Maj. Brent Taylor’s story has been told nationwide and we wish to honor his memory this weekend by helping his surviving family.  On November 3rd, 2018 Brent was allegedly killed by an insider attack while serving in Afghanistan.  It was his 4th deployment as a member of the Army National Guard.  He truly gave it all. Brent lived a life of service, serving our local community as a mayor and in the field as a soldier.  We sincerely thank your participation in helping the family through a range benefit in his name this weekend.  Tickets will be $12 and 100% of your contribution will be given to the family. Maj. Brent Taylor shared a picture from the mountains of Afghanistan on Facebook in April. He was on leave as mayor of North Ogden, Utah, during his deployment.  He was killed on Saturday in an insider attack, apparently by one of the people he was there to help.

Maj. Taylor is survived by his wife and seven children.  Ms. Taylor now faces the task of raising the couple’s children.  Please help us honor this family this Veteran’s Day Weekend.  Your support will go directly to helping our neighbors, the Taylor family.

Long Range Shooting Champion Jon Pynch Closes out 2018 with Multiple Wins

Lyons Falls, NY: Otis Technology is pleased to announce its support of Clear Path for Veterans, specifically its Dogs2Vets program. Dogs2Vets is a veteran program designed for those service members with service connected PTS/MST disability desiring a service or emotional support animal training.

Mil Sistemika is proud to announce new partnership with Hirtenberger Defence Technology Limited, producer of state-of-the-art Arc-Fire artillery fire control system. HDT Arc-FireTM Integrated Fire Control System is a state-of-the-art fully digital fire control system that links commanders, fire support coordination centers, forward observers, fire direction centers (command posts), and weapons.

Together with Hirtenberger DTL we will be soon releasing a fully integrated version of Mil Sistemika battlefield management system (IHTA, BES and PES) seamlessly transferring common operational picture and fire mission data between BMS and Arc-Fire systems.

Battle Eye System is a state-of-the-art GIS based battlefield management system. Positioned on a C2 (command and control) level, BES enhances the soldier’s understanding of the surroundings by providing a clear digital picture of the battlefield.

Common operational picture (COP) include correlated blue force tracked friendly situation, neighboring unknown, friendly and neutral situation, correlated and uncorrelated enemy picture, along with tactical graphics, statuses of units, and support for fire control. All this is presented on a digital map with NATO standardized 2525B symbology.

Personal Eye System (Pro) is a personal tracking, navigation and data sharing application aimed at soldiers, police, security forces, emergency services and others that need topographic navigation, tracking, blue force tracking, and common operational picture sharing. PES PRO was designed by the active soldiers, as a substitute for a traditional GPS receiver, paper map and a mobile phone.

It is designed to operate on an Android platform and uses global positioning system, or other device sensors for acquiring own position. This position is then displayed on raster map. PES PRO uses raster maps, are which for topographic navigation. It does not offer turn by turn navigation per se, such as Garmin or other navigation devices that rely on a road network data. PES PRO can use online public maps (Yahoo, Google, Open Street Maps etc.), Online WMS maps (usually provided by internal GIS departments), offline maps stored on the device in TMS (tiled format), or offline cached maps stored while browsing online maps. Ability to use offline or cached offline maps comes very handy in areas with no 3G coverage or when cost of data transfer is a limiting factor.

The HDT Arc-FireTM system manages real-time data between forward observers, commanders and fire direction centers over combat net radios using serial, digital or IP communications. Data is sent by incorporated handheld radios via digital communications from the fire direction center to each weapon. All reporting is automated and the system provides a fully digital system that may be used without voice communications. The systems still retains the capability to enable communications by voice and manually enter data if desired by the operator. The systems use of digital radios including to weapons allows significantly faster deployment and setup and increases survivability by enabling greater dispersion of weapons.

Positioning data is provided at every node via an integrated internal GPS and provides locations for each node. An integrated laser range finder provides accurate target locations which are automatically sent to the forward observer computer and provides a high degree (>75%) first round accuracy. The system complies with STANAG formats and fire orders.

