Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Selects SIG SAUER P226 as Standard Issue Pistol

(July 26, 2018) – SIG SAUER, Inc. is proud to announce the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department has selected the P226 Pistol as their official duty sidearm, and the department will additionally acquire the M400 rifle as the agency’s patrol rifle and the P239 pistol for the detective unit. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department is a full service law enforcement agency located in Columbus, Ohio.

“With this acquisition the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department will, for the first time, be issuing a standard duty pistol to every certified officer on our force. We chose SIG SAUER’s P226 as our standard issue pistol after an extensive testing and review process and feel this is the best choice for our force,” began Captain James Simmons of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. “The P239 pistol and the M400 rifle are also being placed into service in our department and we are looking forward to developing our relationship with SIG SAUER.”

The SIG SAUER P226R pistol has earned a reputation with law enforcement and elite military agencies for its reliability, performance, durability in various environments, and consistent accuracy. The P226R pistol features an integral accessory rail for tactical light systems. The new duty service pistol for the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department will feature a hard anodized aluminum black frame with a black Nitron finished stainless steel slide, and a 9mm 15-round magazine. The P239 9mm pistol is a compact classic line pistol with aluminum frame and black polymer grips.

The SIG SAUER M400 is an AR platform rifle with a free-float lightweight M-LOK handguard, enhanced Mil Spec trigger, microlight gas block, and a 30-round magazine capacity.

Apex Announces New Ruger Triggers Kits

Designed, tested and manufactured by Apex to provide an improved, more responsive trigger pull in the Ruger Mk IV pistols, the Action Enhancement Kit replaces the factory trigger and hammer with Apex components that lighten the trigger pull weight, deliver a crisp trigger break and reduce overall trigger travel.
Included in each kit is a safety plate that maintains factory safety values, even when put through Apex’s extensive drop-testing process which is conducted from six feet onto concrete. TGIF! We made it through another week, but the rain has been a real pain, I have a couple of reviews in progress that require some range time and getting outdoors has been a real challenge. I must tell you that between the rain and trying to figure out if Congressman Eric Swalwell has a chaw – I keep expecting to see some dribble from the side of his mouth – it’s stressing me out so I’m looking forward to a good shoot the shit.

Remember that a shoot the shit is a group interaction between people who may know, or not know, something about the subject being discussed. They are free to make unsupported statements, like Congress, use uncensored profanity, insult anyone they wish or change the subject altogether.

It has been proven that shoot the shits are, by far, more effective than paying  some jackass who studied psychology because they wanted to understand themselves $150+ per hour to tell you that you are denial, so they can sell you subsequent visits. So, without further commentary, let’s shoot the shit.

Some of you may think this video is an expression of how I feel when I see Lisa Marie Boothe, Fox News contributor and Senior Fellow, and you would be right; however, what I had in mind was more like the MSNBC, ABC and CNN newsrooms trying to cover POTUS.

  • It’s obvious they’re more interested in finding out if the President, prior to being elected, talked dirty about someone he had an affair with to Michael Cohen than covering policy.
  • Then you have the expectation that Paul Manafort, who’s been charged with tax fraud and other violations, resulting from dealings with the Ukrainians, may somehow lead to proving Russian collusion with the President.
  • And don’t forget all of the lying to the FBI charges. Somehow that might lead to Russian collusion charges against the President.

This is an obsession to malign and demean the sitting President of the United States. The MSNBC crew can be safely diagnosed with Catatonia. They literally exhibit retarded-stuporous or excited-delirious behaviors. It’s amazing!

We’ve reached the point in academia where an economics professor goes on national television to make the point that we have a trade deficit with China because we buy more things than they do – I kid you not. That was on OAN about a week ago. My advice to students, in undergraduate or postgraduate business programs , if you find yourself in an economics or econometrics class and your professor makes a statement like that get up and run to the Registrar’s Office to ask for your money back.

Readers, on the issue of hacking , keep in mind that IP addresses as well as MAC addresses can be spoofed, and unless you know the actual cable i.d. on a patch panel or punch-down block being used, you can make a server or user look like anything you want it to be. We have excellent intelligence services but knowledge is power and unfortunately some of our elected officials seem to be more interested in disinformation than enlightenment; it’s sad but true.

The customized pistol is a SIG SAUER 1911 TACOPS Full-Size inscribed with the eagle, globe, and anchor of the US Marine Corps to represent the prior service of Mantegna’s character, FBI Special Agent David Rossi, in the USMC.

