide information about products in the video feed.

The assistant is able to learn product features through RAG mechanisms provided by Intel AI Assistant Builder. Acer’s customers can leverage this solution on its AI PCs with Intel Core Ultra processors. (The Acer Swift 14 AI is an all-new AI PC from Acer that is powered by Intel Core Ultra Processors (Series 2) and sports all-day battery life of up to 29 hours.)

“With Intel AI Assistant Builder, more developers are now able to create their own AI assistants. We’re excited about the opportunities this brings, especially when integrating Acer’s camera vision technology,” said Mark Yang, associate vice president of Compute Software Technology at Acer Inc.

“Acer will continue to build on its longstanding partnership with Intel and help customers enable these applications through both hardware and software solutions.”

The contract with GA-ASI includes a firm order for 11 mission trainers, with the opportunity to deliver up to 50 devices over the next five years. The agreement brings together two industry leaders to enhance the training capabilities for operators of MQ-9B and builds on the long-standing business relationship between GA-ASI and CAE.

Recognized globally as the reference in synthetic training for RPAS, CAE leverages the latest visualization technology in the development of the next-generation MQ-9B SkyGuardian Mission Trainers. The trainers will employ the CAE Prodigy Image Generator to provide a highly realistic training environment to replicate flight operations. Powered by a state-of-the-art gaming engine, CAE Prodigy elevates training standards through an enhanced immersive training environment, high-fidelity graphics, and physics-based simulation. This cutting-edge technology enhances the realism and effectiveness of the training, ensuring that operators are well-prepared for their missions.

MQ-9B is the world’s most advanced RPAS delivering exceptionally long endurance and range, with auto takeoff and landing under pole-to-pole SATCOM-only control and will be able to operate in unsegregated airspace using the GA-ASI-developed Detect and Avoid system. MQ-9B includes the SkyGuardian and SeaGuardian® models, as well as the new Protector RG Mk1 that is currently being delivered to the United Kingdom’s Royal Air Force. The platform is building a global operator list, with procurement contracts signed with Belgium,  Canada, Poland, the Japan Coast Guard, the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, Taiwan, India, and the U.S. Air Force in support of Special Operations Command. MQ-9B has also supported various U.S. Navy exercises.

DeBolt is the CEO of Benelli USA and President of Stoeger Industries. Clark is the Founder and Co-owner of Bristlecone Shooting, Training & Retail Center in Lakewood, Colorado.

In his role as CEO, DeBolt oversees U.S. operations for all of Benelli USA’s business. He has been instrumental in driving the company’s success since joining in August, 2013. DeBolt brings extensive leadership experience along with a proven track record of strategic planning, cultural development and operational excellence, as well as his passion for hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation.

Clark and her husband, Bryan, opened the Bristlecone shooting and training facility in 2015 after their research showed that target-shooting enthusiasts in the Denver area were underserved. Bristlecone was awarded NSSF’s highest rating of Five Stars in 2017 and was voted Best Indoor Shooting Range in Denver by Westword in 2021. In addition to her business experience within and outside the firearm industry, Clark is a Certified Defensive Firearms Coach.

Ammunition Depot Renews Support for NSSF’s First Shots Program

WASHINGTON, D.C.—NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, extends its appreciation to Ammunition Depot for its unprecedented support as NSSF’s First Shots® ammunition supplier.

For the eighth consecutive year, Ammunition Depot will serve as First Shots’ ammunition fulfillment center. The company coordinates, stores and ships ammunition and covers shipping costs to host ranges in the First Shots program. First Shots is an introductory and refresher shooting program made available through host target-shooting ranges across the country.

Founded in 2011, Ammunition Depot is one of the largest online retailers and nationwide suppliers of ammunition, firearms, firearm accessories and tactical gear in the United States. The services provided by Ammunition Depot are valued at $20,000 annually in support of First Shots.

GA News: General Atomics and EDGE Establish Partnership To Manufacture, Test and Repair Electromechanical Systems

TEST AND REPAIR ELECTROMECHANICAL SYSTEMS


SAN DIEGO – 17 February 2025 – EPI, an entity of EDGE Group and the cornerstone of precision engineering in the UAE’s aerospace, oil and gas, and defense industries, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with General Atomics-Systems Integration, an affiliate of General Atomics.

The signing ceremony was held on February 17, 2025, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre during the International Defense Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) 2025.

“Through this collaboration, EPI will significantly expand its capabilities. This will include the establishment of a state-of-the-art facility to support the production of electromechanical systems,” said Michael Deshaies, CEO of EPI.

“Working with EPI will mark a leap forward in the development and manufacturing of this advanced aviation technology,” said General Atomics-Systems Integration Vice President Scott Sappenfield. “We expect to offer safe, affordable, high-performance solutions to replace legacy systems in military and commercial aircraft.”

This project is enabled by the Tawazun Council (Tawazun Economic Program). A key milestone in the project will be the certification of EPI’s facility as a Part 145 repair centre. This will involve the production airworthiness certification process and the test and evaluation of prototype units, ensuring compliance with the highest industry standards.