The system is fully modular and scalable which provides an excellent basis for future enhancement and upgrade as new technology enters service. The fully windows based software creates a future-proof system which is lightweight and easy to operate. Each computer may be started in any system mode (Forward Observer, Command Post, Commander, Weapon) and are not role specific.

The systems may be delivered as software only to be incorporated into existing or common hardware platforms (subject to minimum operating requirements) in order to reduce logistic burden for the end user.

It’s Friday and the weekend is nearly upon us, and what a week it has been. I can certainly understand that you may want to spend some time with a therapist. But, remember that you’re paying for someone that studied psychology so they could understand themselves. If you want to be informed you’ll want to tune in OAN. I was catching up on world events this morning listing to Adonis Albright. Adonis seems like a down to earth nice fellow but Adonis? I’ll bet you he took some flack on that. Those not familiar with Greek Mythology, Adonis was a human male tapping the goddess Aphrodite. Calling someone Adonis, suggests extreme male beauty and youth. So, I suspect Mr. Albright had to get tough or die along the way. He’s a good guy that did a great job with the morning news.

Oh, did you hear the latest that Millennials are out in full force running for public office. I can just see Congress and the various State Legislatures populated by a bunch of people that can’t solve a single variable algebra equation texting each other. For real.

What our Border Patrol would be doing if the President had not ordered the military to the Southern Border.

I’m a firm believer in training. When implemented correctly, training develops skill sets and teaches you how to think through a scenario and the application of learned skill sets. If any of those components are missing the trainee will be deficient. Trainers that teach you how to solve a particular problem are doing you a disservice.

The video below is an excellent example of outstanding training. The only thing I saw missing was a Senator Corey Booker alleged restroom scenario!

 

On a more serious note, last week we saw a heinous crime committed, in the City of Pittsburg, against Jewish worshipers on the Sabbath. The hatred needed to carry out an act that left 11 dead, all seniors, and 6 wounded is incomprehensible, but equally incomprehensible is the left wing of the Democratic Party hijacking the event, EVEN BEFORE THESE INNOCENTS WERE LAID TO REST, to suggest to voters that  Donald Trump is responsible for stoking anti-Semitic sentiment. These individuals including members of the main stream media  are opportunists and morons. Donald Trump has family members that are themselves Jewish. Antisemitism did not start with Trump it’s centuries old, just read the Book of Esther in the Hebrew Bible. I’ll give you the executive summary

Esther, a Jewish woman and the recent wife of  the Persian King Ahasuerus (a.k.a. Xerxes), is credited for saving the Persian Jewish population. They were being exterminated by Haman, a vizier in the Persian Empire. Haman’s hatred for the Jews stems from Mordecal’s, a Jewish advisor to King Ahasuerus,  refusal to kneel before him. This event dates back to 450 B.C.  give or take a few years, and Anti-Semitism has been there for centuries.

Esther’s story is compelling and George Frideric Handel wrote an oratorio around the Hebrew Book of Esther in 1713; In that oratorio Handel captures Haman’s hatred for the Jews in the following aria.

Magnum Research Introduces New 429 DE Pistol Cartridge

Magnum Research has developed a new, fast, powerful .44 caliber pistol cartridge. The 429 DE (Desert Eagle) was designed to enhance the famous and powerful Desert Eagle platform. This cartridge has a 25% velocity increase and 45% energy increase over a 44 Mag (240 — 6″ barrel). It has a velocity of 1600 FPS with 240 grain bullets and 1750 FPS with 210 grain bullets.
The 429 DE features 30 degree shoulder headspaces and a neck long enough to properly hold and crimp a 240 grain bullet without set back under recoil. Based on the famous 50 AE cartridge, the 429 DE is made with Starline brass, and loaded by HSM in Montana with Sierra bullets.
“This new cartridge was engineered and designed specifically for the Desert Eagle Pistol, keeping in mind that the DEP is known world wide for its awesome firepower and performance. The 429 DE propels that history into the future,” says Jim Tertin, Design and R&D for Magnum Research.
The 429 DE rounds are available in boxes of twenty and distributed by Magnum Research, Inc. Available options include: 240 grain soft point (DEP429DE240JSP) MSRP of $42, and 210 grain hollow point (DEP429DE210JHP) MSRP of $42.
To accompany the 429 DE cartridge, Magnum Research will soon be releasing a lineup of 429 DE 6-inch barrels in a variety of finishes. The 429 DE barrels will be compatible with any MK19 USA or Israel Desert Eagle Pistol with a wide .830” rail on top of the barrel and uses a 50AE magazine and bolt. Note: The 429 DE is similar to, but NOT INTERCHANGABLE with, the obsolete 440 COR BON, but properly engineered with a sharp 30-degree shoulder, consistent headspace and reliable function and velocity.

