BELGIAN AIRCREW COMPLETES MQ-9B TRAINING

GA-ASI’s MQ-9B SkyGuardian® Training Was Conducted at Multiple Sites,

SAN DIEGO – 17 July 2025 – The first Belgian aircrew has completed training to operate the world’s leading remotely piloted aircraft (RPA): the MQ-9B SkyGuardian®. General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), designer and developer of the MQ-9B, provided the extensive aircrew training that culminated at GA-ASI’s Desert Horizon test facility in El Mirage, California, following stops in Belgium and GA-ASI’s Flight Test & Training Center in North Dakota.

“Providing all-encompassing training for the aircrews of our customers goes hand-in-hand with delivering the world’s most capable RPA,” said GA-ASI President David R. Alexander. “Completing this training ensures that Belgium is ready and able to operate their MQ-9Bs and maximize the benefits that come from long-range, high-endurance RPA.”

The scope of the training is focused on the foundational skills required to operate the MQ-9B SkyGuardian air vehicle and its equipment, including the Multi-Spectral Targeting System (MTS), Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), Mission Intelligence Station (MIS), and System for Tasking and Real-Time Exploitation (STARE). Training involves building solid foundations for both normal and emergency operations in Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems, instrument flying, and Automatic Takeoff and Landing Capability (ATLC) and more.

The first flight of Belgium’s initial MQ-9B aircraft took place in February. That aircraft will soon complete Acceptance Test Procedures and is expected to be in Belgium before the end of September. It’s the first of a four-aircraft purchase by the Belgian Ministry of Defence. The Foreign Military Sale to Belgium also includes two Certified Ground Control Stations.

MQ-9B is the world’s most advanced RPA system, delivering exceptionally long endurance and range — with ATLC under pole-to-pole SATCOM-only control — and will be able to operate in unsegregated airspace using the GA-ASI-developed Detect and Avoid system. MQ-9B includes the SkyGuardian and SeaGuardian® models, with multiple deliveries made to the U.K.’s Royal Air Force (Protector), as well as orders from Canada, Poland, Japan, Taiwan, India, and the U.S. Air Force in support of the Special Operations Command. MQ-9B has also supported various U.S. Navy exercises, including Northern Edge, Integrated Battle Problem, and Group Sail.

General Atomics announces plans for rapid international uncrewed fighter development

RAF FAIRFORD, UK – 17 July 2025 – General Atomics is taking a bold step toward rapidly delivering a European Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) — based on a mature U.S. platform, assembled in Europe, with European mission systems — by aligning its independent U.S. and German aerospace affiliates under a teamed operation.

The new aircraft is derived from the U.S. Air Force’s YFQ-42A prototype, currently in ground testing and scheduled for first flight later this summer, designed and built by General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) in San Diego, Calif. European mission system customization and manufacturing in Europe will be supported by General Atomics’ German aerospace affiliate, General Atomics Aerotec Systems GmbH (GA-ATS), headquartered in Oberpfaffenhofen, near Munich.

Leveraging the prior investments of these established aerospace companies on both sides of the Atlantic provides a jump start for European uncrewed fighter development and a pathway to meet the speedy acquisition timelines set by European nations. It also provides an established path for further international collaboration efforts and indigenous defense partnerships, based on both companies’ previous successes in global aircraft delivery.

“We’re eager to combine our uncrewed aircraft system expertise with the airborne sensor and weapons system expertise of the European defense industry, starting with our own affiliate GA Aerotec Systems GmbH in Germany,” said GA-ASI CEO Linden Blue. “With a proven CCA design already in production today, these systems will be delivered in significant quantity with high-technology European inputs to build and sustain affordable mass for NATO’s fighter forces.”

GA-ASI is the world’s foremost builder of unmanned aerial systems, delivering more than 1,200 aircraft over three decades and supporting a net fleet operation approaching 9 million flight hours. The company has pioneered three types of unmanned combat jets, including the groundbreaking MQ-20 Avenger® (2009) and the U.S. Air Force’s XQ-67A Off-Board Sensing Station (2024). Its YFQ-42A fighter was rapidly developed from the XQ-67A baseline and is expected to fly only 18 months after its predecessor.

International collaboration is a significant focus for General Atomics. GA-ASI aircraft are flown by the US, the U.K., Spain, France, Italy, Netherlands, Japan, India and many other customers around the world. GA-ASI’s high-value supply chain for UAS extends deeply into these partner nations, where major airframe components, subsystems, and complete sensor payloads are manufactured.

