Cody, Wyo. (March 2026) – Big Horn Armory (BHA), makers of big-bore firearms, will host a public Range Day on Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Wyoming Gun Company, in Casper, Wyoming, offering attendees a hands-on opportunity to experience some of the most powerful and innovative firearms on the market, including the Model 89 and the new CAT 5, both chambered in .500 S&W Magnum, and the AR500 Next Gen platform featuring several new colors. In addition to range time, attendees can enter BHA’s $500 Manufacturer Rebate Drawing, open to all event participants. Following the Range Day, BHA will attend the Dallas Safari Club of Wyoming Gala in Casper, Wyoming, from 4:30 p.m. to midnight. BHA representatives will be present to connect with attendees and celebrate Wyoming’s wildlife and hunting culture.
“The Range Day will give people a real, hands-on understanding of what our firearms can do,” said Greg Buchel, owner of Big Horn Armory. “There’s no substitute for pulling the trigger yourself – especially when you’re talking about platforms like the Model 89, the AR500 NEXT GEN, and the new Cat 5. Pairing that with suppressed shooting really changes the experience and shows just how versatile these rifles can be.”
Attendees will get an early look at new Cerakote® color offerings on the AR500 NEXT GEN platform, including Burnt Bronze, Desert Tan, and OD Green. BHA will also showcase its newest tactical lever-action offering, the CAT 5, chambered in .500 S&W Magnum. Developed in direct response to strong internal demand and customer requests, the CAT 5 delivers a more tactical configuration without sacrificing the raw performance that defines Big Horn Armory rifles.
The CAT 5 evolves the traditional lever gun through a comprehensive collaboration with Ranger Point Tactical, integrating a purpose-built fore-end and Picatinny-style scout rail system for enhanced mounting capability and modular adaptability. This configuration enables shooters to easily mount optics and accessories, transforming the lever gun into a contemporary, mission-ready platform. With a six-round capacity, 1:24 twist rate, and weighing approximately 7 lbs. 12 oz. with an overall length of 36 inches, the CAT 5 is compact, powerful, and built for decisive performance.
The Range Day will offer attendees an opportunity to shoot and explore BHA’s platforms in both suppressed and non-suppressed configurations. All suppressed shooting experiences will feature the Wyoming Tactical Firearms Barron Suppressor. The Barron is engineered for non-BMG .50 caliber cartridges, including .45-70 Government, .450 Bushmaster, .458 SOCOM, .50 Beowulf, .500 S&W Magnum, and .500 Auto Max. The fully welded suppressor features a universal 1.375”-24 TPI (HUB) thread pattern and includes one direct thread adapter.
Measuring 9.9 inches in length with a 1.825-inch diameter, the Barron weighs 21 ounces in stainless steel and 16 ounces in titanium. When paired with a 16-inch BHA Model 89 chambered in .500 S&W Magnum firing 500 S&W subsonic ammunition, the Barron has metered at 112.29 dB at the shooter’s ear. The suppressor is finished in V-Series Cerakote for durability in demanding field conditions.

