Built Up and Built Out: The Big Badger from Chiappa Firearms
Dayton, OH (July 21, 2025) – Following the wild success of the Little Badger, Chiappa Firearms releases the Big Badger for the U.S. market in 2025. The Big Badger is an oversized variation of the famous single-shot 22LR Little Badger. Coming in 3 caliber options, .410, 30/30, and 350 Legend, the Big Badger fills the role of popular single-shot break actions that have become harder to find.
While similar to their predecessor, the Big Badger holds some unique and distinguishing characteristics that set it far above and apart, while retaining the single-shot capability. A break-action folds the Big Badger into a convenient and compact rifle for easy carrying and storage. At the front of the receiver and the top of the chamber sits a rail with integrated rails on the top and bottom, while the sides are MLOK cut for accessory use. Any optic can easily be affixed to the rail with room for foregrips and lights on the bottom.
All steel rod stocks mimic an extruded wire construction with a fixed recoil-absorbing buttpad. The stock is curved, mimicking a rifle grip for exceptional balance and control. At the top of the stock is the welcome addition of a cheek rest, which can be adjusted depending on the shooter’s needs. All three caliber options feature a 20-inch barrel. The action opens via a trigger-shaped release, and an extractor actuates to quickly remove the cartridge without needing additional tools.
Big Badger’s 410 variation has a smooth bore and integrated front sight post and Beretta/Benelli Mobile Choke threads, including an MC-1 modified choke. The 30/30 contains a 1:12 rifled bore without a sight post but does include a threaded muzzle with a thread protector. The 350 Legend variation copies the 30/30 with a threaded muzzle and protector but has a 1:16 twist rate. Each caliber option has a total length of 35 inches and weighs 5.5 pounds.

A new drone interceptor has been unveiled that aims to counter hostile UAVs quickly and efficiently—without relying on explosive warheads. Developed by French startup Harmattan AI, the system, named Gobi, is designed to reach airborne threats in under 60 seconds and disable them through direct collision.
Weighing under two kilograms, Gobi is significantly lighter than traditional interceptors, thanks to its warhead-free design. Instead of detonation, it neutralizes threats by physically crashing into them, targeting weak points like propellers or exposed hardware. This method reduces both cost and potential collateral damage, making it suitable for use in urban or sensitive environments.
According to the company, the drone can reach speeds of up to 250 km/h and has an operational range of about five kilometers. it is capable of engaging drones weighing up to 600 kg—far above its own weight class.
According to NextGenDefense, Gobi’s engagement process follows a three-phase system. First, it detects UAVs using electromagnetic and radio frequency scanning. Once a target is located, the drone is launched automatically and guided by radio signals. As it approaches the target, it switches to infrared-based tracking to home in with greater precision. Onboard computer vision algorithms assist in identifying the best impact point, allowing for real-time mid-flight course corrections.
Initial flight tests for the drone are reportedly underway. The drone can be integrated into existing command-and-control (C2) platforms, enabling real-time data sharing, target identification, and coordination with other defense systems.
While its performance in rough or cluttered terrain remains to be fully assessed, Gobi’s low weight, rapid response time, and non-explosive interception method may offer a practical solution to the growing threat of small- and medium-sized UAVs. As drone-based attacks become more common, especially in conflict zones and around critical infrastructure, systems like Gobi highlight a shift toward faster, software-driven counter-UAV tactics.

Miami Campaign Targets Illegal Gun Purchases
NSSF, ATF, DOJ Emphasize ‘Don’t Lie for the Other Guy™’
MIAMI — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, together with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Department of Justice (DOJ), announced a month-long public education campaign reminding the Miami, Florida area public about stiff penalties facing individuals convicted of unlawful firearm purchases. The “Don’t Lie for the Other Guy” campaign is in its 25th year and drives home the message that anyone making an illegal firearm purchase faces a federal felony penalty of up to 15 years in prison and up to $250,000 in fines. The program is primarily funded by the firearm industry and is now also complemented by federal funding allocated to ATF by Congress. Miami was chosen for this specific campaign by ATF.
“The firearm industry has always been fully committed to keeping firearms out of the hands of those who should not possess them. In its twenty-fifth year, we are especially proud to launch this Don’t Lie for the Other Guy public awareness campaign in Miami as part of our cooperative relationship with the ATF, the DOJ and the entire law enforcement community to assist them in their efforts to reduce criminal acquisition of firearms and to keep communities safe,” said NSSF President and CEO Joe Bartozzi.
The Miami-area “Don’t Lie” campaign will total more than 26.1 million gross media impressions. This includes an outdoor campaign running on 20 high-impact billboards along all major roadways, as well as 40 roadside displays on Miami Metro bus transit shelters throughout the region with the message: “Buy a gun for someone who can’t and buy yourself 15 years in jail. Don’t Lie for the Other Guy.” In addition, the campaign will include more than 530 radio spots on three of the top FM stations in the market, as well as 4.375 million targeted impressions across Facebook, Instagram and mobile display.
To legally purchase a firearm, a person must pass an FBI National Instant Criminal Background Check System verification, or NICS background check, and fully comply with all state and local laws. When a criminal is illegally trafficking in firearms or knows they cannot pass this check, they may try to induce a friend or acquaintance to make the purchase for them. This is a straw purchase and is a felony.
The “Don’t Lie for the Other Guy” program also involves educating firearm retailers to be better able to detect and prevent straw purchases by providing “Don’t Lie for the Other Guy” retailer kits containing a training video and information for storeowners and staff, as well as point-of-purchase displays aimed to deter illegal straw purchasers.