GA-ATS is a German aircraft manufacturing and Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul company. Aircraft have been manufactured and serviced on the company site for more than 40 years. The company conducts MRO on NH-90 helicopters for the German military; builds, sustains, and modifies the Do-228 multi-role aircraft; and performs engine overhaul on the TPE-331-10 turboprop engine, common to both Do-228 and MQ-9A/B unmanned aircraft.

A new Collaborative Combat Aircraft for Europe, leveraging the YFQ-42A baseline, will benefit from these previous successes, Blue explained.

Autonomous Tasking With TacACE and Optix.C2 Showcase Maturity and Operational Readiness

SAN DIEGO – 17 July 2025 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) and General Atomics Integrated Intelligence, Inc. (GA-Intelligence) successfully completed a groundbreaking demonstration on July 8, integrating technologies across multiple affiliates to showcase long-range kill chain effects, including an autonomous air-to-air engagement. The flight integrated local and global sensor fusion to deliver real-time situational awareness and autonomous tasking to an airborne MQ-20 Avenger® through the Tactical Autonomy Core Ecosystem (TacACE) to close the kill chain and showcase the system’s maturity and operational readiness for the warfighter.

The event featured the integration of a Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA), a fully compliant government owned autonomy implementation, and beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) Command and Control (C2). The MQ-20 unmanned jet, furnished by GA-ASI, acted as a CCA surrogate in a sensor Emission Control (EMCON) environment. It was operated autonomously and controlled using distributed-edge C2 nodes powered by Optix.C2 and Omniview software. Optix.C2, a product from General Atomics-Intelligence, provided low-latency, localized C2 functionality while remaining networked to the broader operational picture, enabling real-time coordination across multiple domains.

Dr. Brian Ralston, President of GA-Intelligence, applauded the joint effort. “This demonstration illustrates the value of integrating cutting-edge and proven technologies across the GA enterprise. The Optix data platform and C2 capability enable rapid integration and experimentation to address critical DoD and IC needs.”

General Atomics successfully fused space-based sensing and tactical sensing with the C2 node during the flight, giving the aircraft access to a complete real-time threat picture for enhanced onboard autonomous decision-making. The demonstration also included live coordination of Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) and kinetic tasking through a unified operator interface capable of deployment in virtually any cloud environment.

During the exercise, the live MQ-20 aircraft autonomously patrolled a designated Combat Air Patrol (CAP) zone, leveraging off-board sensors to demonstrate how passive collection techniques can inform autonomous platforms in real time. Four CCA surrogates — one live and three virtual — were directed by an operator to investigate multiple targets of interest. Upon identifying them as threats, the operator issued a command to initiate the BLOS engagement. The autonomous systems maneuvered into position, simulated missile launches, assessed battle damage, and returned to CAP without additional operator input.

“This demonstration represents a substantial leap in autonomy and human-machine interfaces that are critical to the warfighter in the near-peer fight,” said Michael Atwood, Vice President of Advanced Programs at GA-ASI. “By integrating Optix.C2 with TacACE, we’re delivering a system that not only operates at the tactical edge but also enables rapid decision-making and execution across the battlespace. This is the future of warfare — scalable, autonomous systems that empower the warfighter to dominate at range.”

GA-Intelligence provided muti-sensor global fusion and engagement orchestration algorithms and interfaces. D&M Holding Company and Ukrainian Defense Industry Announce Joint Venture to Produce Ammunition Propellant in the US

TAMPA, FL (July 16, 2025) – D&M Holding Company, Inc. (D&M), the global leader in delivering complete solutions for ammunition, primer, and propellant manufacturing facilities, and the Ukrainian Defense Industry Joint Stock Company (JSC) are partnering to produce specialty chemicals in the United States to address the critical shortage of propellant used in the production of ammunition for the Ukrainian defense forces.

The agreement was signed at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome on July 11 by Ukrainian Defense Industry Director General Oleh Huliak and D&M Holding Company CEO Daniel Powers in the presence of Lt. General (Ret.) Keith Kellog – US Special Envoy to Ukraine, Ambassador Julie S. Davis – US Chargé d’Affaires to Ukraine, Lynndy Smith – Member of Ukrainian Defense Industry JSC Supervisory Board, Oleksandr Kamyshin – Advisor to Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and James Jones – Executive Vice President, D&M Holding Company, Inc. Powers also spoke on a panel for defense manufacturing during the conference.

The single base propellant made in this new US-based facility will be used for artillery ammunition, including 155mm shells which are greatly needed by Ukraine in their ongoing defense against Russia.

“We have to gradually move from large-scale procurement to our own production to meet our immediate needs. It is equally important that the company will operate in a safe area. Our cooperation with American arms companies will continue in other areas,” emphasized Director General Huliak.

