Featuring an integrated array of 24 high-gain auto-selective antennas, the new 360 MSA analyzes downlink data quality and automatically switches between antenna patches with greater margin to deliver 360-degree continuous command and control coverage within a 20km nominal range. Commanding Officers (COs) can maintain complete control of the Puma AE aircraft and payload with the 360 MSA and access real time, decision critical ISR information. Additionally, it enables the bridge and combat team with mission planning, real time moving map, high resolution imagery, and contact status capability.

AeroVironment’s new 360 Multi-Sector Antenna (MSA) joins the company’s previously announced Long Range Tracking Antenna™ (LRTA) to provide operators with immediate tactical Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities anytime, anywhere. LRTA’s 360-degree auto-tracking function enables land-based operators to expand the command and control range of Puma AE to approximately 60km, providing critical ISR data while being positioned further away from dangerous areas of interest. The LRTA features an automated two-axis positioner tracking function that ensures a secure and reliable link with Puma while it operates at extended ranges. This antenna gives Puma 3 AE’s Mantis i45 EO/IR gimbal capabilities similar to larger and costlier Group 2 or higher UAS.

Boyadjian serves as Co-Chairman of the Board to Remington Outdoor Company and is recently retired as a Senior Vice President of Franklin Templeton Investments, where he headed up the Franklin Advisers’ Floating Rate Debt Group. During his time with Franklin Templeton Investments, which he joined in 1998, he held a variety of positions including Chief Administrative Officer for the Portfolio Management Group and Director of Global Portfolio Services. Prior to his retirement, he was responsible for the international Local Asset Management Groups in India and Korea, as well as the Global Investment Risk Management and the Global Investment Performance departments.

Boyadjian holds a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley, and he is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder.

Image of FYI - For your InformationEffective April 1, 2019, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has issued a final rule on the removal of expired regulations concerning commerce in firearms and ammunition and machine guns, destructive devices, and certain other firearms.

Summary: This final rule makes technical amendments to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) regulations in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). These technical changes are being made to remove expired, obsolete, or unnecessary regulations; correct specific headings; and to reflect changes to nomenclature resulting from the transfer of ATF to the Department of Justice from the Department of the Treasury pursuant to the Homeland Security Act of 2002. The changes are designed to update and provide clarity throughout these regulations.

Dry fire training is the best way to become familiar with a firearm and A-Zoom is the best choice.

For traditional snap cap dry fire practice in striker fire type pistols, the slide must be drawn back to cock the pistol, which then extracts and ejects the snap cap from the pistol. Lyman’s new A-Zoom StrikerCaps are made without a rim and are equipped with a centering O-ring which grips the chamber walls and keeps the snap cap in place in the chamber.

Barrett Supports Counter Narcotics Program

The American Knife & Tool Institute Announces that Experts in the Fields of Intellectual Property and Brand Protection Will Provide Valuable Information, Insights and Guidance on a Regular Basis on the Association’s Website

Cody, Wyoming (March 28, 2019) – The American Knife & Tool Institute (AKTI) is very pleased to announce that two experts in the fields of intellectual property and brand protection will be guest contributors on the nonprofit’s website. With the global cost of counterfeits projects to reach almost $2 trillion by 2022(1), AKTI and its members recognize that creating thriving businesses in today’s marketplace requires a toolkit to address this issue. Information, insights and helpful tips on these topics will be provided by Denise Mosteller and Jeremiah Pastrick in the new resource section titled “Brand Protection.”

Denise Mosteller holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Indiana University and has over 22 years of investigation, brand management and intellectual property experience. Ms. Mosteller has participated in countless criminal and civil investigations and enforcement actions involving everything from individual online sellers to global Chinese manufacturers. During her career Denise has worked with both federal and state law enforcement agencies to facilitate the arrest of numerous counterfeiters.

WALTHER PPQ SC w/ Streamlight TLR-7 and TLR-8

I’ve been seeing a number of reviews of the Walther PPQ SC accessorized with a Streamlight TLR-7 or TLR-8 that appear to be misrepresentations. I’ll explain, but let me first reinforce that both the PPQ SC and TLR light and laser light are excellent offerings from very reputable companies.

Both the TLR-7 and TLR-8 have the same accessory rail footprint. Both use rail keys as part of their mounting strategy; the rail key mounts into a machined slot in the light’s body that orients the key forward as shown below.

The Walther PPQ SC has an accessory rail consisting of only two slots as shown below.

What some reviewers are  suggesting to readers is that the TLR-7 or TLR-8 will fit on the PPQ SC’s very limited rail space. Doing that requires removal of the rail key on the light or light laser. Although it makes for interesting pictures, it’s not recommended . Under recoil your laser will loose its zero and your light or light laser could slide off your pistol from holstering and unholstering. These are not product deficiencies, it’s a simple matter of trying to fit a size 7 foot into a size 5 shoe. It’s doesn’t work very well.

The dimensional issue I referenced above can be clearly seen in the picture below.

Winchester, Ky. (March 2019) – DoubleStar Corp, manufacturers of high-quality, US-made AR components, rifles, pistols, and blades, recently sponsored the Rock Hard 3 Gun match, held at the Rockcastle Shooting Center in Park City, Kentucky, March 1 – 3, 2019. The competitive event benefitted Mission 22, a nonprofit aimed at combating the ever-rising veteran suicide rate. DoubleStar also sponsored a side match during the event. The three-day match raised over $16,000 for Mission 22 from its 175 competitors through match fees, auctions and charitable donations from side stages.

The Rock Hard 3 Gun match is designed to test not only shooting ability, but also some other skills not typically utilized in a 3 Gun match. For example, one of the stages featured eight clay pigeons launched from a safe distance aimed at the shooter. Not only did shots from the shotgun count, but if the shooter was able to safely break the incoming clays with any part of his or her body while remaining in the shooter’s box, they counted.