Henry Donates 50 Custom Rifles for Wildland Firefighter’s Leukemia Battle
RICE LAKE, Wis., March 17, 2026 —
Henry Repeating Arms, one of the country’s leading firearms manufacturers, is donating a limited-edition series “Joel’s Wildfire” Golden Boy Silver rifles as part of its Guns For Great Causes program to help wildland firefighter Joel Eisiminger cover the mounting medical expenses associated with his fight against acute myeloid leukemia (AML), a diagnosis he received one day before his 25th birthday.
Eisiminger, originally from Southern Oregon, spent six seasons battling wildfires across the American West. In July 2024, while deployed on a wildfire in Northern California, Joel suddenly became seriously ill and was soon diagnosed with the aggressive form of blood cancer that requires extensive treatment.
His story, published in The New York Times, also helped shine a light on the lack of protection available to wildland firefighters. In response, lawmakers introduced the Healthy Lungs for Heroes Act (S.3183) in November 2025 to reverse a decades-long rule banning the use of respirators.
Henry Repeating Arms expects the sale of the 50-rifle series to generate more than $40,000 to support Joel’s treatment and ongoing care.
Each rifle in the series features a custom-engraved and painted American walnut buttstock depicting a group of wildfire firefighters, Joel’s brothers on the fireline, walking together toward the flames above a banner reading “Joel’s Wildfire.” Other features include a polished blued steel octagon barrel, nickel-plated receiver cover, barrel band, and buttplate, adjustable sights, and a custom range of serial numbers from WILDFIRE01 through WILDFIRE50. NSSF and partners to distribute nearly 1,000 free gun locks to Tuscaloosa residents to encourage secure firearm storage and help prevent accidents
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, and its Project ChildSafe® program today announced the launch of “Project ChildSafe Tuscaloosa” in collaboration with Tuscaloosa Police Department, the Tuscaloosa Sheriff’s Office and local organizations. The comprehensive countywide initiative aims to promote responsible firearm ownership and secure firearm storage practices across the community to prevent accidents, thefts and misuse, including suicide.
“We’re grateful to work with Tuscaloosa law enforcement to provide hundreds of gun locks and educational resources to residents and remind the community about the importance of firearm safety and to securely store firearms when not in use,” said Joe Bartozzi, NSSF President and CEO. “Secure storage helps prevent unwanted access to guns and makes our families and communities safer. It’s the best way to help prevent firearm-related misuse, accidents and suicides.”
“Our department’s priority is ensuring safety and building community trust,” said Tuscaloosa Police Department Acting Chief Severn “Sebo” Sanders. “The Tuscaloosa Police Department’s partnership with Project ChildSafe is part of this important effort to make Tuscaloosa safer for our families, neighbors and visitors and reduce gun accidents, misuse and fatalities.”
During a press conference at the Tuscaloosa Police Department Headquarters, officials and community members from across Tuscaloosa gathered to emphasize the importance of simple, everyday actions gun owners can take to help prevent firearm-related accidents, thefts and suicides. In addition to the press conference, Tuscaloosa Police Department and the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office are hosting two gun lock distribution events, allowing Tuscaloosa residents to pick up free Project ChildSafe cable gun locks, no questions asked, and safety literature.
“Our office is honored to join Project ChildSafe and the Tuscaloosa Police Department in promoting gun safety and secure storage in our communities,” said Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy GW Keller. “Storing firearms properly — with a gun lock, gun safe or secure storage devices for vehicles — is one simple step to keep our communities safe.”
Project ChildSafe Focus Communities is a nationwide program of the NSSF focused on promoting responsible firearm ownership and storage. Small drones are rapidly becoming a dominant feature of modern battlefields. They are inexpensive, adaptable, and increasingly used for reconnaissance, strike, and interception roles. Yet turning a basic UAV into a truly autonomous system capable of real-time tracking and precision maneuvering typically requires significant onboard computing power and specialized hardware. Size, weight, and power constraints often limit what smaller platforms can achieve.
A newly introduced autopilot module aims to address that limitation by compressing advanced processing and flight control into a compact unit. Weighing just 100 grams, the Raptor Pilot AI Pro combines a quad-core 2.4 GHz processor with real-time vision-based tracking and full flight-control integration. The system is described as a unified autopilot architecture designed to transform a wide range of unmanned aerial vehicles into autonomous platforms.
At the core of the module is onboard artificial intelligence capable of processing high-definition video streams at 30 frames per second. According to Interesting Engineering, this enables the system to detect and track targets dynamically during flight. Visual data is fused with inertial measurements, allowing the drone to maintain stability and orientation even if satellite navigation signals are degraded or unavailable. Flight control is handled through an integrated controller that provides precise altitude and attitude estimation, supporting high-speed autonomous maneuvers.
The autopilot is platform-agnostic, operating across an input voltage range of 6 to 28 volts. It can integrate with various payloads, sensors, and communication networks through multiple wired and wireless interfaces. This flexibility allows it to be installed on fixed-wing drones, hybrid UAVs, and loitering munitions without significant redesign.
The technology is already being used to power interceptor drones designed for rapid aerial response. As unmanned threats evolve, the ability to detect, pursue, and engage targets autonomously is increasingly seen as essential. High-speed UAV interceptors equipped with onboard AI reduce reliance on continuous human control and shorten engagement timelines.
Compact autonomy modules such as this one reflect a broader shift toward distributed, intelligent air systems. In conflicts where drones are deployed in large numbers, scalable autonomy becomes critical. By enabling smaller platforms to operate with greater independence and precision, lightweight autopilot architectures can expand the capabilities of existing fleets without adding substantial weight or complexity.
As drone warfare continues to mature, integrating advanced processing into minimal form factors is likely to play a central role in shaping next-generation unmanned operations.