The Bandit Pro uses a 950 mAh Lithium Polymer battery, sealed within the unit for service-free operation. It is rechargeable via a micro USB charging port. Red and green LED lights indicate battery charging status; charge time is approximately 3.5 hours depending on the USB charging source. 

Featuring a Polycarbonate body and lens, the Bandit Pro weighs just 1.6 ounces with the attached headband (1.7 ounces with the hat clip adaptor) and measures 2.7 inches in length.  The light is IPX4 rated for weather resistance and is impact resistance-tested to two meters.

The new light includes a handy snap-in hat clip adaptor to attach it to the brim of a baseball cap, or to adjust it further downward when using the headband.  It is available in Safety Yellow and Black.

The Bandit Pro also comes in an Industrial model that includes a rubber strap as well as 3M® Dual Lock® re-closable fasteners for use on hard hats.  The regular model has an MSRP of $39.00, while the Industrial model has an MSRP of $44.00.

PrecisionHawk’s LATAS platform will provide the highly accurate details DJI needs, such as the exact locations of airport runways and facility boundaries, to support the enhanced shapes in GEO 2.0.

Sumter, South Carolina Police Department Transitions to Complete SIG SAUER Platform with P320 and P365 Pistols

The Sumter Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency comprised of seven divisions with 120 sworn officers protecting over 40,000 citizens.

“The decision for us to transition from our GLOCK pistols to a complete SIG SAUER system was based on quality, performance, and safety. In testing we put the P320 and the P365 through the paces and, quite impressively, they both performed beyond expectations throughout our rugged testing requirements,” said Captain Michael Evans, Support Services, Sumter Police Department.

“Additionally, the modularity of the P320 allows our officers to choose a grip based on comfort without the addition of bulky backstraps, and we are really seeing the benefits of this feature in higher qualifying scores,” said Evans. “As for our detectives, the P365 is the perfect pistol because of the small size and high-capacity which makes it easy to conceal without sacrificing rounds. The P365 will also be placed into service as our agency issued backup firearm to replace the current GLOCK 43.”

The SIG SAUER P320 is a modular, striker-fired pistol available in full-size, carry, compact, and subcompact sizing. The serialized trigger group makes the P320 adaptable to multiple caliber, size, and grip options. The P320 is available in 9mm, .357SIG, 40S&W, and .45ACP, with a choice of contrast, or SIGLITE Night Sights. The intuitive 3-point takedown requires no trigger pull for disassembly, and safety features include a striker safety, disconnect safety, and optional manual safety.

The SIG SAUER P365 is an everyday, concealed carry pistol. This high capacity micro-compact pistol is smaller and lighter than other pistols in its class. It features a high-capacity, patented modified double-stack magazine for a 10+1 full-size capacity, with 12-round factory made magazines available for 13-round capacity.

The H_RD slide is a variant of the H9 slide engineered to allow for the optimized mounting of red dot optics. The patent pending H_RD slide mounting plate system allows a single slide to use multiple optics. Initially, Hudson Mfg is offering a choice from three machined, steel mounting plates for:

  • Trijicon RMR
  • Shield RMS
  • Leupold DeltaPoint Pro

 

Every H_RD slide will ship with an anodized aluminum block-off plate for use when an optic is not mounted. The H_RD features a suppressor height front sight to use with the integrated back-up rear sight on the RMS, the optional rear sight on the DeltaPoint Pro, or the integrated suppressor height rear sight on the RMR mounting plate.
The hardened steel mounting plates fit over a robust pivot surface and rotate securely into cuts in the slide. The result is a robust system that prevents forward and rearward motion of the plate and provides the assurance that the H_RD plates will keep your optic in place while shooting. The H_RD slide is engineered to allow for the lowest possible mounting surface without sacrificing weight, reliability, or compromising critical features.