“This joint venture continues to build upon and further strengthen the relationship between D&M and Ukrainian state-owned enterprises with projects now in both Ukraine and the US,” said Powers.

HIGH DESERT TEST RANGE, Calif. – 16 July 2025 – AFRL’s XQ-67A, a second-generation Autonomous Collaborative Platform (ACP), successfully demonstrated integration of government reference autonomy during a recent flight test in the California High Desert.

The flight showcased the integration of government-owned autonomy on the XQ-67A, paired with active tactical datalink communications, to enable dynamic mission execution and real-time coordination with both crewed and uncrewed systems. The event marked a major milestone in advancing scalable, modular autonomy and seamless interoperable crewed-uncrewed teaming (C/U-T).

“This successful test underscores the Department’s commitment to fielding autonomous systems that can integrate into joint operations using existing tactical networks,” said Mike Atwood, Vice President of Advanced Programs for General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI). “Government owned autonomy on the XQ-67A is a concrete step toward deployable, combat-relevant autonomy that works with and alongside crewed platforms.”

During the flight, the XQ-67A executed test points to validate the integration of mission systems on the aircraft, including autonomy, mission computing, networking, power and thermal management, and datalinks. Through a tactical datalink, the aircraft received real-time updates and situational data, giving it the ability to coordinate seamlessly with crewed aircraft and other autonomous systems in the future.

The XQ-67A platform, built by GA-ASI under contract with AFRL, plays a critical role in exploring the platform sharing approach to achieving scalable affordable mass. Its performance in this flight test advances the Air Force’s vision for an integrated autonomous force that can support and augment current and future crewed platforms.

The successful demonstration in the high desert highlights the promise of combining government-owned autonomy with proven tactical communications infrastructure. This approach accelerates technology transition and supports AFRL learning objectives regarding the integration of mission systems within the context of the highly relevant XQ-67A testbed.

While limiting the carrier to a relatively small handgun, pocket carry offers some unique advantages. Not only is the handgun completely covered and concealed, but the gun carrier can casually place a hand on the holstered/pocketed pistol if a nonspecific threat materializes – and the fastest draw is to have the gun already in hand.

Galco’s pocket holsters greatly minimize shifting of the handgun in the pocket, allowing for a fast and sure grip acquisition when drawing. They conceal the shape of the handgun so its outline doesn’t print through the pocket and allow one-handed release of the handgun from both pocket and holster.

Pocket holsters cover the trigger to prevent entanglement with foreign objects and add a safety barrier between fingers and trigger when acquiring a firing grip. Many have also found pocket holsters to be ideal for purse and backpack carry, as well as short-term storage in a glove box, center console, or nightstand.

Reinforcements at the holster mouth and beneath the trigger guard keep the holster stiff enough to allow a smooth draw and easy return to the holster, while also maintaining enough rigidity to prevent “printing” and shifting of the handgun. The holster’s hooked shape – at the base of the handgun’s trigger guard – is designed to catch on the pocket so that, with practice (using an unloaded firearm) and while using the proper pants, you can draw the firearm while the holster remains in your pocket or falls away.

A widespread browser hijacking campaign has quietly infected millions of users by exploiting trusted Chrome and Edge extensions. Security researchers from Koi Security have uncovered a coordinated operation — named RedDirection — in which 18 browser extensions, previously considered safe and even verified, were silently updated to include harmful code.

According to the report, the affected extensions, which include tools for color picking, video control, emoji input, and VPN access, initially functioned as expected. For months — in some cases years — their code remained clean. But after a version update, they transformed into Trojan-like malware without any user interaction or visible prompts.

Some of the extensions named in the report had previously held a Google verification badge, hundreds of positive reviews, and even featured placement in the Chrome Web Store. Their transformation into a malicious tool was unnoticed by users and undetected by platform security mechanisms.

Once updated, the extensions began to monitor browser activity in real-time. Each time a user opened a website, the extension captured the original URL and sent it — along with a unique identifier — to a remote command-and-control server. If instructed, the extension would then redirect the user to a phishing or malicious site, potentially stealing credentials or installing additional malware.

Importantly, the extensions retained full functionality, continuing to provide their advertised features. This dual behavior made detection by users unlikely and enabled attackers to exploit a large install base undisturbed.

Researchers highlighted that the malicious updates were distributed through the standard extension update process, with no phishing or user manipulation involved. As a result, even cautious users who installed only highly-rated, well-reviewed tools were exposed.

All 18 extensions have now been removed from the Chrome and Edge web stores, but some associated domains remain active. Koi Security advises users to immediately uninstall any of the listed extensions, clear browser data, run system-wide malware scans, and review all installed browser add-ons for suspicious activity.