Shoot What You Want, Where You Want n – Gary Mol and American Range Systems bring the range to the shooter

MUSKEGON, MI (March 27, 2019) – Gun guy, Gary Mol, likes to dump a lot of lead. He always has. Sometimes, public shooting ranges merely cramp his style. Other times, they don’t meet his needs at all.

“I was tired of going to ranges and being told what I could shoot and when I could shoot it,” says Mol, founder of American Range Systems. “I wanted something I could put anywhere I wanted that would stop anything I fired into it.”

Mol went to work on his idea about eight years ago. Today, American Range Systems offers a truly impressive line of what Mol calls “the strongest and safest bullet traps ever made.”

“We started with a unit built to stop rifles, because I do a lot of that type of shooting,” recalls Mol, who built that first bullet trap in his garage. “From there, we eventually developed 22 different models—everything from units designed for .22s all the way up to move-and-shoot units that can stop a 30mm cannon round.”

Mol says the last eight years have been a period of continual growth, testing and refinement, honing the product line and establishing the American Range Systems brand. His wife, Beth, is the owner of A.R.S. and is his main business partner. “We have a beautiful product line that covers everything anyone could want,” she says. “These units are 200-percent stronger than the first designs. I sleep well at night. There’s nothing you can do to hurt these products, short of throwing them out of a plane.”

American Range Systems’ growing sales reflect a global market, with customers from nearly 20 countries, ranging from people shooting in their basements to companies that must proof-test rifles and ammunition, law enforcement and military organizations and more.

“These products let you transform any space into a range,” says Mol. “I’ve got a customer in Texas who has one (an American Range Systems bullet trap) on each side of his television screen in his living room. They are also going into a lot of basements, barns and backyards, but we’re also selling them to forensic labs, pawn shops, law-enforcement agencies and gunsmiths.”

Mol’s words have deep implications of freedom for the shooting enthusiast. Why? Because once one considers and complies with any relevant local ordinances or regulations, A.R.S. products make it possible to safely shoot—indoors or outdoors—on one’s own property. That’s a big deal.

For the private user, Mol points out a couple benefits of an A.R.S. bullet trap. “Aside from shooting anything you want wherever you want, you can shoot as close as you want, too, which is great for self-defense pistol drills,” says Mol. “And hunting enthusiasts who like to work up their own wildcat loads can set a unit in their basement or garage near their reloading bench and shoot through a chronograph and do all the range work you could never do at a public range. Public ranges won’t let you set up your Skyscreen and chronograph, and they for sure won’t let you reload cartridges and tweak those cartridges while you’re shooting.”

Some established indoor range target and trap systems can cost upwards of $150,000 per lane. Mol points out that people can own an A.R.S. unit for a fraction of that. “We’re bigger, stronger and cost less money,” he says. “We even have a unit you can place against a wall and shoot .50 BMG armor-piercing rounds into. I’ve been to thousands of indoor ranges and I’m not aware of any that let you bring a .50 inside to shoot.”

Besides the safety benefits of his bullet traps, Mol also sees them as solutions to the problems associated with lead contamination at both public and private outdoors ranges.

“With our bullet traps, we decided to change the way you catch a bullet,” says Mol. “Instead of hitting a deflection plate and having the bullet explode and be caught inside the trap, bullets are just slowed down in our traps. It’s called inelastic collision. Because we are just slowing it down, the bullets are whole; there’s no dust and there’s no fragmentation. So when you open the unit or shoot into it, you’re not looking at an environmental or pollution problem.”

Traps installed inside homes have driven about 60 percent of A.R.S.’s past sales with private customers. Mol says a good safe moving company can help ensure the unit gets properly transported and set up. One factor is the dimensions of the unit and the size of the windows and doors in a building. He said the units don’t weight much more per square foot of floor space than some big refrigerators, gun safes, hot tubs or other appliances.

ARS Warrior 858 Max

The most popular A.R.S. Model is the Warrior 858, then the Ranger 280 (for pistols). The numeric designation is simply a reflection of the number of the square inches on the face of the trap. Models that fit through a standard door are popular. In the popular Warrior line, the 858 is just a little bigger than the 540. “The Warrior 540 is the smallest model we make that’ll stop everything,” says Mol. “The crème de la crème would be the Warrior 858 Max model. It is fully armor plated and easily handle .50 cal. full auto. We’ve sold a lot of those to people who need it for shooting .50’s, but we’ve also sold a lot to people who simply want the biggest, baddest trap we make.”

EAST ALTON, Ill. (March 26, 2019)— After more than three years of planning, design and construction, the all-new McIvor Shooting Facility will open to the public on Saturday, April 6, 2019. Members of the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks (MDWFP) and the Foundation of the Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks (FMWFP) built the public shooting range facility in north Mississippi with support from Winchester Ammunition.
“For decades, Winchester has been a strong leader in supporting recreational shooting sports activities as well as working with others to help grow participation,” said Brett Flaugher, president of Winchester Ammunition. “With more than 50 million target shooters in the U.S., many of them here in the great state of Mississippi, we are very proud to be the major donor of this modern-day facility. The McIvor Shooting Facility could not have been built at a better time or, in a better location.”
The state-of-the-art shooting facility is owned and operated by MDWFP and includes shotgun, rifle, pistol and archery ranges.
“Now with the opening of McIvor we have three amazing shooting facilities located across the state, providing affordable opportunities for all to enjoy,” said John E. Taylor, Chairman of the Foundation for Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (FMWFP). 
The McIvor Shooting Facility features:

  • Two skeet ranges, with a trap range overlaid in each