HENSOLDT to deliver Electro-Optical System, ARGOS–II HD, to ESG Elektroniksystem- und Logistik-GmbH for the use in the German Federal Police helicopter fleet

HENSOLDT’s Optronics business line has been selected by ESG Elektroniksystem- und Logistik-GmbH for a three-year supply contract to deliver EO/IR systems to a central European NATO MoI end-user. The EO/IR system of choice, the ARGOS-II HD, will form part of a fleet-wide mission equipment replacement program in the German Federal Police helicopter fleet.

This central European Federal Police client is renowned in the market for their thorough technical evaluation as the most advanced and best-equipped police force within Europe.

HENSOLDT_ARGOS-II_HDThe ARGOS-II HD gimbal was specifically designed for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions. The gimbal consists of a mid-wave megapixel HD thermal imager (MWIR) and a multi-spectral HDTV camera, both featuring continuous optical and electronic zoom capability. An optional multi-spectral HDTV spotter camera enables longer range target identification. The ARGOS-II is centred on a fully integrated, Stabilized Turret Assembly, providing best-in-class stabilization.

An internal Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and GPS enable accurate GEO-location of ground targets and steering or tracking of the system’s line of sight to pre-defined GPS locations, providing commanders with real-time intelligence in areas of operational interest while the integral auto tracker function provides tracking of moving or static targets in the line of sight.

Advanced image processing functions, including picture-in-picture display, edge enhancement, haze penetration, pseudo colours and day/thermal image fusion provide optimized image performance for varying operational conditions.

The ARGOS-II Airborne Observation System is designed for installation on helicopters, fixed wing aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles to provide observation and targeting capabilities for military, border and maritime patrol and law enforcement missions.

Madrid, 24 July 2018.- Under a contract with the European Space Agency (ESA), Indra is developing an innovative terminal designed to enable governments, organizations and companies to directly and autonomously retrieve data from earth observation satellites and get extremely high-resolution images virtually in real time.

They will only need two main elements: an antenna to download the telemetry sent by satellites and this innovative Direct Access Terminal (DAT), which will process the data received to generate images with maximum celerity. After signing agreements with satellite operators, users will be allowed to independently connect to satellites, thus rendering the entire process of retrieving information of interest more agile and a matter of minutes from the data acquisition.

It was conceived so that any organization or company seeking to monitor a situation in any part of the world can do so whenever it wants. The enormously valuable images can have resolution sizes that are in many cases smaller than one meter per pixel: this is the case of ESA’s several radar satellites (SAR) that reach up to 0,25 meters per pixel. Radars allow to collect images at night and regardless of cloud cover or weather conditions that might otherwise reduce visibility.

The degree of detail of those images suffices to identify a vessel at sea or vehicle anyplace on the planet. They can help detect and monitor spreading wildfires. They can delimit zones affected by flooding or buildings that have been damaged following an earthquake. Among the seemingly endless possibilities, they are the most effective and quickest way to examine the conditions of crops across a country and estimate cereal harvest yields for the year, or containers stored in customs-free zones at ports.

Indra’s system reduces the elements necessary to access this powerful observation capability to the absolute minimum. This capability had thus far only been within the reach of satellite operators equipped with expensive and sophisticated infrastructures that include control stations deployed around the globe and huge data processing centers. Indra’s terminal nevertheless lets end users get access to only the functional features they really need.

Indra’s terminal has been initially conceived to receive data from Spain’s PAZ radar satellite and the twin systems, TerraSAR-X and TamDEM-X, which will soon begin operating jointly as a single constellation capable of observing any point on the Earth.

Indra has designed the system to be easily adaptable for receiving and processing data from other satellites. This renders Indra’s system as one of the most advanced and versatile solutions on the market. In less than 15 minutes from the data acquisition, users can get the image of the constellation that they need. The system’s daily surveillance capability will cover an area of approximately 300,000 km2, which is equivalent to 60% of the size of Spain.

Knowledge to innovate

This innovative solution was developed under ESA General Support Technology Programme (GSTP), within Element 2 “Make” dedicated to commercial technologies and products, from the accumulated fruits of Indra’s hard work and dedication in some of the world’s most ambitious space projects. The company has been working for over 30 years as a trailblazer in deploying Satellite Ground Segments and space data processing centers.

For example, the company has implemented the network of stations for managing the Galileo satellites, the European global positioning system that will become one of the largest satellite navigation constellations in orbit by 2020 with a total of 30 satellites operating in full coordination. It also implemented the stations that will send the satellites messages on which the precision of the entire system depends, essential data enabling them to compare onboard clock information and orbital positioning: an error of only one billionth of a second in the information would cause a position error of 30 cm in Earth-based user systems, which is too high for critical services such as air navigation.