NSSF Opens 2026 Hunting Heritage Trust Grant Applications
NGOs can apply for $100,000 in support of R3 efforts
WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, has opened the application period for the 2026 Hunting Heritage Trust Grants that offer a total of $100,000 in support for programs that work to expand participation in hunting and the shooting sports.
Qualified non-governmental organizations (NGOs) may apply for a portion of this year’s $100,000 Hunting Heritage Trust Grant total, to be used to support recruitment, retention and reactivation programs, known collectively as R3 efforts. NSSF will place emphasis on programs that focus on increasing participation by attracting new participants and reactivating past participants.
Only project proposals submitted by and in the name of NGOs are eligible for funding. NSSF advises potential applicants to read the application guidelines carefully to fully understand which projects are, and are not, eligible for Hunting Heritage Trust Grant funding.

Grant applications must be submitted through the application link provided on the NSSF Hunting Heritage Trust Grants webpage no later than 5 p.m. (Eastern time) April 17, 2026. All projects awarded grant funding in 2026 must be completed by February 8, 2027.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The NSSF’s Protect Liberty Political Action Committee (Protect Liberty PAC) announced a major financial boost after Benelli USA pledged a $30,000 contribution that will be used to help elect candidates who are dedicated to preserving and protecting liberty, freedom and the Constitutional rights of all Americans, especially our Second Amendment. The $30,000 contribution from Benelli USA eclipses its total contribution during the 2024 election cycle and will buoy Protect Liberty PAC’s efforts ahead of the November 2026 election. This is to ensure voters in key battleground states and congressional districts across the country are informed about candidates who will fight for their Constitutional rights and not carry out a political agenda that threatens the American way of life.
“We can’t take anything for granted in this year’s election. The balance of power in Washington, D.C. hangs in the balance. Control of the House of Representatives could hinge on a single race as could control of the U.S. Senate. This generous contribution from Benelli USA so early in the election cycle demonstrates a strong belief in Protect Liberty PAC’s mission to elect candidates who will fight for our liberties and freedoms, including the Second Amendment,” said Lawrence G. Keane, Protect Liberty PAC’s Treasurer. “Every day, freedom loving law-abiding American gun owners must make it known to politicians that their Second Amendment rights are to be fought for and protected. The midterm election campaign has already begun. We hope more gun owners and businesses in the firearm, ammunition, hunting, recreational and shooting sports industry will consider matching Benelli’s strong example and support Protect Liberty.”

Protect Liberty PAC is a federally registered “super PAC” founded in 2023 by NSSF. Protect Liberty PAC is an independent-expenditure only political committee and can accept unlimited personal and corporate contributions from companies in or outside of the industry, so long as they do not have federal contracts. Protect Liberty PAC will expressly advocate for the election or defeat of specific candidates and that advocacy will be completely independent of any candidate or political party.
Contributions to Protect Liberty PAC are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes. Federal law requires Protect Liberty PAC to use its best efforts to collect and report the name, mailing address, occupation and the name of employer of individuals whose contributions exceed $200 in a calendar year. Protect Liberty PAC can accept unlimited personal and corporate contributions. However, contributions from foreign nationals, federal contractors, national banks, and federally chartered corporations are prohibited.

$200 Federal Tax Stamp Fee Eliminated: What This Means for You
As of January 1, 2026, the federal tax stamp fee for suppressors and short-barreled rifles (SBRs) has been reduced from $200 to $0. While the financial barrier ($200) has been removed, the legal process (NFA registration) remains in effect.
What Changed: You no longer pay the ATF $200 to register an NFA item.
What Stayed the Same: You must still file an ATF Form 1 (to make/configure an SBR) or Form 4 (to buy a suppressor/factory SBR), submit fingerprints/photos, undergo the background check, and wait for approval.
