MURFREESBORO, TN – The U.S. Army has announced that the MARS Inc, Barrett team has been selected as the winner of the xTech Soldier Lethality competition. In six months, this team of agile businesses were able to design, build, test, and demonstrate the effectiveness of a new 30mm grenade rifle system in support of the Army’s Precision Grenadier System (PGS) requirement. PGS is a soldier portable, shoulder fired, semi-automatic, magazine fed, integrated armament system (weapon, ammunition, fire control) that enables rapid, precision engagements to destroy personnel targets in defilade and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) targets at close range. Both companies are proud to have the opportunity to provide this unique capability to the U.S. and allied war fighters.

Houston Campaign Targets Illegal Gun Purchases

NSSF, ATF, DOJ Emphasize ‘Don’t Lie for the Other Guy’
HOUSTON — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, together with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Department of Justice (DOJ), announced a month-long public education campaign reminding the Houston, Texas, area public about stiff penalties facing individuals convicted of unlawful firearm purchases. The “Don’t Lie for the Other Guy”TM campaign is in its 25th year and drives home the message that anyone making an illegal firearm purchase is committing a federal felony and faces a penalty of up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. The program is funded in full by members of the firearm industry and is now also complemented by federal funding allocated to ATF by Congress. Houston was chosen for this specific campaign by ATF.
“The firearm industry has always been fully committed to keeping firearms out of the hands of those who should not possess them. In its twenty-fifth year, we are especially proud to launch this ‘Don’t Lie for the Other Guy public’ awareness campaign in Houston as part of our cooperative relationship with ATF, DOJ and the entire law enforcement community to assist them in their efforts to reduce criminal acquisition of firearms and to keep communities safe,” said NSSF President and CEO Joe Bartozzi.
The Houston-area “Don’t Lie” campaign will total more than 45.8 million media impressions. This includes an outdoor campaign running on 45 high impact billboards and posters throughout the Houston region with the message: “Buy a gun for someone who can’t and buy yourself 15 years in jail. Don’t Lie for the Other Guy.” The campaign will also include more than 400 radio spots on two of the top FM stations in the market, as well as 3.75 million targeted impressions across Facebook, Instagram and mobile display.
To legally purchase a firearm from a licensed retailer, a person must pass an FBI National Instant Criminal Background Check System verification, or NICS background check, and fully comply with all state and local laws. When a criminal is illegally trafficking in firearms or knows they cannot pass this check, they may try to induce a friend or acquaintance to make the purchase for them. This is a straw purchase and is a felony.
The “Don’t Lie for the Other Guy” program also involves educating firearm retailers to better detect and prevent straw purchases by providing free “Don’t Lie for the Other Guy” retailer kits containing a training video and information for storeowners and staff, as well as point-of-purchase displays aimed to deter illegal straw purchasers.

BAE Systems and Iveco Defense Vehicles form strategic collaboration on BvS10 for Italy
Rome, Italy – May 22, 2025 – BAE Systems Hägglunds and Iveco Defence Vehicles (IDV) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to pursue a strategic collaboration for the BvS10 all-terrain vehicle for the Italian market. The collaboration focuses on localization of design of Italian variants and manufacturing of the BvS10 – leveraging the strengths of both companies and Italian manpower.

As part of NASCAR’s Honor and Remember program, Dillon’s name on the windshield header of the No. 3 Chevrolet will be replaced by the name of fallen Army Staff Sargent Sean Gregory Landrus, a native of Thompson, Ohio. Landrus died Jan 29, 2004 from injuries he suffered when a roadside bomb exploded and hit the convoy he was in near Khalidiyah, Iraq, during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Team Blaser Dominates the TSCA Texas State Sporting Clays Championships
San Antonio, Texas (May 20, 2025) – Team Blaser dominated the 2025 Texas State Sporting Clays Championships taking home four state titles and many podium finishes. Cory Kruse was the Main Event and the 5-Stand State Champion, Austin Kiemsteadt was the FITASC State Champion, & Justin Napier was the Adios Cup State Champion.
The event was held May 13 – 18, 2025, at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio, Texas. With hot & humid temperatures pushing a heat index of 110 degrees, Team Blaser proved their talent & discipline.
Cory shot an impressive 194/200 in the Main Event, putting him four targets above 2nd place, while Team members Austin & Justin tied with 189/200. Austin ultimately took the 3rd place position after a shoot-off. Cory was on fire this week, which led him to also win Runner-Up in Super Sporting & 3rd in the Prelim event on top of his two state titles. The 2025 Main Event Championship made this Cory’s 9th TSCA Texas State HOA Championship title of his career. Justin Napier also won 3rd Place podium finishes in both Super Sporting and American Field Sporting Events last week.