More recently, the company led the complete Ground Segment deployment of the Paz satellite, Spain’s first radar satellite. A distributed Ground Segment at the facilities of the Spanish Institute for Aerospace Technology (INTA) and the Aerospace Observation Systems Centre (CESAEROB) in Torrejón de Ardoz, with a third backup component in Maspalomas (Canary Islands). Indra is now leading the land Ground Segment deployment for the Ingenio optical satellite, which Spain will soon launch into space.

Taufkirchen, Germany, 20th July 2018 – Since the beginning of the millennium, the Bundeswehr has used the Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS) for secure and protected mobile tactical communication via Link-16 in its own and in joint missions with user states inside and outside of NATO. In order to continue using the MIDS Low Volume Terminals (MIDS-LVT) in the coming decade and beyond, a so-called Block Upgrade 2 (BU2) is required. As part of this conversion, the terminals’ hardware and software will be comprehensively modernized, in particular to significantly increase data throughput and to adapt crypto components and frequency management to new requirements.

At the end of June 2018, the first converted terminals were ceremonially presented to representatives of the Bundeswehr. With these so-called risk reduction terminals, the WTD 81 and other Bundeswehr services can carry out technical investigations, integration and qualification on the working platforms (including Tornado, Eurofighter, A400M, frigates, corvettes, Joint Fire Support Team and Link-16 radio network).

HENSOLDT Customer Service has been commissioned to carry out the conversion of almost four hundred MIDS terminals of the German Armed Forces. The project includes the integration of modified or renewed assemblies and components under the responsibility of the EuroMIDS partner companies, as well as the subsequent re-qualification of the modified terminals. The project will be carried out in the coming years at the Taufkirchen site.

The companies HENSOLDT, Thales, Leonardo and Indra are equally involved in the EuroMIDS consortium. EuroMIDS supplies and supports the majority of MIDS terminals in use in Germany, France, Italy and Spain. HENSOLDT has developed the power amplifier for the terminals supplied by EuroMIDS and has produced more than 6,000 units and delivered them to EuroMIDS, but also to the American company ViaSat, which previously produced MIDS terminals as well. HENSOLDT Customer Services supports the terminals used by the Bundeswehr and the Austrian Armed Forces as well as all power amplifiers used inside and outside NATO.

THE NEW FN 509® TACTICAL

The FN 509® Tactical, an extension of the FN 509 family, is based on FN’s submission pistol that the U.S. Army tested for its Modular Handgun Trials, but includes the significant improvements to the design that were implemented in the FN 509.

The pistol features the company’s patent-pending Low-Profile Optics Mounting System™ that enables the platform to accept more than ten commercially-available miniature red dot (MRD) optics that co-witness with the suppressor-height night sights and remain adaptable to future optics releases with no requirement of direct milling of the slide.

 

The slide cap, for use when not shooting with an optic, has raised sight wings that protect iron sight alignment if the pistol is dropped or jostled, and provides a textured ramp for racking the slide against a belt loop, pant pocket or boot. An FN-signature 4.5-inch, cold hammer-forged, stainless-steel barrel with target crown, ½” x 28 threads that accept the bulk of 9mm suppressors available and thread cap with integrated O-ring to prevent loosening during use complete the top end.
​Lastly, the 24-round magazines, nearly identical in length to the pistol’s slide, maximize ammunition capacity without impacting carry convenience.

(July 19, 2018) – SIG SAUER, Inc. is pleased to announce the limited release of the M17-Commemorative Edition of the U.S. Army’s M17 official service pistol, a variant of the SIG SAUER P320. The M17-Commemorative pistol shares the same components, coatings, and markings as the firearm that was awarded the U.S. Army contract for the modular handgun system (MHS).

Only 5,000 M17-Commemorative Edition pistols have been produced for sale, and each SIG SAUER M17-Commemorative pistol is serialized M17-0001 through M17-5000 and includes the Army’s required unique identifier (UID). Background: The application of Doppler radar systems to collect precise external ballistic data was pioneered by Infinition Inc of Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada. The company developed a device marketed as LabRadar . The system has an operational range of 100 yards and accurately measures the velocity of the projectile along its path. By collecting velocity with a high degree of accuracy it is then possible to determine things like ballistic coefficients. Extremely useful tool to accurately asses new bullet geometry design.

UNDERSTANDING WHERE RUSSOPHOBIA COMES FROM

TGIF readers! We made it through another week and you are undoubtedly weary of the Russian hubbub as I am.