Travis Gibson Brings Home the Bacon at Surefire World Multi-Gun Championship

Travis Gibson, of Caldwell, Idaho, on the move at the recent Surefire World Multi-Gun Championship at the Pro Gun Club of Boulder City, Nevada.

Competitive shooter and industry insider shares insights on the gear supporting his success

Competitive shooting veteran Travis Gibson wrapped up his 2018 schedule at the Surefire World Multi-gun Championship match earlier this month, narrowly missing a repeat of his 2017 title with a second-place overall finish in the 2X4 Open Division.

Gibson won the Open Division and was the overall match winner in 2017.

The match was held at the Pro Gun Club of Boulder City, Nevada, Oct. 5-7. Approximately 160 competitors—22 in the demanding 2X4 Open Division—participated over two-and-a-half days, shooting 15 stages, including two night stages.

Gibson, of Caldwell, Idaho, finished first on stage one, a rifle, shotgun and pistol-caliber carbine (PCC) stage, and crushed the long-range stage, finishing in first place there, engaging rifle targets from 120 to 360 yards. He also had top-three finishes on eight other stages.

The exciting 2X4 Open Division features fast-paced, dynamic shooting. Shooters use rifle, pistol, shotgun or PCC, and must use at least two guns per stage.

Gibson helped design the Caracal USA Versus rifle with a Proof Research carbon-fiber barrel he uses in competition. Gibson’s rifle is equipped with a Vortex Optics 1-6 scope with an MGM Switchview throw lever, an offset Vortex Optics red dot and a Surefire muzzle break. For ammo, he usesHornady 62-grain TAP for close-range targets and Hornady 75-grain Steel Cased for long-range targets. He carries an EMG Customs pistol chambered in 9mm with a Vortex red dot, which he loads with Hornady 135-grain +P ammo. His shotgun is an X Rail by RCI topped with a Vortex red dot.

Gibson has been wearing Howard Leight by Honeywell hearing protection since he began shooting competitively more than a decade ago, even preceding his formal sponsorship by the brand. He wore the new Howard Leight Impact Sport Bolt electronic earmuff with digital compression circuitry at the Surefire match.

Gibson says the demands of high-speed, multi-gun events favor a fast, low-profile muff design such as the Bolt. “They’re comfortable, fit well, and it’s easy to use them with a shotgun or any shoulder-mounted gun. I really like the fast attack time Bolt’s digital circuitry provides,” says Gibson, referring to the mere .5-milliseconds it takes the muff to detect and attenuate sounds louder than 82dB. “Plus, they have excellent clarity,” he adds. “That’s critical during competition. Being able to interact with the range officers, respond to questions, or hear commands when something like an equipment failure happens is huge.”

Gibson says Impact Sport Bolt’s blend of quality, performance, comfort and pricing makes it a clear winner, for any kind or shooter—or anyone else who values their hearing. “Getting a super quality earmuff for the price point they have is hard to beat. I wear these muffs even when I’m out mowing the lawn,” he says. “I’ll put a set of foamies in with the muffs over them, plug my phone into the external 3.5mm jack and listen to music or whatever. Whether I’m shooting, weed eating, running the chain saw, or whatever, if I’m making noise outside, I’m wearing these muffs,” he says.

The Surefire World Multi-Gun Championship event concludes Gibson’s competitive year. He called the Surefire match a “great time,” where he picked up a lot of points, but “struggled on some of the short/fast stages.” He simply attributed that to a lack of practice, and plans to put more training time in over the coming months. That may be easier said than done; as much as Gibson loves competitive shooting, his main role is Vice President at MGM Targets, where he is laser-focused on getting the company ready for the SHOT Show in January.