It’s amazing! Russians are still interfering, they are hacking us, cyber attacking BLAH, BLAH! So, for this week’s shoot the shit I thought it might make some sense to take a look at Russophobia, and yes it is an officially diagnosed phobia.

I believe that we have been psychologically condition by Hollywood to fear Russia. In all of my years going to the movies, I have yet to see a movie where Russians were portrayed as nice people; which, by the way, is inconsistent with a couple of Russians that I know. Hollywood has created this image of burly low toned tattooed guys running around saying “DAAAA” They’re either killing you or attaching 12 volt batteries to your testicles.

If you don’t believe that, watch the 2014 Danzel Washington film, “The Equalizer”, in which the Russian oligarch named “Vladimir Pushkin”, living in Moskva, is head of a Boston crime mob. Note that the oligarch doesn’t look like the clean cut guy on the left; instead he looks like the guy on the right.

I’m not here to support or condemn  Vladimir Putin, or Russia,  but Russophobia has worked its way into our diplomacy. Remember that Russians are deeply nationalist as the German Army found out during WWII. They’ve suffered for years and survived. Our approach to repairing Russo relations requires an understanding of their psyche as much as good diplomacy. Russophobia has no place in our interactions with Russia or Putin.

Readers have you been keeping up with the Trump bashing over the Helsinki Summit ? It’s like watching hookers going at it over who gets the trick. You’d think people with a fully loaded salary of over $270K a year could conduct themselves in a quasi professional manner. First some background.

  • First point – In 2014, the United States actively worked to depose Viktor Yanukovych, former President of Ukraine and pro Russian politician. You may recall Victoria Jane Nuland, the former Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs at the United States Department of State, and her infamous “F— the EU” comment. When you read the leaked conversation she had with the U.S. Ambassador to the Ukraine it becomes clear that the United States was interfering in the Ukraine to establish a more favorable government to NATO interests. This project began well before 2014 during the Clinton State Department. Russia responded to the interference by moving into Eastern Ukraine and annexing the Crimea via a referendum. Now, I may be terribly uninformed and / or naïve , but In this observer’s mind that event seems to be the reason for Russia’s 2016 interference in U.S. elections.
  • Second point – Edward Snowden, the pedantic little bastard, handed the Chinese and the Russians everything they wanted to know regarding NSA methods, practices and sources. For all of the Congressional chest thumpers blasting POTUS, keep in mind that the NSA was conducting intercepts against Angela Merkel and others. The last time I checked GmBH is an ally and a democracy.

So, here we are calling Vladimir Putin a liar and trashing our Commander In Chief when we too have dirty laundry that should be washed more discreetly. What we’ve done is provide the Russian propaganda machine the ammunition it needs to sell the idea that we are hypocrites.

So, Trump’s “we both have made mistakes” may not be that inappropriate and his attempt to lay the ground work to bridge U.S. – Russia relations.

The people calling for stronger sanctions against Russia may want to rethink that strategy. Here’s the reason why.

The EU is having its struggles and several of the Eastern European members are becoming weary of having a group of unelected bureaucrats dictate immigration policy. If those countries leave the EU and if Russia’s economy is subjected to more damage we may find a Russian/Eastern European coalition being formed.

The current Russian state armament program for the period (2011-2020) is a $250 billion project that’s been underway since 2010. This too is a response to Russian concerns about it’s sovereignty in light of being surrounded by NATO.

POTUS’ soft approach at Helsinki may be more enlightened than his critics make them out to be.

Gunwerks Monster Steel Challenge PRS Match Registration Open

This Precision Rifle Series (PRS) match will be held July 28 – 29, 2018 in Cody, Wyoming at the Cody Shooting Complex and at Monster Lake Ranch. Slots filling up quickly.

Cody, Wyoming (July 2018) – Gunwerks, designers and manufacturers of premium long-range hunting rifles, optics, shooting systems, components and training, is hosting its first Precision Rifle Series Match, the Monster Steel Challenge, in Cody, Wyoming, July 28 – 29, 2018.

The first match day, held at Cody Shooting Complex, will include 10 stages in a fast-paced, square, range-style set-up. Day two, at Monster Lake Ranch, will provide competitors with a 270-degree fire fan allowing for some incredible vistas and challenging shots. Competitors will require 200 rounds for both days not including sight-in or confirmation shots.

Equipment restrictions are based on caliber and velocity only. Speed limit is 3,200 fps for all calibers and calibers allowed for the Monster Steel Challenge are .224 to .308.
